I love this monitor, i picked it up at $379 on Black Friday! I was wondering why my ps5 had ghosting while play god of War but, not with CoD, that’s because GOW is at 60 Hz and cod plays at 120hz. I appreciate that knowledge and that makes so much sense!
I'd like to see a comparison of monitors that offer a single overdrive experience. Fiddling with different mode alternatives sounds exhausting even in short term.
I know this is an old video, but I hope you read this comment. I bought the M27Q X because of this review, and I really like it for the value it provided at the time of my purchase. It would be nice however, if you could have included more details on the software they provide (OSDSidekick), and tested it more. After using it for some time, I've found multiple bugs, and it is overall badly designed. For example: The Custom profiles cannot have their settings changed if you go from sRGB mode to a custom profile, but it works if you first enter standard, then the custom profile. The crosshair hotkey always gives you the number 1 default crosshair, instead of your custom one. The application for some reason is see-through, which makes it hard to read values or know which sliders are disabled. The gamma values shown to the user in OSDSidekick are displayed as gamma 1-4 instead of 2.0, 2.2 etc. in the monitor settings. These are all problems which have not been addressed almost a year after the products release.
I bought this monitor today, but I'm having problems with color. In sRGB mode, the colors are unexpectedly too bland; in Standard, they're too vibrant, and I can't seem to find a middle ground.
I have the M27Q bgr and a cheaper Samsung 24 inch 1080p monitor. Even with the bgr sub pixel layout, the pixel density makes a substantial difference in clarity.
I need help choosing 1 monitor out of this monitor reviewed in the video or the Gigabyte GS27Q X, i can get the Gigabyte GS27Q X for 30-40 euro cheaper but i cant really find anything about the difference between both exept that the M27Q X has a bit higher brightness.
Scorptec seems to have a M27Q-X Rev2 listed now, will the differences be documented similarly to how you did with the 24G2? Have been looking into getting it as an upgrade.
At the same price (both are between 350-400 in my region), would be better to buy the msi mag optix mag274qrf-qd or the LG 27gp850? I'm more interested in a gaming experience (I don't do video editing or similar)
Amazon recently had the Odyssey G7 27" for as low as $530 USD, got one and have had only minor issues thus far like the auto input switching not working at all and the standby light being INSANELY bright and unable to be turned off. Some paper and tape helped with that though.
It has a weird contrast thing it does because it is not full 8 but or whatever. It has dithering lines in really dark scenes, I think the gigabyte one would be better if it doesn't have this
@@MrPruske I haven't had any dithering issues but ymmv. A lot of issues like that vary. HUB's own sample of the G7 had really bad backlight bleed, mine only has it at extreme vertical viewing angles when the screen is pitch black so it's a complete non-issue for me. Dying Light 2 looks great on it, but I also want to try some games that actually use HDR as well.
@@IndyMiraaga Have you tried using the dimming zones set to on for SDR gaming. The black levels get much deeper and it works very well, plus it covers up any backlight bleed. I have it set to on at all times.
Another great feature of the G7 is if you play any Switch games on it you can force 120hz through the monitor OSD to make the motion look slightly clearer even though the switch only outputs 60hz.
I just received this monitor from Newegg a couple days back. Set it up the day after I got it and sadly, there was 1 dead pixel in the center of the screen. At first I wasn't going to let it bother me but after using it and talking with people, having even just 1 dead pixel is enough to warrant a return. Would you buy a brand new car with a small crack on the windshield? No. Newegg has a pretty generous dead pixel policy for as few as just 1 dead pixels. Having said that, Newegg also will not hold a new monitor for you while you're sending the defective unit back, which is baffling. So if they receive my RMA, and the monitor goes out of stock, I have to wait until it comes back in stock, or get a refund I suppose and get something different. Pretty dumb considering I paid them and they took my money, yet, I am not satisfied with the product. A respectable company would service their already paid customers first, especially if they are dissatisfied, before moving on to the next sale.

