I've owned my Rav4 prime for about 6 months. I do a lot of highway miles. So, the electric 40 mile of all electric really helps save at the pump. After 10,000 + miles my average gas/electric mpg is close to 60! I have a dc stage 2 charger and the full charge only takes about 2 hours. This thing fast and comfortable. No range anxiety. Always get hybrid mileage if I use all the electric juice. Love it!
2 Hours is too fast ~ 30Amps/hour and for sure degradation of the battery over the time is more that another Hybrid... Example: Volt Gen 2 has 17.3KW battery and take 4 hours on Level 2 charge / 8Amps or 12 Amps.

That feature is exclusive to EVs. Your car is receiving AC from the EVSE because no DC power conversion takes place for your car. That happens in the car itself.
I watched a TON of Rav4 Prime videos over the last year and finally got one last month. Already 2500 miles in and loving it. Great video and fair review. I installed a Level 2 charger. With my schedule and commute, the 11-12 hours wasn't cutting it for me. The fact that I've been to the car wash more than I've been to the gas station is worth it for me....getting about 700-900 miles of range per tank so far. Coming from an FJ Cruiser, I'm already pocketing gas money with the Prime. Great purchase compared to all the other cars I was considering. EV only range was the top selling point for me.
How fast can you run it in EV mode? I'd read that they top out at 45mph and that's not even hwy speed. The Lexus plug in hybrid can run to a bit over 80mph before switching to gas. I had my heart set on a Rav4 Prime before I read that.
@@susanmattix9615 Unlike some cars, The Prime will stay in EV mode and you can go well over 80mph WITHOUT the ICE kicking in. You will sacrifice range doing that, but the Prime is capable of extended highway speeds above the limit in EV only. If you switch to Auto, the engine will kick in to assist with acceleration (hence the 0-60 in under 6secs). As far as top speed in EV only, I haven't pushed it to the limit yet but with Sport mode and EV Auto, I got it over 100mph a few times with very little effort.
@@susanmattix9615After a quick experiment and some open highway, in EV Eco mode, I was able to get to 87MPH before the motor kicked in. So I guess there is a limit but 87 isn’t bad. I was going slightly uphill too. Good Luck!
I have 2021 Prime XSE with Premium Package. I love, love, love, this car. Would I buy it today? No, it's too expensive without the $7500 tax credit I got on my 2021. At $50,000+, I can't justify the price. Can I afford it without tax credit? Yes. Do I WANT to afford it? No. So glad I bought it when I did, and did get it as MSRP which was difficult at the time as some dealers were charging $10,00 over MSRP, so $60,000!!!!. The 42 mile EV range does all my daily commuting. I use gas briefly when entering a highway for the added power, and for a couple longer day trips a month. Overall, I use about 5 gallons of gas per month. My electric bill went up $30/month. Overall, I spend about 1/3 on fuel (electric/gas) than I did on my previous Rav4; but without tax credit, I doubt I would recoup $7500 in fuel savings over 10 years. There is a chance in 2025/6 it will be built in USA, and be eligible for a tax credit again. Its is so quiet in EV Mode, and accelerates so smooth, very enjoyable. I do think plug-in Hybrid is the best of both worlds, if on long vacation, you never have to charge it; its just a hybrid then. When anyone considers an EV or PHEV, you need to think about your situation and your needs, these types of cars are not for everyone, or every environment. I bitter cold, EV range is greatly diminished; so PHEV is the no-worry solution. If I did not have a garage to charge it it; I would be less likely buy it. I I lived in an apartment, I would not buy it since no place to charge it. Public charges cost more per mile than gasoline, so charging at home is only way to save money. If you commute within or near 40 miles in total, this can be a good choice. I like the muscle cars of yesteryear, but only choice these days is a Dodge which I would never buy; so this satisfies in acceleration of 0-60 in 5.5 seconds with 300 HP. Stock tires are OK, but if you live in snow country, you will need to upgrade the stock tires. I've seen others do some light off roading with it; I would not, too expensive to do that in my opinion, and I did not buy it for that. I was going to get a sedan, but found getting older this was easier to get in and out. I like being able to use EV or Hybrid when I want. On a long trip, I'll put it in Hybrid, to save my EV for me destination for around town driving; which I prefer the EV mode a lot for that. You can leave in AUTO; which will run in EV mode only unless you need more power, or until EV runs out, then it's hybrid only. There is a Lexus version if you want something more luxury; but was a huge step up for me, coming from a 2005 RAV4 with 200,000 miles. Something to consider for any car; my area dealer and nearby States had huge markups on cars. I took a one-way flight several states away, paid MSRP and drove it home; much cheaper than paying markup. Car only worth so much, if you overpay and get into accident that totals the car; good luck collecting all the money, even with gap insurance. I am 6'3" and am very comfortable in this car. Drove 600+ miles in 1 day, I was fine.
