Absolutely correct. I think I would use find the ring really usefully during a formal event when I would wear a regular (non-smart) watch but still want my basic stats recorded via something like this ring.
I would be happy not losing my active days due to the days when I’m unable to wear my watch. I won’t take my watch on a slide or in sea water even if it’s capable of handling that. I’d buy this

I think you missed a final scenario for the smart ring, in that you already have a nice/expensive watch and don't want to wear two watches. I would look forward to a smart bangle. It would be large enough for long battery life and more sensors. A small strip of a screen or series of notification leds could be added to get the best of both worlds.

The ring is the best part of this release. I personally always struggle in choosing which watch I want, on the one hand i need my galaxy watch to tract all the stuff (sleep, steps, etc...) which doesn't allow me to wear a normal, stylish watch. Ring would eliminate this problem for me. Thanks for the review!

Here's what I think Mrwhosetheboss missed. The ring is appealing to people like me because it's enabling your phone to do everything the watch can do. Except I just have to pull the phone out of my pocket? Not a con for me. The pros are that I won't have a watch I need to charge, I can still get all the benefits from the censors, and the ring is more resilient.
And no notifications showing up all the time distracting you. Granted you can turn them off on a smartwatch, but still
I find watches pretty annoying to wear but i liked the fitness tracking the smartwatch gave me so the ring sounds pretty sick. I had a galaxy watch but i just stopped wearing it because it irritated my wrist and i had to charge it every day. I dont think im willing to pay $400 for a ring though

adding haptic feedback, microphone and NFC to ring would KO watch easily.
Or, for people like me who just want access to stats and want to wear normal watches because I like them.
The ring not having an nfc feature seems like a major oversight :(. It would be really convenient to pay for things or use the train by tapping the ring

Out of all the products Samsung has demoed, I think the Ring gave me the most interest. I don't need to use a bulky smartwatch to track my exercise, plus I can go swimming seamlessly and not worrying if my watch falls off.

The ring is appealing to me, I gave up using a smart watch because charging it was extra stress I dont need. The ring is much less demanding in that sense.
