Any one who owns any of the s5-s7s know the wheels need de scaling. The build up makes them too slippery. You need a polisher one of those 3m paper or just scrub them with the blade. Why wouldn't roborock address this issue for year's.

Wouldn't it be nice to have the clean water reservoir be able to be hooked up to your cold water line and have a dirty water connected to your drain plumbing. Seems like its like a portable dishwasher , would be nice to have a more permanent installation option. I hope the dust/dirt bags can be auto re ordered like a subscription plan.

Man, one of the things that stops us from running our S5 MAX whenever (preferably on a schedule!) without having to pick stuff up is wires and similar that it gets stuck on. I guess I'll keep waiting to upgrade, as Roborock still can't handle this situation. I love the "dock" idea that it cleans everything. Much closer though! I guess it'll be next year or the year until we can upgrade where they have really nailed cleaning normal people's homes! :)

I have used iRobots until recently when one of them started failing. I got this one because I liked the features of the doc refilling the mop and cleaning the mop. But WOW! I have to agree. I too have become obsessed with this system and dock! I love how it cleans the mop! I will say, I am surprised it doesn't tell us when the dust bin is full, but hey, how nit picky is it to point that out?
One thing that made this THE BEST SYSTEM OUT THERE is the unsung hero of this system...the app! The iRobot app is really good! There are a couple of nit picky things I could pick on with it, but what I LOVE is that when you load the app it can immediately talk with the robot. iRobot has to connect with each robot every single time. With Roborock as soon as you load the app, it can talk with the dock and the robot. No sitting there just HOPING it manages to connect (which as many times as not iRobot does connect...but a lot of failed connections).
At $1000, yeah, its pricey. No question. But when I see my dog has come in from the outside and left some footprints on my hardwood floor, and I can just tell Roborock to go after it...its INCREDIBLE how well it does!
Most of all, this system keeps me house so much cleaner that every time I walk around I see it and I feel good! Putting a price on THAT kind of product satisfaction is really hard (on top of, yeah, not having to fight the system at ALL to get it done). Last point...mine was out of the box, connected, and cleaning in about 5 minutes (at most!). Can you remember the last time you had something do that? WELL DONE, ROBOROCK! And great video, too! Your girls are adorable. :)

I got the S4 max. It's on sale right now on amazon for about $300. If you don't need or want the mopping feature, the s4 max is a really good machine at a really good price. My floors have never been cleaner. The app features for the s4 max are almost identical to this vacuum. The object avoidance is not quite as advanced as this machine, but then again I don't have little kids strewing things about at random locations, but I do have 2 dogs that never pee or poop in the house. it does a great job of going around objects that weren't there during the original mapping. Cords and shoe laces can be a problem , no matter which machine you have. This thing does such a good job vacuuming, that mopping with a swiffer is a breeze after this thing has gone through the house. Not everybody can justify $1500 for a robot, but $300 is justified and will save you hours weekly and your floors will have never been cleaner than before you had this thing. Waking around barefoot has never been so uneventful. I run this thing every single day, because , why not? It's not my labor and it always manages to find something to suck up.

At out house we vacuum twice a day every day and mop once every day with the occasional run through in the evening. When robot vacuums first were introduced I was excited and was ready to invest in them. However I thought it better to wait and save my money for the right investment. Looks like that time is now. We would still manually mop and vacuum our house, but instead of manually doing it every day we would probably just do it on the weekend and hump day. We would use the robot more for "upkeep" so our deep cleaning days which tends to be Saturday are less of a work for us. ALSO. We recent got new furniture and have 2 massive dumb dumb shepherds and 3 devils masked as cats. Getting an air purifier made a significant difference with their hair and dander BUT as mention we still have to keep with the daily vacuuming and moping. With this.....ugh I hope it will help our pet problems.

Amazing video! Already have the S5 max and I love it. Will probably upgrade it in the future. Sadly there is one really annoying issue with all roborock vacuums. The cliff detection sensors at the bottom think that a black carpet is a cliff... so it won't go on them. Since you probably have someone to contact at roborock I was wondering if you could point out this issue to them. They have known about it for the past 2 years but still no fix (like the ability to just disable the cliff sensors & put virtual walls at cliffs)

Is there some kind of way to use the floating sensors to trigger some devices with Home Assistant / SmartThings to automate it the DIY way (aka electric valve for the in and aquarium pump for the out)?

It's neat but I kind of wondering why they don't offer a flat version of the dock which fits under the kitchen cabinet (after removing a section of the socket).
This way it could be connected to fresh and waste water and not use tanks. The vacuum tank could be cleaned with flushing it out as well :)
A simple door mechanism where you can connect the removed kitchen socket board would hide it completely - which would be so much more comfortable than having it sit there in a room all the time

    • @nikolavrbanic647

    • @RubenKelevra

@@nikolavrbanic647 that's the point: Everyone has a socket below their kitchen cabinets. So everyone has spaces for that.
Setting it up couldn't be easier: Just connect the Water and Waste water like a Dishwasher. I don't see why you don't want to pay someone to do this if you're not up to the task.
It's a set and forget thing, compared to a bulky station somewhere in your house which gets bigger with each hardware interation. :)

Do you think it'd be possible to put the S7 brush on a S5max? The sides seems exactly the same, so that would be just a question of overall size.
As the S7 brush handles hairs in a much better way, that would make a great upgrade for the S5max for a very small price :)

Lots of things, like your map, are stored locally on the device. To enable remote viewing, you need to hold down a few physical buttons on the device, and only then will an encrypted video feed be available from the app. Keep in mind they only allow you to use the Roborock app, and no 3rd party apps, for remote viewing for security I'd imagine.

    • @SmartHomeSolver
      @SmartHomeSolver  2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

Yes what TheGFactor said. You have to physically enable remote viewing by holding down all 3 buttons on the vacuum. Then if someone did guess your Roborock password there is still a different pin to see the remove viewing. To top it off the vacuum says in a loud voice "remote viewing" over and over again so you couldn't sneak it into someone's room without them knowing.
But yes the robot vacuum is connected with WiFi. Also all the photos for object detection and everything is stored locally on the robot vacuum.

With the bag, are only genuine bags available, or are there after market and maybe reusable bags available?
I can understand using a bag to reduce the dust going back into the room. The self emptying and self cleaning would be amazing. These robo-vacs are really starting to become quite sophisticated and are genuinely an alternate to standard vacuuming, rather than just being the gimmick they were just a a few years ago.

I know this is an odd question, but wondering if the hose to the dirty water bin and other parts are easy to clean. We use a spot cleaner and since dirty water sits in there and you can't detach them it gets mildewy and gross 🤢. We've tried sucking up vinegar or other cleaning tips, but doesn't quite work. Would love a follow up on that sort of maintenance and what they officially recommend. Also if any if the baby moving parts start failing.