Ps. I bought sight unseen. Grove Regular hybrid which is good, Prime does it better. Bigger battery and its low center of gravity, it handles even better.
I waited almost a year for the 2021, bought it at msp. It was $50,000 out the door, with California sales tax for the xse fully loaded. After a 3500 rebate from the state, and 7,500 federal tax credit, it was cheaper than the regular hybrid they were trying to sell me out here . I love this car, gasoline here is expensive, well over $4 per gal. The most I pay on a remote plugin is $4 per gallon equivalen, less when home charging. I will say that the road noise situation was not great, the first thing I did was remove the cross bars on the luggage carrier. I would say that the complexity and maintenance issues of the electrical system is a non-issue, it is warranted for 100,000 mi and10 years. The RAV4 Prime weighs 1000 lb more than the conventional hybrid, and it will tow 2500 lb., 1000 lbs more than hybrid only. This car has great power, more than my V6 Camry and twice the mileage. The head up display will require non-polarized sunglasses to be visible if wearing sunglasses, polarization will block out the glare in the reflection on the windshield. I bought the top of the line to get adaptive cruise control to give me set following distance, it also has Lane departure correction , well worth it. No regrets whatsoever on this car, it's awesome, 3 1/2 years and I still love driving it .
Just got myself a used 2021 SE. It is quite the inconspicuous sub 6 second 0-60 car! While much lighter on features, I’m pleased to report a lightly used SE is in “rational” price/availability territory. Was actually able to spend a week watching inventory come up in my area and got my first choice color and a fair price.
I just purchased a rav4 prime XSE and I love it!! It’s so fast and it maneuvers so well. Favorite car I’ve ever had. I sold my Infiniti to get this car and it was so worth it!
My RAV4 Prime SE gave me 72 mpg over the past year (Mix Hwy/city). I charge overnight when needed. Our electricity grid is also 99% green. It's gentler on the environment while giving me no range anxiety. Two year wait to get, though.
@@allenwinston9225 Wow!! That's a crazy wait time. Here in Texas, there's no wait list. At least not that I know of. I've seen them here at the dealership just sitting there.
I like this trim you're driving, the total package including its two-tone color. And, I actually trust Toyota when it comes to hybrid more than any car manufacturers.
@@dwnshftThis is what made me feel comfortable enough to get one. Toyota has been making hybrid cars since 2010-ish and while the plug in hybrids specifically are new electric vehicles have also been plugging in for about a decade. The combination of these technologies in a single package is a newer concept but the underlying technologies are not new, they are tested and proven. Moreover, Toyota’s hybrids specifically have been remarkably reliable. I did get a bumper to bumper extended warranty on mine just in case, but I don’t anticipate any major trouble and plan to renew the warranty or get a new car when the warranty expires.
When I ask this question to sales people, they either don't know or would rather avoid it, but: Because the AWD isn't mechanical in the Rav4 Prime, meaning there is no driveshaft to the rear wheels and the AWD is merely electric motors (in the hubs? I dunno exactly) to the rear wheels, does this mean that we don't need to worry about having to change all 4 tires at the same time? This is an important advantage if true, since it is well known that in traditional AWD systems you can hurt the transmission if all 4 tires aren't rolling at at the same rotational speed due to different wear levels. Does anybody know?
My Rav4 Prime will be here in about a week. I wanted to buy one two years ago but availability was the issue so I bought a RAV4 hybrid. I getting $6500 off for leasing my new XSE.. So between my trade value and the TFS cash 6500 I am in. Two years free maintenance is also another Pro that you won't get with a CRV.
