The beginning stuff like the mushroom, the vine, and the explosion is so that it doesn't crash when you execute the item switch to run the code. The part that makes the RAM in a specific state are the placement of the red shells.

When you eat a coin and get it before it goes in yoshis mouth, the game thinks that a sprite needs to be on yoshis tounge. So the closest sprite around is the Chuck. Normally you cant eat the chuck, so you can exploit it as you wish. What he does before he eats the chuck is hes creating memory in the game so that when you eat the chuck you 'warp' to the credits. Basically... "yo mario bowser captured me can you sa-" "BE THERE IN FIVE"
A profesional speedruner, who knows how to break the game in a lot of diferent ways and the first person to do it on console, vs some random person on twitch. Yeah, that seems unlikely.

Seth was moving pixels around in the processor's xyz plane, thus creating a chain of pixel inputs that would trick the game renderer into thinking he had beat the last level. This was thought to be only done by computers and Seth was the first human to ever achieve this glitch, although the idea was found by someone else.
The amount of people who don't understand speedruns, and are saying that just because he reached the credits he didn't beat the game (which doesn't make sense because the credits are at the END of the game.) is just ridiculous. And no, don't bring up the credits of a movie either, because this is a game, and a ANY% speedrun. He doesn't have to experience the while thing to beat the game and get a world record.

This is called any%... Look up 100% for a full game run.. But honestly the point of a speed run is to beat the game quick... Glitches 99% of the time make it quicker
