PC tech is like falling in love with a hooker, you are paying to have your heart broken. All kidding aside I do like the 27q I've had since last year if the newer one is even better it's going to be a hit.
I am torn between this monitor and the HP x27q. I would choose the x27q because of the lower price but I am afraid that the image quality and colors wont be very good since the previous tests have positioned it at the bottom of the list. Is there really a big image and quality difference between this monitor and the x27q enough to make me want to pay the extra ~100 dollars?
Thank you very much for the video. Besides 170 Hz and slightly higher lag I do not see any downsides compared to M27Q X, which I could get for 200€ less in Europe at the moment. Any other features which are really better in M27Q X?
Thanks, I was hesitant about the gigabyte due to many complaints about backlight bleed on amazon reviews and I heard gigabyte is a nightmare for customer support.
Again and again, thank so much for the excellent in-depth analysis. Particularly, I love the HUB essentials checklist. It's unbelievable how "1ms response time" and "DisplayHDR 400" are just blatant lies and false advertising.
In my home market this monitor is about 430 €, which makes it more expensive than the 27GP850, which costs below 350 €. Probably not worth getting for this price, but it might drop over time. Nice review as always!!!!
What can you say about the M32QC? there are almost no reviews, but I would like to know what is the difference from the G32QC (how strong ghosting, etc...)
Couldn't find a M27Q anywhere so went with the LG 27GP83B instead. Cheaper and better in most tests. Contrast isn't quite as good, but other than that I am happy with my choice.
Thanks for another great review! A question: are you planning any more reviews of budget 1440p 144+Hz monitors? Looking at US pricing, there's a surprising amount of options out there in the ~$250 range, and given the decent performance of that HP I'm curious as to how the rest of the crop measures up. Given how well these Gigabyte M monitors perform, I'd be interested in seeing the G27Q reviewed.
Way too expensive here in Europe for what it provides. Seems on par with the LG 27GP850 in this test, which can be had on discount for 300€. This is 150 more here, not to mention that's it's a Gigabyte lol
In my region the LG 27gp850 is 330 euros, would you still reccomend it? If I should look for other 1440p 27inch alternatives like the mag 274qrf-qd or the Samsung g7?
Edit: seems like what @bepis and nuggers pointed out, I was too early watching the vid to be given the privilege by our TH-cam gods to be given the 1440p/4k option. Well, cheers to a good vid! Original comment: Since we're talking about 1440p monitors being adopted more and more, are you planning to upload videos in 1440p or better any time soon? Sure, 1440p may be targeted more towards gamers who gonna game, but I'm starting to find it jarring to watch 1080p videos on 1440p monitors nowadays, especially when it's very noticeable with how the graphs aren't not as crisp to look at in full screen.

