We have owned Toyotas since 1972 (Toyota Land Cruiser). Now my family still owns Toyota. I own a Toyota rav4 2014. I have 49,000 miles and still have 80% of original brakes. No regrets for all of us owning Toyotas. Next car will be a Toyota 4Runner. Remember EV cars have a low resale value. Actually I will never buy a used EV. We all agree Toyotas are just reliable. Now, Subaru has come along way and they are really good cars.
I’d consider a suitable Honda, Subaru, Toyota, or a Mazda, particularly if they are made in Japan. I wouldn't choose any vehicle with a CVT though. An E-CVT found in the hybrids are great though.
What good is about brake pad that last but the car wont stop. Toyota rav4 has worst stopping power compare to any European SUV. Toyota is a joke. It is a bare bone car. Offcourse it wont break down if there is nothing there to break down.
You can find a person make a negative comment about any particular vehicle. All I know is I have a 2020 Tiguan with 70k miles on it and I have NEVER had to add a quart (or quarts) of oil. Change oil regularly per maintenance schedule. I would agree the third row seating would not be cool for an adult, but come on…..if you bought a Tiguan with a third row for an adult to ride in you are dilutional
I have the VW Tiguan and and actually this is my 3rd one. I don’t want a 3rd row seat. The 2024 is getting better mileage than my 2020 and they are fun and easy to get around. Probably thr best AWD system and great in snow
I have a 2024 Tiguan it’s my 2nd vw and honestly I couldn’t be happier. It does us a lot of gas but I drive pretty far for work but otherwise then that I love Volkswagen
My 1994 Pajero puts your AWD to shame. Mine, you do not have to turn off the traction control to go forward in snow. My Pajero has locking hubs so it get s good milage when in 2WD. It has 2WD, AWD, 4WD hi, and 4WD low. Yours has only AWD and you have to use special driving tactics in snow and on ice just to get traction applied to the tires. I have had to tow several (not just AWD VW's) from unplowed parking lots because the traction control malfunctions and will not disengage, causing no power to be delivered to ANY wheel. Something someone should consider when buying a new AWD vehicle. The question of 'Ca the traction control by easily disengaged when driving on snow and ice?". And you had better know how to do that, or you are not going anywhere....
Everyone's trashing VW, and that's the reasons I didn't want to buy one used. However, I found one in mint condition (I was looking for a used Mazda 3). I've had it for 2 years now, 1.4 TSI petrol - no leakage, no trans issues, nothing. Golf MK7. I went to the store to update the car - most brands don't even have 80% of the features that a 10YO car has. I've tested it again similar year A-class and BMW 1-er. It trumps BOTH of them in terms of value for money. I have test driven the New Tucson (it's great but a bit big for my needs), the CX30 (nice, but not practical), CX5 (great balance, but old infotainment), and the Tiguan. Guess which one I'm buying next.
Vw's consume oil just like BMW. Who wants that? My 07accord with 247k burns 2 qts per oil change. Tiguan doing it with no miles is an inherent engine problem that will only get worse! Junk!
@@johndale8614wrong. I’ve a Tiguan and GTI. No oil consumption. Not trash. Excellent vehicles we’ve never had problems with. Every VW we’ve ever owned has served us well.
I Just purchased a 2024 Toyota Rav4 XSE hybrid less than a week ago and so far I love it. The MPGs is a huge savings from my prior Outback. The ride is quieter and smoother than my prior Subaru outback or Volvo XC 60.
I have a 2022 Explorer ST and outside of recalls, I've had NO problems. I love it! This review is the complete opposite of what I'm experiencing for 2+ years.
Go Girl. Keep the Maintenance up . Especially Oil Changes. Get them done at the Dealership. Don’t trust those quick lube places. My friend had their engine damaged. God Bless 🙏
I don’t like how today, some people don’t get that 3rd row on small size/mid size SUVs are designed for children, or for those who have no need just to make a bigger trunk
excellant comment . back here in uk , had my eye on a new released march 2022 nissan model (so no discounts ), window drive away price was 27/ 28 thousand british pounds ,.jump forward 2 years , same model and spec has a 32/33000 list price , so a uncomfortable 5000 rise in less than 2 years ouch.
