    Hi ! I want to get these next week,and currently I own a pair of Beats Pro. Do these sound better? I listen to a lot of rap music,sometimes rock and EDM,but rap 99% and that is old 90's rap.
    Do you think that I will be satisfied with these? or should I stay with Beats Pro?

    Good review, as always! How do these compare to the HD 598 Cs you reviewed? Is the mid-range tonality better? I have the 598 Cs but I always have to eq the mid-range because stock is too nasal / shouty. Is it worth paying double for the M2? Thanks

    Great review as always man but I really need your help here. Big Sennheiser fan here, HD650 are my end game headphones. Looking for portables now, should I pick up Momentum 2 or Sennheiser HD598Cs? I mainly listen to progressive rock and electronic music. I mostly care about sound quality. I hate harsh peaky treble and I really love some smooth full mids and a nice bass, basically HD650 sound signature.

    Could you review Sny MDR-1AM2? I think it comparable with this headphone

    • @CamperIV
      @CamperIV 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I've heard both, currently own the 1AM2. 1AM2 has definitely much better, tighter and stronger bass impact than Momentums, more mid-bass and less sub-bass. And it also has highs! On the Momentum, they were really relaxed, kinda like HD650. But 1AM2 has a mild u-shaped sound. Vocals were about the same on both, a bit more boosted on Momentum, but they were more organic and natural (flatter) on 1AM2. Overall the vocal quality and high quality was much better on 1AM2.
      Other than that, 1AM2 wins in comfort. But the Momentum isolates outside noise much better, so there's that. And Momentum gives you a better carrying case, with 1AM2 you get a simple pouch. Considering you can find the 1AM2 now for like 170$, which is I'd say is a great deal, it totally depends on your preferences.

    I have had these for a few years and would say this review is pretty accurate. The earcups are indeed small, so they feel nice and snug at first, but become a little claustrophobic after a few hours. Other than that, they are pretty comfy. Very lightweight and the perfect amount of clamp. I'd best describe the sound as pleasant and slightly warm (although I haven't compared them to many others). Definitely a little kick in the lower end.

      @metal571  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    • @metal571

      +1-Step Fury depends on your frame of reference, like what headphones you came from before

    • @Chase-yg5no
      @Chase-yg5no 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      To the point of frame of reference, I had heard what I considered a "slightly bass heavy" M40x, but my friend had said that it was light on bass. My preference for a brighter tone definitely affected my sense of what "neutral" actually was (the M40x being considered mostly neutral by general consensus).
      I ended up with the MSR7s as they were sort of like a K553 but with a bit more shimmer in the treble, and correct me if I'm wrong, but also perceived faster bass than the K553 (I mainly listen to fast metal, and double bass kick drums sounds awesome on the MSR7s).

    Excellent review. I like these because they are similar sounding to the HD 650, they are portable, foldable, comfortable, and classy looking.
    The mid range is hard and forward, but I have used a smiley face eq. I have had them for a couple years, and my brain has adjusted to the sound of the mid range so they do not sound as hard and woolly as they did when I first got them.
    I haven't found a portable foldable lifestyle headphone I like more, but I am willing to try it if I can find it

    Interesting review - thank you.
    I bought a pair of these BEFORE watching your review. I bought these exclusively for classical listening and editing of audio files. The headphones very comfortable and the sound is nice. I'd been using a pair of AKG K240's for the last 35 years (still work, but the head support has fallen apart).
    I looked at the Bose 35s (considering buying these or the wireless version of the Momentum 2), but decided that the price was too high, considering I wasn't going to use them away from the computer very often.
    My son uses the Bose 35 and they are very comfortable.
    Several reviews seemed to think the M2s had better sound quality than the Bose and the M2 has won some interesting awards.
    It is for these reasons that I went for these M2.
    The cable is quite short (necessary for use with mobiles) - I'm not sure how robust this cable is - so I'm going to try to source a replacement cable about 3 m long (not an extender).
    When Sonarworks produces the true-fi calibration module for these headphones, I expect the the headphones will sound even better.

