Your hiking videos are the most informative videos about hiking. I find them really helpful as a newbie. My husband is from Wellington and we live in Sydney. The way you capture the beautiful NZ landscape always makes me smile.

I bought a 15,000 bank/solar charger for a trip to the uk in 2023, and not long after I'd purchased it, found out that airlines are reluctant to let you fly with ones that size. Took 2x10,000 powerbanks which I managed to keep charged. All good advice, thank you.

Interesting, I’ve flown with my 16000 and 20000 mAmp with no airline issues though you do need to take them as carry on. Maybe different airlines have different policies 🤔

Thanks for this info..I hadn’t heard of a solar charging power bank so am definitely going to investigate it further for my bikepacking trips. Cheers, John

Glad it was helpful John, my only concern is the lack of sunlight in New Zealand but even with that, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. Happy trail riding 🚴🏻‍♂️🚴🏻‍♂️

great information, and very good advice. I would like to suggest a second pair of boots, brake them in, and set them at a stop somewhere down the trail. The distance you are covering, and the terrain could damage the boots you are starting out with, beyond repair. just a thought. seen other trips come to a halt for that reason. take care, stay safe.

Thanks Lex, I’ve been wondering about that option as I’ve also read that some hikers feet grew / spread a couple of sizes and then the boots they’d sent on no longer fitted.
I’ll be wearing trail runners rather than boots, the day in, day out tramping would just be too much with my heavy boots but the runners are even more likely to get shredded 🤔

I always have my power bank with me, it adds weight but I need my phone.

I’m the same Thomas, though one day it would be good to experiment and go without it… just like back in the day 😣😁
