🏆Name SUVs that are better than Toyota RAV4 🤔 🔴2024 Toyota Land Cruiser: The Pros And The Cons You Can't Ignore!👉 th-cam.com/video/aKBTvE51AhU/w-d-xo.html
I consider not having a turbo as a plus. It’s still the best selling compact suv in spite of the negatives you point out. You’re trying to make the RAV4 something it wasn’t meant to be.
WTF???!? Having NO TURBO means less wear on the engine and longer engine life… gobsmacked!! I specifically asked the dealer - NO TURBO - and FORTUNATELY they DONT do turbo!! Imma go outside and hug my 2024 RAV4 that other folks are waiting 3 years to get now…
Reliability is the reason I am now on my third Rav4 since 1997. This one is a 2016 hybrid. My last one, a 2010, was a V6. I have more power in my hybrid than I had on that one. I have never had a repair, except wreck damage. My only complaint is road noise. It has never been driven off road and never will be. It wasn’t built for that.
im pretty sure you can have both. a luxury interior wont cost that much and it definitely wont affect its reliability or performance theres no excuse they are doing it on purpose so that people are forced to buy overpriced top spec
I wanted to buy a CRV in the next few months, but a friend of mine that owns a 2023 just came upon the gas in the oil problem. She is livid, and I can't say I blame her.
Turbos do create more power, but they also create a lot of heat so don't expect them to last as long as a naturally aspirated engine. And if something goes awry with the turbo, they can be very expensive to repair. They also need extra maintenance.
Oh no, it's not a sports car! Oh no, it's not a heavy duty towing rig! Oh no, it's not a hardcore off-roader! Oh no, it's not a Rolls Royce!.. Exactly. It's a reliable, economical passenger vehicle with some basic off road capability. Just what many people want and need - Sheesh.
No turbo is one of the reasons I’m a buyer … I keep my cars until they are worn out… another reason for no electric motor or battery expense in the future… which will also kill the resale value… who wants a battery problem?
Last thing I want is a turbo engine. Guaranteed big bills at 100K miles. I need AWD for snow, rarely go off road and then only mild. Likewise towing. The hybrids are quieter than the ICE.
I own a Rav4 and while I don’t think it is perfect, I think your thrashing of the vehicle is uncalled for. People who purchase the vehicle know what they are getting. Toyota has a vehicle for every need. If you load up the “base” trim, it ceases to be the base trim and cost more. If you want off-road, buy a 4Runner, now what?
I own a 1990 Corolla it got 946,667.03 true miles I just keep the maintenance all the time on time gave it to my nephew she moved to Seattle and took the car with her and used to visit us here in Atlanta all the time
They won’t believe until they own one . Me i got an xle package and i got lucky to paid it off. Last Toyota I got I a 1990 Corolla and it hit 923,000.00 plus miles I gave to my nephew I think she still have it out there in Washington state .
The Rav4 has plenty of get up and go, no one buys this to go off road or tow stuff, The suspension is great the steering wheel is great, price is super cheap and that why it's the highest selling Toyota
We have two Toyotas in our family. One is a 2023 RAV4 Prime SE, the second is a 2010 FJ Cruiser 4x4 (with low-range transfer case, two types of differential locks). We can use each vehicle in different weather and road conditions. We love both of our Toyotas.
Is this a joke? Talking about a Toyota vehicle without a frame that almost sits on the ground for off-roading is hilarious. Very good observation about the cheaper feel in the interior, maybe that's part of why the sticker price is half of a Toyota Sequoia. But yet if you compare to similar vehicles in it's class it will last twice as long and get 2-3 times the miles because, it doesn't have a turbo.
No Turbo is a good thing better engine reliability. Agree about the off-road. Subaru is the standard for off-road in this class. Agree about the Cabin noise. I've been a fan of Toyota's for over 20 years. I love them because of the longevity but one area that needs major improvement is insulation! I've been wishing for this for over 20 years now.
Well, Tech Triumph, you've lost your credibility with this video. You didn't prove why anyone should not buy a RAV4. Anyone who owns one is because ti is one of the best vehicles you can own for the money.
4th gen rav 4 limited is my favorite vehicle I've ever owned. I just took it on a 3,000 mile road trip, and the only complaint is cabin noise is true..