The TFS cash helps with the price, but in my case, the dealership was charging insane financing rates. My credit is excellent, but the interest rate on the lease is somewhere between 10.5% and 12. No wonder Toyota is so generous with the incentive. They will make $$$$ if you keep the lease until maturity. Check the financing rate and if high, buy the vehicle and refinance elsewhere AND keep the $6500.00
i just got a 2024 rav4 prime xse. I really like it...but im also coming from a 20 year old, no frills 4runner. the mileage is great, the teech is awesome. my only complaint is i wish it was a little brighter inside (maybe 2 dome lights instead of just the one)
@@davevolz6138 yeah, these are commuter vehicles you’re comparing to luxury sports cars. I don’t have the money to spend on overpriced unreliable European status symbols.
Nice review but nothing about offroad capabilities compared to others ? What about the cabin noise ? what about the driving experience in a twisty mountain road? Additionally which would you choose the prime or the trd ? Does the prime goes better offroad due to its stronger rear electric motors? And you forgot to mention nissan rogue in the equation.
Didn’t do off-road testing with the Prime, but Driving Sports TV channel seems to do a lot of that - ultimately the TRD is going to be better off-road with better tires, coolers, and a more suited AWD system The prime is more fun to drive and more refined on the road than the TRD - and that’s the type of driving I do more of so I’d have the Prime the rogue is nice but the Prime is still what I’d take - we have a rogue video or two on the channel 😎👍
RAV4 Hybrid XSE is $37.385 Prime XSE $47,560 So it is about $10K not $12K. So what do you get for $12K? If you can charge at home, and that is the main reason you bought Prime in the first place and if you have solar you can drive for free in the city. Prime is way faster, over 2 seconds 0-60 faster, can tow way more and get HOV lane pass. Plus Prime has the battery under the floor so the center of gravity is lower and that means better handling on the curves. But it doesn't stop there. Prime has acoustic glass, Hybrid doesn't so Prime is quieter. 19" wheels only come with the Prime but not with Hybrid. Plus get some money back from the state. I got $1K. Some other states give more. And with the lease buyout only available for Prime but not for Hybrid of $6500 the difference in price shrinks to $2500. But one of the most important things is that Hybrid is made in US or Canada by the lazy, drunk, dope smoking farmers who were hired from the failed farms while Prime is exclusively made in Japan by workers who care about the quality. And quality of cars made in Japan indisputably much better.
Great review, I was hoping to hear more about electric only mode, how it drives and when the gas engine kicks in and all that jazz. Also curious about its Lexus counterpart, and if you think it’s makes sense to pay up for the luxury.
electric mode drives pretty much like any other electric car just without a whole lot of OMPH - if you manually select EV mode you can stay in electric even if you floor it, otherwise if you have it in auto EV/HV then flooring it will kick on the gas - transition is smooth..classic toyota hybrid stuff the NX450h+ is VERY nice and it does FEEL luxury, but you do get a smaller package (rear seat and trunk) so just weigh what's most important to you
I use EV most of my commuting week. You can choose EV or Hybrid, or leave in automatic. I use about 5 gallons of gas per month for a couple day trips. EV mode is so smooth, I love it. When entering a highway, I switch to Hybrid for the power, then back to EV. If driving along and your battery runs out, you will hardly notice then change; but you will notice it more and hear engine obviously when you start from a stop. I love how quick it is off the line, nobody expects it, and does not know your hard accelerating in EV since it make no noise, but if you want full power, put in Hybrid mode or Auto.
I noticed the site does not have the Prime Package available in their build for whatever reason when I was researching. And some listings I saw for incoming vehicles at local dealerships were inaccurate. I would recommend calling any dealer that has a listing to get the actual VIN and corresponding info, I ended up finding an XSE w PP that way. Good luck.