I just can't stop looking at the MAG27 on the charts, seems like the best performance given it's price, from color gamut, ghosting in relevance to response time and input lag. I do wonder how big of a difference 165hz is compared to 240hz however... But it does sound like a better option other than that.
I have a 240hz 1080p monitor and a 180 (OC'd) hz 1440p monitor. The difference is definitely noticable (less smoothness), but way less noticable than going from like 60 hz to 120 hz.
This monitor is fantastic (especially considering its price point of $399), I say that being an early adopter of 1440p resolution that paid a premium for 144hz quite a few years ago. When my old Acer predator finally died I began a lengthy search into monitors and ultimately bought this one because it was in stock whereas the MSI QD was not. Very happy with the performance so far and after a bit of tweaking the color accuracy and picture quality is outstanding with plenty of brightness. For anyone wondering , Yes it fully supports G-sync despite being labeled a free sync monitor.
Your reviews here are very informative and would definitely help sway my monitor choice when pulling the trigger on purchasing one...although i was wondering if you have ever thought about doing any long term monitor testing or do these manufacturers require you to return them after reviewing them?
you should put the BENQ gaming monitor as a comparison with all other monitors on every review whenever you put them on backlight strobing perfromance comparisons
Dilema, I play a game that bounces from 120-140 to 200-240 fps. I just got this monitor, and I'm wondering if its's a bad match because of overdrive settings and blur. Thoughts?
i dont understand how the LG 27gp850 is ahead in most of these tests? i have the LG but its not smooth enough for me, so i thought about getting a 240hz one, and this seems like it would be a downgrade?
Is the inverse ghosting at 30% a problem for competitive gaming let's say CS:GO when using balance mode which I think is the best for 240Hz use if otherwise response times are over 9 ms on average...?
SO I bought this monitor recently and I lose the input source constantly. It drops to a black screen for a few seconds and eventually comes back. I have checked and swapped the display cable and tried other monitors... no issues.
The Samsung G7 odyssey 27" is always on sale and is the best one IMO. In fact i got an Amazon warehouse deal so it was even cheaper. The curve is a non issue after using it for a few hours sat straight on at a desk, in fact i don't like flat ones now. Plus it has actual decent HDR, especially because it has good blacks from being a VA so blooming is not a big issue unlike IPS even with limited dimming zones.
Do you have any flickering or stutter or lines showing when using the G7? I'm looking into buying that monitor and heard all of these issues have been fixed in an update recently
@@ElectroLM10 On a 240hz i don't use adaptive sync as tearing at any fps is not much of a thing and i find i get the best lag and response times. I only use adaptive sync on monitors that are lower than 240hz as tearing looks terrible. Of course some people might be bothered at 240hz with very minor tearing but to me it's invisible enough. The flickering etc was only supposed to happen when adaptive sync was on.
@Garrus Vakarian The curve can look extreme but after a few hours i loved it and prefer it now, especially if a VA panel. I don't even think or care about it now. It's an RGB pixel layout and a light matte screen and has zero issues with text clarity at all.
@@ElectroLM10 No problem. Another few tips for the G7 is to use the fastest overdrive setting but not the MBR one. Also try setting the dimming zones to "on" at all times as SDR benefits from better black levels and it can hide any slight backlight bleed your panel may have. I also had the gamma to mode 1 and black EQ to 10, sharpness to 56, contrast at 75 and then set the backlight to whatever you like. Mine had accurate RGB greyscale out the box so no need to alter the RGB levels. This made the picture accurate enough to gamma 2.2 and D65 whitepoint so AAA games look excellent. Obviously if playing e sports then change settings to whatever for better sight etc even though it makes the picture look bad. On my monitor backlight 40 was about 180 nits in brightness after making these changes. Of course adaptive sync turned off and v sync forced off in gpu control panel. Hopefully you'll love the monitor and get on with the curve. Oh and one last point my Corsair mouse can poll at 8000hz and i can also feel that makes a change over a 1000hz polling one due to the 240hz refresh.

Amazing review, very hyped with Gigabytes 1440p monitors. Anyway, you have already tested the M27Q and M27QX models, but what about the M27Q P and G27Q ones?
How does the "refresh rate compliance" influence the performance visualy ? What negative effects will I see when the compliance is lets say less than 50%.

Whats the difference between gigabyte G series and M series for example M27q and G27q? I bought G24f 1080p monitor recently, how is it, was that a good choice?
I have the first gen M27Q (170 Hz) with built-in KVM, I got it to use with my gaming PC and my work laptop, but unfortunately neither of them has a USB-C port. Would I be able to use the KVM with a USB-C -> HDMI adapter? Can HDMI carry keyboard/mouse signals if used this way? Using a USB-C -> USB-A likely won't work since my laptop only has USB 2.0 ports and I don't think even USB 3.0 can carry video signals.
Not sure why adaptive refresh response times are an issue on 240hz. Just use 240hz and play with v sync and adaptive sync off. Tearing is a non issue on 240hz and you just get whatever fps you get and it looks fine.
@Garrus Vakarian Sure tearing at lower hz is awful but that's why you always play at 240hz. When i have it set to 240hz even if my fps is only 85fps it looks perfectly fine. No reason ever to have the monitor set to any other hz. For me adaptive sync on the G7 when getting say 100fps makes motion look slightly more blurry and worse input lag as it's made the monitor go to 100hz to match the 100fps. I find blur and lag are better with a set 240hz on maximum overdrive and let the fps do whatever i don't have any major tearing issues. If i had a sub 240hz monitor then sure adaptive sync is a must.

