Just here to share the journey of solo, nomadic truck camper life!
Back in 2021, I decided to chase a long-time dream of living on the road, out of my Toyota Tacoma, SOLO! I quit the 9-5 job, I sold the things, and set my sails for the road ahead. A lot has happened since then, including the building of a custom flatbed camper on the back of my Tacoma.
Thank you for being here and supporting my work!

Camping At A 100 YEAR OLD Dam | Solo Camp & Cook | Relax Cozy Campfire ASMR
Construction of this multi-arch, buttress dam began in 1919 and was finished in 1923. The dam stands at 92 feet high by 1,700 feet wide, constructed of reinforced concrete. Over the century, the consequences of constant exposure to the harsh elements, including freeze-and-thaw events, has led to the slow deterioration of the dam. When irrigators explored the cost of rebuilding the dam, the estimate ranged from $11 to $20 million. Due to its growing instability, in 2005 the DWR ordered a larger spillway to be cut into the side of the dam in order to keep the maximum water level from rising too high. In 2007, the Association of Dam Safety released a list of 14 dams in the state that are considered to be structurally deficient. This particular one was identified as one of the four highest-hazard dams. By 2009, the dam was only holding back 5,500 acre-feet, with levels rising no higher than 69.2 feet, compared to the 12,743 acre-feet and rising height of 88 feet that it once held. Sadly its pending failure seems inevitable, as the cost to repair it only rises and time continues to take its relentless toll on the dam.
I am immensely grateful that I was able to experience camping beside this beautiful structure while it still stands, and enjoy - without a doubt - one of most memorable campfires I've ever had.

CRACKED Flexplate In My Tacoma! Did dealership's prior work cause it?
มุมมอง 4.7Kปีที่แล้ว
It's not very often that a Flexplate cracks, let alone in several places. Unless of course, there was prior transmission work done from a Toyota Dealership and all signs certainly suggest a bit of installation negligence. But of course, we can only prove so much. This was, quite literally, a ticking time-bomb that was well on it's way to catastrophic failure. My deepest thank you to Geoffrey fo...

Disheartening turn of events this week..
มุมมอง 8Kปีที่แล้ว
The last mile is the hardest... We are SO close to being finished and yet snag after snag is appearing. It's taken a real blow to my spirits. Worry.. fear... doubt... it certainly is getting to me. I desire nothing more than to be finished and yet we can't seem to quite get there. Frustrating and discouraging for sure. It'll be worth it right? That's what I keep telling myself. But this week.. ...
I can't believe this is happening!
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
The camper cabinets are DONE. Woohoo! BUT... unfortunately it was such a mad week that I completely dropped the ball on filming the finished buildout before we removed several panels and sent a couple things to powder coat. Now it looks unfinished yet again. Fear not - I will show you all very soon. In the meantime, I had a rather fun announcement to share. Will I see you there?? → If you love ...
NOW the camper is starting to feel like HOME.
มุมมอง 7Kปีที่แล้ว
It's pretty darn amazing how just a few panels has completely changed this camper! Yes, the trade-off to that is that there is some additional weight with all of the plywood. But admittedly, it's the trade-off I chose to make. With living in this full-time, I wanted it to feel incredibly welcoming. I wanted it to feel like home. We are all on our way to accomplishing that goal. The walnut facin...
We stole this idea from VAN builds! DIY Interior
มุมมอง 6Kปีที่แล้ว
A lot of van builds use a similar method for paneling the interior walls. Structural base (usually plywood but we used corrugated plastic sheets) , foam (we used 1/8") , and fabric. Rivnuts or tapping holes works for mounting the panels. → If you love what I'm doing and want to support, consider becoming a Patreon: patreon.com/badassbrunette → Join me on Instagram: @BadassBrunette instagram.com...

This 61 year old just found your channel. I’m so glad you’ve done so well. I’m hitting the road with my little dog as soon as my little micro camper is done. Thanks for inspiring me.
Total badass!
Thank you. I wish everyone would practice Leave No Trace. It makes me sad to go out for an adventure and see trash everywhere.