Poor off road experience? I work in the oil fields people are getting their trucks stuck all the time. I have purposely drove through the stuff that they are getting stuck in just to see if my car will get stuck too but nope just slides around a little bit and makes it through like nothing. Also I have pulled people out of the mud with my car while I was in the same mud they were stuck in. Rav4's are insane vehicles don't listen to this guy. I love my car
@@krane15 you're going to have a hard time getting me to think a tiny 1.5 l engine that has to have a turbo on it to totally wring it out to try to get it to go down the road at the same rate as a RAV4 or a Subaru Forester is going to "last" Oh wait and the CRV has a CVT as the transmission on it. 😲🤪😅
NO turbo charger is NOT a bad thing.... turbos are NOT that good and they cause engines to wear out MUCH faster- cause oil to burn and thicken to varnish- and other issues- including creating too much heat around certain sections of the engine comparment. A SUPERCHARGER would be MUCH better.. and NOT cause the above issues. Supercharger could be tuned to be a GENTLE boost across the entire pedal range and NOT create the heat, and other issues.. and the mpg wouldn't change more than a single mpg or so..
I have a 2022 Rav4 hybred. All Rav4 have AWD. U have different settings for the engine to get more power and speed. It has plenty of leg room in the rear seat, very comfortable. Summer i Wisconsin in get between 43-48 MPG. Winter 37-40 MPG mixed driving. Not sure about the steering issue, i think it response well. Handles very tight to the road. I recommend at least the year 2022. Wife loves it, her car. I perfer the XLE package
You’re being very unfair to The RAV4. Toyota is a massive corporation with a vehicle for every need. Why do you expect The Rav4 to be a combination of everything the company manufactures? You’re very critical of the vehicle and yet the RAV4 is the best selling suv, therefore everyone disagrees with you.
I've had my 2019 Non-Turbocharged Non-Hybrid Rav4 Ltd for 5 YEARS and counting. FYI, I come from a family of bigtime car enthusiasts. We've had muscle cars, classic cars, turbocharged cars, supercharged cars, nitros-equipped cars, electric cars, and hybrid cars. I understand the use-cases, pros, and cons of each engine configuration. This particular rant video couldn't be further from the actual real-world truth! So much misinformation in my opinion. My Rav4 has been such a great vehicle since I bought it new in January of 2019. If I wanted a speedy vehicle, there's obviously other vehicles better suited for that purpose. This is a Crossover SUV....nOt a sports car! If I was hellbent on having such a plushy ride, I'd look into the Lexus lineup instead. The Rav4 does what it was PRIMARILY designed for EXCELLENTLY! NO REGRETS! 👌
The turbo 4 in the Tacoma, is not considered to be all that good. Noisy, vibration, and not expected to be all that durable. Most Rav4 buyers are getting just what they want, AWD, durable transportation with room for stuff, at a price that is easier to take, than say a true Off-road rig. Toyota could build a peppier version, buy the price point would drive all the drift kids away. Rav4 wasn't built as a race car, or a performance off road vehicle. And comparing it to a Cherokee? Why not compare it to a Bently or a Porche 911? Compare it to vehicles in its class, Crvs and similar like it. But you can add your own turbo, you can change out the suspension, you can add sound deadener, but for all the other things, it is what it is.
I have a 2024 Hybrid XSE. I went with the XSE to get a little less body roll on turns. Most of these negatives in the video are very subjective... for example, towing capacity. I don't care about towing capacity and I'm sure most that buy the vehicle won't either. You want to tow stuff, buy a truck. I also don't think the turbo thing is really a negative at all. If you don't have a turbo, it's not going to go out. 😁 I will concede on the cheaper trim level seats/interior. I hate Toyota's (and pretty much every manufacturers') version of cloth seats these days. While I'm partial to leather, my 2005 Toyota Tundra SR5 has amazing cloth seats... not this weird scratchy material used these days. The seats are soft and even after almost 20 years, they don't look dirty or worn. I also disagree on the stiff suspension. Even with the sport-tuned suspension of the XSE, I don't feel like the suspension is rough. One that I totally agree on is the interior noise. The RAV4 is really quiet at lower speeds (around town) but on the interstate or under harder acceleration, you definitely notice the noise in the interior from wind and the engine. Toyota can definitely improve on this without hurting sales on the Lexus NX line... I'm not really sure why they haven't already done this given that the current model is now 5 years old. All in all, it's a great vehicle and I have not regrets on buying it. Just like any other car on the road, there are things that could be improved on, I just think most of the improvements mentioned in this video missed the mark.
