I’ve been a Vaush & Destiny fan for a while, but the biggest difference is that Destiny will state Vaush’s positions incredibly accurately, while Vaush will blatantly misrepresent Destiny to an absurd degree. it’s really hard to witness that kind of bad faith and take anything else Vaush says seriously, and it’s only been getting worse.

After months of watching multiple Vaush videos a day, I still thought this "Destiny" character was a girl. He absolutely never shows first-hand Destiny to his audience - probably because he knows he's a parody of Destiny himself, and they'll just leave like I did when they find that out. Probably also why he sounds exasperated & parodies his perspectives - so you feel like this Destiny girl is intolerable and not worth looking into.

Imo the absurd stuff he says is just a product of his insane ego and self-importance. He probably believes something just because he said it. I’ve met a few people like that before and they can convince themselves of anything by stretching the truth a little each time they consider something. Their version of reality drifts further and further from the truth because they keep assuming their own most recent conception/analysis of something was flawless (since it came from them)

@@eeyun5279 I was always aware of this saying but it wasn't until recently that I really started to believe it. I used to think that most people in the politics space were opportunists who were knowingly embracing lies. I thought it was especially true of right wing, Fox News viewers.
But the last 3 years has made it all-too-clear that left wingers are just as bad... maybe even worse, at this point. However, I started to realize that all these people are basically just too stupid and lazy to form their own opinions. They have also been so hooked in to their cable news narrative that they truly feel like they are obligated to help defeat the other party and it makes them super vulnerable to clouded judgment and denial.
I think between the 2020 election and the Rittenhouse case, there is ample evidence that partisan politics is on par with being a brainwashed cult member. And I don't mean that as insult. I just think that as a species, we are way dumber than I originally thought. At this point, I am of the opinion that we are just sophisticated apes that have become a little too civilized and evolved.

I always find it baffling how Vaush gets away with just being a Destiny clone, just a lot more watered down and palatable enough for most lefty spaces (but heck, who knows now a days till when he gets "exiled" from the left with the recent flack he's gotten from popular internet lefties as of late)
Like, Vaushs' strat after gaining a decently size community was to backstab Destiny and board on the "shit on Destiny" train to look "morally superior" since Destiny is the forever "bad guy" for the left. But now with Destiny gone, internet lefties looking towards taking down Vaush since they feel they can handle him better. And funnily enough, since Vaush doesn't have the "shit on Destiny" card to fall back on when he's getting the lefty shit flinging his way, he just has to put up with it.
Also what's fucking funny/frustrating is hearing Vaush complain the more radical spaces of the internet left give him undeserved shit flinging his way just for "keeping it real" and calling out the BS of the left but to then turn around and continue on to say "DESTINY IS AN UNHINGED DANGEROUS MASK OFF RIGHTY WHO NEEDS TO BE STOPPED" is fucking mind boggling. I'm new to the US debate bro communities, and Vaush was the first one of you that I came across that impressed me. I saw a few of his videos and initially thought that he was a bit arrogant and annoying, but youtube pushed more vids my way and I saw a few conversations/debates of V where I thought "Hey, this guy really has something", and became a fan. The history filtered through a little bit and I became aware that he came out of your community and heard him saying that you were good once, but had gone off the rails and were basically insane now. I didn't take that as read (I'd never seen any of your discussions) but didn't really care, and just thought "OK, this Destiny guy's probably a bit dodgy". But after a while, I decided to watch a one-on-one discussion between you two on Vaush's channel - from late last year, I think : a 3 hour one that he labels as "3 hours of pain and " or something along those lines. I was expecting to agree with Vaush mainly, but was quite surprised to find you (Destiny) sounding more convincing, making better arguments, and coming across as the better debater. One thing that struck me was that he was trying to dismiss hypotheticals that you brought up and say that you were trying to bring up crazy ideas to justify your insane points, where I'd just before watched his dabate with NonCompete, where the argument was all about dismissing NC as an idiot for not being willing or able to engage with his (Vaush's) hypotheticals. I was happy to laugh at NC's attempted arguments to dismiss the value of hypotheticals (and his freaking and ducking out at the "Jews did have disproportionate influence..." comment). But I honestly couldn't see how V's dismissal of D's hypotheticals seemed that different in this new discussion. I went away a little disillusioned. I started watching Destiny debates and discussions on yt and was really impressed. I'm not really a centrist and, by inclination, am much more aligned with Vaush's political viewpoint. But, just for the strength of the conversation, as well as the humour and personality, I found that I much preferred watching Destiny material than Vaush output. And then with the fallout from the JK Rowling stuff and the "Fortress arc", I started to find Vaush insufferably egotistical and arrogant again (without a Destiny-level sense of humour and at least partial self-deprecation to alleviate it) and very hard to watch anymore. I noticed too, that some of his takedowns of other people's videos are terrible (though I often DO feel quite negatively about the person whose vids are being slammed), where V plays a few lines of the person starting to make some point, and then pauses, has a good laugh and then goes into a long monologue about what this idiot is going to say next. He doesn't after that play very much of the continuation from the actual video. He's just so optics oriented, and so worried about not always being seen to have the best take on something - even when it's a bit of a snap-judgement. I can understand how hard it must be as a big content-creator - and a smart one - to occasionally come across as having been a bit hasty and silly, and to want to avoid that. Everybody's only human. But Vaush takes this WAY too far IMO, having watche more and more of him on youtube. So, I'm a Destiny-simp now. Until my new debate-bro hero makes an inexcusable faux-pas and then embarrasses himself while trying to minimise it. Then I'll just jump ship and try to find excuses for my misplaced allegiance. I'm only human too :-)