    • @metal571
      @metal571  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Norman Young my goto recommendation for a closed back for mixing mastering and editing work is the AKG K553 nowadays. Much cleaner sounding driver than these things, basically no EQ needed as there's also very little coloration just in case you look for a new pair in the future

    What amplifier you use? Dynamic drivers, specially those with such LOW impedances can get really messy with high impedance amplifiers, even the iphone 6s jack's output impedance is too high for the momentums (4ohms i suppose)

    • @Juanixtec

      Magni 3. Super low output impedance. The issues this headphone has are major resolution problems. Even if the sound signature was changed via Zout, that wouldn't hurt it as much as the major lack of transparency already does at the price they charge for these

      @@metal571 You're 100% correct, I know for certain. My friend has had the M2's for about 4 years now, and I've listened to them several times. The bass presence is greatly increased on the M3's, and the soundstage is significantly wider as well. The treble feels a bit more "open" on the M3's, and the M3's feel just bit punchier in their delivery. When running both from the same source, the M3's are touch louder as well. We both prefer the sound of the M3's by a longshot, but I personally prefer the comfort of the M2's a bit more - the headband on the M3 digs into my scalp without modding. I'm very happy with the M3's though - they deliver well on what they're intended for, and I haven't had any issues with the on board tech that they have. Hope you're doing well.

    • @benjaminscello4623
      @benjaminscello4623 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Man I tried the M3s today at BB, but are they really worth 200 more? I can't try the M2s anywhere so I'd have to order them online to hear.
      Also, I'm currently listening to stuff (including phone and TV w/o amp) on my HD 280 pro (64 ohm). When I compared them my 280s sounded hollow. I'd really appreciate your feedback!
      Ps. I'd like to use these for gaming as well, so I think the M2's inline mic would work while the M3's onboard mic would not work. But if the sound is truly inferior, I'd be willing to sacrifice.

    • @RADERFPV
      @RADERFPV 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@benjaminscello4623 From a sound quality perspective alone, I'm not sure they're worth $200 bucks more. Don't get me wrong, I do strongly prefer the M3's because of the elevated yet tasteful emphasis on the lower bass range. It's very well done, and gives most songs a good "out of the box" sound without much tweaking. I'm with you, I'm mostly just using standard sources these days - spotify, some burnt tracks,, and less into hi-fi or near lossless content. I love it, but have too many other priorities these days, and got ticked of at Tidal for screwing up my account, lol. The thing is though, is that the call quality and very good ANC make it a much better long term purchase IMO. Both features work extremely well, and once you have them, you love them. I don't touch the EQ with these cans, and that's a plus as well. The upper mid's could use a little extra something, but all in all I really do the enjoy them, especially BT cans. Wow, i'm really surprised there's a $200 difference these days, yikes!

The K553 MK2 and K550 MK3 are the same headphone and they now feature a removable cable as well.

    My first experience with the Senn's headphones were with the CX300 back in the days. since then I had HD650 HD800 599 ie80 px100ii and the list goes on and on The momentum are extremely high-end sounding headphones. From build contraction
    to the sound signature.
    Highs are crisp and they have great imaging to the overall sound spectrum.
    Mids are well present. Bass & Sub Bass are not going to low but have like a "Body" to it. Well-controlled
    and beautiful sounding.
    There is plenty of soundstage that quit surprised me to a closed headphone...
    Overall - up until year 2017 they are the best close over the ear headphones that I had.
    even compared to my previous close headphones the good old HD25.
    However, unfortunately as for the comfort they are not as comfortable as many over the ear
    headphones that I had...

Because too much detail from a limited source would actually be a bad idea. These headphones will sound BETTER than a very expensive audiophile headphone from a phone source. Because the high end units will reveal TOO MUCH of the limited source.
