CR-V no contests. I always felt the Toyota tries a bit too hard to be a Subaru, but it just DO NOT have the power. It's just playing a bit too much pretend. The new CR-V finally looks like a grow-up and less "soccer mom". They borrowed heavily from Volvo and Audi and that was a wise move I think.

@@henryhonda8408 I'm with you on both counts there. Although the "no spare" is only on the CR-V Hybrid, the gas version has one (as Jeff showed in this video)... in the hybrids, the RAV4 has the battery under the rear seat so it doesn't encroach on the spare tire well, the CR-V puts the battery under the rear storage space, eliminating the spare tire well.

I drove both. I’ll be honest it was between the CRV and rav for me but I went for the rav. Love both Hondas and Toyotas. The CRV had some small things that were better, but the dealer soured me a little bit by trying to sell me a different color than what I wanted because it’d been on the lot for a minute. The rav sits a little higher, has an awesome ride and does fantastic on gas. I’m happy with my choice.

@@jasonusa Heard that from many people. Honda refuses to bite the bullet and do a redesign on the 1.5 Turbo eng to address the oil dilution issue. Instead they insist that it was taken care of with a programming change that forces the engine to heat up faster in order to burn off the gas in the cylinders earlier. However, if you live in a cold climate and do mostly short trips, I have been told you will still experience oil dilution. If I buy a new vehicle, I do not want to have to be constantly checking the oil for unsafe levels. I don't understand why many on You Tube who review the Hondas with the 1.5 Turbo engines do not mention the possible oil dilution issue.

The Honda has problems with fuel duration 1.5 Turbo. Problems with the valves not being cleaned. The rav 4 has dual injectors that solves that problem, however when u measure the paint there's barely 2.7 mills. Don't swirl the paint up to the point where you have To do any paint correction work.
Keep a good ceramic coating on the paint and it should be good for about ten years.

If you’re looking at a RAV hybrid, we have a 2018 one. Nice vehicle, but the hybrid battery is under the back seat, which results in the folded down rear seats not being flat and flush with the rear cargo space. Anything larger loaded into the RAV will sit at a 20 degree angle, not totally flat like the gas model. A big disappointment, nobody pointed it out, and we didn’t notice until we had it home. And our year doesn’t have a digital speedometer. The ancient needle/dial speedometer just doesn’t meet modern standards.

I would like to have a new one of either model. Right now I am driving a ‘16 Rav4 hybrid. I will never get a new one because of the prices. I have driven 3 Rav4s, a ‘97, a ‘10 Limited v6, and this one and have never had a repair except wreck damage. I will say….I am not as sure about the reliability of the new models. Mine all were J cars, made in Japan.

I feel like when it comes to the mid tier trims, the RAV4 styling looks better. The EXL CRV looks so cheap in comparison to rav4 XLE premium. But the higher end CRVs look so much better! Very premium and luxury looking

GREAT Comparison except ya'll didn't cover the specifics of the engine and Drivetrain! I owned a 2022 CRV EXL awd until a month ago when I traded it for a 2024 Rav 4 XLE awd. Why? Only because We plan on keeping forever! We still have our '05 Accord and it drives like new and has been flawless! When my silverado lease was running out in '22 we wanted to downsize and buy due to mile usage. We wanted a Tacoma/Ridgeline but none were available. We figured we would try a Rav or CRV. Toyota dealers were bumping sticker and Genthe Honda, now Southgate Honda in michigan was not. Poof the CRV. It was absolutely flawless but since we want to keep forever we got the Rav at a slight discount 2 years later at a different dealer for sure. The reason was the Atkinson cycle engine in the Rav. It Has Direct AND PORT injection! I won't have to worry about carbon buildup and wouldnt have worried if the CRV DIDN"T have a Turbo.
Other than that the CRV is a more refined ride and the info system was so much easier to set and run than the Rav. If you're NOT going to keep more than 5 years of 70 k or so, as an owner of both I would have kept the CRV. I sure am glad I have the Rav as long as it lasts like my '05 Accord which we are keeping forever! TY

The Hybrid with the 2.0 will not have a serious carbon build-up issue. That was 5 years ago maybe. If you're worried, give it a fuel cleaner service every 20K. It's easy! The CR-V is a MUCH better car than the RAV-4. MUCH better.

Honda interior is premium compared to rugged finishes of Toyota, crv is wider and longer, Toyota interior is to compact like shrinked....but price wise Toyota is affordable.crv has road presence, rav4 needs new design. And rav4 automatic pickup is bit slower compared to crv cvt, pickup is smoother and responsive. And plus we can clearly know the change in gears in rav4 due to automatic.
