Climate Destination Regions: The Big Three

  • For our first video of 2023, I put together this bit to address the most common type of question I get on the channel. Get a general idea of the climate and capacity of three decent, semi-affordable regions where you might move, and see what kind of housing you can get there for under 250k.
When you watch this, don't think I'm saying everyone should move! Check out your state level outlook. Especially if you've got a good community around you, most folks, it's better to dig in and build resilience where you are.
If you want to get a more detailed outlook for a particular area, I suggest checking out my state level videos. Their descriptions have links for sources where you can access interactive maps and verify info for yourself. Or email me & I'll get you what you need.

I have spent countless hours without a direction, navigating through what seems opinion based news reports that have conflicting information and top 10s with cringe jokes, that finding this just gives me the deepest joy. Thank you so much and I'm looking forward to the breakdown of the major cities in these regions.

I wouldnt be surprised if some of the towns in eastern Washington begin to boom and grow due to spill over from the big cities like Portland and Seattle. The cost of living and crime seem to be quite a problem lately from what I have heard. Something similar has happened already in California where people in the bay area have fled to the central valley and other places due to the high cost of living.

this wasn’t in the video, but a while back I think there was some discussion about sky islands/plateaus: are they comparable to the Big 3 zones in terms of water and climate resilience?

I have reservations at Wenatchee for the Dead and Co shows. It will be cool to check it out.

Already seeing winter in upstate New York changing besides Buffalo and the tug hill region the entire state has had below average snow and above average temperatures today is the first day in almost 2 weeks that feels cold

Will the rate of change for temperature/precipitation be uniform throughout the next 27 years or will it be front loaded/back loaded?

This was wonderful! 👏🏻 Does that preferred stretch of the northeast include coastal Maine? I hear conflicting reports on whether sea level rise will be a significant issue there or not.

Great video as always. Maybe in the future you can do another 3 regions that are a good destination such as the great plains or rocky mountain regions. Keep up the good work 👏
