Nice been looking forward to this one. "Improved" I know some of the older ones had the meat bars, why did they stop making those? With the lemon iced tea you could do that with hot water right? Those cereal bars look good. I like that they added the dessert bar. A nice boost to morale. Thanks for the great review.
I don’t wish to disrespect the Canadian decision makers but this makes more sense to me than a container of jelly sweets, I’m sure they have good reasons that I’m unaware of though. Thanks for the comparisons and the kids are lovely I enjoyed this review very much.
shearerslegs thank you! I agree completely. The components in here are better for energy longevity. The Canadian is purely simple carbohydrates whereas this one contains more protein and fat which will last longer. Plus the variety breaks up the monotony.

Those bars look pretty waxy. I’m guessing that’s due to the fat components.

Always found it strange that these rations never come with water purification tablets
Most of those pressed sugar candies are actually dextrose and not sucrose.

Dave Fried I found mine at an army surplus here in Tulsa. You can find them on eBay occasionally, but they’re overpriced.
What does wintergreen taste / smell like? we don't get anything flavoured with it in the UK.
a creamy, mild, peppermint/menthol like flavor

I asked you few days ago are you sure this is modern issue and you never replied, maybe it went to spam because I posted a link in a comment. I asked on mreinfo too, but it seems no one have a clue is this modern issue or not.
Crombat Rations I didn’t see your comment! I’m sorry. This is 2011. To my knowledge, this is the most modern version of the general purpose survival ration
I asked because we had survival pack from 2013, differently packed and was given to us by US pilots here in Croatia back in 2016. Google isn't much helpful so I thought you had some informations what version is used today. "Improved" would have been a bigger tin with matches. I really hope it comes packaged in a mess tin like the RAF survival ration. Otherwise someone has seriously dropped one.
And water purification tablets.

No point. There is nothing to carry water in. Which makes the drinks rather pointless. Whoever has done the redesign seems to have forgotten that the basic premise is that the only think the survivor has is the ration.