It's a pity since I really liked it on first impressions
How would you guys compare this Gigabyte model vs the 165Hz MSI OPTIX that sits around £350 in price? Especially with regards to real response times etc
Why is your recorded value for the input lag of the MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD so much higher in this video than it was in your individual video reviewing the monitor (9.3 vs 7.0)?

Night and day difference if you’ve ever owned an asus monitor you’ll notice it. If you can, try and save $160 more for a far better experience overall. People warning of dead pixels are spot on. Buyer beware. Bought this monitor because of HU’s recommendation and regretted it only because of the horrendous quality control. Amazon wouldn’t even let you do a direct replacement, just return & rebuy if you wanted the same one. Bought an MSI that had equivalent specs and it’s just about perfect.
Which monitor
That's the case for every monitor I've ever purchased. I don't know if it's just my luck, but I loathe the process of upgrading because it is always a gamble. I can promise you that it doesn't matter what company you buy from, there's always a chance at getting a defective product
Detailed review as always. Any chance of you reviewing the M27Q P which is supposed to be a M27Q with a different panel? Not sure if they addresses the RGB issue.
Yeh it would be great if we could get a comparison between all the M27Q monitors :)
The MSI MAG274qrf QD does a 240hzt variant now. Plans to review this one?
Will you guys be looking at the gs27qx? It seems like a low cost successor to the M27QX but not sure if the panel performs similarly as features have been removed. Hoping you can check it out for a 240hz budget comparison!
This monitor was out of stock for a while here in the Netherlands, but will be available again in 4 days for a price of around 600 euros
The Alienware AW2723DF is in sale for 500 euro
Its 379 now
im shopping for a 240 hz 1440p monitor right now and where i live the odyssey g7 costs 150€ less than this is it even worth to consider the Gigabyte M27Q X? Ive also heard a lot of complaints about the g7 so im really indecisive..

I'd like to see a comparison of monitors that offer a single overdrive experience. Fiddling with different mode alternatives sounds exhausting even in short term.
Looking forward to reviews of some of the upcoming 1440p HDR1000 300Hz monitors. On paper those have the ultimate specs for gaming monitors.
what monitors?
H2 release this year, which we know in monitor land, means 2023.
@Male Sensitivity I`m getting the neo G8. 4k 240hz. That is the ultimate gaming monitor coming out in 2022
There's even talk about a 500 fps monitor, And as usual thanks for the research
@Male Sensitivity please dont tell me they re gonna use that outdated gsync module
its a deal breaker for me . i need all refresh rate to be good and usable with one settings

For example:
The Custom profiles cannot have their settings changed if you go from sRGB mode to a custom profile, but it works if you first enter standard, then the custom profile.
It’s a budget monitor and the osd works fine. How often are you changing the settings anyway?
I bought this monitor today, but I'm having problems with color.
In sRGB mode, the colors are unexpectedly too bland; in Standard, they're too vibrant, and I can't seem to find a middle ground.
all the manufactures really need to get their sh*t together with the single overdrive mode
I wonder how does a different sub-pixel layout at higher resolutions compare to normal RBG one at 1080p in terms of sharpness
I have the M27Q bgr and a cheaper Samsung 24 inch 1080p monitor.