Thats a Hot idea. I dig it❤
Im not a good welder. I wish i was. I am practicing a little. But this is a nice build

Aerospace engineer here, I'm sure you already know.....but the cold will transfer from the outer plate and through the honeycomb structure. You will need to glue an insulating panel to the inside plate.
Tom Wood drive shafts are not mean for daily driving. It’s made for off road driving. It won’t last more than 6-7 years, plus the company only offers a 1 year warranty. Stick with your original drive shaft and add spacers at the carrier bearing, it’ll last way longer.

Definitely would love an update on this or a link to anyone else using one!
Can you apply this stuff in cold weather? I know they say to apply them minimum of 50F . Is that true?
I was counting, 1,2,3,4,5,6,7.... and he finaly saw it. Ha Ha
Only thing missing is a rooftop AC! Amazing though!
I love your videos! After a bit of digging i figured out where this one is! Very cool!
Thank you for changing my search from can I tape solar panels on my roof" to "can I remove the solar panels once taped"
That's where I'm at lol. Especially worries about taping to a TPO roof membrane.. Did you come up with anything??
@@tylerchampagne6145 Not yet tried it, but they do recommend tape when you want the panel to be removable. Apparently you need to break the seal some way and it becomes loose from that particular point. Excuse my English, not a native speaker :D There is a video on youtube how to remove your front mirror that is taped with 3m to the windscreen.
There is no way your dust control gets it all. A respirator is essential for good health in the long run. Great project!
Nice build and well thought out.
Yeah I think certain jobs need longer warranties.
love my VHB tape.... what did we do without it.... oh, and dont forget the Cyanoacrylate (CA) Super Glue and accelerator ... thanks for posting
Hi. I build a pop up module for Hilux. Do you remember what kind of fabric you have chosen for the tent ? How does it work out ? - waterproof, breathability, UV stability, mechanical strength and the whole durability?
Hi Ms where can I get this aluminum honeycomb
Very cool buildout! I would like to do the same with my Gladiator.
A collaborator with Super Pacific designed a hiatal bracket to mount the heater behind the Tacoma bed AC outlet cubby so the heater is behind the rear panel/fender and outside the bed.
You’re awesome! I love this.
Looks like plain corrugated plastic sheets. I gave up looking for a supplier. The only exact 1/8" sheet i can find is the pressed hard board. It's just to heavy for the ceiling. Any advice welcome!
It depends on the substrate you're gluing it to. If you have a flat aluminum roof it will hold well. My motorhome roof has a thin EPDM (rubber) membrane covering a plywood roof. Even if it did adhere to this thin membrane, the membrane itself would surely pull lose from the roof, tear and fly off. I used 54 toggle bolts with over 1,000lbs of tensile strength each to secure my solar array to the plywood roof of my motorhome, so it comes off, the whole roof is coming with it.
Awesome setup. Congratulations and thanks for the inspo.

FUEL TANK u mean! Fuel Cell is very different. Nice alum tank tho. 👌
Yea the companies are calling these "fuel cell tanks" I guess. Custom auto builds use these and refer to them as fuel cells.

Here this is a year late, but I wonder if the struts could’ve been shortened so that there was limits to how much it opened and therefore it would fit better.

Dude 10 hp isnt anything. I hit them up and for my 4runner it is 10-12hp and 10 torque. For $500?!
The torque curve and throttle response are the big gains, linear power through the whole curve is the difference
Exceptional build. Very nice! 🤙🏼

I imagine the first installer used a shitty bearing puller, jacked up the bearings, and then reused them. If it was a incorrect set up the ring gear would be so sharp you can't touch them and the bearings would not be clunky. But who know for sure.
Robinson Cynthia Lopez Brenda Martin James
i was a 3M specialist and sold vhb - it absolutely will work for this application. It’s crazy strong.
Hey there, hope you read this are are willing to help! If I’m using this tape to adhere FRP to Aluminum, will VHB tape work? I know it has issues adhering to plastic, but with the UV primer I should be able to, right? Thanks in advance!
@ VHB tape can be an effective option for bonding aluminum to fiberglass reinforced plastic. Make sure the surfaces are very clean : You can isopropyl alcohol for cleaning. You can apply a primer - Check the VHB tape’s product recommendations on this. Maybe do a test before you do anything major
@@ithinkthonkthunk5333 thank you very much for response! I appreciate the input!
