imagine if we took the quantum entanglement of Schrödinger's cat and applied a non-Euclidean tensor transformation to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, we'd realize that by integrating the gravitational constant into a Bose-Einstein condensate, the Higgs boson would essentially warp the spacetime curvature, leading to a fractal bifurcation of dark matter into hyperbolic tachyons. This would inevitably cause the Planck length to undergo superposition, resulting in a recursive flux capacitor oscillation at the singularity of a black hole. And that's how you get 3.14159 multiplied by the speed of light equaling the square root of infinity.

Most of this podcast feels like Terry is the special child, Joe is the parent, and Eric is the teacher or school guidance counsellor. They are enabling a mental case, and for the most part are handling him with kid gloves, trying not to crush his special soul. 🙉
They are enabling a platform (Rogan's podcast) that will invite anybody on the show to boost viewership and engagement and will not sufficiently challenge the claims of the guest if that will also boost engagement. Either that or Rogan is just ignorant of many of the subjects brought to his show by guests and thinks "just discussing the issues" is all he really needs to bother about. He almost studiously keeps himself unaware of whether the issues have been sufficiently discussed already by people who know a lot more than he does.
At the end of the day, Joe is exploiting a mentally ill person for personal gain. He lets Terry make a fool of himself for the whole world to see just because it's profitable. And Eric used the opportunity to promote himself and his anti-establishment "academia bad" tripe.

I watched his first podcast, and his most recent. He's the EXACT same curious guy! But yeah, he's an absolute idiot. So, I'm curious....if he's an absolute idiot, what does that make you??
Rogan isn't an absolute idiot and when he doesn't know something he is willing to say he doesn't know something. He also tends to ask good questions and knows how to listen. This puts him well ahead of most people, even intellectuals when the rubber meets the road in real life. These traits are part of why he is successful and I literally don't think you can be stupid and be a comedian. It'd be exceedingly rare.
Musician here: what he says about 'the key of E is 43Hz' is absolutely nonsensical, the key of E, just played in 1 octave, contains contains 7 DIFFERENT frequencies. Not to mention the essentially infinite amount of octaves and therefore frequencies. He doesnt even know what a 'key' is in music, and i dont get the idea he even knows what Hz means in relation to a produced pitch. I teach primary school kids who know more about frequency and musical keys than this.
The frequency of the E above middle C is about 329.628 Hz. The closest "E" to 43Hz is 1/8 of that original value; about 41.207 Hz. What am I supposed to think when Terry talks about 43 Hz? How does that relate to the visible spectrum of light which involves frequencies greater than 10^14 (100 trillion) Hz? Only frequencies near the visible spectrum are used in spectrometry. I am not sure his supporters understand how made up some of this stuff turns out to be. Assuming that Terrence were correct when a conventional scientist says that he does not understand how Terrence is using the terms tone and frequency, that is not a failure on that scientist's part. His terms do not make sense using conventional definitions. And that is as kind as I can be.
What he said isn't at all related to whole keys and the notes in that key, making your statement irrelevant. He claimed that "The note E is 43Hz", but with E1 at 41.2Hz and F1 at 43.65Hz, Terrence's 43Hz is either a very sharp E, and sounds spine chillingly awful, or a slightly flat F (not as offensive). It's most certainly not an E, and I bet he doesn't even know there are more than one E and at octaves apart which is related to keys, but there are 12 notes in an octave 7 whole notes and 5 sharps or flats; a going up or down the scale thing, down written as flat (b), and up as sharp (#), so a C# can also be expressed as Db, Gb as D#. For reference: The lowest musical note is C0 at 16.35Hz, which is lower than the average hearing range of 20Hz to 20,000Hz, but if you can't hear it, you will feel it. E0 is at 20.6Hz. Not sure exactly where "The Brown Note" is, but avoid it at all cost!!!

Exactly. But NDT wasn't hypocritical in the slightest. He was very polite and gentle in his dismissal of Terrence's "theories". He also complimented Terry on his art sincerely, as did Eric as well though.
Appreciate how professor Dave pushed back on Eric as much as Terrence. Not to belittle him, but Terrence needs help, honest professional help. Eric has no excuse.
It's a big problem that, to the scientifically/mathematically illiterate in the audience, Eric's flexing will sound just the same as Terrence's drivel.
I think TH has acalulia: due to either brain injury or congenital defect you simply can't perform basic mathematical tasks - addition, subtraction, multiplication and division. That alone isn't a problem he could just use calculators. But he needs to be a genius and innovator, apparently, so he's trying to make things make sense to him in a way that revolutionizes math and therefore science. Since science may use math but math does not use science he has a problem, because he thinks they're more intertwined than they are.
Yeah I don't know what Eric expected to happen if he just said, Terrence you're delusional and you have to stop it or somebody is going to commit you.... I thought Eric did a great job diplomatically dismantling "Terryology". He told him very kindly that his arrogance was a slap in the face to those who dedicated their lives to understanding these things, told him to quit teaching, he explained basic math to him, he told him that a vast majority of his theories were "bath water" and threw him a bone "baby" by way of complimenting his models. I really thought it was a good reality check without being cruel. The thing that blew my mind was the fact that no one delineated the clear difference in the metric system and the library cataloging system. I left a comment as soon as I saw that!
Eric wasn't effective at all. While admittedly not enabling Terrence completely, he desperately tried to coddle both Terrence and Joe's audience and arguably failed to get through to either. He did the absolute bare minimum. Why would he go out of his way to compliment his nonsensical models? Neil deGrasse Tyson did it too, and it was just as unnecessary. Blowing unearned smoke up a narcissist's ass only risks enabling them further.
@WonkaIndustries I understand your point. From a practical standpoint, I don't see how he could have shut him down any harder while still retaining the flow of the episode. I thought he struck a good balance between staying true to himself, being kind to Terence, and providing entertainment for the podcast. After all, if he was obnoxiously direct, we wouldn't have another 3 1/2 hours of grade A entertainment.

He shows multiple signs of psychosis, so your description is quite apt. It's disgusting behaviour from Rogan though

I was literally shouting that at the screen when I saw it! The guy is batshit!
Thank you !!
