Finally! Thank you, dude! Out of the hundreds of mario vidoes i have watched, you are the only one I have heard pronounce Lakitu's name correctly! When I heard you say his name correctly, I had to rewind and listen again several times to make sure I heard you say it right. And I did. You say his name Lakitu with a long "i" sound as in spaghetti and not a short "i" sound as in hit or sit. If you only knew how badly it rubs me the wrong way hearing everyone, except for you, say his name incorrectly. I mean, how would you like it if someone always said your name wrong? I know Lakitu is just a Mario character but still. Maybe you can get through to the gamers you know and if they dont say Lakitu the same way as you and I, then school them!

The last secret exit for me was the one that leads to soda lake. But I would always skip the normal exits in Star road because I thought they were useless. It took me a while to figure out they also added to the exit score when you select a file
I remember when i was a kid and figured out the easy way to clear cheese bridge level, i still feel proud about it, yoshi and cape in that level was great
I personally think that the hardest secret is it is keeping Yoshi to the very, very very end of valley space last level before Larry we had to keep Yoshi till he hit that stone wall and have to tell the key out of it to get to the key. That’s the hardest what I think you with so many enemy that could not Yoshi off that it’s just almost impossible unless you’ve got really good man 18:54
Top Secret Area. This game and DKC 1 were the first two games I ever played. It is worth noting that, once I found that level, I went there everytime before I played a new stage (and when I had to repeat castles). Having access to this level made the game a lot more manageable for a 7-8 y/o like myself and really made me apprecite in-game secrets. This is often overlooked, but it really helps child newcomers to be able to pass the game and aleviates a lot of the difficulty of the game, without being intrusive to more experience users. Even without having played this game for over 2 decades (I really should replay it), I still remembered exactly the power ups in the stage and in which block each one was. That is how much I did that action, haha.
Fun fact! In 2 player mode, Top Secret Area won't take away your turn (switch players) like other levels do. It's also good in 2p mode because if you run low on lives, you can grab a yoshi, revisit 3 or 4 times (yoshi becomes lives if you enter with yoshi), and get back into the action. Super useful when there's a big skill gap between 2 players. You can also start+L+R out of the level, and it WILL switch players if you exit it that way, good if 1 player is out of the room for a minute.
@@feliciavale4279 found it i'm sure, but tbh most the special exits i just cheezed them with a blue yoshi. And iirc there is one koopa just close enough to the end that you can eat it and fly under with the blue yosh
Number 5! When I was a kid and found these secret levels on my own, I knew I'd stumbled across something greater than "just gaming." Like, it was still just a game, but games as a whole became more.
Definitely spending most of tomorrow playing this one again, but will hook up the old SNES instead of the classic mini to see if I ever found the Top Secret stage; quite sure I never even did though it doesn't sound that unfamiliar. Still kinda proud that I definitely found all the other secret stages myself (including Soda Lake!), yet still only for knowing from a magazine that the red levels contain a secret exit. My favourite secret exit was the Vanilla Dome level going to the Starworld as it was the first secret I ever found and had me looking out for more. SMW had me grinding for a year at least before I got another game and definitely made me a completionist gamer. SMW couldn't possible expire, ever. Great video dude
I played this game when it was brand new and came with my Super Nintendo console. I found all the exits except one - the Top Secret area. It wasn't until I played the Gameboy Advance remake (which lists the locations of all the secret exits) that I was finally able to find all 96. A big problem with hiding an exit in a ghost houst is that it's place on the level doesn't have a red dot indicating that has more than one exit.
Another piece of advice, this one for valley ghost house. You can actually start the coins moving, then hit the p-switch and ride the blocks. The allows you to steer the blocks while being able to see where they're going. I'd recommend being small so you dont have to run and crouch-slide. Takes some practice to get used to, but might be a little easier than trying to guess where the coins are going off screen
For the Valley Ghost house secret exit, there's an easier way to get in. With the cape, if you duck JUST before taking off, you will take off crouched and it makes it really easy to fit through that hole.
Honestly man, thank you so much for this video! Super Mario World has by far become my favorite Mario game! I just beat it today and it was really fun! This video started making me look places and now I’m finding all kinds of secret exits! Keep up the great work man!

