Staying at abandoned farm in rainforest

- I hike for three hours to Leitch’s Hut, an abandoned farm deep in the Waitomo rainforest. Unfortunately near the start I trip over and fall on the track leaving me with a large scratch on my leg and bruised ribs. Find out whose farm this was and why they abandoned it over one hundred years ago.

⛺️ Accommodation: Leithchs Hut $5 Bookings not required - first come, first served. With 25 on the first night, some slept in the kitchen, on the verandah and in tents. I was lucky to get a bunk 😀

They certainly did get around back in the Day, , lovely place to spend a few years, cool that the old macs are still going strong aswell✌️👍
It would have been so tough Shane, clearing a couple more acres every year 😅.
There’s a bit of dead wood in the mac’s, not a good place to camp under but all the hunters dog boxes are under there 🐕🏕️
