If you're desperate for more LENGTHY video CONTENT - you're in luck. I've just posted a new video covering the entire ONIMUSHA SERIES. It's a lengthy exploration of one of the great lost franchises and how it almost destroyed the company that made it. Enjoy! - th-cam.com/video/6zI6lW3BjZ4/w-d-xo.htmlsi
Me too! I turn auto play off, TH-cam turns it back on again and I wake up in a video like this. I mean, looks good, but not my niche. I’m a little annoyed because I’ll be spammed with ads now.
Nope, Same here😅 I love a good lengthy video about good game franchises. I played a lot of fate of Atlantis back in my childhood on the Amiga.Glad I found this channel. It's a joy to watch! It is clearly well researched and made with a lot of passion. Keep on going!😊
@@IFinishedAVideoGame eeh some of us just pull it back to the start to listen to it after waking up to it. There are multiple great channels I wouldn’t discover if it weren’t for YT starting to play them while I’m sleeping.
I was the lead designer and writer of Staff of Kings PSP, and this video MADE MY DAY. We were always working with limited budgets and timeframes at Amaze, and the end of a project was usually a letdown as we let the game stumble out the door. Hearing someone appreciate one of those old games, so many years later, really makes me happy. Thank you! (I work at Undead Labs now, and these days, we get to take WAY TOO LONG on a game, instead!)
That's extremely cool to hear! Whenever I do these licensed game videos I always try to be fair to whatever game I cover and go in with the view that it's often the circumstances that prompt low quality games rather than anything nefarious on the part of the developers! That being said I really enjoyed Staff of Kings PSP - it was something of a tonic to the unending frustration of the Wii version! Were you there while the studio was working on Lord of the Rings Tactics? That was another unexpectedly interesting licensed game I covered and I was surprised to see it also came from Amaze!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame I was around, but the studio had a LOT of individual teams and internal divisions (making like a dozen different games a year), so I wasn't involved at all in LOTR. I knew that was one of the ones we were prouder of as a studio, though! (I won't point you towards ALL the games I worked on, because some of them really were unmitigated disasters. Please never do a retrospective on Kung Fu Panda games, because that is a source of deep shame.)
@@mackenzieregis1351 Yeah, I don’t know how that would have been possible. Maybe someone did a bootleg port of the PSP version? Was that a thing? I have no idea.
This is a video I either always wake up to or it's in my recommendations after another longer video that I have fallen asleep towards either way due to your dedication I'll be watching this video throughout the next week and a half😭✊🏾
Don’t want to sound too over the top here 😅 But your research, voiceover and presentation set the gold standard for retrospectives on TH-cam. You should be really proud. Keep up the great work!
That's extremely kind and generous of you - thanks so much! This week has been a real slog as I've been working 14 hour days of editing while we have a heatwave. I'm not gonna lie, it has at times been rather miserable so getting feedback like this really makes it all worth it. I really appreciate it and hope you enjoyed watching it!
@@jonathanstark9147neverknowsbest. I agree. Those two are for my taste the absolute best, when it comes to retrospectives. I do not like the retrospectives, where its mostly a retelling of every single quest in the game. For me neverknowsbest and i finished a videogame found a really good balance between retelling, analysing and contextualising.
@IFinishedAVideoGame really is a true blessing in this greedy and soulless videogame world. I can't state how much I appreciate your thorough and comprehensive work, the research that went into it and of course your mastery of not merely recollecting facts about oldies but actually opening your audience to marvelous tales of level design and game crafting found in obscure or forgotten gems that often set huge milestones in the industry. MUCH LOVE
Let's all hope Dial of Destiny actually delivers eh? Hopefully this video can provide some feature length Indy content even if it doesn't... Also here is the link to my Patreon in case you want to support the channel which is obviously massively appreciated (especially in the event Disney come after me) - patreon.com/IFinishedAVideoGame
Yeah it's a bit of an odd one with the Lego games. I did the same in the LOTR video and the justification is really just that I don't want the back end of the video to be dominated by Lego games when they don't have a huge bearing on the wider story of the franchise. I almost think they exist in their own world separate to the rest of the franchise but for both LOTR and Indy there are only two so I might as well chuck them in! Hopefully that explains it!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame It does, but since the portable is a throwback to traditional Lego gameplay, I'd argue it's a Staff of Kings on PSP situation. And that anyone watching that many hours deserves to know there's another game worth checking out.
