It was a "First Strike Ration" before there was an FSR...it was basically meant for initial combat situations, where an IMP wasn't practical.
I'm sorry, but if you're going to include hot chocolate, you also have to include coffee. How are we going to make Steve's patented Army Mocha without coffee?

These were available in the 90's, not the early 2000's....they had 3 menus, and I've had all 3 back in my CF days..the menus were beef jerky, pepperoni(kinda like small Slim Jims), and freeze dried cheese....Hero Bros made the jerky and pepperoni sticks, and was a crappy brand of gas station jerky/meat products, but much more palatable, and more desirable than the cheese.

What a great on-the-go selection of energy boost snacks. With the bonus of a hot drink if you have the chance to make a mini fire. One that we could make up from off the shelf items, too!

Interesting. Would love to find one of these. Kind of ironic that I am Canadian and can only find Canadian rations for sale on US sites and pay more than double the ration cost for shipping. Those fruit bars are great. The overall meal looks tasty thanks for the great review
Kahlest, They only cross 1 border, and they cost $40.00 plus, for single imp here in the states.?? U.S. MRE'S, can buy $5- $10 ?? Granted Canadian is better quality, but for single meal, well,LOL. Peace, John.

The fruit bar looks like the meal bars that the back of the train people were fed in Snowpiercer.
Glad to see you back at it friend!! That is an interesting looking ration. I was unaware of this type. I am used to seeing the white bag IMP'S . I agree with you on the Canadian hot beverage bags completely. Glad the jerky was easy to chew. Usually as tough as shoe leather, LOL. Orange flavored cranberries???? Great lightweight ration!!
