Roborock S7+ Bag or Bagless - US Version Auto Empty Dock

  • When Roborock released the Auto Empty Dock for the S7 in 2021 there was a lot of backlash because Roborock did not give the US a bagless option. To makes things worse other countries had the option between bagless or a bagged dock. Well now Roborock has released the bagless canister as an add-on for the US market. I have tested both for several months and I will tell you the pros and cons for each.

    only youtuber that really showed this hands on and not just talking about it. Same thing when you did on RR, a comparison between the old brush roller and the new one that was more dense. And many other examples. You are unique, keep it like that :)

    I bought the bagless bin the moment I saw you post it was released. I have NO regrets! We have three dogs and a 2200 sqft home. The bags filled up way too quick for me to justify the cost of constantly replacing them. I definitely didn’t make it 8 weeks with the bags. More like 2-3 weeks. I empty the bin in our garage trash can. We also have air purifiers in the home so no worries on extra particles in the air from dumping. Appreciate your videos!
    *ETA I did have issues with blockages from the dog hair when using the bag system. It would get stuck between the dock and bin/bag as well as at the bottom of the bin. That hasn’t happened since using the bagless bin.

      Glad to know it is working better for you! Some people may be able to get 8 weeks out of a bag and without pets. I am just glad we finally have options! Thanks for watching!

      I had the same problem with the dog hair. So I go to the settings and do a “empty every cycle” and I have the auto empty set to MAX. This has kept my dock almost clog free on the base. Hope this helps. The s7 I have been enjoying for about 3 weeks.

      I have to say as soon as I heard the 8 weeks I was thinking, there's no way a bag would last 8 weeks in our house (I have pets as well). It's a shame they don't make the docks with the fluids for the mop version with the bagless as well.

    I have both versions now and am testing the bagless right now. The bagged is excellent and convenient. My wife is asthmatic and a lack of contact with the debris in the filter seems to be a plus but the bagless can simply be emptied by me outside into the can and then rinsed. Both excellent options. The bagless system is very close to the Hoover Wind Tunnel system in stand up vacuums. I like both of the Roborock options.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yea the right thing is to have options and I am glad Roborock has given us 2. The main thing with the bagless is you have to clean the filter so maybe Roborock should allow us to buy an extra cone filter so we can swap them put while one is drying.

    I am happy for the bagless option because it is much more earth friendly than the addition of bags to the landfill a few times a year. Something that I think should be mentioned and/or considered as well.

      I personally went back to a bag system on it. Many people feel different than us and that could be because of a very large home with long haired pets so it really does come down to personal preference.

      Personally I want to get the roborock s7 maxv plus and one thing I miss from my shark iq self empty is the bag less bin because it did great and right now I have a smell coming out of my deebot n8+ when it empties

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@coltonsvacuumcollection That smell is likely due to the lack of a good hepa filter. The S7 auto empty dock does not smell at all.

    Great review! I think on top of all advantages of the bagged version is the fact that the bagless version has a clear plastic and if your dust station is not hidden away, you're going to look at the unpleasant-looking dust in the plastic tube all the time.

    Thank you for an excellent concise review. Its a shame the makers of Roborock don't make the Bagless Plastic Tube Opaque or Frosted in the front and clear at the back to hide the contents before it is emptied though because I pay $13 per bag (plus delivery fee) which doesn't take long to fill when owning a German Shepherd.

    Great review. My default assumption is that if I got the dock, I would want the bagless but the point of the extra filtration and the minimal cost of the bags kicked me the other way.

    i have an issue with my auto empty dock where long hair gets stuck in the S7 filter, so i have to manually clean "hair balls" integrated with dust from the filter . so it seems my dock isn't able to clean the filter much. is this normal?
    also, actual clean dust bin wise, did you find any difference between using the bagless and the bag system? i read somewhere on Roborock forums that using the bagless system provides a bit more vacuum power to the dock - don't think that's true though.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      My dock always cleans my internal S7 filter.
      I have also heard the bagless canister provides more power especially with hair and reducing clogs, but I have not found this in my testing since I don't have the issues with either.

  • @jayb4402

    How is odor when you’re leaving all that dust in the bag for weeks to months? Do you end up with that old vacuum cleaner smell if you’re running the bagged version?

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No not at all. It is sealed off and the dock has extra filtration that helps reduce smells.

    • @jamie.andrews
      @jamie.andrews  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Did you clean you floors with a big vacuum first? This is very common when people introduce a robot vacuum in the enviroment for the first time. The robot will get places in your home that you don't normally reach so performing a vaccum first helps with this as it reduces the load some. After it runs several more times over time it will no longer be a problem, but if it is do room cleanings instead to break it up and don't let the dustbin get so full.
