- Construction of this multi-arch, buttress dam began in 1919 and was finished in 1923. The dam stands at 92 feet high by 1,700 feet wide, constructed of reinforced concrete. Over the century, the consequences of constant exposure to the harsh elements, including freeze-and-thaw events, has led to the slow deterioration of the dam. When irrigators explored the cost of rebuilding the dam, the estimate ranged from $11 to $20 million. Due to its growing instability, in 2005 the DWR ordered a larger spillway to be cut into the side of the dam in order to keep the maximum water level from rising too high. In 2007, the Association of Dam Safety released a list of 14 dams in the state that are considered to be structurally deficient. This particular one was identified as one of the four highest-hazard dams. By 2009, the dam was only holding back 5,500 acre-feet, with levels rising no higher than 69.2 feet, compared to the 12,743 acre-feet and rising height of 88 feet that it once held. Sadly its pending failure seems inevitable, as the cost to repair it only rises and time continues to take its relentless toll on the dam.
I am immensely grateful that I was able to experience camping beside this beautiful structure while it still stands, and enjoy - without a doubt - one of most memorable campfires I've ever had.

Haven't heard from you in a while. Hope you are great and looking forward to your next video.
Need more !!! Great content
I’m fairly positive I have been here. I didn’t go down in front of the dam like you, I stayed up on the reservoir but it was such a cool area! Wish I had time to explore that area more when I was there. Thanks for the video! You do a great job with telling the story without having to say much of anything
Its a neat area, isnt it? Thanks for watching!
Love that picture of you lounging with the campfire illuminating the walls of the dam and looking towards the stars! I think this location is in the dark skies area.
Love it. Just found your channel and hopefully I figure what pushed you to turn off the fast paced world and just be. I’m trying to get there and, God willing, in 9 months I too will be living my best life in the slow solo lane. Great channel and best of luck to you. Maybe I’ll see ya on the road
Thank you for sharing your wonderful Dam night keep up the great videos I enjoy to see them. 😎👍
Just catching up....looked like a bad ass campsite to me, and a wonderful night by the fire....beautiful morning....dam footage at the end was freakin' cool ! Thanks for sharing!!
What an amazing spot. Cool feather! Great picture by the fire.
Cool spot to spend the night, I like the night shot from the back of the arch behind the fire. It would have made a rad thumbnail for the video.
Admire and love your talented work. V coverage of campsite side of dam remains is beautiful...best looking stir fry I've seen...artistic capture of your stay...final drone reveal of "how much water on the other side" is movie quality...great work!...you've been gone for awhile...I hope you come back...
What a cool old place! Historical structures like that are so intriguing. You're videography is awesome. Happy travels!
Foot tapping waiting for next vid.......
I am worried about you. Are you OK?
Same. Haven’t heard from BABs in a while.
Awesome place and within a few hrs of Boise/Twin/IdahoFalls! Love the wood river valley!! I wont spoil the location details! Fund this girls adventures!
You and I share the same Mining town and Ghost town type of adventure. I need to get back on the dirt roads of our region. Have not been since Dan and our families went camping north of Lava in Summer of 2019. I had been doing 2K miles across Utah and Idaho back in that time. I have done some day trips and 2 overnights in the last 3 years. I love seeing your Vids and have memories of you sharing your biscuit and baking pics back in the day when you were still working.
Cheers,
Mike
Incredibly epic video!
Awesome content, drone and photo captures!
Glad I stumbled across your channel. It was great waking up to 18 degrees in Colorado this morning to watch this video before I start the day. Happy trails gal!
Awh thank you for watching! Stay warm and happy trails as well!
Colorado yep it was fall time this morning in colorado but a beautiful day it turned out to be. Watching badass cook makes me hungry
Stepping up the editing game! GREAT vid!
Heeey thank you so much!!
I love watching your videos and researching to figure out where you're at, because I know you're local to me! It helps me discover places I didn't even know existed in our own state! I've lived here most all my life, and I'm not young!
Which state is that?? I live on the road and travel to many states these days. :)
Haven’t heard from you in a while. Hope all is well.
Looks like you need to get on the other side of that dam and camp next to the reservoir! Really enjoyed this video! Gracias
Interesting design for a dam and a lot of concrete for a relatively remote area.
What a beautiful place to camp! Really enjoy your channel. Greetings from Florida.
Great video! Awesome editing! Nice video to start my day!
Thank you for watching! 💙
Hey, haven’t seen or heard from you in forever. Hope you are well.

❤❤❤❤ great video. Like off Discovery channel
Wow what a spot! I could post up there for a few days. Reminds me of an earthen railroad trussel I camp at.
Great video! Food looked good! ❤
Oooh railroad trusses are equally as awesome. Bet it's a sweet spot!
Your content and rig are REALLY awesome! Any new video’s coming soon? Stay safe and enjoy life. ❤️
Thanks Dave! 💙 Keep sticking around - there may be more videos one day. :)
👍👍
I had to go for a bike ride and swim 😁
Great job and there is so much to do and see in your area! Canyon lands might be calling ??
Dam interesting. Dam fun.
Dam right. 🤘🏻
@@BadassBrunette LOL. Perfect response! I am going to be laughing in my sleep.
Beautiful my friend!! As an Oregon resident it looks like eastern Oregon high desert or Idaho?
Hope you are ok.
Nice combination of Vlog and ASMR. You blended them well. Would those beef strips be considered beefsnake? (Dad jokes. Sorry. 😆)
Hahah they certainly were long! Should have chopped em up a bit. 🤭
Where are you? Hope you’re OK! Your last video was more the 4 months ago.
Did you visit the nearby hot springs. Your in very awesome country.
Sure did! It was busy on a week day so I didn't film it.
What state is this in?!
Is your dirt bike trailer custom made ? Can’t find anything with that ground clearance.
Yep, custom made by me. Doing an axle flip (spring-over) and adding full size tires can give any trailer some decent clearance.
Nice work. I’ve about decided I’ll have to retrofit a trailer to get that set-up. Appreciate you replying.

What has happened to you my GBA?
Still around. Sharing updates and happenings over on Patreon!
@@BadassBrunette I cannot decide if the "G" as in "my GBA" stands for 1) Gorgeous, 2) Glamorous, 3) Game over knock em dead because she is so amazing, or 4) Going to heaven now because my life is over, because I have seen her. What is the point of going on? BAB, you do that to a guy.
this is not ASMR
