Understanding Insulin Resistance: How It Works In Human Body??? | Diabetes
Understanding insulin resistance is crucial in managing diabetes and kidney disease because it directly affects how the body processes glucose, leading to elevated blood sugar levels and increased risk of complications.
This video is created from a long podcast in which Kelly have talked about ketogenic diets and their significance, and addressed how insulin resistance work in diabetes and kidney disease. Do check out the full podcast.

In this enlightening video, Fiona and Kelly delve into the complex world of insulin resistance and the impact of a high-fat diet on your body. If you're looking to understand how insulin resistance works and the effects of dietary choices on this condition, this video is packed with valuable insights and information.
At the beginning of the video, Kelly explains the intricate mechanisms behind insulin resistance, a condition where the body's cells become less responsive to the hormone insulin. Insulin is crucial for regulating blood sugar levels by facilitating the uptake of glucose into cells for energy. When cells are resistant to insulin, the pancreas produces more insulin to compensate, but over time, this can lead to higher blood sugar levels and type 2 diabetes.
Moving on, Kelly explores the impact of consuming a high-fat diet on insulin resistance and overall metabolic health. Kelly emphasizes that while fats are an essential part of a balanced diet, the type and amount of fat consumed can significantly influence insulin resistance and metabolic health. She provides practical advice on how to adjust dietary habits to mitigate the negative effects of high-fat intake.
0:12 Intro
0:24 How does Insulin Resistance Work?
3:00 Effects of eating High Fat Diet
5:10 Outro
Overall, this video provides a comprehensive understanding of insulin resistance and the significant impact of diet, particularly high-fat consumption, on this condition. Fiona and Kelly offer actionable insights and practical tips to help viewers manage insulin resistance through informed dietary choices.

    Melatonin is NOT a hormone, it's a molecule. Yes it's produced by the pineal gland and seems to be responsible for the night peak, but melatonin is also produced by the gut and the retina (although here it does not seem to affect nocturnal levels). Melatonin does not induce sleep but facilitates its onset and produces a sleep pattern typical in children, thus greatly improving quality of sleep. But it is so much more than a 'sleep molecule'. You should look into the work of Professor Walter Pierpaoli, author of "The Melatonin Miracle" who has researched this molecule for over 30 years ☺

    • @KidneyCoach
      @KidneyCoach 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Actually by all scientific literature melatonin IS a hormone. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30304113/ and I have seen the work of Prof Piperpaoli and as a practitioner my previous comment stands that HUGE doses of Melatonin should be done under the supervision of a health care provider.

    How do you explain Jordan Peterson and his family's diet. Carnivore diet? They only eat meat and it cured their acidity and all their sickness. How does this relate to your conclusion of too much protein for the body?

    • @KidneyCoach
      @KidneyCoach 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      They didn't have kidney disease. If your kidneys work perfectly then the carnivore diet might be good short term. Also carnivore is very good if you have allergies to chemicals in plants. Also you see vegan diets cure some people. It is all very individual, no one diet is perfect for anyone. Kidney disease requires something different to say an autoimmune disease that is driven by allergies to plant chemicals.

  • @BentBuddha
    @BentBuddha 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I'm confused by messages of needing to limit protein with kidney disease and testimony of ppl swearing they reversed ckd by going on a carnivore diet. How is this even possible?

    • @KidneyCoach
      @KidneyCoach 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      If you have elevated protein in the urine then you should limit protein as too much will cause further damage to the nephrons. Autoimmune driven kidney disease might respond well to a carnivore diet short term. However after working with over 250,000 people with CDK the majority respond best to an alkaline diet with limited animal protein as animal protein drives TMAO levels that can worsen kidney disease.

    Why does MOTS-c degrade as quickly as you imply? If you can't explain the mechanism, then you're just repeating something that you snatched off the internet. Ditto if you always have to check your notes.

  • @tim1878

    Peptides, like all medications, have side-effects that are intolerable for some people. To say otherwise is misleading.

    • @KidneyCoach
      @KidneyCoach 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      We are quoting the clinical trials for SS-31 and MOTS-C which both reported very few side effects apart from the ones that we mentioned.

    • @tim1878
      @tim1878 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@KidneyCoach If a researcher overdoes it with MOTS-C, the signal receptors can become desenitized. The researcher then blames the peptide, thinking it degrade because it doesn't work as well. Although it is tempting, slamming 10 mg is probably not the best way to dose it. Tremblay recommends 1 mg per day for 10 or 20 days, followed by two weeks off.

    • @tim1878
      @tim1878 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@KidneyCoach Both are well tolerated, as they say, though side-effects may increase with dose. Some promoters like to say that peptides can't be overdosed, but that's a reckless statement.

    • @KidneyCoach
      @KidneyCoach 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I agree with you. Peptides should only be used short term as they upregulate pathways so we only recommend them short term and less is definitely more when it comes to peptides. The lowest dose to be effective is what I always recommend.

  • @dfinite4089
    @dfinite4089 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Confused about what is recommended here. Chelation or no chelation?? Is it too heavy for the kidneys?

  • @tim1878
    @tim1878 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I seriously doubt that MOTSc degrades in solution. According to Jean-Francois Tremblay, a Canadian researcher who makes and tests peptide products, peptides are very stable, can even be shaken in a vial, and don't require refrigeration. He's never mentioned an exception for MOTSc.

    • @KidneyCoach
      @KidneyCoach 17 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It was thought for a long time that MOTS-C was unstable, I agree that some new studies have come out suggesting it isnt as unstable as we thought it was. I would still keep it in the fridge and use it within 3 months after reconstituting it.

    I was diagnosed with acute kidney failure in March 2023. I understand this method of ‘CBA’ in terms of how to approach this kidney issue. I am a retired accountant with MBA. I decided the ‘benefit’ of drinking more water and eating a better diet would outweigh the ‘cost’ of no lifestyle change. My kidneys improved and I have lost 55 pounds. The point: what does it ‘cost’ us if we do not change? What are the ‘benefits’ of making a change? What is ‘cost’ to take more meds? What are ‘benefits’ of diet change in regular foods to manage this condition/diagnosis? It’s logic based analysis. Don’t ignore this logic. I changed. Took time. I’m age 75. This will delay faster deterioration of my kidneys at this point. I’m sticking with my diet. I don’t want dialysis. Thank you for this video. It gives us ‘options’.