Me and my buddy were obsessed with fully completing this game. I think he had Nintendo power or something but I remember it took us all summer to find and beat every level. I still play this game every couple years and I forget stuff.
I obsessed over this game back in the day and it haunted me when the end credits pulled in and there was that bullet character with the long arms and I could never find it , despite thinking I completed everything . I had no idea about that cheese bridge secret exit till today , nearly 30 years after playing this game 😢
Awesome vid! For Valley Ghost House, I never bothered with the tricky P switch steps but just flew up in a crouch. It would take several tries to time it so it wasn't just a regular takeoff, but you can go up in a crouch and then just zip thru the crack. I also like one of the forest of illusion water levels where there's a piece of wall you can swim through that looks like any ordinary wall.
Donut Plains 1 is just a classic piece of the super tight design in Super Mario World. If people are really nerdy on this subject, I can happily recommend the book "Reverse Design: Super Mario World" by Patrick Holleman. It's one of my favourite non-fiction books of all time and it has only added to how magic the game feels to me.
No game has ever really organically made me feel like this game did as a single-digit year old in the early 90s. Also your #1 was my favourite to find.
Great list. My 3 favorites are the secret donut plain ghost house secret, fighting a secret miniboss for the first warp star was pretty cool. The second is the chocolate island 2 secret because the level in general had a cool concept with the different ways to be the level. And my personal favorite is the Forrest of illusion water level secret, it was the only one I found by complete accident. I got hit by one of those crazy fishes and my yoshi ran right through the wall, lol.
I just watched this whole video. I'm surprised I haven't seen a video like this before. Looking back at it now that you made it it seems so obvious but it's so cool that you made this. I remember as a kid in the 90s and eating Super Mario world how annoying it was to see Torpedo Ted show up on the enemy cast, but it was oh so satisfying when I did find that secret at Cheese Bridge Area to get to Soda Lake and even more satisfying that after beating Soda Lake to find that Star Road that's on that tiny isle in the middle you can actually access from the world map and not just have it just be some dead zone
I greatly appreciate your kind words and all of your comments, I enjoyed reading them and hearing your perspective & thoughts on many of the secret exits. The Torpedo Ted credits thing did that to so many of us as kids! It sounds like I should do some more of these with other Mario games, especially with the reception of this one so far. Super Mario World is so awesome though, just had to find a fun format to talk about it that could get some attention! And yes I remember warping to that island before seeing how it connected to Soda Lake… good times!
Man, I discovered all of these by myself when I was a kid. I don't even know how many hours I spent replaying the levels looking everywhere and trying different things to find secret exits. The ones I struggle the most was finding the exit to the Blue Swith Palace and Soda Lake. I knew something was extremely hidden in the game because the credits will show every enemy you can encounter in the adventure and I had never encountered that one underwater you only find in Soda Lake. Such a great memories.
For me, Chocolate Island 2 deserves an honorable mention. Love the way that stage is designed to change depending on certain factors in every area. Getting the key isnt difficult but I do recall you need to have alot of time to reach that area.
@@DoomedDragonz in hindsight, I wish I gave it an honorable mention for its unique time & coin mechanic with the pipe. For me it wasn’t a favorite design bc I like when they’re hidden within the level, and it’s a bit too cryptic to be super fun, I remember waiting around at a pipe just to get a different screen bc I’d always run fast.. kinda makes me wish there was a more obvious indicator, but it IS interesting and unique! Watching this makes me want to get the Switch 2 because it's supposed to be backwards compatible, so that means I can have access to these SNES games I grew to love. I have found all of these secret levels. As a kid I found it frustrating to get to some of them, but now when I have chances to play this game I'm able to get them all with relative ease. Plus, it's fun to get to those secret accesses.
For the Valley Ghost House and Star Road 5 secret exits, it’s easier to get both by hitting the P-Switch first and building its path while you ride it. That way no cape etc or offscreen guessing is needed, you can just staircase it where you need to go. For SR5 you can also get flight off the platform you start on but it’s easiest to just bring a blue yoshi and eat the first parakoopa. The Valley of Bowser 2 and Cheese Bridge secret exits both blew my mind as a kid, I never would have found either on my own.
@@AnkisethTheMonk great tips!! That makes a lot of sense. The block snake riding technique is something I feel like I saw a very long time ago and completely forgot. And yes they’re so well hidden, super crazy!
@@MarMaxGaming For sure, Nintendo got crafty with SMW secrets lol. You got to some of these in ways I never considered and that’s really cool. Thanks for the video!
@@movzhepok3997 that is a very cool and unique bonus of a secret exit, it’s just that it doesn’t take you to an alternate path which is what I was focusing on.. but you’re right, that would’ve been a very cool one to show! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Number 1 because I found this one myself out how to get to the secret exit. I always wondered where the secret exit is until I noticed the arrows at the end of the stage. Then I used Yoshi by flying over the obstacles until I reached the goal by jumping beneath the goal tape and jumping off Yoshi. This one made me really proud of myself. There are also different ways to solve the other secret exits: 05:02 you can bring Yoshi up, there must been a blue koopa at the beginning on the screen. Or it was a blue Yoshi I used, can't quite remember tho. 06:42 when you walk a little bit forward there's a green para koopa jumping really high. You can use him to reach the pipe in the air by leading him close to the pipe and jumping on him. Make sure to hold the jump button to jump higher and land on the pipe. 09:12 you can run on the bottom of the field and jump at the last moment to reach up the key with Yoshi. Make sure to defeat all the super koopas. 13:02 first you activate the coin snake and make a stair out of it, then you activate the P-switch and follow up the stairs to see where the snake goes and lead the snake to the bottom of the gap. All you need is go through the gap with small Mario or slide through by running and ducking.
@@pixelblut4173 great tips!! I appreciate you watching & commenting, there’s a lot of different ways to get these secret exits which is really fascinating! Always important to choose words carefully, bc the possibilities are almost endless!
11:06 I didn't even realize there were so many ways to get to that. I mean I've played this game since I was a kid in the 90s and I know where all the secret exits are and even know some other secrets that people never point out such as just flying through tubular with cape and blue Yoshi by eating the flying paratroopers and just having wings. It seems everybody call that tubular level way too difficult because of having to use the balloon, but yeah you can totally cheese it with a cape and blue Yoshi
For the cheese bridge secret, we would fly mario close to the bottom of the level, and right past the finish line. It was still difficult, we never thought to kick off of Yoshi
The top secret area I remember figuring out by mistake when I was a kid. I think I figured out all of the secret doors tbh I played this game so much on the snes
Man... i didnt find the Cheese Bridge secret exit until well after the N64 came out lol. That star warp on that tiny island always confused me why it was there. I didnt know red blinking levels meant there was alternate exits either, until afterwards. Also, the Torpedo enemy in the credits always confused tf out of me xD
*Spoiler alert* I spent most of the video grumbling "he didn't even mention the exit that gets you to Soda Lake" but after hearing your savvy assessments of the first nine exits I was like "Oh duh, it's gonna be his number one pick." EXCELLENT video!
One important additional piece of info about secret area is that if you enter with a yoshi, you get a one up from the centre block instead. You can then exit and re-enter, getting as many lives as you need. Helps when trying to complete certain other difficult secrets (cheese bridge flying)
20+ years and I never found the exit for cheese bridge until now, everything I knew about but never cheese bridge, I used to think that the extra characters in the credits were accidentally left in until today, definitely gonna go back and replay cheese bridge
I agree with the list. The two hardest ones belong there. Cheese bridge was annoying because it's not very intuitive to get to. I remember beating the game and a kid and seeing the Torpedo Ted boss in the credits and wondering what level he was in. Took me years to find that.
8:35 yes every time I do this secret exit I always do it before actually getting all the switches and just fly up there. From what I recall there should actually be a blue Cooper nearby that allows you to fly up there because I've ever eaten one with the yellow Yoshi that you could have to level or maybe I just played it again with the masked couples already since red turns blue and green turns yellow at least for the ones on the ground
Number 1 is well worth it. Found it as a kid and felt like Einstein for a minute, I was equally mind blown by the discovery and amazed that I thought of it. It is quite a clever exit and not 100% intuitive.