As someone who was the target age of Lego games when the Lego Indy games came out, I can actually say that a lot of us grew up on these movies (thanks to our parents having grown up on them too) and so we were never confused by the cutscenes' reliance on knowledge of the source material. Indiana Jones and the original Star Wars trilogy were staples of my, and other kids', childhoods.
plus if it made us curious, we could always ask our parents to show us the movies to get a deeper understanding of the story. but yeah, those movies are classics, everyone's seen them lol
i can NEVER EVER get in to the Lego games/movies hype. They basically just take what is very famous and then Lego-ize it. It's almost kind of plagiarism and i hate they have such huge success
I'm kinda baffled that we haven't gotten a Telltale-style episodic adventure game. It's the perfect fit for this franchise, not only for striking a balance of narrative and puzzle focus with quick bursts of action across a variety of locales, but because episodic adventure is literally the storytelling format of the old cliffhanger serials that Indiana Jones is based on.
Telltale have worked with Lucasfilm on games before, they even made a Monkey Island game at one point! I wouldn't put it past new Telltale being able to call up someone to get the license!
@@JeronimoStilton14 The did, but the name, IP, and some of the old people were bought up and restored by, either Gearbox or Devolver. I think, not so sure on who did it. But they definitely are back. They published The Wolf Among Us 2 a couple months ago, and they have some other projects in the works.
@@Satellaview1889 Some of the old guys formed a new company, Dramatic Labs. They made a Telltale like Star Trek game called Star Trek: Resurgence and it's great if you like 90s Star Trek and Telltale games. It really does feel like 90s Trek as well, not the new Star Trek
A little known fact: in "The Last Crusade - The adventure game", you can prevent Elsa to leave with the grail, saving her. This really shows how Lucasarts was committed to give the players as much freedom approaching the puzzles as possible!
Wow I actually had no idea? Which is pretty insane considering I played through it quite a few times for footage and notes! It's such a cool little game
@@IFinishedAVideoGame Yep! The trick is: after saving your father with the grail, you have a split second to grab it before Elsa does. If you do, you can give it back to the knight for an alternate ending. It's really a masterclass on how to do branching paths without making a game collapse onto itself!
@@RappingNinja Yeah. I remember that in that ending when the subject of Indy being named after the dog comes up she muses about her mother having a cat named Elsa.
Hyped because Fate of Atlantis is literally one of the best games ever. Edit: I’m glad you brought up the voice acting for Indy in Fate of Atlantis. The impression of Harrison Ford as Indy that Doug Lee does is uncanny. Just amazing.
Honestly he nails everything about the character. It's absolutely crazy that he'd hardly had any high profile jobs before stepping into the recording booth for Fate!
Damn man I LOVED Fate of Atlantis. It was one of my very first games and took me more than a year to finish, I played the undubbed italian version tho, never knew there was a dubbed One.
I had that game as a kid on PC and loved it but could never beat it. I would get stuck on the boat not knowing what to do. I have it on steam now and really want to do a play through
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade on DOS was the only game my dad played with me. I still have the physical journal they included to solve puzzles. Thanks for reminding me of these games.
OMG! I thought i was the only one who had this experience...my dad and I, rare moments of bonding. Never known anyone else who even knows of the games.
me and my dad tried and failed to beat the water temple that was funny thinking back having since completed the game many times lol.. Pinball was big in bars in my day too and also my dad gave me a fortune in change so i could complete silent scope a sniper arcade game with big rifle and 2nd screen in the scope :D good times
Whether Dial of Destiny delivers or Lucasfilm have just dumped another egg in our faces, all that matters if you've pumped out another legendarily comprehensive piece of gaming history!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame I never played Uncharted but jesus somebody just give me a more modern Tomb-Raider style action-adventure game where I'm Indy and I'll f ucking play it lolol No worries dude, keep doing what you do!
That's really cool to hear considering I really try to make the videos have a laid back atmosphere. No crazy editing, no goofy faces, no lame jokes - just chilled stories about the golden age of gaming!
