  • Pretty, Well built, Sound Great and pricey [amzn.to/1dKkQPl]. These are the Ferrari cans you show off at Daytona beach. These are the headphones you wear out to impress girls by how sophisticated you are. Under-stated and reeking of exotic materials and craftsmanship.
    If you need fashion cans that sound good, these momentums are one of your best options.

      So funny I was just walking from my bedroom with these on for the first time and I noticed it, sounded like a whooshing sound to me, then I watch this review and he's talking about. Not sure if it's the headband, I was thinking it sounded more like a small opening in the cup at the headband. Anyways it's a showstopper for me if it persists.

    Best wireless headphone I've ever had. Had em for 5 years and they still make me happy whenever I use them.

    • @ayporos
      @ayporos 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I've had them for a while now too.
      Gotta say, not impressed with the headrest.. it's basically just 2 steel bent rods running over the top of your skull with the tiniest bit of leather for separation between the two.
      I don't know if it's because I'm bald, or because I've set them too tight, but I think I must have 2 canyons running across my skull now because of them.
      I bought them because I wanted good closed cans that didn't look too horrible.. but I definitely feel like they leaned a bit too much towards looks in favor of comfort on that aspect of the design.
      Also, the 'on/over' type of fit does feel a bit constricting.. but that may just be because I came to them from Sennheiser 595's... which still work just fine but at the end of the rail on one side a part of the plastic housing snapped off so they move loosely on the rail now, unable to stay in place..

    these are my favorite portable headphones. The sound is overall rich and dynamic. Bass is punchy, deep and impactful, the mids are clear and right where they should be. The treble is a little dark. Cymbals sometimes sound pushed back in the mix.They could use a little more detail on top, but at least it is never harsh or grating or offensive.
    The sound of these headphones are right in my wheelhouse because they sound very much like the HD 650, which is an open back phone I really like.

    I tried the walking thing: there is a very faint sound like wind howling round the corner of a building, but it's quiet enough that even extremely quiet music would drown it out. The fact that Zeos had to get other people to check to make sure he wasn't crazy shows you it is barely audible.

      I got some momentum 1 on ears like 4 years ago for 80 bucks on woot. Still using them every time I get on a plane, which is twice a month or so. They're great headphones for travel. 4 years, thousands of hours of use and the stitching is just now starting to come out in a couple spots.

    • @blurpleunc
      @blurpleunc 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I bought the og Momentum over ear years ago (black w red cable) and I still love them. I have hesitated to upgrade to the HD1/M2 because it seems the bigger earcups changed the lush, engaging sound slightly. I may take the plunge and get the HD1 wireless since the future seems to be Bluetooth, with the ability to go wired.
      I disagree that they are intended for style or are "fashion headphones". At least I certainly didn't buy them for the looks. Some may think that is Senn's intention but they are just clean, lightweight headphones that are well-built for portability. I think it just happened that Sennheiser's best portable headphone happens to be a attractive. Now the Master& Dynamic MH40/etc I believe were built around aesthetics first. Not necessarily a bad thing, but the weight is a turnoff for a portable headphone.

    I have the first gen Momentum over ear headphones but I'm not sure how different the 2.0 are compared to the first gen. What I like about them are that they're very VERY light, which is why there's hardly any padding on the headband.

    I have these and I don't get that reverb you're talking about when moving forward. I'm not walking when I move forward though. I'm in a wheelchair and when I go full speed its much faster then someone just walking swiftly and I don't get anything like what you've described. I think perhaps its the metal band vibrating like a leaf spring form the bouncing up and down from when you're walking. I've had these for almost three years now and my only complaint is that they are not "over ear" enough for me. I wish they were slightly deeper. After prolonged use my ears are very sore.

    I've just bought these. Love them but do find the bass ever so slightly boomy, but don't mind it. The issue is that they're ever so slightly too big for my head, which isn't tiny, but it is a girl's head! Do you think the on ears have a smaller headband? Or any recommendations for a decent portable set on the smaller side?

    Hey Z, watching your video for a long time, you're one of the most entertaining audio reviewer that i've met on youtube. Congratulation for that. Kind of gheto style videos that don't look like a fucking advertising, that's great !
    I advice you to try the edifier h850 if you want to make other video on portable headphones, they are closed back with a kinda bose-ish design. They are praised a bit everywhere and are around for ... well 30€ so it should be 30 $ or so in USA. Imo, they are one of the best budget full size closed back headphones for traveling.
    Btw, just keep doing your stuff. Love the way you are always looking for the best quality for budget and don't mess around with all the hype. Cheers from France :)

    I've just bought these used in 2022 for £50.... best investment ever. They were in a perfect state, with the box and case even! I only bought a new improved cable which was £5 on Aliexpress.
    The reverberation sound when walking is true. It does get lower once changing the earpads though and I don't find it to be a problem as I use the headphones in my house and prefer IEM or even true wireless earphones at this point for going outside.

    Thanks to a Best Buy gift card, I got these for a steal! Just a little over $200. Never noticed the "wind noise" until I wore them with the fan blowing directly at me. Sound and functionality works great for me for going to school. Although I agree that the cable is a little thin, I found it to be a bit practical in the way that there is no cable noise, even when I jiggle them while walking. No noise whatsoever. I only wished the isolation was a bit better especially from the constant gorilla fest of students I pass by everyday; had to turn my volume up to 90% to barely block out noise and not tire out my ears in 3 seconds.

      Hey man I got these headphones but know nothing about powering them, they sound better through my phone than computer so I am guessing they need some sort of amp? What would you recommend so I can get the best sound out of them? Thanks

    I've had a pair for a while now and have not got the whistling woosh sound when walking in the wind. Saying that, I do have massive dreadlocks forming direct contact with the entirety of the headband.

    So three questions:
    Who is the kitty? I haven't seen it before
    Are there any more videos planned with Sandy Mayflower?
    Bonus Q: Why do you prefer the MB42 speakers upside down?

    • @ZReviews
      @ZReviews  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      joysticktroy Chewbacca is a good girl, Maybe, Maybe not (she crazy) It depends on the height they are resting. Since the 4" driver puts out more of the sound involved it sometime helps to put that at ear level.

    Huh. Just got them and did all I could to get that reverb sound people keep to be mentioning, but I've only got it very briefly, even tried go right in front of a fan and still nothing. So I guess I'm good, hahah.
    Great review though!

    I would like to see how the Onkyo | ES-HF300 measure up against these Momentum 2 in terms of sound. As closed, portable and cheaper cans ... if you dont get the oxigen free cable .. and in my opinion look less douché, just cool black steel .. ( Plus its Onkyo's first headphone... very curious ! ) Your reviews are excellent btw !

    My experience with these is that they are too shallow for my ears, and my ears aren't dumbos at all. The baffle is hard and sort of sharp, so i ended up with marks on my ears after a while. Try them out before you buy them, cause there's a lot of people online that are saying that they are big and comfortable. They have the height, width but not the depth. Just my opinion.

    helo, I would like to buy a pair of headphones with amp. Budget would be 500$. I listen to hip-hop/techno/retro wave.. i prefer bassy headphones , but i don't want mids and highs to sound like crap. I 90% of times I listen music on PC, so I don't think I need wireless, a good pair of headphones for home...Could anyone suggest anything? no trolls pls :D.

    in term of sound stage, highs and mids, and bass quality and quantity can you compare it to the m100s. Thanks

    • @ZReviews
      @ZReviews  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +john lin bass quality I vote the M100;s, quantity goes to these sennheisers. soundstage is pretty much a draw. Highs are a touch more subdued here.