I think you are not updated with the current vehicle market! Go for the price checking with the rivals. Nissan and Mitsubishi are the worst, cheapest and poorest in the market both for performance and luxury. If you do have budget limitations then LUXURY vehicles are not for you 😢
Went to nissan dealer recently, the quashkia 1.5 hybrid model in mid range with a glass roof pack was 36 k British pounds plus . Due to a tweaked model arriving in a month or two, which will probably be only a front grill, light and bumper and a remodeled back light , bumper tweak and maybe a slight improvement on interior the price now for outgoing model has been slashed by over 20% . So those on the fence since 2022 due to previous price who like the current shape/model can now get a much better deal on the dealers current holding stock .
Honda like Subaru need to urgently think out of the box and DROP that CVT crap. Also offer enough models then maybe it would not suffer like it is. CVT is dealbreaker and when gluing head gaskets as seals.
My daughter had a VW Tiguan....at 95,000 KM...not miles, it started misfiring and going into LIMP mode ( 30 KM ) top speed to get you home or to a mechanic. She had it back to the VW dealer in Fredericton SEVERAL times. Every time she went back they charged her 160.00 plus to scan it OVER and OVER for the same problem they knew was happening. They changed sensor after sensor THEN decided to CLEAN the intake valves due to the DIRECT INJECTION nightmare. I think that was 1200.00. It worked the very same. They NEVER found the problem....NO fuckin idea what was wrong with their own cars. A couple of months later the ENTIRE INFO system, including the radio quit. They wanted 3200.00 to fix that. It slid off the road in a freezing rain storm and was wrote off... and she thanks God every day for that blessing. You are warned.
I bought a 2023 Telluride X-Line in January of last year. It has 15,327 miles as of today. My Telluride has been flawless! Drove it from St. Simons, Georgia to Bozeman Montana last Fall, and it handled beautifully. I also have a bulletproof 5.7L V8 Tundra, but the gas mileage sucks for 1500+ mile road trips. Sorry you’ve had so many issues. I love my Telluride
@@Sassyyorkie Sassy, you won’t believe it, but today, I got a recall (my first) about the parking brake on my Telluride. Said it’s a “software update.” 🤷🏼
@@saberamuna104 I bought my Telluride brand new in January 2023, and haven’t had any issues whatsoever, not even this “parking brake” recall that came in the mail today. I keep cars for a long time, as long as they don’t become headaches. My 2008 5.7L V8 Tundra was purchased brand new in September 2008 with just 33 miles on the odometer. It’s got 133,941 today. Best most trouble free truck I’ve ever had. I have a 2003 Miata too (British Green with Tan leather interior) that’s only got 63.000 miles. For a “weekend fun car” like my Tundra, it’s been bulletproof. We shall see how the Telluride holds up. If it starts giving me headaches, I’ll sell it, but so far, I love it. It’s an awesome “long trip” suv.
I’ve had a 2019 VW Tiguan that I purchased new 5+ years ago. This is a great vehicle! Gas mileage varies between 26 and 32 mpg. Plan on keeping it until I wear it out!
@@reatygtyuip my 2015 was just totaled in an accident, had 220k miles. Never ran bad, only time it didn’t start was when battery went dead, no warning. Replaced battery and never had an issue. Wife has a 2020, again never a problem. We do have regular oil changes and take care of them.
But CX-5 is smaller, doesn't look as nice as CX-50, has a shorter ground clearance, doesn't ride as well as CX-50 due to smaller wheelbase, it is still a tough choice because CX-5 is cheaper and made in japan, if that matters more to you then go for it.
