Yes it is. Check with the Department of Conservation (DOC). that it’s open before going as they’ve been doing some upgrades to the track. I believe it’s open on weekends, and closed during the week 😀

@@FreewheelingKiwi Really good of you to remember. New Zealand has incredible hikes. Highlights were Tongariro Alpine Crossing, Roy’s Peak and of course the Routeburn. The Hooker valley track had brilliant views but way too many people - my own fault, I was warned but arrived late. Lots of great memories and met so many nice people along the way.