I may not be an Indiana Jones fan, but I am a big I Finished A Video Game fan so you know I gotta binge all 3 hours and 46 minutes in one sitting. Interested to learn about these Indiana Jones games though cause I've never played one before haha
Honestly I consider it the biggest compliment if someone watches and enjoys one of my videos without knowing anything before hand! Hopefully it's a good watch!
I usually watch retrospectives to sleep and never think about them again, but this one feels different. It's the first video of this type I watched in its entirety and I enjoyed every second of it. Thank you for almost a week's worth of entertainment in my free time. I'm definitely going to watch the LOTR retrospective you've mentioned a few times next. It's an instant subscribe for me
That's really awesome to hear. I know it's sound absurd but knowing I've gone from sleep video to watch video is a pretty big compliment in 2024! Hope you enjoy the LOTR one!
I watch your videos as "sleep videos" but that's the biggest compliment in my book. It's what I crave for after a tiring long day, it's soothing and relaxing. My "sleep videos" are the most valuable for me :D@IFinishedAVideoGame
@@IFinishedAVideoGame it was one of several odd shareware games that ended up on one of the PCs my dad had in his man cave. I really liked the art style which reminded me of SNES/Gameboy Zelda. Thanks for the video, man. I hope you have a great day.
It's time for the old man to show the kids why He is the reason to why Lara Croft and Nate Drake excist in the first place. I hope the new Indiana Jones game come sooner than later. The Emperor's Tomb is my favorite Indiana Jones game. Another great video, I always smile when I see a new video from you.
This is so insanely generous of you. It means a huge amount so thank you from the bottom of my heart. It's amazing to hear people who have no familiarity with the franchise enjoying the video. It's really the ultimate compliment in a way - so thank you once again and hopefully I'll continue making stuff you enjoy!
@imaginalex5850 il y a 1 seconde Moviebob said it best. nostalgia has died when every corporations constantly keep it alive like ugly rotten zombies. Is it still nostalgia when you don't allow franchises to ever die ?
@@IFinishedAVideoGame I'm so happy for you! I hadn't even thought of my beloved SNES Indiana Jones' Greatest Adventures in so long and this retrospective brought it all back and informed me of other great IJ games out there. I am now excited for the new one as well!
Great Nostalgic video! I was born in 71. I’m happy that I got to grow up in the 70’s and 80’s. The 90’s was great to. I’ll always love Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Retro Gaming, etc. I still watch the movies and play games on the Atari, Colecovision and NES. A big shout out for Yars Revenge! One of my favorites on the Atari 2600. 👍
@@IFinishedAVideoGameThanks! I definitely liked and subbed. I also wanted to mention that I loved The Empire Strikes back on the Atari. Me and friend would take turns on that one. That was a button Masher! LoL! And, Nothing will ever top the original George Lucas Star Wars Trilogy. Those movies were ahead of their time! 👍
This channel is an unmitigated gem. Wish you had more subs, but the views you're getting right now are excellent. Please don't stop making these high-effort, long-form retrospectives, you have something incredibly special here.
Thanks very much! Honestly I think things are ticking along quite nicely really! It's always going to be tough to get people to subscribe to such a niche style of video but I've gained almost 100k subs in a year so hopefully this carries on! Glad you enjoyed this video too!
I know autoplay has sort of ruined it but it was actually quite a successful video before that - I'm sure you'll enjoy it if you have even a passing interest in Indiana Jones!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame Yeah man the video is actually amazing I was going to subscribe when I finished watching, seriously amazing video. I only just started making videos on PS5 with Share Factory and it sucks, it's super hard to work with and gives you hardly any freedom, but giving it a try has really made me appreciate well edited videos like this so much more. Good on you man, keep up the good work
I can only speak for myself but as a hard-core Indy fan I absolutely loved Emperor's Tomb. And while I can agree its quality does somewhat dip towards the end its still the best Indiana Jones game we got and wish we had more Indy games like it.
@@code82star12 Its one of my favourite childhood games and I still know the levels by heart. Recently went back to play it after like 10 years or so, I still have it on my PC. This game is a gem!
