The build quality of these headphones is oustanding. After 6 years of intensive use as a main pair of headphones, I only changed 1 time the cable (they provided 2 cables in the box !) and... That's all. Nothing is broke (except the little black plastic bands on the side of the headband), it works perfectly and the sound is very good *for an On-Ear* overall. I bought it for outdoor listening mainly. Paired with a little DAC (Dragonfly Black), it sounds even better, the soundstage AND the imaging are improved in the high frequencies, while the bass are more deep. For the mids, they're still recessed and sometimes I prefer using it with the InnerFidelity EQ (but it doesn't sound that good). It was worth the price only because of their great look, not as good looking as Beats headphone, but the sound was so much better that it was worth. A little issue I experienced after these years is probably the oxidization in the headphone, so when it happened (very rarely) I only heard the right channel and not the left, but I just had to play with the jack (screwing) to make it work.
Écrivain Same! I’ve had mine 6 years and a month now and they sound brilliant. It’s incredible how well built sennheiser products are, but also the quality. I’ve not got higher end headphones like the Focal Clear, but I still love these momentums and don’t feel short changed in terms of sound when switching from the clear to them for portable use. A testament to just how good they are, remarkable value!
Tyll, What a great coincidence, I had been missing hearing from you for a long time and today morning, I was just randomly looking /browsing your website and listening to your youtube videos. And guess what, Tyll comes up with a review out of the blue to make my day :) :)
They have a bit recessed treble and the mids are slightly mushy with the bass being overbearing when I first got them. I put them through quite a few hours of pink noise and now they sound fantastic. I prefer them HD25-ii and vModa XS. Overall pretty good.
I suppose all ears are different, because I consider the MOEs to be the most comfortable on-ear headphone I've ever worn. Still can't wear them as long as circumaural or in-ears, but 3-4 hours, yeah.
Very nice review I just got these for $229 at B&H Photo I was not too impressed by the sound until I tried other ones and realize how good these are I really could not hear any difference to earphones that cost $500 or more I think they are a great buy very well made and feel luxurious if you have medium to small ears don't think twice about it get it they are just a little tight for me. All my friends and family are very impressed by them they all say they've never heard music sound so clear accurate and sound this good
@JinStein In terms of on ears, they are probably the best. These are very fun headphones. My only other on ear headphone was the Aiaiai Tma 1, but the Momentum sounds so much better without being fatiguing. I only wish the ear pad were softer, hope they soften.
I got it today big discount from genuine shop here in Australia, Harvey Norman. Still shows AUD$299 discounted to only AUD$98 which is about US$70. I am loving it. Other shops are doing the same discount, JBHIFI and Dick Smith Electronics. They are quite good. I don't find them overly bassy, it's just right but a bit laid back. There's all the colours still available. Go quick, the price goes bacl to $299 on the 1st of Jan. Good luck. Oh, yeah.. i got the black one.
Thanks man awesome review.....wonder if you had a listen to beyerdynamic t51p.How do they sound and feel comfort wise in comparison to these. Both are on the ear models.cheers!
I recently got the discontinued Amperior. In one review Tyll states: "The Amperiors are the best sounding supra-aural sealed cans I've heard to date, handily besting the DT1350, V-Moda M-80, and, of course, the HD 25-1 II. I love these headphones." and in this review some truth shines through that I experienced with the Amperiors in that they are somewhat bright and strident on some tracks. (even sibilant). (to my ears) I have a hard time finding anything special about the regular over-ear'ish Momentums aswell, especially compared to some other recent full size cans. I'm not saying Tyll is the chief Ambassador of everything Sennheiser but I think Tylls inner frequency response is slightly tilted towards this company :P nonetheless I thoroughly enjoy the reviews and hope the next one is coming soon :)
InnerFidelity Hi Tyll, I already have home headphones (Ath M40x), and I need some portable headphones. I've been looking around, and can't decide between four headphones- the Sennheiser Momentum On Ear, the Koss SP330, the Sennheiser Urbanite and the V Moda M80. I may not be able to ship the Urbanite, so if it's the best option what's the second best? Cheers
Yeah, took a listen to these when I auditioned the MOEs. They were..... they were not good to my ears. The newer Marshalls were next to them, and were way better.
I'm sorry, but if you think the DT1350 lacks resolution in the treble comparably to the other models I respectfully think you need your ears cleaned :P But I suppose its all a matter of perception :)
Do u think I would be happy with these or shud I spend 100 more and go with the v-moda m100s. Both these have good reviews but I want to know which one is more enjoyable.
Hi Tyll I was curious what on-ear headphones would you recommend for primarily listening to classical music? I listen a little bit of pop and thats basically it but treble sounding bright and a good soundstage is the key factor's I'm looking into. I just got the Momentum over ears and to be honest I really do not like how the treble is laid back. Im thinking between the MOE, Urbanite on-ear, Beats solo 2, Monster DNA,(hope you review the DNA sometime). These are just headphones I might be considering please recommend any on-ear headphone for my preferences. Thanks!