I DISMISSED THIS WHEN THE AUTHOR SAID NOT TO BUY THE RAV4 because it does not have a turbo.. I WOULD SAY THE NON TURBO CHARGED ENGINE IS A MAJOR PRO!!! they both PERFORM PRETTY MUCH THE SAME, INCLUDING GAS MILEAGE. TURBOS ad more concern of fuel quality, oil quality, and "more frequent oil changes." they add extra expense, extra stress on the engine/SHORTER LIFE and if the turbo goes out, You Are Screwed! "BEST TO TRY AND AVOID A TURBO IF YOU DON'T NEED IT" Also Hondas have a CVT (Transmission) and the Toyota has a "standard 8 speed automatic transmission that many people prefer for performance and reliability over CVT's. (turbo should Help you in "high altitude applications. But IF you Don't "drive in the mountains all the time, it does not matter) Little Ricky Racer boys just think they finally have a Porsche if they get a turbo. 😂😉 And if you are buying a SUV to be your new sports car, or want to turn an SUV into a sports car... 🙄you are even more Confused 😅
You're not comparing equivalent vehicles. Of course the RAV4 is not going to off-road like a Jeep Wrangler. That's not what it's intended for. But these are different classes of vehicles. The interior is similar to other vehicles in the class based on trim level. That's typical. If you need more payload and cargo capacity, then this isn't even the class of vehicle to be looking in. The Jeep Cherokee has a greater towing capacity, but scored worse on off-road capability in various tests, is notably less reliable, and has worse fuel economy. I suppose the way you frame this information is very important.
Why I purchased my 2022 RAV4 XLE Hybrid: No turbo, No power tailgate, no sunroof, and no standard CVT. My favorite things are the MPGs and reliability. I also appreciate the 219 HP, average 40 MPG, interior utility, and cargo room. To get a better driver's car, buy a Mazda. If you want the best safety & traction, buy a Subaru. If you want the best luxury vehicle, with no regard for value, go with BMW.
Like most Toyotas, the RAV4 gets good gas mileage for its class, and the company has a reputation for building reliable cars, often at the expense of being cutting edge, or turbocharged until recently. But, for the current RAV4, it seems like groups of designers and engineers on the RAV4 were not on the same page. Some seem to have been designing a light off-road vehicle to compete with Subaru. If this were a capable off-road and towing vehicle, there would be few complaints about the spartan interior or the road noise. In fact, they might praise its simplicity and lack of fussiness, and it might even be considered relatively quiet or a small price to pay for its capability. But the other group wanted it to be a commuting car, and focused on reliability, conservative design, on-road handing, and fuel economy. They could have given it an interior based the Camry's and done better. In the end, it is mostly adequate, but it doesn’t really excel at either approach.
Yeah, I agree that the Honda's turbo engine might be peppier but I have no interest in its "junk" CVT transmission. The Toyota 8spd Auto is superior in every way. Also if you want better handling and a more comfortable ride in your Rav4, check those tire pressures. No need to overinflate them above what the door sticker recommends and they are ALWAYS overinflated from the factory.
totally agree with you…eff those CVT transmissions! I bought the XLE premium gas model in 22’ new and it came with 19” rims & low profile tires. I could feel every bump and pebble. Switched out those rims to 17” with beefier larger tires and it rides great! Sold my last car because the turbo was going at 100k and burning lots of oil. NO Thanks to turbos!
Couldn't agree more CVT REALLY REALLY sucks. I had a 2016 CRV couldn't wait to get rid of it. Only reason was the CVT It isn't a snowmobile for peat sake.
Simply put the reasons you list in the vehicle are not the reasons people look for such a vehicle to begin with. There's a reason why it's the most popular SUV in North America.
I have a 2023 RAV4 hybrid for over a year now l bought it brand new and l must say l love the car !!! I had a BMW 5 series with turbo and also a turbo expenses 😢l went for oil change and the guy brought a “ preventative maintenance “ recommended repairs $6000 no check engine light or nothing wrong with the vehicle !!!Again BMW stealerships are known for this …. Everything made of plastic …plastic water pump ect This is family midsize SUV and it has 219 HP which is not bad at all - the gasoline base model has a less . If you want a fancy model buy a Lexus a Toyota with the tie …. If you want turbo buy a turbo that comes with higher gas usage and more repairs …. This is great for smaller families, decent trunk space excellent reliability and decent fuel economy. I would only agree that cabin noise reduction would been nice but l can live with that ….
Owned 2 Mercs and 1 Audi. After stumbling across Dave Ramsey my 4th car is a cheaper used 2018 RAV4 2.0 GX CVT because i want to build wealth for my kids. While the car is no wafting boat nor does it drip with athletism, its a solid thing that gets me from point A to B without any fuss and everyday too.
As far you are totaly wrong by saying that a Turbo engine is better than the 2.5 Lt. in line. I was a truck driver a few years back and turbo engine is fine for more power when need it. However with a RAV 4 are you putting 50,000 Lbs. and pulling it. I do not think not a regular driving who needs a turbo engine. Overall when you driving a turbo it takes more gas on the average even if you are driving city or highway. My own experience it is a non sense getting a turbo engine and I am for 2.5 Lt. atmospheric engine and it will give you more endurance than a turbo engine like you are describing in your video. I wander if you are paid to sell the turbo engine or otherwise.
