    This is Gigabyte’s M27Q, one of the best 1440p 170Hz IPS monitors I’ve seen with a surprising and unique feature built in that makes it literally the perfect monitor for Linux gamers. It has a KVM built in, so with the press of a button you can swap from your main Linux OS to your VFIO Windows VM and your keyboard and mouse come with you. Amazing!

    They released a new version, the M27Q-P (M27Q-P-AP for some Asian regions) which completely changes the panel to a newer SS IPS panel that features a normal RGB layout. It’s finally retaking the crown as the best $300-400$ 1440p monitor.
    Tried editing in Lightroom and GIMP, even did some light colorgrading on video renders. It’s absolutely fantastic. Get this monitor if you’re on the $300-$400 budget range.
    As for gaming, I tried it on QHD + ultra + ultra RT for these games
    Cyberpunk 2077
    Watch Dogs Legion
    Ghostwire Tokyo
    Also some fps:
    CSGO
    VALORANT
    Verdict: Everything is buttery smooth, vivid and vibrant while letting text be readable no issues.

      @@Zombie101 Input lag is awesome butter smooth, even i use it at 144hz because old gpu limitation of r7 370 (you must have gpu with 1.4 displayport to support to run it at 170hz) i bought this monitor for fps games and i find this is my personal settings i find good for me: overdrive = speed, freesync = off and aim stabilaizer=off and i think it is faster then some more expensive monitors...am always first now in call of duty 2 game... people think im cheating lol 🤣 colors are great, picture is great more i use it more i love it :) some "dead" or "stuck" pixels i think i have found 1 or 2 but trust even if you got with few it is 2560x1440=3686400 pixels you will only notice it if you get so close to monitor, maybe a little black light bleed in corner but don't mind... for the price this monitor i would rate it 9.5/10

But i'm always liking to watch the occasional sdr movie/serie on my pc monitors..hardware unbox did à great review too, the contrast ratio is actually not too bad for an ips; real 1050+..of course not a va, but...is that enough in black room to watch movies with it? Just got this monitor from the black Friday sales. Can confirm that it's pretty great!! I had some weird ghosting of colors happening on L4D2 when I would whip the mouse around but after enabling HDR it fixed itself immediately. Enabling it takes away other features like backlight strobing and overdrive but I do not miss them. It doesn't come with a USB-C to USB-C cable so I havent used the KVM yet. Still, I HIGHLY recommend this monitor!!!

    I have that monitor. I don´t use the KVM function but everything else is top notch about that monitor. Forget the 0.5 ms capability that is marketing bullshit, that kind of response time comes with a lot of overshoot. 170 Hz at "picture quality" preset is the best option and that comes with an average of 5 ms, but with zero overshoot/undershoot. Colors are amazing with 93% P3 coverage and 95% adobe rgb coverage. Backlight bleed is present in my monitor in the right and left bottom corners, but that seems to be random, some people get less, others get more. Overall is a pretty good monitor for gaming and it is the best i´ve ever had.

Just bought one on 12/26/2022 at MicroCenter on sale for under $300 and will return my ASUS VG278 due to blurry text and low brightness when low-blue light is on! Ty for review. This monitor uses a new panel made by Sharp company. How was HDR? This is an entry lvl HDR but it's VESA 400 certified so it'd be nice to know how it behaved in games while HDR was on. Also, did you notice a blue and red color distortion by the left and right bezels? I think it affects all the M27Q as well. Might be due to BGR pixel layout instead of RGB.

    Surprised they didn't just use the same panel they have in the G27Q and slapped the KVM on top. This looks more like a direct successor to the previous Aorus generation (minus the fancier build quality), whereas the new Aorus flagship of course now has a 240hz panel.

  • @chrinaldi

    ... This is a very cool monitor...
    And I just bought a monitor last week (144p 1080p)...
    And I just recently installed Linux (2 months)
    Why... Why...
    And yes, I would *love* to see a tutorial on how to set up that passthrough using KVM system; I envision that I will eventually upgrade to this monitor in a foreseeable future when I am going to upgrade my graphics card.