I heard you can only use them for apple devices, but then i saw on a webpage that if you change the cable to a normal one it will work with other devices such as android, could you find that out for me before i buy it. thanks if you do :) :/
The on-ear momentum, over ear momentum or v-moda m100 ? I really like bass and listen to quite the variety of music ? Or rather then asking what's the best bass headphones out of them. Which is the best bass headphones out there now to listen to with my iphone at around the $400 and under mark? im 18 years old and not an audiophile
I'll give you a tiny comparison. HD25 has more aggressive treble, mids & low's not as good as the momentum's (after burn in), have to say I slightly prefer the momentum's. Hard to say if it's better than the DT1350 though, the isolation is definitely better on the beyerdynamic's and I think the mid's and high's are a bit better too but i kinda depends on the music you listen to. I prefer the momentum's for rock, metal etc.. Jazz, classical an vocals sound a bit better on the DT1350. They are a bit more expensive than the momentum's and I think sennheiser has huge sale on them now which makes them a no brainer...
ale3hs Well seeing how the HD 25 Aluminums are on the Wall Of Fame at 329$ while the Momentums aren't on 199$, I don't think Tyll agrees plus he said he likes the HD 25 a little bit better than the DT1350, not saying you or him are right (though I do agree with him) just mentioning it, since LtDanw asked him to review the HD 25 Aluminium and he has and has it on the Wall Of Fame on the website..
If I get these, I'll be using them to listen to music while walking to school. Do you think these headphones would be suitable for that purpose? I'm not too sure if it'd look too "big" on my head, which could cause kids to make fun of me if this is the case.
I would personally say the momentum. I have them and my brother in law has the solo 2's. Everything sounds a little brighter and the bass is very present but tighter. That's just the sound I prefer because I jump around genres a lot. If you do want a heavy emphasis on bass though the solo 2's will do the job, otherwise, momentums would be your best bet
sicdedworm09 I am getting Sennheisers soon and currently use Audio Technicas and have never owned Beats, so I am not a fan by any means but give the Solos 2 a listen they are a lot more balanced than these.
I normally take Tyll's word on face value but I have to disagree with this one. Do not know about the on ear but I've used the Momentum Over ear and if they share the same drivers then DT1350s have a much better resolution, better overall sound through out the spectrum, better imaging, tonality and significant improvement with amplification. The momentum has recessed mids, overpowering bass which also shadows the highs and is very sensitive mainly built for mobile devices and does not improve much with amplification. And I also do not buy the fact that MOE & M80 are better sounding than HD25 & DT1350. Waiting for my NAD VISO 50s, based on Tyll's recommendation only.
Lol, I always cringe when I see him bend those things. Just discovered yesterday that the on-ear, just like the over-ear, has the black with red version, will be getting that one soon. This video had great timing.
Honestly, you can go with either. But it depends on what you want, accurate headphones that are neutral or bass heavier headphones? Bass: M-100. Neutral: Momentum.
I have them and I can tell that the momentum have excellent quality bass, both in quantity and quality, are smooth and full-bodied. But most improtant of your sound profile is the amount of detail that can be heard, is amazing. Also look beautiful.
juan luis Quiroz guevara would you say the m100 worthy as a gaming headset with the extendable mic from the vmoda website? need to know so i could chat during online multiplayer on the ps4.
Julio Romero I personally have the m-100 with the mic and I can say that it's excellent for game use. With the bass extension it makes explosions sound nice, and you can tell where different sounds are coming from with the (pretty good) soundstage, although it isn't as extensive compared to other open headphones and perhaps the full size momentums. I use the m-100 with my computer mostly, although I know it's simple enough to use with consoles.
I found something funny the other day, ive burned my Beats Pro headphones in to the point the bass has dropped off to a decent level and for some reason they sound really good now, they are at the point there up there with the momentums and well there almost the same price and they look better and have more features so im happy to keep them, I have no need for the momentums now these sound just as good. p.s I have tested both side by side and they sound abit different momentums are slightly more warm sounding.
Wow, why are you so hostile? A single sentence paragraph is hard to read. if you don't care about what you have to say, don't post. If you do, to maximize the effectiveness of your message you need to deliver it in a format that is easily understood. For your record, I'm not fucking on or off or fucking any dick for that matter.
Eric Lin Dude its the internet there is no form of anything I need to follow, I could write anything and it would be accepted, that's the internet, this isn't a English exam, your not my teacher, sooooo fuck off with telling me how I should comment my thoughts on a video, unless your commenting about the subject of the video or my post I don't care.