Really that's the dumbest thing anybody can say especially if they know anything about vehicles you don't want a four banger with a turbo you're pushing that little mortar way too hard and it's not going to last you might as well just go buy a Chevy if you wanted to buy junk not putting a turbo is the best thing they can do for that motor keep up with the oil changes and that mortar will last a long time Toyota knew what they were doing when they didn't put turbo good job for them
I've owned 2 turbo charged vehicles (91 MR2 Turbo and 87 RX-7 Twin Turbo). Most of the turbo problems are heat and oil related. You had to let the engine cool down before turning off, else the oil would burn off and crust up on the bearings. You had to use synthetic oil (more expensive back then) and change it every 2500 miles instead of 5000 miles. Many turbo engines require more expensive premium gas as well. You are also putting a lot of extra strain on a tiny 4 cylinder engine. Both cars were fun to drive, but for long term reliability, I would not buy one.
Not having a turbo is a benefit as far as reliability and maintenance costs. Rav4 Prime does 0-60 in 5.7 seconds so it isn't slow for an SUV that drives over 40 miles electric only and then gets 40 MPG combined in hybrid mode. Can't believe you would compare a Rav4 and a Cherokee for towing capacity. That is like comparing a Tacoma to a 3500HD diesel truck. Bronco and Wrangler are different class than Rav4. They are also about double the price. Rav4's all have the same all wheel drive. The TRD off road didn't get some special setup, it's the same. Wow, a base Rav4 doesn't have many options? Weird.... It isn't a luxury SUV so it isn't going to be super quiet... If you take it off of sweet jumps, it is probably a rough ride. They ride fine. Rav4 is the best selling vehicle besides an F150 truck. So I don't think they are hurting too bad from lost sales. Rav4 is not a sports car. It doesn't have sports car steering. All in all, pretty inaccurate video....
I just bought a RAV4 today and absolutely love it. this video is Trash. I don’t care at all about six of these ridiculous reasons, and barely care about the other two.
I just got the LE about a month ago used. Only things I hate about it is the wheels and no push button start. I traded in my 2016 hyduai sonate for it. Even though I am used to having to use key to start car, I just love the fact that if I touch the door it will unlock. I hate getting my keys out to unlock the car.
I found this argument completely useless!! You don't buy toyota RAV4 for performance, If you need performance, you go somewhere else. It has everything else! So make up your mind and don't mix apples and oranges !! Very dumb comment.
All my life I wanted a Rav4 Hybrid. This year I finally bought a brand new 2023 and I love the hybrid mileage, the ground clearance and the 4 wheel drive. I was so in love that I totally ignored all the drastic design flaws. The roof is two inches too low. I am 5'10" with a tall torso and I bang my head every time I get in and out and what's even worse is the serious visibility flaws. When I look 30 degrees to the right the rear view mirror is directly in front of my face. If I want to look 30 degrees to the right I have to duck my head down to see underneath the rear view mirror. The center console is three inches too wide on both sides. It digs into my right knee making it painful to my knee cap to keep my foot on the accelerator pedal. I’m thinking about gluing on some padding to ease this problem. My wife also complains about leg discomfort on her side. The side pillars are so wide that I absolutely cannot see oncoming cars at intersections of less than ninety degrees. I feel like this is going to kill me one day. The headrest is so stupidly designed that I sometimes feel like it is forcing my head down. After paying $41K I feel like a fool for buying such a cheap plastic interior. After four months of constantly banging my head, serious visibility problems, the most uncomfortable seating and the loudest road, wind and engine noise of any car I have ever owned I am now sorry that I ever bought a RAV4 at all. Plus I heard of a new class action law suit because the moon roof drains are short circuiting the air bags which it claims Toyota knew about but failed to fix which the customer must now pay to fix and there is other talk about a power cable corrosion that may cost up to $6K to fix. After four months of living with this car I'm now sorry I ever bought a RAV4.
Why are you bearing all this nonsense? RAV4 anyways holds the best resale value so sell it and buy whatever you want. CRV or Forester might be comfortable for you.
@@victorkrottner3818 okay, you don't need to sell it then, it's a nice reliable car and gives you maximum resale value when you want to sell it so just keep it and try to make some seat adjustments to make yourself comfortable. Adjust the seat down so your head won't hit the roof. Also, pull the seat little back so your legs feel comfortable. I bought a RAV recently and I felt the same initially but I adjusted my seats and got used to it now, I'm also 5'10 and bit heavy but no such big issues for me. It's driving smooth, handling is good, good mpgs, I'm happy with my purchase.