I bit the bullet and got a 2024 Prime XSE at the end of Oct ‘24. The Plug-In/PHEV feature was my main consideration. I have a couple of L2 charging station in my work parking lot and the ability to do a standard L1 charge overnight when I’m visiting my family over the weekends. The price point almost made me stay my hand as I could have gotten any other Toyota hybrid or even a Lexus hybrid for roughly the same price if I had just foregone the plug in “prime” trim, but the dealer had incoming stock from Toyota Japan, and it was likely the last the dealer was going to get before the end of the year. Sadly, the metallic silver, which I have seen on countless TH-cam videos featuring the RAV4 Prime, was the one and only stock incoming. I would have loved a blue or a charcoal colorway, something I haven’t seen on the road or in all these videos, but I’m guessing that’s the only color coming out of Toyota Japan for the Prime. If someone was able to lock in any of the other colors, you would be lucky indeed! My model also had the weather package, but it’s missing the Panoramic Moonroof (I only have the standard Moonroof) I don’t think I have the rear passenger heated seats, the rear hatch “kick” sensor, the 360 degree camera array, and the HUD is also missing, IIRC they are all part of the “premium” package options. Also, although I do love the look of the LED highlights, I would have preferred the more functional fog lamps if I had that option available to me. Aside from all that, I’m loving the practicality of topping off the charge and running EV mode for the majority of my shorter trips!
@@luperon Actually it sits high so you see ground more if you are above average tall. Mine is XSE, so no passenger power seat. I'm not even a 6ft tall yet I would rather drive than seat in a front passenger seat. I would've bought the Limited or the Prime had I known this but went for the look of xse. I'm driving mine almost 100% so I'm good but feel bad for front passenger.
Great video!!! We just bought the Prime XSE Sky metallic yesterday. There were no other colors available but it’s a classic color. I’ve had a Honda pilot and several CRVs though the years. Honda doesn’t have a plug in as you know in the USA. We were ready to get a plug in Hybrid 💙
My 2021 Highlander Hybrid Platinum was just totaled in a deer collision on I-39 headed towards Madison. I am highly considering this as a replacement. My other choices are a Land Cruiser and RX 500 F Sport but this Rav 4 Prime is winning my heart and wallet.
I was looking at one of those until I found out it doesn't come in AWD (I live in IL) so I bought me a 2023 Corolla Hybrid LE AWD ..... After owning it 1 1/2 years now I can truthfully say it is one fantastic car with fantastic MPG and it cost me $29,000 OTD.
@@Riley_1955 Was it worthy? I think I would go for Rav4 hybrid since the Plug in charging is soo limited and really annoying to charge for that amount of charge.
I would not worry about plug in reliability. I owned a PHEV Honda Clarity for six years and had zero issues with the power train. Loved that car - worked pretty much the same way as the Rav4 Prime. My key maintenance cost was that the special, fuel efficient Michelin tires wore much more quickly than expected. Just over 30,000 miles - tires finished. I test drove both the Rav4 Hybrid and Plug in and there are differences besides price (big ouch!!) and additional equipment. The plain Hybrid had booming, annoying (to me) engine noise when the gas engine accelerated. The ride was OK, not great, nothing special. The PHEV, which is much heavier, drove with a much more solid feel and the engine noise a fraction of the Hybrid. The acceleration was fantastic. Perhaps the double layer glass made an acoustic difference. Yes, it's more expensive and very difficult to find, but I got a much better price when using the Costco no haggle Auto Buying program. There's also currently a Toyota $6500 program if you lease the Prime (Expensive financing, but you can pay off the lease immediately and refinance elsewhere if you want) All this made a big difference to the price I test drove the Honda CRV Hybrid (no plug in available) - nicer all around than the comparable Rav4 Hybrid . However, the Honda CRV also had the booming engine noise on acceleration. The $7500 federal rebate does not apply to the 2024's because the Rav4 PHEV is made only in Japan. That may change in a year or so. I heard Toyota is building a battery plant in the US.
@@PostprandialTorpor I purchased my Rav4 Prime new two months ago, via the Costco program. I got the $6500 reduction, but was forced to lease the car to get it. Expensive money, somewhere north of 10% effective interest rate. I checked very carefully before signing to ensure I could pay it off very quickly. The dealer was vague about it -- perhaps they suffered some penalty for early prepayment and definitely did not encourage it. Toyota Finance assured me there was no penalty. One month after the transaction was complete, I paid off the lease in full with zero penalty. Another benefit of the Costco program was the no haggle pricing -- suddenly most of that dealer markup over list evaporated. I am very happy with the car. It is getting better mileage on full electric than the specs indicated.