Great video! I love these monitor reviews, however in my region (central EU) these monitors usually take a while to even come to the market if ever, and the pricing is sometimes vastly different. I have however noticed the LG 27GP850-B monitor going on sale quite often lately for as low as the low 300s (€). Should I just snag that? Any advice appreciated.
I picked up a 32gp83B, which is an 850 without a usb hub or panel overclocking, for 215$ US from Amazon warehouse. All the film was unpeeled on my unit and the only thing that looks like it’s missing are the HDMI and DP cables. Hell of a score in my book!
27gp850-b is better and cheaper in europe, you can get it for 299€. Gigabyte is way more expensive in europe. his reviews don't take that in account! (He claims it's not a good buy because it costs 499$ in his market)
dont get me wrong or something but in the original review the avarage response time was 5,19 with picture quality enabled and in this review is the response time is 9.20 so whats with the difference?
I found a video he did on this where he said he was measuring response times not between black and white, but a dark grey and greyish white. So basically the old response times are too generous and you should be careful about videos before 2021-02-12
Thank you for the great reviews, these are great! I have a question, i'm looking for a 32" Monitor and i'll only be working in Photoshop, Illustrator and 3D Programs. what would you recommend for that?
Your review was the reason I bought a m27q. Single overdrive was the main reason I went with it over competitors. The new model is a downgrade in my opinion.
@@Flyingboots1 set it and forget it overdrive mode is hugely important. The newer model loses that and doesn't gain anything of value in return. Thus making the different panel a downgrade imo. It's a must have feature on high end monitors and it was amazing to get at this price point.
@@Grantly420 I agree, one of the main reasons I got the M27Q, as well. I'm one of those people who actually changes their refresh rate often, depending on the type of game or content they're doing. So having one-fits-all is very convenient. Plus, I think the picture and color quality of the M27Q is great. Sure, there are probably better alternatives, but the grass is always greener. The BRG layout never bothered me either after I set it up right with that Windows ClearType thing. I think it's a simple case that if you're currently buying a new monitor with these specs and don't care much single overdrive settings, then there's no reason not to get the new M27Q-P variant. If you already have a M27Q, then there's no reason to bother with the M27Q-P variant, unless you want to run more than one monitor. That's my takeaway, at least.
Great review! I have always been watching this channel for detailed reviews. With the pricing in our location has dropped, this is well suited for my budget so I ended up buying it. But is there a way to get the best calibrated settings that HUB used for testing? Though I am currently okay with how the monitor looks and feels to my eyes while I game, I would still want to have the best experience for my purchase. And I don't have the budget to buy a color testing device just to calibrate this monitor. Thank you to anyone that would answer. Happy gaming everyone!
Bought this monitor (m27qp) as a single monitor replacement for my 2k work and 1080p gaming screen, and so i would no longer have to toggle my mouse and keyboard between machines. I was very excited by the reviews, but am completely disappointed by it in the flesh. I am curios to hear if anyone has experienced the same issues, or if I have lost the electronics lottery on this one? Issues: 1. KVM switch doesnt work. After powering up i can use KVM once, but post that i cant return to the original device via KVM OR Input select. After about 20s of thinking time it just reverts back to the same source. If i turn off and on the monitor it will work again, but once only...WTF!! Moving cables from PC to Laptop was less of an inconvenience. 2. Image will just cut out at random and i get the OSD resolution for a few seconds 3. Backlight bleed is shocking, all four corners look to be lit up by MCG flood lights 4. An issue i only discovered this morning, it doesn't automatically power down once ive shut down my PC. Turned off my PC last night, came in this morning to a bright room as the monitor backlights were still on...WTF?? 5. Not a fault but just something to NOTE: the PD via USB C is a joke 5V 2A - if youre looking for a one cable solution for your laptop this isnt it...which is bizzare for a monitor thats got a KVM...OR in my case has a KVM button that doesnt do anything....

What are you thoughts on buying a second hand older high end 1440p like the Asus Swift PG279 or buying a new low to mid range new model of similar money?
From the European consumer standpoint, I'm not seeing the value proposition from the M27Q P (€450). The MSI Optix MAG274QRF-QD (€400) still is the bracket champion. Better response time /cumulative deviation control, better build quality, better quality control. All that being said, for an extra 50euros over the price of the M27Q P, the M27Q X can be had at €500 (for that 240Hz value). Was hoping to get the M27Q X for €450 two days ago but it was out of stock so went with the mag274qrf-qd instead.
I never understand naming conventions for monitors. M27Q P is newer than M27Q X? Performance vs Extreme? Only difference is refresh rate? Damn, at least make it easy to understand the differences between sub models guys.
The back buttons are a problem when you have multiple monitors. If you have one right next to it, you can't use them. There is a bewel, just put them there. Also why bother with HDMI when most cards have DP that is in every way better.
If only the 4k monitors werent so expensive. The price gap between good 1440p and good 4k is too large imo. You can get 180Hz 1440p for 300€ but the same size decent 144Hz 4k is like 550+€
I’m now kind of doubly annoyed you released this like a month or two after I just bought the Gigabyte M27Q on your recommendation lol. Seems like I should have waited just a bit longer because that unclear text in windows 10 made me think I was losing my vision for like a week. What can I do though, monitors are constantly changing and getting better, but I needed to get above 1080p and 75hz. Edit: I guess the one upside is that the M27Q P costs $439 on Amazon right now, and the M27Q I bought was on sale for about $320 on Amazon 1-2 months ago when I got it. So for an older version I saved a bit more than $100 USD which helps a lot on a tight budget. I guess that extra $100 gets you a better color gamut and calibration, which I would have LOVED because I don’t own any calibration software to fix my M27Q out of the box :/
I like very much your tests. Following your tests I bought a Gigabyte M27Q X. I like it very much. Thank you very much. I've watched this review and I see that's not much of a difference in tests between M27Q X and M27Q P except the max theoretically frequency and the price. What I like to find out is is there a noticeble difference in quality image in real life usage. IMO tests are usefull but in real life what human eye can perceive is another thing. So as a general impression is there a noticeble difference in quality of images, between the two monitors? Of course put in same situation/environment/hardware. Thank you very much

@@MountainMitchYT yes. the lower left corner for my panel was the worst, but the other three were pretty good in terms of ips glow. even then, the lower left panel is very manageable. that corner is noticeable, but only in black/pretty dark scenes.