It feels like its been forever Tyler.
Tyll, What a great coincidence, I had been missing hearing from you for a long time and today morning, I was just randomly looking /browsing your website and listening to your youtube videos. And guess what, Tyll comes up with a review out of the blue to make my day :) :)
For someone who knows/complains a lot about sound he could definitely upgrade his microphone.
I just purchased this headphones and your review was very helpfull. Thankx
Great review. I have just ordered these because I got a great deal on Amazon and looking forward to it.
Great review as always, Tyll
I fell in love with the green model
These headphones do sound and feel great.
Your videos and site are the best.
I've got both sets of Momentums. Different, but lovely. These replaced my m80s. They're my guilty pleasure basshead cans.
just wanted to let everyone know I have the same shirt.
They have a bit recessed treble and the mids are slightly mushy with the bass being overbearing when I first got them. I put them through quite a few hours of pink noise and now they sound fantastic. I prefer them HD25-ii and vModa XS. Overall pretty good.
Supreme sound with supreme discomfort.

Alcantara is awesome ....great review Tyll :)

Hey Tyll, loved the video!
Would you say that these are the best on ear headphone in the $100-$150 price range?
Thanks man awesome review.....wonder if you had a listen to beyerdynamic t51p.How do they sound and feel comfort wise in comparison to these. Both are on the ear models.cheers!
I bought the over-ear models partly because of your review. I would love a review of the in-ears. Any chance of that happening? Thanks in advance.
Please do a review of the RHA 750i!
I recently got the discontinued Amperior.
In one review Tyll states: "The Amperiors are the best sounding supra-aural sealed cans I've heard to date, handily besting the DT1350, V-Moda M-80, and, of course, the HD 25-1 II. I love these headphones."

