Oh man I'm so torn on this monitor. I just got it myself and put it through all kinds of tests. My overall impression for the price (290 euros) is positive, but here's my pro's and cons list and why I'm still undecided on keeping it: (warning: long post)
    Pro's:
*+ motion handling & overdrive:* while there are faster panels out there, you won't find many that can go from 60hz to 170hz in Freesync without either having smearing *or* overshoot somewhere along the range. This one can, which is downright exceptional and competes with models over twice its price without breaking a sweat.
*+ works with both my PC @ 1440p 170z and Series X @ 1440p 120hz* without any issues or updates needed. I guess my came with the newer firmware already installed (if yours doesn't work with your console - update the firmware and it *will* work at 1440p 120hz over HDMI 2.0).
*+ excellent gray uniformity* on my unit (almost no dirty screen effect what-so-ever) so panning shots in-game or even watching sports on it is exceptionally good (especially when compared to my mid-high end Samsung Q90T television)
*+ many configuration options in the OSD* and software if you want to get into it.
*+ decent, albeit very plastic construction and finish*
    Cons:
*- backlight bleed* : this is the big one for me here. The monitor has some IPS glow, primarily in the bottom left and right corner. This is expected for most IPS panels (even high end ones), *especially* (and unfortunately) for budget ones with good specs. However, there's also quite some backlight bleed that combines with it, especially that lower left corner (and a small part in the bottom center of the monitor). That bottom left spot is quite big and combined with IPS glow to form a large gold/orange glow that reacts to pressure (slightly squeeze the panel and it'll shift around). It's visible during anything that's not working in windows or contains any mid to dark tones and for me quite distracting.
I've heard both backlight bleed and IPS glow (especially the latter) can change (get either worse or better) over time, especially the first few weeks, with use as the panel gets some heat and time away from it's packaging due to pressure changes. So I'm planning on keeping it at least a week to see if it changes at all. If it doesn't... I might have to exchange it. But I'm hesitant as I've had horrible luck with monitors in the past (broken backlight on two, dead pixels or entire clusters on 3, simply 1 that was defective and the list goes on) and this one doesn't even seem to have dead or stuck pixels (haven't spotted a single one).
*BGR pixel structure* : This one is minor to me. I scale windows to 125% which looks kind of weird on its own and Cleartype does what it's supposed to mostly. Unnoticeable in games or watching movies. I work with text a lot and I do notice it here and there, but honestly the change from native to scaled is larger to my eyes than the difference between BGR/RGB text in most cases.
*Stand doesn't offer much* : can't expect too much in this price range, but some swivel or rotation would've been nice. I'm happy it doesn't take up much space though!.
So yeah, that was my lifestory on this monitor. Thanks for reading and if anyone's gotten this far: let me know how yours is treating you :p

@@IamKley Just want to say to anyone in the future who reads that comment -- any form of bleeding is panel-dependent. Means you can get screwed with a bad monitor, or you won't. I'm just about to return some other IPS monitor of mine because it had a slightly faulty panel.

I have bought it, and the bgr has turned out not to be a problem for me personally. Picture quality is great, colours are vibrant and the gaming experience is excellent. If you can live with some of it's minor drawbacks then I would fully recommend this monitor given it's very competitive price point.

Honestly it's performing better than lg 83a, the backlight bleed, contrast, color accuracy is better. Only downside is the bgr layout(I don't know why is it so hard to make the text rendering work, you can flip any tablets and the text are just fine), and the black equalizer is terrible on this monitor, but there are work arounds

Please do not buy this monitor if you do any text related work!
I bought it after watching this video (over G27Q) and I am returning it after 2 weeks of getting red eyes and headaches every time I work, read, write. It is an amazing monitor (gaming is awesome), but text clarity really is absolutely awful (google BGR text) and I can't see how this can possibly be recommended also as a work monitor. ClearType won't solve the issue for a lot of apps, pdfs, chrome, text in pictures, etc. Yes, you can flip it, increase text size, etc. but doing work-arounds the second you get a new monitor is, imo, not acceptable and should not be considered something normal like a lot of comments here would led you to believe. Too bad...