    • @JLALALALA
      @JLALALALA 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The KVM on this monitor is the reason I bought it - well, one of the main reasons - and it hasn't let me down. I have a Displayport cable connected to it from Displayport on the monitor to my Asus Tuf Gaming 3070 displayport. I have my Macbook Pro laptop connected with an HDMI cable and the part that took me the longest to figure out, also a USB-C from the monitor to the MBP. Without this it wouldn't work. No idea why, but it needs the USB-C connected on one of the two systems. I have a 7 port USB 3 external hub connected to one of the monitors USB ports and on that I have my keyboard, mouse, webcam and desktop mic. All of these work seamlessly whenever I switch using the KVM. It's really a joy to be able to keep my desk space so much less cluttered. I just need a decent speaker without many wires that will work on both and I'll be good. The Beats Pill I have is only Bluetooth and the Windows PC just won't recognize it.
      One thing to say is that Gigabyte support sucks, truly sucks. The only way to contact them is through an esupport page and they say right on the page it will take 7 days to get back and that's what it took. Even then, they didn't actually answer my questions, just asked me to provide more information. I ended up figuring out the KVM solution out on my own.

    One part in particular, namely the input lag test, where you tested with 3 "systems", Reference System, Ubuntu and Windows VM. I'm debating whether I want to return this also. There's backlight bleed on the lower left and lower right corners and the viewing angles isn't as great as other IPS displays I have used, namely Dell, and Asus TUF. But I'm still hoping someone will release a good color calibration setting to test it one final time.

    • @panderalexander
      @panderalexander 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have this monitor and BGR is no problem, can change from RGB to BGR in OS registry, or do what I did since the factory stand is VESA I unmounted it and rotated it 180 and mounted back and it’s RGB now, just go to display settings and rotate horizontally.

    • @samconroyy
      @samconroyy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just an FYI, you cannot mount it upside down if you plan to use g-sync. Rotating also adds latency, this is a Windows related drawback however.
      Making changes to the registry will also apply the change to any other monitors you have, meaning it's a solution for a single monitor setup.
      Only "fix" is to disable clear type or play around with clear types customisation.

      @@samconroyy Those are the reason I decided to buy a different monitor. The specs and the KVM feature makes this monitor have a better value compared to other monitors with similar specs, but the BGR subpixel layout issues made it a hard buy for me. Hey @techteamgb. Looking for help with my dual gaming monitor setup.
    I've two monitors
    1) Gigabyte M27Q 27" 170Hz 1440P KVM Gaming Monitor
    2) Regular monitor
    Note: I also have a Dell WD15 Monitor Docking station 4K with 130W Adapter.
    I've a gaming pc and work laptop.
    Usecase : currently I have already connected these monitors to pc. But I would like to switch these monitors between pc and laptop. Is there a easy way to switch?
    Like if I wanted to play games I would like to use my existing setup (monitors with pc), but if I wanted to do office work, I would like to connect to these 2 monitors to laptop (simply via some USB c or whatever). How can I do that (is that a easy switch, should I buy anything)
    Note : the gigabyte monitor has a kvm switch (I really don't know if it can help me achieve my usecase though)

    I tried connecting both of my desktop systems, but it only works for one. The other gets video/audio, but it doesn't seem to get keyboard and mouse, nor sound from my desktop speakers. (Monitor Speaker is fine, but is horrendous)
    I seen a demo and the second device was using a smartphone. Since everything is built-in to the phone, it doesn't need anything except a type C.
    But the desktop is only one allowed. Not what I expected. As KVM stand for switching all three of keyboard/video/monitor on everything.

    Hello!
    Could you confirm whether this monitor supports 4k input from a PS5 console? The reason I ask is that the PS5 does not output 1440p. The monitors from MSI have a console mode where it accepts a 4k signal and scales down to 1440p. Thus the image looks sharper than 1080p video signal scaled to 1440p.
