Probably because few food items are as odd as an entire cheeseburger in a can.
you've satisfied a curiosity that I've carried with me for YEARS, possibly decades considering I fist saw a canned cheeseburger while with friends in a store in high school. I always thought it would come out like a soggy gelatinous mass of gummy bread and char-painted "meat product." The trekking burger actually looks decent enough that I would consider trying it. Thanks mate!

Matthew Modine called and said he wants to work with you on the new MRE soap box drama series titled: Thermostabilized Retort Regret. I sub "Atomic Shrimp" and he always uses a can opener with pull tab tops for a really flush edge, plus a can opener to the bottom and just slide that puppy out.

Man that was an interesting comparison. Guess you really can't judge anything by its looks... woulda thought as good as that looked it'd tasted better! Surprised the trekking burger won as it doesn't usually get good reviews. Thanks for putting your tastebuds and gut on the line for us gusto. I liked the trekking burger much better than the other one too. But I popped them out of the can, wrapped in a paper towel and microwaved for 30 seconds.

The paper liner made the Burgertastic much easier to extract from the can. I would've thought it would taste better than the Trekking Burger.

BTW, you need to learn the magic of using a can opener on both sides of stuff like this and just push the "food" out. (Note I put the word "food" in quotes... :D)
Backroad Junkie honestly, the trekking burger isn’t bad at all. I’ve had much worse.
I was weirdly intrigued by these - maybe if there was parchment paper between the bun/burger/additional stuff it might hold up better? That said it would be a complete faff to get separated stuff out and construct your burger. If I was starving I'd eat one...

If you puncture the bottom of the Trekking Burger can the burger comes out a lot easier. Part of the problem is the melted cheese sticking to the side of the can. I found more like four or five minutes is enough to warm things up without fusing everything together. I don't have the cans now since I ate them both, but I think both of them are fully cooked, so warming to taste is all you really need.
I came to the same conclusions as you. Although I could taste the cheese and other condiments better on the Burgertastic, the flavor of the meat was more bland than the Trekking Burger. I do think that weird pink look on the Burgertastc patty is some kind of coloring to make it look more like a medium rare patty. The Trekking Burger would look better if it was in the same size can as the Burgertastic since it comes out more squashed looking than the Burgertastic offering. Still, either of these would be like manna from heaven three days into the Pacific Crest or Appalachian trails. Just the ides you can eat any kind of burger two or three days from your next supply point would really lift the spirits after nothing but freeze dried food. Good job on the video this time not burning anything up. :-) My only advice would be to cut the heating in half next time you have one of these and see if it doesn't come out better.
I got a dozen Trekking Burgers on sale for $49.99 to add to my emergency stash from an ebay seller who appears to be long gone. He also had black bean burgers, but by the time I went back to try some of them, he had closed up shop. A company called Yoders also makes burgers in a can but, at $150 per dozen (!), I didn't waste a lot of time looking into them. My problem now is I keep sneaking them when I wank a snack. I take everything out of the can and then take every thing off the burger, heat up the meat and bun for 45 seconds in the microwave, then plop the cheese and some real tomatoes and onions on them, along with some horseradish mayo. Let it sit for a couple minutes and the cheese melts just fine, especially if you add an extra piece of medium sharp cheddar because, hey, why not? Pretty darn good for coming from a can, and way better than most of the frozen burgers.
@Dargon Group Probably "delicacy" is a bridge too far, but it's pretty tasty if you make it the way I described. Not quite as good as just boiling it in the can, but it can sure satisfy your craving for a burger when your on the trail and far away from one. In my younger days, I spent most of one summer hiking the Pacific Crest Trail. I hiked 11 miles out of my way just so I could detour into a little town and get a burger. Actually two burgers, and I think I stuffed another one in my pack for later. :-)
So you don't potentially cut yourself, before ripping the last of the can top, bend it back flat once or twice, the metal will yield and rip off once you pull it up again. You should leave about 2 cm of metal for it to work properly.

Mmmmmmm, yum, I love the Burgertastic/Dosen burgers, lust after them in the middle of the night when I'm hungry. Never tried the Trekking burger, need to try one urgently, help, where can I locate one, living in UK.......might collapse with burger hunger...............

Hello there. I am a huge fan of you guys RC Gusto Steve1989 Gundog and Stckyfingaz. I have watched all of your videos. And I have decided I want to do what you guys do so I'm an up and coming MRE reviewer. I wanted to ask you guys if you could come together and perhaps donate or sell some good rations.
