- Hey everyone! In today's Challenge we try to find out whether you can beat Sonic Heroes WITHOUT Collecting Any Rings!
Now this one was a wild challenge to route, having to contend with playing the game 3 times over each with varyingly degrees of changes; really made for a confusing and interesting experience. I do have to apologize for the delay, as the scope of the challenge only continued to grow the further we progressed.
Part 2 covering Team Chaotix will be releasing in a few weeks time so I hope you look forward to that!

I can't wait for Sonic Adventure 1, or Sonic Adventure 2 maybe I can! Can you beat Sonic Adventure 2 LAST STORY without collecting any rings? I guess I could always do so in Sonic Adventure DX; or Sonic Adventure 2 battle, Shadow The Hedgehog is my favorite character, especially his battle against the Biolizard, like Super Shadow vs Super Sonic, or Super Shadow vs Eggman! Same with Tails and Knuckles, and even Sonic The Hedgehog!!! Sonic... Did you guys read those Sonic Frontiers Leaks? Insane right?! What about Sonic Origins or Sonic Prime? Maybe even the Sonic Movie and Sonic Movie 2, I might do a Sonic Movie 2 Review when it comes out, my favorite port has to be Sonic Adventure 2 battle and I hope we get a Sonic Adventure 3 someday. For sure I'll be doing a Sonic Adventure 2 review, maybe even cover some Sonic Leaks and Sonic discussion... The reason those pumpkin ghosts seem so sketchy to homing attack off of is actually because of their long spawn animation. You can't lock onto them until that animation finishes. So you just have to stall in the air briefly after each homing attack and you should get through it consistently.

Gotta love how they carried over the boss difficulty from Sonic 2 and Sonic CD rather than Sonic 1 or Sonic 3K.

Loved this video, and I love this series. I dread the day you run out of Sonic games to do ringless runs of. And I think I commented this before on another one of your videos, but I still really don't think that rings that are collected before you have control of the characters should count. At that point, they aren't rings you collected, they're rings you arbitrarily start the level with. Not that it really matters all that much since each team seemed to collect plenty of other rings anyway, but still.

yessss ive been waiting! i also dont think that rings youre forced to start the level with count as rings collected, as most of us seem to agree is the case.
i also think the discrepancies of the levels between the different teams is interesting; adds a bit of spice and variety to what otherwise would just be the same thing with different skins, but i imagine it was absolutely horrible to have to navigate around for this challenge LOL

I agree honestly, to be honest I thought going in maybe heroes wouldn't have that many mandatory rings, it's by far the worst in that regard. XD
Oh for sure, more than anything it just left me confused. Like some of the alterations I noticed and just had to sit there asking why they even bothered. 🤣

So by these rules, explains why Amy still pursues Sonic even though her route is impossible Ringless.
Because Team Sonic had to collect a bunch of rings at bullet station.
Explains why Amy chases Sonic down at the end of team Sonic's ending.
As for Tails well...
Looks like he's going down to the altar with cream.

I'm honestly not surprise by the conclusion. I should know; I've played this game many times... from the PS2 version. Even past its NUMEROUS glitches and bugs and jank, I still think Sonic Heroes is fantastic. I'm glad we did get this game, it has many elements I liked and DIDN'T like. I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the levels are a breathe of fresh air. Compare it to Forces, yes, these are better levels. And I didn't mind the fighting of the game... when it worked. Plus the story wasn't so bad. Wish it was done a BIT better, especially for the true ending.
Anyway maybe Team Chaotix you'll- oh no wait, there's one mission that makes it near impossible.

Honestly I agree, and to be completely honest I'm shocked as to how solid the game stayed throughout the 3 playthroughs. Cant think of a time where the game actively messed me over, or where my mistakes wasn't my own fault.

In regards to Hang Castle (and Mystic Mansion I guess) not having any inspiration from previous levels all I can say is:

When I was a kid, I would actually cheese the final fortress laser with flight formation as well. I felt like a bad ass when I was finally able to do it in speed formation by holding down the b button.

i did not remember all the characters being so weirdly shiny...
i get what they were trying to do but i HATED casino park & bingo highway so much. It would've been way cooler if the pinball tables were done with a sonic adventure style perspective of looking down on them. wouldn't have made me sick to look at either

And a funny note to make you laugh, we turned the boss of this dungeon in our D&D session into a human baked potato. XD

Green hill zone act 1. Its tough terrain. Classic sonic hits different with ring layouts.
Definitely,. especially when you can't physically move around the rings like a 3d game.
And you also cant spindash in Sonic 1