Picked the M27Q because of your video. I'm not really affected with the BGR layout, though I do get dizzy reading when going back to regular 1080p RGB pixel layout.
Finally RGB pixel layout. Woohoo
Please test some more budget 1440p 34" ultrawide monitors with decent colour accuracy and flat panel with 144hz or above.
Seems like expecting too much on budget haha
Awesome review. Good to know that the BGR was taken away, they desperately needed that.
Could you look at the MSI G273QF? It's apparently a fantastic monitor and really on the cheap side.
There's also the MSI G273QPF. Pretty sure it's the same panel but with a better stand.
Keep up the good work!

Testing the new 4K240Hz monitor or the announced 1080p500Hz one would be interesting.
I love my M27Q. It has a beautiful picture and you can change it to exactly how you like to have your settings.
Help me choose the gigabyte M27Q-P vs LG 27gp850 .
Which is better
Makes me glad I got the S2721DGF on a super discount recently (under $400 CAD). I didn’t miss out on anything, since I was cross shopping the M27Q
How is it? Are you satisfied with your purchase?
Where? Can't find them in stock.
Hey Hardware Unboxed, your Gray-To-Gray testing is pretty good, but you could take the next step and measure pre-ringing and post-ringing. You could do that using a high-speed data acquisition device. It doesn't have to cost a lot.
Except for testing time.
They already measure 3-97%, please don't tell me you think you can see some 0.5% of ringing...
@@0xCAFEF00D indeed, that's the main cost, but what I'm saying is the setup to measure this can be inexpensive, so it's a low cost toentry.

Thank you for making such great review, it helps a lot!
Thank you, glad it was helpful.
got a dell s2721dgf for 300 a little while ago glad to see it in the list
I may be getting this one tbh just purely for the cpmpetstive gaming aspect. I'll use my oled tv for the single player games. Yet again proving the only true 1ms response time display on the market is an oled as it's almost always around 1 to 2ms regardless
I've had a m27q original for a while now and I've loved it its been great recently though one pixel died and since I've noticed it I can't stop seeing it
Just snagged one off Newegg for $280. Bought it instead of the hp x27q since so many people complained of the panel switch. The LG 27GL83A-B is also $280, honestly wasn't sure if it was better or worse than the M27Q-P, but still went with the M27Q-P. It's crazy this one is cheaper than the normal M27Q which is running at $300 right now. I hope I got the right one, on Newegg it says "M27Q-PRO" instead of "M27Q-P".
how do u like it so far??
I have the original model and LOVE it! With a BGR fix thats even better, cannot recommend enough this is THE monitor to have if you have a sensible budget
Do you have any quality issues with it? I recently bought it and now im reading reviews about it having defects. For example, pple are ranting about it having dead and stuck pixels. How long have you owned the monitor? thanks for the help.
I think Gigabyte do make some good quality, and reasonably priced monitors. I've had the M28U and have throughly enjoyed it
M27Q is actually a reasonable enough name, and I'm worried that they're adding onto it.
Just upgraded to this from a 1080p 75hz display I bought back in 2017. I didn't know how much of an improvement this would be.
thanks to you , now is the right time to spring for that lg gp850, its been on my list for a while now
Picked this up for my brother in-law at newegg last week for 250 for xmas. Seems like a good budget option especially for that price.
How has it been so far?

M27Q had a single overdrive settings of picture quality in you review for older model I guess, and you guys showed of 5ms response time
I loved that checklist at the end.
PC tech is like falling in love with a hooker, you are paying to have your heart broken. All kidding aside I do like the 27q I've had since last year if the newer one is even better it's going to be a hit.
I love this channel but i always regret any purchase i make when videos like this are posted lol. I bought the alienware aw2721d 1440p 240hz
No spend within your means
Thank you very much for the video. Besides 170 Hz and slightly higher lag I do not see any downsides compared to M27Q X, which I could get for 200€ less in Europe at the moment. Any other features which are really better in M27Q X?
I wish it's 10c here too, darn summer heat, it's 26c here at 6am with 80+% humidity, I always get ur vids in the morning, always great reviews
FOR ALL NEW PEOPLE LOOKING TO BUY A MONITOR
go for dell g2724d
much cheaper and better version of this monitor
But the gigabyte one is on sale
Thank you so much buddy 🤠
Thanks, I was hesitant about the gigabyte due to many complaints about backlight bleed on amazon reviews and I heard gigabyte is a nightmare for customer support.
The minimum brightness being so high at 96 nits (11:30) is a deal breaker for wanting to use it in a dark room.
Again and again, thank so much for the excellent in-depth analysis. Particularly, I love the HUB essentials checklist. It's unbelievable how "1ms response time" and "DisplayHDR 400" are just blatant lies and false advertising.
It is. They added True black display HDR and lowered the standard for HDR. It’s a money grab really lol
Hdr 400 plus no dimming zones is Fake Hdr.
In my home market this monitor is about 430 €, which makes it more expensive than the 27GP850, which costs below 350 €. Probably not worth getting for this price, but it might drop over time. Nice review as always!!!!