Gigabyte M27Q X 140% sRGB is the chosen one.
60% refresh compliance on balanced overdrive settings... That panel is WAY too slow for 244Hz. I don't like seeing anything below 80-90%.
Finally! Thanks for the review. Saw yours on the m27q and figured I would take the gamble. Glad it’s great and not curved for that matter.
I'm more interested in a gaming experience (I don't do video editing or similar)
which is better for FPS games between this and the odyssey g7?
What settings (color, contrast, brightness etc..) would anyone recommend for this monitor please ?
Do we know when this monitor will be available in Australia? I see the M27Q but it’s missing the X 🤷🏼♂️
Thanks for the great content!
Amazon recently had the Odyssey G7 27" for as low as $530 USD, got one and have had only minor issues thus far like the auto input switching not working at all and the standby light being INSANELY bright and unable to be turned off. Some paper and tape helped with that though.
That’s the monitor I was thinking of buying
It has a weird contrast thing it does because it is not full 8 but or whatever. It has dithering lines in really dark scenes, I think the gigabyte one would be better if it doesn't have this
@@MrPruske I haven't had any dithering issues but ymmv. A lot of issues like that vary. HUB's own sample of the G7 had really bad backlight bleed, mine only has it at extreme vertical viewing angles when the screen is pitch black so it's a complete non-issue for me. Dying Light 2 looks great on it, but I also want to try some games that actually use HDR as well.
@@IndyMiraaga
Have you tried using the dimming zones set to on for SDR gaming.
I bought the m27q thanks to your previous reviews, and I was not disappointed. I advised my brother to buy it too and he enjoys it as much as I do
Are u fine with the blurry text due to the BGR? When i tested the m27q, i couldn't stand the blurry text and the image quality looks also kinda blurry.
@@timmy4151 yes I am, and if I recall well I could change a setting in windows so it would know it's in BGR and would adapt everything to it.
Maybe you can be very sensible to it, I know I can be as I usually have a hard time watching a tv from an other brand than high quality ones like LG and samsung, but here I'm good
M27Q-X is not available in my country, considering the M27Q, but im undecided between that one, LG 27GP850 and MSI MAG274QRF-QD, been spamming reviews on YT and can't still make up my mind, I want it mainly for gaming for high response time with good image overall, any help is appreciated!
Should I buy this or the Samsung g7?
If there any reason to buy m27q-X istead of m27q-P if i don't need 240hz, and 120 is fine for me?
Dilema, I play a game that bounces from 120-140 to 200-240 fps. I just got this monitor, and I'm wondering if its's a bad match because of overdrive settings and blur. Thoughts?
man Gigabyte are doing good things for the monitor market
i dont understand how the LG 27gp850 is ahead in most of these tests?
i have the LG but its not smooth enough for me, so i thought about getting a 240hz one, and this seems like it would be a downgrade?
Do the BENQ ZOWIE with DYAC+ please 🙏🏿
Thank you. will you be reviewing the latest release M27Q-P??
Pretty good review as always! I was wondering which is better tho, this monitor or the MSI Optix MAG274QRX? Which one do you recommend?
Why would you ever buy this if you can get the G7 for below 500€ ? It's just not priced competitively at least here in Germany.
Because not everyone likes the curve. It’s an absolute deal breaker for me.
@@ElectroLM10
On a 240hz i don't use adaptive sync as tearing at any fps is not much of a thing and i find i get the best lag and response times. I only use adaptive sync on monitors that are lower than 240hz as tearing looks terrible. Of course some people might be bothered at 240hz with very minor tearing but to me it's invisible enough. The flickering etc was only supposed to happen when adaptive sync was on.
@Garrus Vakarian
The curve can look extreme but after a few hours i loved it and prefer it now, especially if a VA panel. I don't even think or care about it now. It's an RGB pixel layout and a light matte screen and has zero issues with text clarity at all.
@@theoldpcgamer77 Thank you, appreciate the help. I'll hopefully be buying the monitor then as it's also on sale for 499$
@@ElectroLM10
No problem.
If you're not gaming competitively, would you buy this or the MAG274QRF-QD?
Got a 32" 1440p 165hz curved hdr panel with freesync from dell. Love it

they may not be a good power supply manufacturer but seem to be a welcome Monitor competitor! and now this monitor is on sale for $399 :)
Is the shift from 170hz to 240hz legitimately worth over a hundred dollars more? Everywhere I look says the difference between even 144hz and 240hz is almost imperceptible.
I have a 165 and 240 side by side.
Not really, if the only difference is the refresh rate and youre on a budget.
there is a difference but not 100$ worth

M is for the KVM switch
What is the best alternative to this one in 2024? 144hz+ 2K gaming+photo editing?
I have the first gen M27Q (170 Hz) with built-in KVM, I got it to use with my gaming PC and my work laptop, but unfortunately neither of them has a USB-C port. Would I be able to use the KVM with a USB-C -> HDMI adapter? Can HDMI carry keyboard/mouse signals if used this way?
Using a USB-C -> USB-A likely won't work since my laptop only has USB 2.0 ports and I don't think even USB 3.0 can carry video signals.
Dear monitor companies...
If you do NOT include HDMI 2.1 in 2022, then you are wasting my time
Not sure why adaptive refresh response times are an issue on 240hz. Just use 240hz and play with v sync and adaptive sync off. Tearing is a non issue on 240hz and you just get whatever fps you get and it looks fine.
@Garrus Vakarian
Sure tearing at lower hz is awful but that's why you always play at 240hz.