The biggest con is that you are comparing totally different types of vehicles. Land Cruiser and Jeep Cherokee are designed for a different purpose. Remember the apples and apples.
No turbo charge is plus because turbo is much more sensitive and requires more maintenance. It also is much mot costly when it goes out and needs to be replaced.
I’m an Uber driver and I am currently renting a 2024 RAV4 Hybrid and I absolutely love it! I think I’m going to buy one! Have rented to do Uber in many other vehicles and the Toyota RAV4 is by far the best vehicle I have driven!
Coming from owner of RAV4 TRD off road. Its not just AWS, its the elevated suspension, all terrain tires and more HP that makes off road special. Its never meant to be a competitor of 4runner or Jeep. The only competitor in this segment is Subaru Outback Wilderness. RAV4 is an extremely reliable car with fuel economy of 30-32mpg (non-hybrid). Its meant for 99% of public and no turbo is a huge plus. Noise in the cabin is lower than audi Q5. I am not sure about honda CRV.
as looking for reviews about a Rav4, as Im considering on buying one, I came across this video, the tittle got my attention... This video actually convinced me on buying a new Rav4, as looking in the comments on how many ral Rav4 owners are defending theirs' drove me in to take my final decision. Sorry for the sponsor of this video, Im buying a Rav4, thanks a lot
I love the look of these- and many say it's EXCELLENT.. but I saw one stuck in a 6 inch snow (wet/icy) once-- and went aROUND IT up hill-- in an all original 64 BEETLE... if it can't outdo a beetle in snow-- I don't want one. I've since heard many others trading theirs in for the same reason.. NOW_ I do NOT mean to disrespect the rAV 4-- it's a great vehicle-- maybe they had crappy tires on the ones I heard were stuck and the one I went around-- but not a chance I'm willing to take.. I wish I could trust it-- but I don't_ YET-- give it time.
@@cloudoftime YES you're correct- especially on the tires... but it's just underpowered and I don't like that. It also doesn't NEED 8 speeds- that effects it's use in offroad and otehr conditions. NOT saying it's a bad vehicle-- I just want BETTER.
@@davidwayne9982 did the owner of a 60 something Volkswagen bug call any other modern car "under powered"? 😲🙄😅🤣 Old Volkswagen bugs would slowly go over anything. And that's because they had a decent amount of a little bit of torque and essentially no weight. I had one once. And I would have traded it for a new RAV4 and a heartbeat!
Why on earth would you need a turbo, it's not a sports car. The AWD is just fine, the Rav4 was never designed to be an off road vehicle. All reviewers have to talk about the infotainment system, in fact reviewers complain about the same things.
It's built the way it is for dependability. That's why it is the best. Not built for racing or off the road. They sale other vehicles for those purchases. I personally don't want a turbo. Extra features are something else to tare up. Simpler the car the better.
I chose the (2017) Rav4 for it's size, utility and dead nuts reliability. To & from sitting down, heat when it's cold, air cond when it's hot and tunes when I want to rock.. It is not a truck, a Lexus or a Jeep. I love the fact the 2.4L engine has chain driven timing on the camshaft instead of a belt.
I don't experience vague steering input. 3:55 I wouldn't say the older RAV4 is more robust. My older RAV4 (2008) had numerous leaky shock problems which needed replacing, swaybar link damage and needed the front suspension replaced. I've driven on gravel logging roads but didn't abuse the car. At least the current RAV4 has 1 inch more ground clearance. I also find the current version more quieter. Road noise is due to the type of tires and ground surface you're driving on. Engine noise doesn't bother me. It sounds like a sports car when you step on the gas pedal.
I had my 2nd gen Scion xB in for service the other week and they gave me a new RAV4 as a courtesy vehicle. It was perfectly fine, except for one thing. The windshield is right in your face, it was claustrophobic. I don't think I could buy one. The xB windshield is set way back giving you a very spacious front seat area.
Well, I have the Rav4 Prime 2023 and I have to say that is a real beast! super fast, confort, quality materials, etc. The cons for me are the price, $84,000 in Puerto Rico with 783 of credit score and the other problem that we all have is that Toyota won't even let you change the brake pads and the cost of each pair of ceramic pads + toyota cost of installation is around $280 EACH WHEEL!!!
All the points described here are 100% correct. Try a test driving Nissan Rogue SV Premium package which is lesser than the price of Rav4 xle premium. You will feel the smoother ride, quick response from the steering and premium materials. I secured a Rav4 by putting 1000. After test driving Rogue, I changed my mind to go with Rogue only.