My dash board on my 2024 XLE rave 4 hybrid looks totally different. Mileage is not as good as it said it would be 36max. I’m not happy with it. Also the driver seat is not comfortable for a long drive. My previous car was the 2013 Avalon hybrid. Loved that car😢
My limited RAV 4 hybrid 2024 ECO mode on city traffic is 42.9. D mode on highways is close 42.5. Found - recycling/refresh History on Setting helps to improve miles per gallon.
You showed that the Rav4 Prime has the hold AC function, but does it have a regular remote start like a regular vehicle for heat that is with the remote and not the Toyota app?
I have owned a 2024 Rav4 Prime for approximately a month. I have tried multiple times the three locks and hold to remote start but to no avail. The only thing that seems to work is the hold AC but unfortunately the heat pump isn't quite enough to warm up the car when it's -20°C or lower.
@@Stipajio Aha, everyone rags on the bolt for being old fashioned but the resistive heater worked flawlessly when it ws about that cold here. The problem with heat pumps is that when there's no heat outside, it can't move heat into the car.
You don't START the car; it always initiates in electric mode when you push the start button. The climate control will automatically start and be set for the temperature that you left it on, whether it's a heat or cool situation; the heat pump performs both. This could be a problem in extreme cold climes where heat pumps are not as effective. Since I'm in San Diego, (La-La Land), no problems. If we have the dogs in the car and stop to shop on a hot day, we can leave, hitting the 'hold AC' button after we lock it up, and the dogs remain in air-conditioned comfort. If you do this, it's a good idea to leave a sign on your dash noting that the air is on so do-gooders don't break your windows to save the dogs.
I have a 2023 Toyota RAV4 hybrid, non plug-in, What I don’t like: miss align hood to fender, passenger side blind spot monitor doesn’t work properly, not a true AWD, and no full size spare tire. What I do like, plenty of power, just me alone driving, I can get 42 mpg.
You get that much snow in Texas? If so are you in the Panhandle? I'm in northern Ontario where most winters we get snow for 6 months but this year snow didn't arrive until after Jan 1st which is record breaking.
I was amazed at the fuel economy of a 2021 Rav4 AWD 2.5 8A I rented for a week for some cross-country driving. I was seeing mid 30’s mpg per the cluster. I would have accepted high 20’s for something with awd and a higher profile. The acceleration, even in the non-hybird model, was adequate for freeway passing as the powerband stretches pretty high. An acquaintance has a prime on order since about October 2023 and should take delivery in summer 2024. Thanks for the review, and yes, absolutely bring on the sun 🫥
Performance. Also, your daily commute back and forth to work can be 40+ miles on electric. That about equivalent in cost to 90+mpg in gas. So, if you're like me with a 30mile commute to work both ways youre not buying gas....period
You get the best of both worlds. You have the benefit of going full electric without any range anxiety. Depending on your route, you may never need to engage the gasoline engine. Note: you still have to run the engine periodically to keep it functioning properly.
I have over 50,K miles on my 2021 Prime, and am averaging approx. 105 MPGe. I charge it with a 230v plug in the garage, and my 34 solar panels enable God to pay for the power used. Most of my driving is strictly electric. Here in San Diego, gasoline is over $5.00 / gallon, but I very rarely use it.

@10:40 At least Toyota recognized the importance of a rear view mirror camera. That's something the VW Tiguan has yet to adapt. In fact, that's true with all the German manufacturers. It really is something desperately need in all SUVs and many sedans to compensate for their poor design. @14:40 Sorry, but performance is not something you get on any mid-size SUV, with the exception of the Hyundai Kona N. At present, they're the only manufacture that has attempted to actually add sport to their "S"uv. However, the Kona is a sub-compact, where the Sportage is the direct competitor to the RAV4. The interior is very dated, and there's a lot of scratch plastic in the touch areas. In addition, most manufactures have moved away from the big shifter in the center to free up more usable storage space
No space tire on the Prime model. That may not be a killer but it certainly is attractive. We had a poor experience with a flat tire even though we were in a city at the time. A spare tire is an important check off on my list.
