Progressive 944 FST two up test ride. Is there a magic setting?

  • This is the first test ride on my new Progressive 944 touring shocks with FST technology. This is also Mrs. Geezers first ride on them. I had to see if my settings would work for her. I need my setting a little stiffer but her weight made them just soft enough for her to feel comfortable. No need to keep changing the settings.

I popped Progressives on my wifes sporty, I used 13's there. For my RGS I added Suspension Technology USA and those are amazing! They do stabilize the rear more as Harley only uses 1 real shock and one slave shock

What length did you get on Suspension Technology shocks?

Makes you want to change out those front fork tubes to Progressives as well, right?

Enjoyed your video. I have a quick question. I ride a 2018 RG CVO with the stock 12 inch shocks. I like the way my bike looks with the 12 inch shocks, but obviously the ride is horrible. I'm interested in the Progressive 944 13 inch shocks because not only will the ride improve, but also when installed, the bike is supposed to sit at stock height when I'm NOT sitting on it. Is this true? I want to upgrade the rear shocks AND maintain the look of the stock height, again without me sitting on it. Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have the 13s and it sits the same if not a little lower. Much better ride once you lear what your adjustments are. The extra inch is inside the top part.

I have the Progressive 444 on my Iron 883. I didnt know I had them cuz I bought the bike with them on and there was no insignia saying Progressive anywhere until 1 day I looked closer and saw it under the spring. The adjustment was all the way out so no lines present. I wasn't too pleased with how they performed on harder bumps and then realized I could adjust them so I screwed the adjuster down 2 lines and it was night and day difference. But im still confused about how the adjustment scale works. Is it the heavier you are the more you screw the thing down exposing the lines? Im 185 lbs 6 foot tall. I wonder if I go down to 3rd line it will be better? It's getting harder to turn the adjustment knob so I haven't tried it. I just wish I knew what the scaling is on adjustment so I better understand the logic. Do you know? Thanks and sweet ride!

When you turn it you see the screw lines and the more lines the tighter it gets. I have 4 showing most of the time unless my bike is loaded down. I like a softer ride than most. I'm over 200 lbs and my seat puts me a little more forward. Your seat can make a difference as to where you sit. I'm doing anothewr video soon because I am doing the fronts as well. I'll talk about both in more depth.

Did I miss it? What was your "magic setting"? I mean we're interesting in knowing your baseline. And at 5:55....it looks like the missus almost got bounced off. Clarification?

I found one setting that works for both. I purposely found a really bad bump to test along with the normal ones. I am on setting 6.5 out of 9 which works for single and 2 up.

Well, everyone will be different so I hesitated to say in the video. But, I ended up at 5 rings for us both and it works well for me as it is just a little stiffer which I don't mind.