#1 Positive NO TURBO LOL!!! #2 Positive no Hybrid!! Want To tow buy a Truck! Go tow alot with others and buy a trans soon lol. I'm still listening! Cargo for it's class 2nd to CRV LMAO Buy a land Cruiser? Got 40 K more jack? On Road performance? lol buy a Mustang and an extended warranty! lol I'm done what a joke jack!
What's better? Making one trip to the grocery store or making two trips to the grocery store to get the same amount of groceries? The 2.4 L engine makes one trip while the 1.5 L turbo makes two trips. 2.4 L engine means less stepping on the accelerator which means more comfort for you as a driver.
This review is off. I recently test drove a Rav 4 and I will be purchasing one soon. Beware of videos that would compare a ford bronco to any Toyota. There is no comparison. The bronco is sporty, but no in the same class when it comes to reliability and safety.
Everything mentioned is absolutely true... One thing not mentioned is the ability to steal the vehicle - it has a major flaw.. This is affecting insurance costs ... A steering lock bar is recommended - not great to have to do this in a modern vehicle.. Do not believe that it is free of wear and tear in the interior.. many reports of early wear..
No Turbo is a PLUS in my book! Yes towing is only 1500Lbs But I had a 6 Cyl Std 1986 Ford Explorer and an 1988 8Cyl automatic Explorer both only rated at 1500Lbs It isn't for off road. Although it does fine. I'm happy with the inside. No issues for me. Yes the screen should have Mapping without your phone. Noise is from the cheap tires it comes with. New tires low noise. The ride is fine for a small SUV Bad backs here and it is comfortable Shut off the lane centering it steers just fine. Lane centering sucks. Price is inline with everything else on the road. BIG and BEST selling point the Rav 4 comes with a REAL Transmission and not a JUNK CVT Everything else in this class has the CVT OK real down points 2021 Rav 4 Engine auto shutoff at stop. Yes they all have it now, it sucks Hold feature should be automatic Need to hit the Auto engine Off and Hold button every time before you drive. I do miss the auto headlights coming on at dusk (Why was that feature removed?) Those are the ONLY downfalls I see. I tow a popup camper with no problem at all I LOVE my Rav 4
no Turbo? That’s not a downside for me - I keep cars… for lang., in fact.. I hardly ever sell.., when I’m done with a car - I give it to a good cause. I digress. My cars last a decade or more - because naturally aspirated… slower - and lasts forever. Keep your turbo
I've got a 2020 Rav hybrid..no issue at all and GREAT fuel economy at 5.4 l per 100 km..which is 44 mpg! VERY popular and considered one of the best..ALSO the plant in Canada has once again WON top spot for quality in the WORLD. CAMBRIDGE, Ontario - June 27, 2024 - Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC) was honoured today with a Gold J.D. Power Plant Quality Award in the J.D. Power 2024 U.S. Initial Quality Study recognizing the world's top automotive plants.
Much of what is mentioned here are my sentiments after a test drive. The seats are awful and the steering was indeed very underwhelming for feed back. I don't know how I could pay roughly 40,000 (starting rate in Canada) for something I would hate driving everyday.
I agree. I bought one and I am unhappy with it. 2024 XLE awd, was in a hail storm and I was scared I would have dents, sounded like I was in a hollow tunnel with or tin can with sound penetrating the cabin. Piece of crap and customer service sucks. Seats are uncomfortable.

rav4 is the best
I consider not having a turbo as a plus. It’s still the best selling compact suv in spite of the negatives you point out. You’re trying to make the RAV4 something it wasn’t meant to be.
Exactly. would rather not have turbocharged.
Yeah. Only a child thinks they're a bigshot if they have a turbocharged engine.
100% agreed
I got mine without the turbo. I want my engine to last for a long time.
WTF???!? Having NO TURBO means less wear on the engine and longer engine life… gobsmacked!! I specifically asked the dealer - NO TURBO - and FORTUNATELY they DONT do turbo!! Imma go outside and hug my 2024 RAV4 that other folks are waiting 3 years to get now…
RAV4 is not made for luxury interior..its made for the best reliability, safety, best mpg, resale and long lasting with least maintenance..
I want a smallSuv, im still on my 1997 TJ jeep, running perfectly, but he is tired
@@titoperez1327Go for RAV4 Hybrid XLE.

theres no excuse they are doing it on purpose so that people are forced to buy overpriced top spec
PLEASE DO NOT TAKE THE TITLE SERIOUSLY! IT'S FALSE!