@@nimishbajaj87 You were wrong. The CX-5 rides better than CX-50. These two are made differently, CX-5 is for great city, highway, country road and some light off-roading. The CX-50 is better off-roading than the CX_5 but falls short of a true 4x4 off-roading vehicle. I drive 99.99% of time on solid road and CX-5 is extremely comfortable. If I do a lot of off-roading even the CX-50 won't be my choice. I test drove the CX-5 and CX-50 a lot before buying the CX-5 just two months ago.
@@alexyu6928 I think it's more about individual choice. I test drove both back to back and I do agree CX 5 rides more comfy but CX 50 is almost like a hot hatch disguised as an SUV. I drive fast and I like that. The handling is also phenomenal. I am saying all these things about the 2023, I have heard they made the suspension softer for 2024 and the steering not as sporty which could be reason for such different opinions we have.
I also text drove both CX-5 and CX-50. I am a happy owner of CX-5 for 9 months. One thing I really support is this CX-5 is affordable Audi with better performance and much less maintenance.
Touch Screen / Infotainment System is a deal breaker for me. The more bells and whistles that are on a vehicle means the more that can go wrong. I want simple reliable vehicle design.
Our Kona 2020 used a lot of oil and the Hyundai Service Centre did nothing and said it was within reasonable limits. Its also quite small and no space. Last Hyundai for us.
So you pinch pennies and buy a vehicle in the smallest category (subcompact) then complain it's too small. GENIUS! I got news for you buddy, every cheap vehicle in the subcompact category is small... that's why they're called subcompacts. If you want a roomier vehicle, spend more money and get a vehicle in a larger category. Just don't pinch pennies on a subcompact then complain it's too small.
We have a 2018 Tiguan with 100 K miles and love it. Change the oil often and there won't be a problem. Took a Rav 4 for a ride to see what the fuss was about and was disappointed, the CVT transmission is not great, I'll stick with the 6 speed Tiguan.

We’ve owned a turbo Kona for 6 years with ZERO issues. On the other hand, over the years, both our Subaru’s had engine failures because the passenger side firewall cylinder is not adequately cooled. Common-ask around. Also, Subaru is years behind on technology advances. For example, they still haven’t adopted a key fob. Poor performing CVT transmissions and under powered engines are the norm. Exhaust pipes run next to CV joints so rubber cover dries out and cracks forcing replacement. Heat shields are so thin they fall off with minimal effort from driving on snowy roads, etc. Toyota offers so much more.
Subaru CVT's are the same as Toyota. Have never had problems with any of mine. My 24 Crosstrek Sport has a key fob and push button start. The 2.0L engine is a little underpowered but still adequate. My sport has the 2.5 and gets up to speed on the highway in plenty of time and I can pass no problem. Nothing on google about inadequate cooling of the passenger side firewall cylinder. I believe you're just a Subaru hater and not objective.
So subjective. My wife has had six FORD EXPLORERs and they are wonderful, highly reliable cars. On the other hand, I currently have a 2023 Cadillac Lyriq. Having owned a Porsche, many Audi’s,, many Lincoln Continental’s, I find the Lyriq is my “so-so” car. So quiet, so smooth, so powerful, so smart, and with SuprCruise, so relaxing. I've had 2 Vauxhall Grandlands now, even if it's not on this list. Fabulous cars and I highly recommend them. However, when i come to change next year I'm not 100% certain I'll have another Grandland. I'm looking at going up a few levels to the Lexus RX, VW Touareg, BMW X5 or similar.

He says they make their money off of Nissan and Mitsubishi. But he did say if you were in the market for a big screen TV Mitsubishi makes good TV’s
They are gas hogs, though. We had one as a rental - we did not like the way it drove, and even driving it at modest highway speeds, could not achieve 19 mpg, combined mpg about 13 mpg. I’d never want to own one.