The infernal machine was one of the first adventure games I played. Man did I sink hours into that title. For me that game remained a gem of my childhood. Always booting it up after getting from school to figure out how to progress on to the next level and puzzle
Lego always manages to turn violent scenes into some fantastic dark humor. My favorite instance is in Lego Harry Potter when (spoiler) they recreate Harry bringing back Cedric's dead body to his dad as him bringing the PIECES, and Cedric's dad getting the instructions to put his son back together 💀
Finally finished this video. First of all, I just want to say that editing my last video took longer than it needed to because I kept getting distracted by this. Second of all, as if it needs to be said, outstanding job. I've had so little time to watch long-form videos like I used to because of my own work schedule, but I genuinely look forward to your videos. You maintain such a great, relaxed pace so as to appreciate the minutiae of each game, but also keep me looking forward to what's coming next. In terms of appreciating video game history & it's quirks, yours is the definitive channel, far as I'm concerned.
That's really kind of you man. I've got to say that I'm in a similar boat and my consumption of longer videos has also fallen through the floor thanks to work. Just like you said though - I always make time for yours and always look forward to them! We need to find a way to give the people a crossover episode - best RPG on every console arena deathmatch podcast lmao
fate of atlantis was one of my favourite games growing up. lead me down the wonderful rabbit hole of point and click adventure games. sam and max hit the road, day of the tentacle, freddy pharkas frontier pharmacist, heck even zak mckracken and the alien mindbenders.
I've not watched this yet, but I thought it would be a good time and place to say this: you are absolutely one of the best video game content channels on TH-cam. Just wanted to show some appreciation for the work you put in. There's not many channels out there that I watch every single video they put out, but yours is one of them.
Thanks so much. That's really nice to hear and I really appreciate you taking the time to say it! It can be easy to get wrapped up in criticism when you release something so thanks for cutting through that!
The Emperor’s Tomb was my introduction to Indiana Jones. My mom bought me the game, and told me that it was based on a big movie series by the guy that did Star Wars (I was such a huge SW kid) I absolutely loved the game and she showed me the movies around the same time. Needless to say, I was hooked and obsessed. Went as Indy multiple times for Halloween, made videos in my backyard with my whip, had nearly every lego set. Thank you Emperor’s Tomb
Man, the young Indiana show… I watched all of it when I was very young and I loved it!!! Nobody has ever mentioned it since. I had the box set, and I always remember it being like 5 seasons long 😂, I guess maybe it felt like that because of the pacing and my young brain just did it’s thing
It's surprisingly good I think! I had a lot of fun watching episodes for this retrospective and had to pull myself away from writing about 25 minutes in defence of it!
I love the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles and am so glad that it is on Disney+ now. I love the history references and all of the real location filming. I can't wait to share this with my kids someday and discuss history with them 🤠
🎉🎉🎉 Congratulations, adventurer extraordinaire! You've conquered challenges with a daring flair, Just like Indiana Jones, with his hat and whip, You've shown true grit on this epic trip. Through ancient ruins and treacherous lands, You've unearthed mysteries with your skilled hands. You've deciphered codes and escaped narrow scrapes, Embracing the thrill that every quest shapes. 🤠
The Infernal Machine is in my top 3 favourite games of all time. It is far more stable on windows 98-XP, yet far more beautiful and smooth on N64. There's a give and take. And yes, the last 3 levels are just batshit insane. It's why i wasn't surprised about Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls haha There are also dozens of easter eggs. My favourite is in the mines. One of the level designers left a note and signature
I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much as I did. While it's certainly got it's flaws there is just something wonderfully enjoyable about those early 3D adventure games
God I love the Infernal Machine. My dad played it when i was a kid, and I started playing it myself soon thereafter. He had to help me beat Quetzacoatl cus i was so scared of it haha. It's the first game i ever played, and it's a formative piece of my childhood and love for Indiana Jones as a whole
Absolutely love the author's talent for narration and script writing. Only very few people have the talent to talk about anything and make it interesting. I feel similar talent here. On a separate note, it'd be great to one day hear a review of the Kemco point-and-click adventure games for NES....Shadowgate, the Uninvited, and Deja Vu. I've watched reviews for them on other channels, but it'd be even better to have a lengthy retrospective on this channel one day 🤞 Either way, keep up the awesome work! Liked and subscribed 👍
I've become something of a nostalgia merchant in the last year so I wanted to make sure I did justice to the emotion. It's not just pointless pining for the past but something real and meaningful!