Proud owner of the 5th generation over here!! BEST SUV I HAVE EVER OWNED!
no. it's not a perfect car..
No turbo is a huge plus in my book!!!
In mine too.Reliability and longevity over performance for me.
Say hi to the batteries + electric engines.. id rather take a good turbo over this 2..
NOTHING beats a Rav4 in quality and reliability. Best selling for a reason
Are you kidding me! A turbo charged engine wears out the engine! This is why I am avoiding the CRV
I wanted to buy a CRV in the next few months, but a friend of mine that owns a 2023 just came upon the gas in the oil problem. She is livid, and I can't say I blame her.
Well duh. That's like saying more power will burn more fuel. Isn't that obvious?
@@krane15More "power" will not wear out the engine.
That's why V8 engines last forever.
same here, I was looking at the CR-V but because it has a Turbo AND a CVT, I passed
Turbos do create more power, but they also create a lot of heat so don't expect them to last as long as a naturally aspirated engine. And if something goes awry with the turbo, they can be very expensive to repair. They also need extra maintenance.

More power and more fun cost money.
Super Cheap? BS!!
It is not cheap but Toyota has the best car for off roading. It is called 4tunners.
It's not cheap brother
Cheap to run but not to buy
We have two Toyotas in our family. One is a 2023 RAV4 Prime SE, the second is a 2010 FJ Cruiser 4x4 (with low-range transfer case, two types of differential locks). We can use each vehicle in different weather and road conditions. We love both of our Toyotas.
I sell Toyota's. The Rav4 Hybrids are amazing.
I purchased the 2024 Toyota Rav4 Prime Se and i'm loving it!!!
Mine is 2017 bought new ...if you consider changing oil tires, brake pad at90,000 miles bad
Ever hear of Range Rover? Its unibody.
Bad example.
@@krane15 It also is a piece of crap no matter how you look at it. What's your point?
No Turbo is a good thing better engine reliability. Agree about the off-road. Subaru is the standard for off-road in this class. Agree about the Cabin noise. I've been a fan of Toyota's for over 20 years. I love them because of the longevity but one area that needs major improvement is insulation! I've been wishing for this for over 20 years now.
The reason I picked a Rav4 over a CRV was because it doesn’t have a turbo
Too much to go wrong
Well, Tech Triumph, you've lost your credibility with this video. You didn't prove why anyone should not buy a RAV4. Anyone who owns one is because ti is one of the best vehicles you can own for the money.
What do you want from a $29k AWD crossover that does 41-mpg & 7.2 sec 0-60?
The RAV4 Prime tops 50K!
Possibly the worst and most incorrect review I’ve ever watched.

Oh wait and the CRV has a CVT as the transmission on it. 😲🤪😅
Our Rav is 20 years old. Best car we've ever had. Bound to jinx it now but never had an expensive job on it.
Turbos increase engine efficiency. You get more power for a smaller size. As for wearing out. Everything wears out, so that makes no sense.
Thanks, nice to know about Wisconsin driving! Looking at getting this SUV!
I just bought the Rav4xle and it’s a very smooth and quiet vehicle in High speed and low speed
Great car
You are comparing rav4 to jeep Cherokee and jeep wrangler, I think it got to be four runners
And if you are buying a SUV to be your new sports car, or want to turn an SUV into a sports car...
Are the seats confortable? Do you get tired after a longer drive? Please share your experience.
Turbocharge is not good for the longevity of the engine. Do you want the engine to last?
No turbo=less complex, no CVT= more durable; more conventional; it is exactly what I need for my parents.
Couldn't agree more CVT REALLY REALLY sucks. I had a 2016 CRV couldn't wait to get rid of it. Only reason was the CVT It isn't a snowmobile for peat sake.
Some of these negatives the typical customer dont really care about like the towing, off road etc
It’ll be stupid to put a turbo on this cars. It’s not designed for towing, off roading and exiting rides.
Simply put the reasons you list in the vehicle are not the reasons people look for such a vehicle to begin with. There's a reason why it's the most popular SUV in North America.
This is the biggest load of jargon unfollowing
Some interior photos are from former generation of that model
This is a robo-video made in a basement in India.
Funny enough... I don't find any of these negatives as actual negatives.
8 reasons? Then why is it one of the best selling if not the best selling SUV for many years? Can’t beat reliability and quality.

The turbo is why we decided to go with a rav 4 non hybrid model. We intend to keep ours until it rots
My own experience it is a non sense getting a turbo engine and I am for 2.5 Lt. atmospheric engine and it will give you more endurance than a turbo engine like you are
describing in your video. I wander if you are paid to sell the turbo engine or otherwise.