These are probably the most non-neutral headphone in my quiver. Definitely a medium V shape to the sound. I love it!
Just wait until you hear the T51p, Tyll. It addresses the issues that the DT1350's have and lay's the Momentum on and over ears to rest.
There is also the all red version
Please do a comparison or a review of the think sound on1!
hey can you do a comparison of all wireless headphones and specially rate their sound quality, maybe a top 5 or top 10?
Great reviews. Never any hype.
and.. very confortable on the road too for me.
If you had to choose between these and the amperior's , which would it be?
how about the onkyo on ears and these how do they compare to eachother
What about newer in-ear momentums?
InnerFidelity
Hi Tyll, I already have home headphones (Ath M40x), and I need some portable headphones. I may not be able to ship the Urbanite, so if it's the best option what's the second best?
Cheers
im going to get some momentums the bigger one and then vmoda m-100s
I'm still waiting for the B&O H6 review, PLEASE!
Have one in and measured, not sure it'll make the cut.
Yeah, took a listen to these when I auditioned the MOEs. They were..... they were not good to my ears. The newer Marshalls were next to them, and were way better.
Tyle you referred to the DT1350 as a "great" on ear headphone.
I'm sorry, but if you think the DT1350 lacks resolution in the treble comparably to the other models I respectfully think you need your ears cleaned :P
But I suppose its all a matter of perception :)
Tyll what about the audio-technica ATH -es700?
Hey,
I think buying the Pioneer hdj 2000, is it better than the Philips Fidelio L2?
Do u think I would be happy with these or shud I spend 100 more and go with the v-moda m100s. Both these have good reviews but I want to know which one is more enjoyable.
Sennheiser momentum On ear VS Beyerdynamic T51p VS Beyerdynamic DT1350 VS Senneheiser Amperior?
When wearing these, the cable goes on the right side ... I wonder why.
Are they better than Fidelio M1?
Hi Tyll I was curious what on-ear headphones would you recommend for primarily listening to classical music? The legends says that he's still waiting for Tyll's answer.
EXACTLY WHAT I FELT WHEN I COMPARED MY V-MODA TO THE SENNHEISERS!
I heard you can only use them for apple devices, but then i saw on a webpage that if you change the cable to a normal one it will work with other devices such as android, could you find that out for me before i buy it. thanks if you do :) :/

Vmoda m100. I own the momentum over ears which are amazing for all genres. The m100s are bass heavy but are also amazing sounding for all genres
I'm torn between these, the over-ear momentums, or the HD 598...any suggestions, anybody?
me too. i need to return one. should I keep these?
please reply
Which between these headphones is better (v-moda m100 , sennhiesr momentum over ear , ath-m50x ) ???
I want help
...50x
antokat ..pro500mkII
antokat I bought v-moda m100
moayd mhd thanks dear friend. i'll try it. on amazon. :)
Will you review the HD25 alluminum? will you compare the two (momentum+Alu') to the Beyerdynamic DT1350?
Thanks!

+xTwilightWolvesx Nope....get the red one. You will look cool with it!
+xTwilightWolvesx It's dangerous to walk with headphones on.
Which has a more pleasing base experience, momentum on ears or the solo 2s?
I would personally say the momentum. I have them and my brother in law has the solo 2's. Everything sounds a little brighter and the bass is very present but tighter. Please coment the sony mdr 7506 !! . Atte joseph. ( Peru) . Thanks.
No good sounding on-ear headphone? HD 25's?
And.... momentum on ear resale price increased by 10% overnight
Lol, I always cringe when I see him bend those things.
Just discovered yesterday that the on-ear, just like the over-ear, has the black with red version, will be getting that one soon. This video had great timing.
Yeah, you could say that.
Beyerdynamic T-51p monsters these.
These or ath msr7?
Thinking the same, but this (Momentum) costs way less and is On- Ear.. but looks like it's comfy.
i came i saw, but still no m-100 comparison with the momentum? why?
Honestly, you can go with either. But it depends on what you want, accurate headphones that are neutral or bass heavier headphones? Bass: M-100. Neutral: Momentum.
M-100 is a over-ear sealed, the Momentum On-Ear is on-ear....different beast.

Point on the top of your head? Is this a review aimed at The Coneheads?
inner when you wase younger, you are the same...or him is the same of you... mick jagger. ? yes ..have somethig that resamble each others. ciao :)
I Wasn't impressed enough, sounds like a 50$ AKG headphones!
why that noise in background always on every your video. if you are audio geek it should be fixed. Such a crappy recording