The Wii version of Lego Indy 1 was one of the very few video games I had growing up and that segment brought back a lot of living room nostalgia. Im very tempted to buy the game on steam and relive that. Fun fact: the Wii version had an exclusive feature where you could shake the wiimote to build faster.
This brings back so many memories. I remember playing the Emperors tomb as a little kid and then walking around my house with imagining myself as Indy and drinking from my imaginary canteen.
Fate of Atlantis is the first real game adventure game I ever played. I remember playing through while sitting on my mom’s lap. We got stuck flying the balloon, which I eventually figured out on my own. It took a few years of repeated play throughs before I even realized that there were multiple paths. I’ve probably beaten the game well over a dozen times by this point. Fate of Atlantis has as fond of a place in my heart as any of the films, if not more. It is an equal part of the trilogy and possibly the best and most faithful movie tie-in ever made.
I was 4 years old when I first played lego Indiana Jones, it was one of my first video game experiences and I absolutely loved it. Like you said I also didn’t really understand what was happening, but my Grandpa was usually with me while I played and he explained enough for me to have some grasp on the story
I appreciated your detailed take on Emperor's Tomb. It has some really excellent elements and is very much worth playing, despite faltering in some later sections.
Absolutely - the first half is probably the strongest slice of Indy gameplay in this entire video (outside of Fate of Atlantis but I understand that has niche appeal) I think if it could just open up a bit with some more variety and maybe a touch more dialogue it would have been a real homerun!
Interestingly enough, there was one thing that made the Wii version of Staff of Kings a great purchase, and that was the fully playable port of Fate of Atlantis that you could unlock after beating the Game. In a time before Steam and GOG made older games more accessible, this was one the easiest ways that you could get access to the game, and the Wii’s pointer made it a place to play through the game
I definitely should have mentioned that in the video. Your right that is a great reason to pick it up especially as the wii pointer is a great way to control a point and click!
Everyone is singing your well-deserved praises, but nobody seems to be pointing out your editing. Just in the last few minutes, you talked about how LucasArts failed to release a console game in four years while showing 1313 (RIP), then talked about how LucasArts was doing a poor job with Indy while showing Indy drive a Jeep off a cliff. Subtle, hilarious, heart-wrenching, and as well done as always.
That's actually really nice to hear as I rarely ever get compliments on my editing. I recognise that it really takes a back seat to the script and really isn't a major focus BUT I really do try to put some effort into it with clip selection. I often throw in little jokes and nods to things that put a smile on my face so it's nice to know it's being noticed!
I got to the end of a video somewhere and this came on and I can’t stop listening. I’ve never played an Indiana Jones game in my life but I’m enraptured
You have to do a starwars one. This just makes me appreciate what we once had. As bad as they look compared to today, and janky as they were, those games back then had much more heart, soul and passion put into them. I wish I could go back to the 90s and 2000s so bad.
@@IFinishedAVideoGame Awesome. Your channel is amazing and it truly gives me beautiful nostalgia each video I watch. I wish you millions of subs and success.
That would be really cool to one day take on - there are a lot of interesting games that lots of people seem to have forgotten about. All that ever gets covered is the Arkham games!
Fate of Atlantis was a treasure growing up. Charming, fun, recognizable, witty. A 9 out of 10 in my opinion. My only issue was similar to yours about the Atlantis phase where it suffered classic point and click short comings. There's a part where the instructions for how to operate the giant drill are poorly scribbled on the wall ONE screen removed from its location, requiring you collect vaguely lever shaped items and just 'decipher' the scribble to know how to arrange them on the machine. An earlier puzzle along the same lines did a far better job integrating the proper stone disk combination into the murals of nearby walls, as if the clues weren't just poorly placed nearby but rather constructions of the backdrop. You had to soak in the entirety of the scene as opposed to just looking at the singular odd thing out.