@@josephk.8728 it’s a tricky and strange one, I should’ve given it an honorable mention but for the reasons you mentioned it isn’t a favorite of mine!
I was just here for the nostalgia.. thanks for the great memories
@@StonerJames haha you know, I haven’t thought about it much but you’re right.. I do hear him get called “Lack-eh-too” all the time instead of La-Kee-Too. Glad that it meant so much to you!
At least I didn’t ruin it by calling him MAREO, that’s one of the most annoying things you can do… Mario himself, and others, had said his name a whole lot ever since Mario 64
Man a couple of those ones I never knew about! Thank you! Great video. Never knew about the top one or the boo boss battle!
The last secret exit for me was the one that leads to soda lake. But I would always skip the normal exits in Star road because I thought they were useless. It took me a while to figure out they also added to the exit score when you select a file
I remember when i was a kid and figured out the easy way to clear cheese bridge level, i still feel proud about it, yoshi and cape in that level was great
Loved Super Mario World, and I love your breakdowns of the secret exits. Great video!
I personally think that the hardest secret is it is keeping Yoshi to the very, very very end of valley space last level before Larry we had to keep Yoshi till he hit that stone wall and have to tell the key out of it to get to the key. That’s the hardest what I think you with so many enemy that could not Yoshi off that it’s just almost impossible unless you’ve got really good man 18:54
That’s a really solid one too :) ! Nice choice!
@jarrod752 that’s fascinating!! Thank you for including that trivia… very interesting indeed.
I like to hit the Ghost House for the free one ups on the way to the Top Secret area. Great for saves, one ups and gear.
13:00 I never realized that the coin trail followed Mario's direction :O
Damn, 30 years later and I still hadn't found all the secret exits. I didn't know about #2
Man that cheese bridge drove me nuts as a kid
@@Redneck353 Same bro. I searched for like a month when I was a kid for the exit. I don't think I ever found it tbh
@@feliciavale4279 found it i'm sure, but tbh most the special exits i just cheezed them with a blue yoshi. And iirc there is one koopa just close enough to the end that you can eat it and fly under with the blue yosh
That level was tough AF.
@@Redneck353 Blue yoshi is indeed best yoshi
Number 5! When I was a kid and found these secret levels on my own, I knew I'd stumbled across something greater than "just gaming." Like, it was still just a game, but games as a whole became more.
loved 2 player Super Mario World!
Crazy how I found all of these as a teenager with no resources.. Now, replaying it in my 40s, I've had to look up how to find several secret exits
@@illmannered1 it’s important to keep our brain’s “novel play” wheels turning! Glad to hear you’re enjoying and searching in this classic once again!
I feel you man. My brother and I managed to achieved the 96* ranking as kids, as an adult I can never for the life of me get more than 94 🤷🏽♂️
Doing all this stuff as a young'un was magical.
Didn't even know number 1 existed 😅 I like number 7 best
Solid list.... took me back and definitely made me appreciate my grays. Thanks for this
Definitely spending most of tomorrow playing this one again, but will hook up the old SNES instead of the classic mini to see if I ever found the Top Secret stage; quite sure I never even did though it doesn't sound that unfamiliar.
Some of these exits took me years to find on my own. Great vid.
I meant 2D Mario game mb, super Mario 64 is actually my favorite Mario game of all time