Really that's the dumbest thing anybody can say especially if they know anything about vehicles you don't want a four banger with a turbo you're pushing that little mortar way too hard and it's not going to last you might as well just go buy a Chevy if you wanted to buy junk not putting a turbo is the best thing they can do for that motor keep up with the oil changes and that mortar will last a long time Toyota knew what they were doing when they didn't put turbo good job for them
Got myself a 2023 XLE, and I love it 🎉
I've owned 2 turbo charged vehicles (91 MR2 Turbo and 87 RX-7 Twin Turbo).

Strange; I'm 6' and think that there is enough space for me behind the wheel of RAV4. But I'm only at 200 lbs, perhaps you are much heavier.

RAV4, Bestest car ever
Coming from owner of RAV4 TRD off road. Its not just AWS, its the elevated suspension, all terrain tires and more HP that makes off road special. Its never meant to be a competitor of 4runner or Jeep. The only competitor in this segment is Subaru Outback Wilderness. RAV4 is an extremely reliable car with fuel economy of 30-32mpg (non-hybrid). Its meant for 99% of public and no turbo is a huge plus. Noise in the cabin is lower than audi Q5. I am not sure about honda CRV.

Yeah, you can't reasonably come to a conclusion on what you saw there. That could easily be driver failure or insufficient tires.
Old Volkswagen bugs would slowly go over anything. And that's because they had a decent amount of a little bit of torque and essentially no weight. I had one once. And I would have traded it for a new RAV4 and a heartbeat!
Why on earth would you need a turbo, it's not a sports car. The AWD is just fine,
the Rav4 was never designed to be an off road vehicle. All reviewers have to talk
about the infotainment system, in fact reviewers complain about the same things.
All the things you said are comparing it to what it was not meant to be. And no turbo means one less point of engine failure.
I love the fact the 2.4L engine has chain driven timing on the camshaft instead of a belt.
bro here comparing Rav 4 with Cherokee, Jeep and Bronco lol
I don't experience vague steering input. 3:55 I wouldn't say the older RAV4 is more robust. My older RAV4 (2008) had numerous leaky shock problems which needed replacing, swaybar link damage and needed the front suspension replaced. I've driven on gravel logging roads but didn't abuse the car. At least the current RAV4 has 1 inch more ground clearance. I also find the current version more quieter. Road noise is due to the type of tires and ground surface you're driving on. Engine noise doesn't bother me. It sounds like a sports car when you step on the gas pedal.
An engine with a turbo is a trash engine. It’s more problems than what it’s worth.
People always have something negative to say but never say anything about the positive buy what you feel is right for you
I had my 2nd gen Scion xB in for service the other week and they gave me a new RAV4 as a courtesy vehicle.
Why would I need turbocharge when my GR Sport has 302 bhp and can go from 0-60mph in 5.4 seconds?
All the points described here are 100% correct.
Try a test driving Nissan Rogue SV Premium package which is lesser than the price of Rav4 xle premium.
You will feel the smoother ride, quick response from the steering and premium materials.

I love my 2020 rav4 XLE… CHANGED all bulbs to LED, AND SPEAKERS TO JBL.
If I wanted to go fast I’d buy a sports car and if I wanted better off-road ability I’d get a 4Runner 🙄 it is what it is lol
I know, it's such a horrible car, that's why people want to steal it!!!
No Turbo is a PLUS in my book!
Yes towing is only 1500Lbs But I had a 6 Cyl Std 1986 Ford Explorer and an 1988 8Cyl automatic Explorer both only rated at 1500Lbs
It isn't for off road. Although it does fine.
I'm happy with the inside. No issues for me. Yes the screen should have Mapping without your phone.
Noise is from the cheap tires it comes with. New tires low noise.
The ride is fine for a small SUV Bad backs here and it is comfortable
Shut off the lane centering it steers just fine. Lane centering sucks.
Price is inline with everything else on the road.
BIG and BEST selling point the Rav 4 comes with a REAL Transmission and not a JUNK CVT Everything else in this class has the CVT
OK real down points 2021 Rav 4
Engine auto shutoff at stop. Yes they all have it now, it sucks
Hold feature should be automatic Need to hit the Auto engine Off and Hold button every time before you drive.
I do miss the auto headlights coming on at dusk (Why was that feature removed?)
Those are the ONLY downfalls I see.
I tow a popup camper with no problem at all
I LOVE my Rav 4
No turbo is a good thing. It’s not a race car.
I love ❤the rav 4 🎉i had the 2012, 2015,2018 , 2021 and now the 2024 excellent car 🚗