Hey i just wanted to tell you that your videos are absolutely amazing, its incredible how an almost 4 hour retrospective has me hooked the entire time, your videos have incredible pacing, sorry if i have bad english i am not a native English speaker but keep up the good work, you quickly became one of the best channels i have ever seen in this platform
Really also shows how important different people are to a project. Lucas seems to have good ideas, making plans, and imagining worlds, but leaving everything to him can prove disastrous. Also fun to see how movies and games grew side by side
I am currently obsessed with video game soundtracks, so here's a fun fact: the Fate of Atlantis soundtrack - at least those parts of it that aren't by John Williams - is by Clint Bajakian, Michael Z. Land, and Peter McConnell, the same three-man team responsible for the music in Monkey Island 2 and Day of the Tentacle. The three of them stayed friends after they left LucasArts, and they actually got back together recently to write the music for Return to Monkey Island.
I honestly wish I could speak about the soundtracks more but the copyright system is just so tricksy so you never know when you'll fall foul. You're absolutely spot on and I think Fate may well be some of the best work they did!
I literally finished watching this today, with you saying that the Indy franchise has been "dead" for years especially in the games department just to see the Xbox Games showcase come with a new Indy game. Nice!
Never stop making these long videos I love listening to them to sleep and while I work. The way you lay everything out and how in depth you go is perfect. Keep it up👏👏
I’m afraid to say it, but you missed one! Lego Indiana Jones 2 had a DS port that was nothing like the console version. I remember not liking it very much - it had an open world hub area that was pretty confusing. Iirc it only had a campaign for the crystal skull, but had bonus levels for the other movies
Man, what a great video! For me, the Infernal Machine holds a ton of nostalgia for me because of my grandpa. My grandpa was an Indiana Jones superfan combined with being a huge technology/video game expert, so that game was one of his greatest treasures when we were growing up. The platforming was pretty much impossible for me as a kid which made other titles like mario 64 or the Zelda titles a bit more accessible for me, but I still distinctly remember just how much my grandpa loved the presentation and sheer scope that that game had. Its one of the first things that comes to mind when I think about memories with my grandpa, and it feels good to know others have a similar fondness for the game's wackiness like my family and I have. The jeep level is probably one of the funniest sequences in a video game that I've played to date. Video game jank at its finest imo.
That's really cool - I wish I had a grandpa who was a fraction as cool as yours sounds! I'm really pleased this could tickle those feelings of nostalgia - it's a big reason why I do this
I remember really cherishing The Emperor's Tomb as a kid, didn't beat it until I was a little older but the variety of gameplay and freedom of the sandbox were really magical being younger. Getting rewarded with little trinkets to pick up by exploring unnecessary areas was really satisfying. The giant white croc scared me more than the sharks did lol
I think the first half of that game is probably the best Indy video game content available at the moment - it's just a shame that it doesn't hold up into the back half in my opinion!
That's cool to hear my friend. I love making them (although they can be stress inducing and insanely challenging at times) so it's nice to see people sharing that same love!
Once again. I wake up and this video is playing. Or its the parasite eve one. I dont mind though. Your voice and presentation is so good I can watch this, listen to it or even sleep to it. It all works.
Absolutely! I think it's shaping up to be a really great looking game and I love the emphasis they're placing on the non-combat elements of Indiana Jones! I'll certainly be covering it on the channel!