@@MarMaxGaming no problem man, you should upload more of these secret exit videos in other classic Mario games because this was genuinely fun to watch!
YES, Cheese Bridge's secret exit is definitely my favorite in the game! It's just genius!
Me and my buddy were obsessed with fully completing this game. I think he had Nintendo power or something but I remember it took us all summer to find and beat every level. I still play this game every couple years and I forget stuff.
Interesting top 10 topic, I subbed because it seems like you have a lot of different interesting video game videos that other people haven’t made
I obsessed over this game back in the day and it haunted me when the end credits pulled in and there was that bullet character with the long arms and I could never find it , despite thinking I completed everything . I had no idea about that cheese bridge secret exit till today , nearly 30 years after playing this game 😢
Cheese bridge area used to have me going crazy. Seeing torpedo Ted in the credits made me think I missed something for sure.
Totally agree with #1. It was the last one I ever discovered and will never forget figuring out you can bring Yoshi through the stage.
Beautiful oldskool mario never dies
@@thomaspeters1994 factual statement! And that’s a big ass fish in your picture, congratulations!!
No game has ever really organically made me feel like this game did as a single-digit year old in the early 90s. Also your #1 was my favourite to find.
Super Mario World is a real GEM. The hidden secret exits elevated it to becoming a masterpiece.
All this sounds took me back .. thanks man
I got my GBA when i was 7 years old, and this is the only game i had, i spent a lot of time playing and discovering these secrets. the nostalgia 🥺
Great video, so many memories and finding these as a kid
Nice profile pic btw, Charmander is great. His original Pokémon card will always be burned into my brain!
I always loved getting to star world asap and finishing all of the special levels first so i could play the rest of the game in the alt colors. I have WAY too many memories with this game. My all time favorite

Gotta love that music. Solid edit 👌🏻
Great video! Handsome guy…secret recipe for sure. Keep cooking on these videos 👍

@@movzhepok3997 that is a very cool and unique bonus of a secret exit, it’s just that it doesn’t take you to an alternate path which is what I was focusing on.. but you’re right, that would’ve been a very cool one to show! I appreciate you watching and commenting!
Great video, awesome list 👍
Number 1 because I found this one myself out how to get to the secret exit. I always wondered where the secret exit is until I noticed the arrows at the end of the stage. Then I used Yoshi by flying over the obstacles until I reached the goal by jumping beneath the goal tape and jumping off Yoshi. This one made me really proud of myself.
There are also different ways to solve the other secret exits:
05:02 you can bring Yoshi up, there must been a blue koopa at the beginning on the screen.
Thanks, I need to play it again. The last one drove me crazy. The signs teased me, but I never figured out how to reach the second goal.

the last secret drove me crazy when I was kid. I agree with this list
Cheese bridge exit was the last and hardest for me to find. Which made it the most satisfying and memorable.
*Spoiler alert*

DUDE I spend MONTHS looking for the secret exit to this level. I don't even think I ever found it
I'm impressed. As a kid I found all but #2.
@@jjj7262 nice job! They get pretty darn tricky to find!