    Thoughts on the BGR:
So despite seeing the complaints regarding the BGR sub-pixel layout I went ahead and bought this because it still has everything else I'm looking for and then some. Too be honest, the BGR thing didn't even bother me in the least and that's not to say people who are complaining are invalid. Different things bother different people. If you're worried you might be bothered by it, just test it on your current monitor by setting it to "Landscape Flipped" if you're on Windows 10 under Display in Settings (or Rotate 180° for MacOS under Displays although I heard MacOS handles colors differently so this might not be an issue at all) and then just rotate the monitor if you can or just look at it and see if it bothers you when you read text at various sizes.
I speculate the possible reason it doesn't bother me might have to do with the fact I use dark theme for everything but I'm not entirely sure.
The reason I'm RMAing it (Stuck Pixel and way too much light bleed):
Now for the reason I'm currently going through the RMA process! Stuck pixels right out of the box that wouldn't go away after using methods to get them unstuck. However, there's another reason. At 05:44 in the video there's the mention of Black Uniformity. As stated in the video "Of course, this can vary between units" Now I know pretty well that IPS panel displays are a bit more likely to have things like light bleed, IPS glow (go figure), and it's kind of a game of chance where the odds are, you're likely going to get one with light-bleed it's only a matter of whether or not it's going to be bad enough for you to notice or care. My model in particular was, pretty bad. Making almost anyone I sent pictures of it to visibly and audible cringe. It had two massive orange blobs at the bottom corners of the screen that would show up even when it wasn't all that heavily dark and would show up pretty clearly. Since one of the added benefits for this monitor was to utilize its massive color gamut above SRGB verging close to full Adobe. To have shades of dark grey and black (or darker colors in general) show up orange inside of large blobs that take up a large portion of the screen almost completely defeats that benefit! It also doesn't help that I happen to want to use my "gaming monitor" for gaming where unless the game is exclusively bright and colorful you will see orange blobs. Playing RDR2 in first person mode during the daytime sequences would still have discoloration visible. Reminding me of my childhood years where I did the big dumb and took a magnet to my CRT monitor. This is unacceptable in my honest opinion. So yes, even if it didn't have any Stuck or Dead pixels I would have likely still been sending it back.
    Advice before buying this monitor:
So if you think you want this monitor, certainly test switching your system to BGR by rotating your display by 180° and if you're okay with that. Then, try and see if you can buy it in a physical store. See if you can ask to take it out and test it. Go through some websites that help you check for dead pixels and display an all black image to verify there is an acceptable amount of light bleed for you to put up with. Or if they don't let you do that. Buy it, take it home, and if it's still got the same problem you can return it same day at least.

I would recommend doing what @BeRad117 said to do and check the BGR on your current monitor and see if it bothers you. I did it and it was so minimal that I didn't notice it. Although BGR fuzziness of text will vary from person to person based on their own eyesight/if you wear glasses and also how far away you sit from the screen. The BGR panel turned out to be a complete dealbreaker to me. Absolutely obvious blue and red lines flanking the black letters, letters like "t" "f" "l" "j" are so blurry, it strains my eyes. Yes, ClearType fixes the problem for Windows and Office, but it doesn't work nearly as well for browsers and not at all for Adobe and literally every other software that renders text. In general, the chromatic aberrations are noticable for pictures too, for example my desktop background. Gigabyte really did a shitty job putting that god awful BGR panel in there, I'm surprised reviews aren't emphasizing on it more. And I don't believe I have superhuman vision or am biased or anything, I only learned that BGR is a thing after I started researching why the text is so ugly. Absolutely would not recommend the M27Q, I returned it after 2 days of eye torture.

      @docmars 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@ExpertAssass1n The M27Q has been great so far! Only a couple small gripes but not deal breakers:
      1. Switching between input sources while the monitor is in standby is a huge pain because its so quick to sleep itself when it can't find a signal, so you have to be very quick to choose another input source. Otherwise you have to be on one that's already putting out a signal. Most of the time you'll be switching using the dedicated KVM button. In my case I'm using 3 PCs so I occasionally switch sources manually.
      2. The BGR subpixel layout (rather than RGB) looks strange when you've been using RGB all your life, and operating systems have designed text smoothing to take advantage of an RGB layout, so text can appear a little too sharp unless you make some adjustments to monitor sharpness and your OS's font settings (ClearType on Windows, and some third party tools on Mac I believe).

I bought this monitor almost 2 months ago so i can say a few thinks. My previus was 144hz Iiyama TN monitor. The colours are a lot better. When i go to job where i have my old monitor my eyes cry.
I use this monitor for gaming and surfing true internet like youtube, twitch, reddit and i think that's what for this monitor was build.
One of the annoying thinks is the button for turning off the monitor and how its working. Sometimes you need to click it few times to turn it off. I do that because if you dont turn it off, the led lamp will blink all the time and its annoy me. The position of button is crap because i have 2 monitors on vesa putted together and to turn it off you need to limber up.
If you ask me about BGR i can't say that's not important but its depend what for you buy this monitor.
Like the auther of the the video said the black look a little bit like green and you need to watch out for ips bleeding. My bleeding is green colour so when you play horror games or watch dark movies its annoying. So if you buying it better with option to return it back and bought another copy,

If you use different programs which may have problems with BGR and no support from ClearType i would only buy it, if i have possibility to return it back.
I only use standard apps so the system windows help me a little with ClearType.
BGR may make yours eyes more tired so it can affect yours decisions.

Then connect the two computers to the second monitor like normal. You'll just have to press the KVM button on the main monitor then manually change the input of the second monitor. Hope this helps.