It could be as simple as a friend purposely making a bad retelling of a movie and its scenes to make their friend who hasn't watched it think It's bad and to ward them from watching it. Not to mention omitting things that make the movie sound good. Weirdly enough, people do this a lot in the video game critique community. It's a pretty common model for alternative media pundits. They first tell you what to believe and they make sure you know what you should take away from whatever they are talking about before they show it. They really want to implant their ideas into the viewer before they show them the original event or any opposition view.
TYT, Kyle, Crowder, Shapiro all do this heavily. It's not just them though, even normal channels like Dpak does it a lot where they first "break down the issue."
I think it's just a common method of conveying a message that makes the audience more amenable to your pov, people will naturally try to search for their take in whatever is shown to them. So either they'll see it and think "Oh yeah! His analysis is right, that's exactly what's going on here!" Or it'll be "I don't really see it, I don't think I can draw that conclusion."
The format evokes very strong agreement, encourages the audience to think like you, while also dulling dissent. It's a very powerful tool to build arguments with, especially in a prepared video format that you can't put too much effort into writing a script.

    • @Moldylocks
      @Moldylocks 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Alternative media do this yes, but also main stream media unfortunately! Media is almost always one way communication (similar to propaganda) but back in the days people could actually write comments to articles online, maybe to correct or share a dissenting view, but nowadays everything is behind a paywall with comments locked, so they don't have to care about people's opinions or being truthful, they got their subscribers paying to write what they want to hear, regardless if it's true or not.
Just like TYT manufacture racism in every single video they make, the mainstream does the same with sexism, racism and the other buzzwords. The problem is sadly a lot bigger than just alternative media. The alternative media just copies what the MSM is doing, not the other way around.
Like you mentioned, people don't generally search for truth, they search to confirm what they already believed. When you know this, you know how to divide and conquer.

I was a pure vaushite up until a week ago. Part of what made me watch destiny was realising that vaush copies a ton of destiny's mannerisms, which seems a bit odd for someone who allegedly doesn't think about destiny at all. And then looking at the philosophy arc stuff, which appears to be where Vaush's philosophy takes originate from (prior to this I assume he just read too much Wikipedia like me) was particularly interesting.
I also happened to be going through a time where I was deciding that I relied too much on streamers to make takes for me, and that I needed to start developing my own moral framework (else I would just permanently change positions based on whatever the last person I heard said). Destiny's content seems more aligned with that ideal than Vaush's.

Vaush also engages in broad defamatory characterizations about Destiny, and I don't see that with Destiny. And he defends Vaush when takes about him are bad. For Vaush, he just uses Destiny drama to support broad defamatory characterizations: Destiny is deranged, moving to the right, etc. I don't think Destiny is moving right, he is just more willing to criticize the ideas on his own side, and not just personalities like Vaush does.
I just don't get why Vaush does this. Destiny explained this, he wants to be bigger than Hasan... Then what? Why? What does this get you? I guess the total wealth in the world can always increase, but clout is finite. Clout is a zero sum game.

I mean, i kinda have to think that, because if not I'd have to think that Destiny is also manipulating his audience since they have both given very biased views of what the other says or does.
For example, the manifesto and (obviously) destiny have some weird reaches into some of the takes Vaush has, like the thing about "should lefties live by their principles" which is presented in a way that REALLY asumes the worst about his take.
So what am I to think?, that those misrepresentations are the product of a careful, manipulative strategy?, or a product of an internet relation gone wrong?, I've been long enough on the internet to at least start with the asumption of the former, and I don't think that either really deserves such a treatement to be honest.

I use him to better my arguments. I’ve never moved an inch to the left and I’ve been listening for years.

Is Destiny is just now realizing that Vaush has been mischaractererizing his takes?

The issue is that Vowsh fans don't like reality, so I doubt they'll even watch a video highlighting all the shit he has done/is doing.

wasnt this one of Noah's criticisms lol, that Vaush doesnt really take the time to understand the stances he is "against", he just paraphrases and then makes his own stance. It seems like Vaush does this the most with Destiny, but it is pretty clear whenever he talks about Black Separatism and Black Nationalism. He has no idea what he actually talking about, instead he just makes blanket statements like "Black separatists are Nazis", based off a really vague understanding of what Black Separatists are, and believe

His fans wouldn’t listen in good faith and agree with you anyway lol to be fair. You’re actually mean quite a bit so idk if someone in the center would definitely listen to you instead. I don’t like you but I listen cause you’re the original. I don’t like lesser copies of a thing. Like part 2 of a movie or a song remake usually it’s terrible

Imagine the number of Vaush fans that hate Destiny but haven't even seen what he looks like or what his voice sounds like. That is how bad the echo chamber is I imagine

Destiny sure does sound like an upset ex-partner. Does the guy have nothing better to do?
Vaush is in decline(?), and all because he stopped employing Destiny’s superior logic & takes, foolishly thinking he found a better alternative by sucking up to a new BF, Hasan-but actually he still knows secretly that Destiny offers the superior logical framework and so he covertly employs Destiny’s slightly modified methods & tactics to...turn it, in vain, against Destiny?
One key piece of damming evidence is Vaush making a statement similar to Destiny’s tweet but instead incrementing a stated number by one? Damn-talk about a smoking gun! You sure got ‘im!
I think I understand why Vaush doesn’t bother watching Destiny’s content. All Destiny seems to do, going off this video, is schizo-post and make gripes just like a butt-hurt ex-lover would make. For Vaush to fully engage would be a complete waste of time-as I just verified for myself after watching this video.
Keep on coping, Destiny & dggers.

You may have a point, but we are still in the outlining phase. Having watched both content creators for some time now, though, Destiny may have more evidence than you realize. Let’s wait until the manifesto comes out.
