    Superb Jamie. I’ve been always looking for the review on S7+ for the past few days. Finally I found it. Seems the mopping performance of S7 is much better than others, I believe it will set me free from the busy housework lol. I still have some rugs, does the S7 work well with it? Will there be a robot which can self-emptying and self-washing coming soon?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! The S7 works just fine with larger rugs. I normally pick up smaller rugs before running my robots.

    Thank you for your review. I did buy the Roborock S7 and auto empty charger base. You're right that the mop lift feature on thick carpet will drag the carpet. I figure it would take a whole redesign to get more lift out of it, but not a big concern. I also purchased the irobot J7. I like the ability for it to know when the collector tray gets full; it has a sensor that tells it to go back to base to clear it out. I do wish the Roborock S7 had that feature as well. So, I'm doing some testing of both to see which one I keep. Heck, with the Black Friday deal I received, maybe I keep both. I have a lot of carpet!

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have heard great things about the J7 except the battery life. The return to dock when the dust bin is full is a patent held by iRobot which is why Roborock can not include that feature. iRobot likes to patent most of their leading robot tech. You can get around this with schedules with the S7, but it is not the most ideal. Keep me posted. I would love to hear more if you keep both.

    • @darynm
      @darynm 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jamie Andrews Will do! Interestingly enough, I came across another video with a person that had the J7 and was able to find a couple different battery sizes that will more than double the size of the current battery in the J7. The cavity where the battery sits actually has the space for the upgraded battery to fit perfectly as it is bigger. Simple change out as there are no wires. In his tests, the system was not affected differently and continued to work based on the battery capacity in its cleaning cycle. I have the battery in my shopping cart with Amazon. If I keep the unit, I may consider buying it. It runs about 110 dollars. UPDATE: Don't buy the battery!! High failure rate of battery and can cause issues with the robot.

      @Yosra MH I really do like the Roborock S7. Great mapping technology and vacuumed well. I did have an issue with thick carpet and the mop pad lightly touching the carpet. The S7 Plus has a lifting mopping plate, but it only really clears low pile carpet otherwise I would remove the mopping plate.
      The S7 series only drops water in the center of the mopping pad so unless you get the Ultra dock to wash the pad every few minutes the pad will start to dry up on the sides.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You will need to remove the baby gate before it maps your house. You can carry it into that area and start a cleaning, bit it will struggle to get back to the dock.

      @chilson88 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamie.andrews thank you for the reply, could I make the floor plan “multi level” and leave the gate up or would that just be a headache? If I went about the “multi level” how would that work or do you happen to have a video on that?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@chilson88 I do not see any reason for it to be multi level unless you can not map that area behind the gate when you map the rest of your floor plan. Either way if the gate is up you are going to have to manually move the robot in there and start a room cleaning. When done you are going to have to carry it back to the dock. Now if you purchase a dock to go in that room then yes your could treat it as another level. I do not have any videos on the multifloor mapping process but it is fairly easy. You just select multifloor in the app and create a new map of that room. Once it is done mapping you will have that second map.

    So glad to have found your reviews - straight to the point , thorough and easy to understand. I have not found an answer as to why my auto empty dock is not able to suction the dirt into the cannister - from day one I've had to "dig out" large clumps hair/carpet fibers, etc. starting from the roller all the way into the actual docking station with hemostats. At first the dustbin was empty, but all was clogged where the robot attaches to the docking station. Today the dustbin was completely full after one pass (have two very shedding dogs), but I've used the system each and every day, plus have had to use my regular vacuum to keep up with the hair. My house is 4,000 square feet - 1 floor - so I believe a second robot would get the job done better. Any suggestions?

      @jamie.andrews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I have the M6 and I am really surprised it is still being sold and not replaced. I am with iRobot that the mop and vacuum should be separate, but I am not sure that is what people really want. It is hard to make one robot do both well. I am testing out the Dreame W10 and it is impressive so far. If it only could empty the dustbin. One day.
      Robots with obstacle avoidance still eat cords 80% of the time btw. Just cords. Obstacle avoidance is not needed if you pickup before you vacuum, which I recommend regardless. I prefer the S7 over my S6 MaxV. It is a way better vacuum on Carpet. If I am feeling lucky or lazy I will send out the Z10 Pro and take the gamble.

    I have the Roborock S7+. Just be aware that if you have tile floors with grout, a dirty mop pad will eventually stain your grout. I found out the hard way. Don't mop every day, just remove the mopping attachment. When you do mop, put in a clean mop pad. Otherwise, it works very well and I'm happy with it.

    So, listening to all of the reviews I am going with this brand for the next one. The only thing is, after so many people sold me on the 7+ I went shopping, and found out there is an 8+. It must be brand spanking new, because there aren't even any reviews out on it yet.

    I've had my S7 MaxV Ultra now for a few weeks and I just realized where all the hair went. :) You mentioned hair handling in this video so I put my comment here. I don't know how previous Roborock brushes worked but the all rubber one has hair storage under the rubber and spins the hair around the mid axle. This is much better than my old Neato that caused the width of the brush axle to increase when hair got in, causing it to turn harder and harder. I'd say the S7 (MaxV) rubber brush has 4 weeks worth of hair storage around the axle before I need to clean it out. This is for a home with 2 long haired people. Thanks for your reviews!

    Are you sure your brush plate which has the nubs on it is installed correctly? I almost didn't buy one of these after watching this video over concerns of scratching, but when installed correctly the nubs have a MUCH higher clearance and I'm no longer concerned about them catching anything. I believe it's possible to install it incorrectly which would cause them to sit much lower, but for people that are in my boat, I wanted to offer some peace of mind that it's actually not nearly the issue that it appears to be in this video.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea I am 100% positive it is on correctly and I have heard many complaints about this being an issue with reports of it scratching the floors too.. It is the exact same on my S7 MaxV. Are you saying those numbs do not touch the floor on yours?

    • @Spo8
      @Spo8 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jamie.andrews Right, I just bought an S7+ and they sit much higher than in the video and definitely don't contact the floor. I'm not sure if this is a new revision or what, but I can provide a picture as long as youtube allows the link. This is it sitting on a flat surface with some dust that fell out of the brush for scale. Something would probably need to be the size of a large pebble, or maybe some sizable dog food, to get stuck between the nub and the floor.