Bought a Hyundai Kona. Within the first year I had it my battery replaced twice, my transmission failed, a tire blew doing 35 MPH, and the back window would not go down. For a car with less than 5,000 miles, it was in the shop for over 60 days. The transmission module was on "back order" and was in the shop for 40 days alone. I finally dumped it. There is a reason why the warranty is so long.....would never buy another Hyundai.
Strange. I have a Hyundai Tucson 1.7 diesel 2017. NEVER had any problem whatsoever. Zip, zilch. 133.000 km and absolutely nothing, except for scratchy plastics and fragile leather upholstery on the seats. But mechanically the car is very sound, never let me down.
I have had 3 Ford Explorers 2011, 2017, 2025. I have loved all 3! All of the interiors looked as new as when I bought them when I traded them in. I got great trade in value compared to others in its category. Mechanical aspects have never had any issues even the 2011 which was a dramatic change for the model and could have had a lot of “bugs” but didn’t. The 2025 Explorer platinum is exquisite. Luxury inside and out. Tech is outstanding. The leather seats are beautiful. I have owned imports BMW. We plan to replace it with another Tiguan - no reason not to. And what they don’t tell you in this video is that you can buy them without third row seating. That’s what ours is.

The Volkswagen 2.0L turbo is not known to be the most reliable and consistent. I would say she unfortunately got very unlucky with a poorly made engine. Something someone should consider when buying a new AWD vehicle. The question of 'Ca the traction control by easily disengaged when driving on snow and ice?". And you had better know how to do that, or you are not going anywhere....

Toyota and Lexus hybrids are great.
But fun and stylish are always important too
Everyone's trashing VW, and that's the reasons I didn't want to buy one used.
Junk!

excellant comment . back here in uk , had my eye on a new released march 2022 nissan model (so no discounts ), window drive away price was 27/ 28 thousand british pounds ,.jump forward 2 years , same model and spec has a 32/33000 list price , so a uncomfortable 5000 rise in less than 2 years ouch.

I went with the Mazda CX-5 over the CX-50. A sleeker design that's built in Japan and cheaper. I could not be happier.

Which year model ? Sabaru has a new CVT how far I know
Subaru CVT's are the same as Toyota. Have never had problems with any of mine. My 24 Crosstrek Sport has a key fob and push button start. The 2.0L engine is a little underpowered but still adequate. Fact, I wouldn't own a junk Toyota if it was given to me.
Doesn't mean it's a great car.
@@guitarguy5475 it just means they sold a lot of junk cars.
@@am-filwhy did you say that? any proof? millions of people bought them! They are the iphone in the car industry 😂
Rav 4 has same hybrid drive as Lexus UX250h. Both are excellent.
The Volkswagen 2.0L turbo is not known to be the most reliable and consistent. I would say she unfortunately got very unlucky with a poorly made engine. Burning that much oil is absolutely not normal, they just didn’t want to fix it with an engine rebuild. I went with the Jetta with the 1.4L turbo. It has been absolutely excellent with no problems with oil burning. I change the oil and filter every 5k miles.
"may be too slow or too fast to respond" what a load of bollocks
rav4 le gas is surely the worst
@@mohit4902 First time I've heard that. The video says the Rav4 gets 28 City/30 Hwy. So, NOT TRUE?
Last row of any 7 seats vehicles always have narrow on space. If u need more seats and also more space , just buy bus or van.
The Mazda is a great choice but the Hyundai and Kia 6 cyls have had major problems with fires and engines just quitting. I'm not positive about the 2024's but the is no way I would chance it! A CRV or Pilot are better choices.
Honda is having head gasket and fuel dilution problems on the 1.5T in their vehicles including the CRV.
@@moejr1974 Yes if you make short trips constantly. Change the oil every 4000 miles. I work for Honda adn have a Civic that is effected by this. I see them come in for people who are Not changing their oil by time or mileage. Head gaskets are from 2001 to about 2005. We don't really see them unless you don't maintain them.