They've been making hybrid cars for so long they outcompete other makers. I have a Subaru Crosstrek Plug In Hybrid and it's no where near the Rav4 Prime.

We’ve had six Toyotas over the years. Love my 2021 Prime, BUT, door handles are way too far forward, rear hatch is very slow, and Toyota REFUSES to heat the steering wheel all the way around. I told the dealer I would only pay 2/3 the price for that feature, as that’s all that’s heated 🤓
Typical Toyota engineering, 'design the feature to perform the desired function!' Please note, the steering wheel heater is electric, and they want to use as little power as is necessary. The steering wheel heater is absolutely perfect for where your hands should be when driving, left at 8:00 to 10:00 o'clock position, and right at 2:00 to 4:00 o'clock position. Heating the entire wheel would be a waste of energy.

ANOTHER difference between CR-V hybrid and Toyota Rav4 Hybrid and/or Prime, the Toyotas come with an included full sized spare tire + jack and other equipment. Honda....NOTHING.
Very informative! Thanks for the info. I was considering the prime but I think I'll just go with the Rav 4 hybrid xse model.

I mean there is a reason that there’s a 2 year waitlist for the Rav4 Prime, everyone wants it
mmmmmmmhhmmmmm
I live in the Milwaukee burbs. I place an order with a dealer. It is about a year and half wait.
@@allenwinston9225 Wow!! That's a crazy wait time. Here in Texas, there's no wait list. At least not that I know of. I've seen them here at the dealership just sitting there.
Very enjoyable to hear you two talk about this car, thanks. Lot of great energy from you two.
Have a 2021 Rav4 Prime Hybrid. Nothing but highway and countryside miles. Rav4 Prime pays for itself. Worth every penny worth.
You forgot to mention the Rav4 hybrid has a spare tire. That aspect alone ruled out the Tucson and the CRV hybrids for me.
I like this trim you're driving, the total package including its two-tone color. And, I actually trust Toyota when it comes to hybrid more than any car manufacturers.
As you should! They do the best hybrid in the game
Their ecvt is pretty well developed at this point. It's bulletproof
I rotate my tires regularly (suggested every 3k to 5k for an awd vehicle), so they wear evenly. Not sure if this is an answer.
Hold A/C will heat the cabin in cold weather too
My Rav4 Prime will be here in about a week.

The AC from the remote starts the air system to whatever temperature you left it set so it will cool or heat the car in advance, not only cool it.
Didn’t do off-road testing with the Prime, but Driving Sports TV channel seems to do a lot of that - ultimately the TRD is going to be better off-road with better tires, coolers, and a more suited AWD system
The prime is more fun to drive and more refined on the road than the TRD - and that’s the type of driving I do more of so I’d have the Prime
the rogue is nice but the Prime is still what I’d take - we have a rogue video or two on the channel 😎👍
Why can’t they blend the center screen into dash instead looking like a iPad screwed to the dash as a second thought
I liked that my 2023 Corolla Hybrid LE AWD was made in Japan instead of the states myself.
Special thanks to our Patreons for their support of the channel! Would you splurge for the Prime or get a RAV4 Hybrid? Or get something else?
Great review, I was hoping to hear more about electric only mode, how it drives and when the gas engine kicks in and all that jazz. Also curious about its Lexus counterpart, and if you think it’s makes sense to pay up for the luxury.
electric mode drives pretty much like any other electric car just without a whole lot of OMPH - if you manually select EV mode you can stay in electric even if you floor it, otherwise if you have it in auto EV/HV then flooring it will kick on the gas - transition is smooth..classic toyota hybrid stuff
the NX450h+ is VERY nice and it does FEEL luxury, but you do get a smaller package (rear seat and trunk) so just weigh what's most important to you
@@dwnshft Thank you so much for these details, you are rad.
@@CHESVADS You are so helpful! Thank you for sharing this experience. Time to get on the wait list. 🤓
I have looked all over Toyotas website, how do you get the panoramic sunroof option on the 24??????
premium package has it.
Good luck.
Shop around different dealerships. Since availability is limited it’s a mission to find one unless you reside in California.
Is there a timing chain that will need replacing in the gas motor?
