I have S7+, and it's great vacuum and mop. There is tons of reviews of it here on youtube. I expected this one to be different, as the title reads "best home automation product". Well, I must say I'm so disappointed by complete lack of automation support by S7+.It can't be connected to HomeAssistant via any local API (as Nuki Lock/Bridge has for example), and it can't be connected when you linked it to manufacturer's app Roborock (which provides the "low water" notification itself, without any coding). You have to connect it to Mi Home app instead to be able to "integrate it". I have the official Roborock app so I linked it to Alexa instead. And now, all the "best home automation product" offers is simple on/off switch! I don't like to run vacuum on schedule because I leave house at different times, so I have an automation to turn it on 10 minutes after I leave house, if it was not already run that day. But because it's only on/off, it uses the last setting you have there. So if you manually run Deep Mop, next day, the automation will again run Deep Mop, instead of Vac&Mop. Eh... And that comes great with the "low watter" notification, which actually means "no water". So you get this notification when you already left home and cleaning is half done. Now half house is deep mopped (no vacuuming on deep mop), and half is only vacuumed (because there is no water), when you wanted vacuum+normal mop the whole house... From the "best home automation product", I'd expect a bit more than simple on/off. When talking about robo vacuum and automation, ability to set cleaning type (vacuum only/deep mop/vac&mop), and specify where to clean (whole apartment, specific room only), which is just not possible with Roborock S7+.

I have a standard S5 and have had the S7 on my wishlist ever since it was advertised. Due to hanging an assortment of carpet and hard floor areas in our house, along with rugs, the intelligent mop lift would be perfect

It is so cool that the mop attached could vibrate 3000 per minute and could lift by itself. High technology!

Hey mate, thanks for doing this video. I’m glad that you’re in the uk - I am too. But I just can’t seem to get my hands on one of these! The roborok Facebook page keeps advertising but they don’t ship to uk. Any ideas where I can buy? I see I can get a French one, but I’m concerned the voltage might be different if it’s a different plug & wouldn’t want to blow it. Thank you

Hello mate! The auto empty dock is unfortunately not yet available in the UK. They only have a 110 volt model available, which is for sale in the US. I was lucky enough that Roborock sent me one, and I used a 220v to 110v voltage converter to make it work here in the UK.
You can still buy the S7 vacuum cleaner on its own, and then later on add the Auto Empty dock when it becomes available in the UK. I asked Roborock when they plan to release it, but they unfortunately do not have a date yet.
I've updated the link in the description to include a link to the Amazon listing for the UK version of the robot itself.

Please see my comment elsewhere in this video. You'll get no warranty as it's not officially sold here and most places that sell it in the UK will hike up the price a lot.

I like both videos you made about the Roborock S5 and S7. Some TH-cambers made nice videos on hidden garbage doors for them. I am spoiled with a cleaning lady cleaning the house ones a week. I think a S5 will a great addition to clean the kitchen, dining and living room the other 6 days of the week. The fact that a robot vacuum cleaner is well supported in Home Assistant if very important for my choice. Thank you for you videos.

@@HomeAutomationGuy The first thing a am looking for now is a place to hide the vacuum cleaner, when not in use. I am looking at the hidden garage door solutions some people have made. Robot vacuum cleaners need space in front of the charging platform obviously, but also on the sides. Going to investigate my options for this now. Does someone has experience with this ?

Thanks for sharing your opinion. How is the S7 integrated in your network?
In the S5 tutorial you mentioned how to keep iot devices from your main network. I dont like the idea that this device could spy the whole network.
I am sure you already have a video about securing devices from the internet but I was not able to find this, thanks.

    • @HomeAutomationGuy

I have my Roborock on my IOT network and it's integrated to Home Assistant. Most of my home automation equipment lives on that separate network whilst my personal devices (Phone, laptops, tablets etc) use a different network.
I created a video about it here, I hope it helps explain things a bit better! th-cam.com/video/eqr-vTC7EVk/w-d-xo.html