The Kia and Hyundai problems are with the Theta II family, the 2.0, 2.4 and 2.5L motors, no fires reported with older v6's. I see the Telluride has fire problems with their V6 3.8L.
@@Abbysum1not true. You need to be up to date working for Honda. NEW 1.5 Turbo engines are frequently having blown head gaskets. And isn't it interesting that someone who works FOR HONDA is dissing KIA HYUNDAI ! Yeah, maybe we shouldn't believe everything we hear about them...especially when spoken from their competitor.
have 2012 Rav4 other then three set of tires and two set of brakes and transmission oil. no other maintenance still runs great at 298k kms
Can you guys tell me about mazda cx-30 2024
Get one that's build in Japan. Alternatively, take a look at cx-5
good cars just very small.. cx5 is the same just more space
Great gas mileage for the kia Telluride? It has a 3.8 litre engine
Definitely on point about Mazda being the best
2015 CX5 now at 41,000 and never a murmer. Smooth, well appointed interior and controls. Runs so quietly and no lumpy suspension! A top grade vehicle, and after driving several other marques puts all VW related kit in the shade!!!
@@normanroscatha2753 41,000 is nothing, any mileage under 100,000 is nothing. Wait til you hit 150,000, then it's something.
@@normanroscatha2753 I had a CX3 but hated the service. First service they cleaned the car and ground a large coin-sized mark on the bonnet and knicked the dash leather. Both rear seat selt belt tensioners failed after less than 20 uses. Multiple Exterior trim was loose and quoted a grand to replace. Driving was very noisy inside ... my wife complained that she could hear anything I said.. Replaced with VW T-Cross is much quieter and even though smaller engine hard to keep at speed limit .. it is an ideal city runabout but on weekends I do regular 300km drives. Would not buy a Mazda again. Subaru would be my next choice (for a bigger SUV) for the 4WD.
I have a 2021 Tiguan SE and that car has done wonders, I wonder when you generalize such comments about VW Tiguan, I have only done three oil changes and it hasn't failed me! I wonder which models are we talking about!
What happen to honda CRV?
they went 1.5L turbo and dissapointing engine downgrade
So if you’re going on a long journey in the Kia and it seats six or seven, where do you put all the suitcases?
Good question but you would not do that. It is just an option so that many people could go to lunch together or something similar where no luggage is needed.
Hahaha when I saw the woolly gloves the one presenter was wearing behind the wheel, it explained everything that I was hearing 🤣🤣🤣
I love Honda, the 2024 HRV. Rides wonderfully and steers well.
Whats up dude wha a sbout toyota Carola suv cross haven't youll driven cause they looks so cool
The Corolla Cross was very lackluster for me. Rented one recently and was very disappointed with the engine performance and cheap interior. The cargo space was decent though, and it had wireless Android Auto / Carplay.
Corolla
I am very surprised you didn’t mention HONDA CRV or the PILOT
The best one that he mentioned has engine and fuel problems in some countries
You should do the Lexus tx. Very comfortable and reliable very luxurious.
I have a Volkswagen Tigua 2023 no issues with the oil consumption. That’s just a bunch of BS.
Agree 100%
These days, it's baffling to think that there are people out there who still buy Ford vehicles.
rav4 quiet and comfortable interior?? I've heard of people putting weather stripping on their doors to cut down the cabin noise.
@@DeborahKleinschmidt-t7k they are loud. Wont travel in ours. Noise is torture.
Mine is very quiet
4:52... the voice over says that instead of the Kona, drivers should opt for the Kia Sportage but on the screen it says "Kia Sorento LX 2024"... so which is it the Sportage or the Sorento? Thanks.
Hello Mate. I own a 23 Rav4 Ltd Hybrid. I'm averaging 45 US MPG. Your ranking is wrong, unless you're just comparing pure gas trims. And how about CRV Hybrid and pure gas variants. And CX50.
That's an average, take it with a grain of salt.