I don’t believe so. The eCVT engine is actually a planetary gear set so no transmission in the traditional sensor chain
Can you adjust passenger seat height on any Prime trim? How tall are you with pink pullover?
He said he’s 6’1”
@@yossarian67 Thank you.👍
Seat look low and uncomfortable.
CR-V and RAV4 are the top shots on this category, with absolute justice. They aren’t perfect, but they’re an overall outstanding product.

We have owned the Prius prime for a year and we love it. We will upgrade with Rav4 prime later.
nice!
There's also currently a Toyota $6500 program if you lease the Prime (Expensive financing, but you can pay off the lease immediately and refinance elsewhere if you want) All this made a big difference to the price
I test drove the Honda CRV Hybrid (no plug in available) - nicer all around than the comparable Rav4 Hybrid . However, the Honda CRV also had the booming engine noise on acceleration.
The $7500 federal rebate does not apply to the 2024's because the Rav4 PHEV is made only in Japan. That may change in a year or so. I heard Toyota is building a battery plant in the US.
If you go through the Costco program, do you still have access to the $6500 leases rebate?
We might go with this. We have a CX5 and are looking for something at least same size but prefer bigger and need something with great mpg
this would do it then! or even a RAV4 hybrid
but if you're looking for a more "lux" feeling interior then CRV feels a little more upscale
X5 would be perfect for their needs. Very roomy
You showed that the Rav4 Prime has the hold AC function, but does it have a regular remote start like a regular vehicle for heat that is with the remote and not the Toyota app?
I don't think you can turn just the heat on, but I'm pretty sure you can remote start the car with the key.

What I don’t like: miss align hood to fender, passenger side blind spot monitor doesn’t work properly, not a true AWD, and no full size spare tire.

What's the benefit of this over a regular hybrid that you don't have to charge?
Performance. Also, your daily commute back and forth to work can be 40+ miles on electric. That about equivalent in cost to 90+mpg in gas.
So, if you're like me with a 30mile commute to work both ways youre not buying gas....period
You get the best of both worlds. You have the benefit of going full electric without any range anxiety. Depending on your route, you may never need to engage the gasoline engine.
Note: you still have to run the engine periodically to keep it functioning properly.
If you dont plug in at home, just go with reg hybrid. If its too weak, upgrade to X3 or Q5. Might even check base Macan.

We’ve had six Toyotas over the years. Love my 2021 Prime, BUT, door handles are way too far forward, rear hatch is very slow, and Toyota REFUSES to heat the steering wheel all the way around. I told the dealer I would only pay 2/3 the price for that feature, as that’s all that’s heated 🤓
lol what did the dealer say to that 😂
And the heater is useless
Typical Toyota engineering, 'design the feature to perform the desired function!' Please note, the steering wheel heater is electric, and they want to use as little power as is necessary. The steering wheel heater is absolutely perfect for where your hands should be when driving, left at 8:00 to 10:00 o'clock position, and right at 2:00 to 4:00 o'clock position. Heating the entire wheel would be a waste of energy.

You probably have a long torso. But that's a good observation a lot of reviewers overlook.
I have 23 rav4 xse hybrid and I agree. I feel bad for taller passengers. I wonder if Limited trim has passenger seat height adjustment.
I wish this got the EV tax credit😩
In Canada we get a $5000 rebate for the Prime...... Quebec & B.C. get an extra $3000 I believe.
@@henryhonda8408 good for yall
@@henryhonda8408actually it’s 10,000$ total rebate in Quebec
the trick is you lease then buy out the lease. I just did that on an XSE with premium package. ended up being 10K off MSRP.
Overprice! NO EV for me.
That's not an EV lmao
Annoying 7 bips whenever you open/close a door. when wife and childrens are moving around, even the neighbor asked me if this F…. can shut up. Non-existent towing eyelet in front, even if the owner manual says its there. Obey, yes : Obey traffic… really ? a car telling me to Obey ???, annoying bip/message in console after driving and recurrent: take a coffee break. and i dont like coffee. Yes i have one for reliability, value… but the electronics are turning me off. and i wont even talk about the S.. Toyota App and Carplay, would be another para.
Can these features be manually turned off