No monitor is dead/stuck pixels free, I have this monitor, unfortunately, two weeks after getting it I got a stuck pixel, in their warranty they specify there must be at least 3 stuck/dead/bright pixel on the screen to RMA, luckly is a stuck pixel and not a dead one, is not bad I don't really notice it, sure I would rather no pixel issues at all but the 0 pixels warranty is mainly for high end models, for Gigabyte in the Aorus models
I tried to fix the pixel but no luck, sometimes they fix on their own, for me this monitor was in my budget, so I decided to go with this model, it looks great and no issues in gaming, bleeding is in fact an issue to some extent, but again for the price and the tier it is in, is a great option for 1440p model.
FYI, HDR400 does look great (for this HDR level), after calibrating with HDR app from Windows Store + Windows setting and Nvidia control panel, after that is quite is to do some basic adjustments on each game that might support HDR.
    Great review guys!

Got myself one from Best Buy and other than a few small issues its really great value for the price (329 + tax)
My model has noticeable backlight bleed near the bottom left corner but nothing too severe as well as 1 hot pixel newar the lower center right. None of the remedies I've used has fixed it but its very unnoticeable from my preferred viewing distance and only becomes noticeable against dark static backgrounds. I won't be returning this monitor or RMA'ing it since from what I've researched Gigabyte only RMAs monitors with hot pixels if there are more than 3 and I'd rather not exchange the monitor to Best Buy and wait for the next order (this one took about a week and a half to pick up).
Other than that the colors feel really punchy and poppy which I dislike, playing around with color vibrance and gamma settings I haven't found a configuration that I liked yet but I'm still in the process of changing settings. However, in games the image looks amazing, whether it be at 60hz, 144hz or 170hz. Games look fluid and freesync does its job wonderfully and input lag particularly in 60hz titles feels snappy and even lower than my previous 1080p/60hz monitor which had 9.6 ms of latency. While I would've preferred a 24" 1440p high refresh rate monitor, those don't really exist however I'm plenty satisfied with it even with its flaws albeit I could go without.

    • @zhenya7992
      @zhenya7992 3 ปีที่แล้ว

I bought both and ended up with the M27Q. What really killed it for me with the dell was the poor contrast ratio and bad colors our of the box. The dell made it really difficult to see in darker areas of my games. The motion performance was phenomenal but I just struggled to make out details in shadows and low light areas Details really blended together. Poor color calibration out of the box on the DELL too. Whites looked yellow and a lot of others have reported this issue. \
The m27q has much better contrast and slightly worse motion control but in the end I decided to stick with the m27q due to its noticeably superior contrast and really nice colors out of the box. No calibration needed using the SRGB mode and then a modified FPS mode for gaming. (warzone, battlefield, etc). Pixel response/motion is not quite as good though, but at high FPS its still very good. Research the blurry text issue because that turns off some people. its really minor imo and cleartype settings with SRGB mode looks great for text clarity. Overall i'm very happy with the Gigabyte M27Q.
      Dell contrast - approx 850:1
      M27Q contrast - (almost 1200:1) - I can tell the difference easily

Hi, I bought it 10 days ago, in the price range of 400 € it is the best in terms of performance / color coverage / price.
Unfortunately, all this is not free from painful notes. It seems very common on this model the presence of blacklight bleeding + glow decidedly accentuated in the lower left corner, just do an online search, this leads me to think that it is not a coincidence, but is therefore caused by the assembly itself.
My panel is perfect, zero dead pixels, but it has excessive bleeding + glow (orange) in the lower left. Since bleeding is unfortunately a common flaw on ips, and since apparently on this specific model the lower left corner seems to be the weak point, I will definitely keep it.
RTINGS I wanted to ask you, does your model examined for the review also have this sore point in the lower left corner? Thanks.

Why don't you make a side by side comparison video between 2016 vs 2020 OLED?
It will help many users to upgrade to newer TVs.

Your secondary monitor will have the BGR text-layout force applied, because Windows handles multi-monitor setups with mixed pixel-layouts in an improper way.

The M27Q-P is just an upgraded version of the M27Q. It’s better calibrated out of the box, it’s using a LG panel instead of a Sharp panel. It covers 98% of DCPI instead of 92% on the M27Q. Because it’s using a LG panel the contrast ratio on it is slightly lower than the Sharp panel’s but that may or may not be noticeable to you. It’s just a slightly upgraded version of the M27Q that’s all.

Get a vesa stand, turn it 180 degrees to have RGB orientation during Work, then turn it normally for gaming with great Response time and Low input lag. Easy fix if it really bothers you and you are willing to take half a Minute once a Day to change the setup. However, unless the Text is really small, at 1440p it shouldn't be a Problem most of the time anyway.

    Hey, question!
Does the M27Q have built-in speakers? I know it’s a simple question but I’m finding nothing but conflicting answers. The monitor description doesn’t technically state it has any, but numerous reviewers on Amazon make reference toward speakers.
It’s such a tiny problem but I just can’t find an objective answer. The presence of speakers is important for me (just personal preference) to the point I’m torn between the M27Q and the TUF VG27AQ1A.
Thanks to RTINGS and/or anyone who can help!

    • @RTINGSdotcom

No, it doesn’t have built in speakers! In the future you can actually find this information in our reviews on our website. Scroll to the bottom of the review and check out the “additional features” section. First one is “speakers” with a yes or no!