Is it better than gp850?
judging from Tim's test results I'd say their performance are very close to each other.
In my region the LG 27gp850 is 330 euros, would you still reccomend it? If I should look for other 1440p 27inch alternatives like the mag 274qrf-qd or the Samsung g7?
which is better between Gigabyte M27Q rev 2.0 or AOC Q27G2SD?
Edit: seems like what @bepis and nuggers pointed out, I was too early watching the vid to be given the privilege by our TH-cam gods to be given the 1440p/4k option. Well, cheers to a good vid!
Original comment:
Since we're talking about 1440p monitors being adopted more and more, are you planning to upload videos in 1440p or better any time soon? Sure, 1440p may be targeted more towards gamers who gonna game, but I'm starting to find it jarring to watch 1080p videos on 1440p monitors nowadays, especially when it's very noticeable with how the graphs aren't not as crisp to look at in full screen.
What do you mean? Videos are in 4k? Meaning 1440p as well.

Good day!!! Planning to get 1440p monitor and need your advise.. should I get Benq Mobius EX2710q or the Gigabyte M27Q-P? Really torn on what 1440p monitor should i get
Hello mate, if you have to choose between the gigabyte m27q-p and the LG 27gp850-b which one would you choose and why? Thank you!
I hate it when I see different response times in different refresh rates cause you rarely play locked to max refresh rate and use free sync most of the times
Thought this was going to better than M27Q X version :( Just go with a LG 27GP850 180hz monitor instead.
How does this compare to the M32Q? I was wondering if this is just a smaller version of it considering they're both RGB panels.
@@maxkels608 Yeah I though so. Thx for the info :)
dont get me wrong or something but in the original review the avarage response time was 5,19 with picture quality enabled and in this review is the response time is 9.20 so whats with the difference?
I found a video he did on this where he said he was measuring response times not between black and white, but a dark grey and greyish white. So basically the old response times are too generous and you should be careful about videos before 2021-02-12
Thank you for the great reviews, these are great! I have a question, i'm looking for a 32" Monitor and i'll only be working in Photoshop, Illustrator and 3D Programs. what would you recommend for that?
How about the M27Q-P ($250) versus the M27Q-X ($370)?? Other than the difference in Hz, they seem mostly similar. Is it worth it to get the X?
Your review was the reason I bought a m27q. Single overdrive was the main reason I went with it over competitors. The new model is a downgrade in my opinion.
Why? Are you trying to keep from getting buyers remorse?
Issues:
2. Image will just cut out at random and i get the OSD resolution for a few seconds
3. Backlight bleed is shocking, all four corners look to be lit up by MCG flood lights

Quick Question for anyone : WHICH MONITOR ?
Gigabyte M27Q / M32Q
LG 27gp850-b / 32gp850
This monitor or lg27gp850??? Please need to make decision
I am having this same problem. Not sure which to choose but the lg seems better and cheaper.
I have the option to get M27Q Pro or M32Q at the same price. Which would you pick?
Same problem lol
The back buttons are a problem when you have multiple monitors. If you have one right next to it, you can't use them. There is a bewel, just put them there. Also why bother with HDMI when most cards have DP that is in every way better.
If only the 4k monitors werent so expensive. The price gap between good 1440p and good 4k is too large imo. You can get 180Hz 1440p for 300€ but the same size decent 144Hz 4k is like 550+€
With those prices you are actually paying less per pixel for the 4k display.
Bro I've been running 1080p 60hz I need a 1440p 180hz that would be ridiculous. I'm not really concerned with 4k right now at least
What we want is more budget 40" UW 144hz monitors like LC-Power LC-M40-UWQHD-144 !!!
Gigabyte m27q or ld gp850 which is best?
Good to know that I don't need to replace my M27Q.
Really informative review, thank you!
I guess that extra $100 gets you a better color gamut and calibration, which I would have LOVED because I don’t own any calibration software to fix my M27Q out of the box :/
read through comments there is a software to fix the text clarity problem if you re using a single monitor set up from what i ve understood
Yeah the pro model is now $250 on Newegg lmao!!