This was such a delight to sit through. I grew up with so many of these games, and I always adore any kind of "Here's every game in a particular licensed franchise" retrospective, so you're hitting my wheelhouse even harder than ever right now. I sat down on Monday morning and just binged the whole video while doing some mindless filing cleanup. This is probably my favorite of your videos to date. It’s got so much great info and great insights. Hope you'll indulge me as I write a comment that's a novella, but I just... you brought up so many thoughts and memories. 1) I was just a little kid when I played Raiders of the Lost Ark on our family’s Atari 2600. And in fairness to that game, the manual clearly tells you what every weird shape/icon is supposed to be - every item, every “person,” etc. So there really wasn’t much need to “figure out” the obtuse graphics since I could reference the manual for everything. They even tell you every single room you can possibly reach, and most of them are given pictures as well as explanations of what’s in each room. AND YET! Somehow, with all this information, the game is STILL ridiculously obtuse! At the time, I had no idea there was such a thing as game reviewers, so I had no idea that people loved this game and hated E.T.; I felt the polar opposite as a little kid. (Yes, my weird lil’ ass liked E.T.) Though admittedly, I was so small that I probably wasn’t very skillful OR very discerning… 2) I thankfully only ever rented the NES Temple of Doom during elementary school from a local shop. God, what a disaster. That was just a waste of a rental. I kept trying, but I barely knew what the heck I was doing; the rental didn’t even include a manual. And I didn’t even know it was based on an arcade game for another decade! When I finally played the arcade machine, I really did wonder why the hell the NES game was such a botch. 3) I think I was in middle school when I played (and replayed, and replayed) Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures. Let me gripe for a moment: FUCK the mine cart sequence. You have no way of knowing if the switches will be necessary or kill you without trial and error. Even if you can see and clearly aim at the switches, the game won’t always register your shots hitting (and sometimes you accidentally shoot too much and flip ‘em back!). I died so many times before I started using an off-brand controller with rapid-fire and “slow motion” (aka ‘rapid pause-and-unpause’) to guarantee I hit the goddamn switches. I also didn’t care for how you only got a password every few levels - and you have to pull off, what, four levels in a row at the end of Temple of Doom before you get another password?! But: That is the end of my complaints. And don’t let those detract from how AWESOME and JOYFUL this game has always been for me overall. Plus: Even the biplane fight that you mention being difficult looks easy in your footage because it only sucks until you realize you just need to fly HIGHER than the oncoming enemies -- both your planes and theirs can only ever shoot downward. Stay upwards and you can’t lose, essentially. 4) I ordered a copy of Infernal Machine for my N64 directly from LucasArts’ website when it went on sale. (Can you tell what an Indy fanatic I always was by now?) I had plenty of fun with that game despite all its jank - and WOOF, the jank is CONSIDERABLE. I got myself stuck on the Russian ship when every time I tried to grab a rope/chain to ascend to the next area, the game froze. Reload previous save? Still froze EVERY TIME. I eventually found a LONG workaround by backtracking through the level until I could jump down from above that landing. Also, the driving was pretty atrocious. Props to the music team for writing some great original themes. Definitely felt the ending was one of the weirdest, craziest endings in Indiana Jones’ history… at the time. 5) I actually didn’t get to play Fate of Atlantis or The Last Crusade graphic adventure until well into the sixth generation of consoles, when I finally found the ability to emulate SCUMM. (That’s right; I met Sophia Hapgood first through Infernal Machine). I never really did PC gaming before that. By now I was on a Windows PC in my college dorm room. Obviously, I loved them both quite a lot. This was also when NES emulators were first booming, and I got to play the Last Crusade games for the first time around the same period… I never saw those for rent as a kid, and the reviews in Nintendo Power made me avoid them until this moment. Didn’t play either for long. Also emulated the Genesis version, but yeah, you said everything that needs to be said. 6) Emperor’s Tomb is my personal favorite Indy title. I never got tired of the combat system (felt the same way about that Buffy title, actually), and I appreciated that the levels tried to offer occasional variety to the grind. Things once again got pretty weird at the endgame, but to me, less crazy than Infernal Machine. By now I’d realized that Indy starts every single movie, novel, and/or game feeling skeptical of whatever artifact in spite of all the crazy shit he’s consistently seen. So I guess I wasn’t that phased just bc I was too deep in the "extended universe"? Man, I never knew they tried to get a sequel done... sure as hell wish it had come together. (SIDE NOTE: I actually loved The Collective’s stupid-in-concept Da Vinci Code Game when I picked it up for $12. Though at that price, I suppose it’s hard to hate anything too much. It’s just got so many great puzzles in it that felt so awesome to solve! Would’ve been better off just being a narrative adventure, though - maybe even an old-fashioned point-and-click? The puzzles are where all the best stuff is. The stealth gameplay isn’t awful, but the combat is utter crap and feels out of place.) 7) I bought Staff of Kings for Wii immediately at launch ENTIRELY BECAUSE it includes Fate of Atlantis on the disk, with the Wii Remote as your pointer. I played through both games… struggled to get past some of the brawls in SoK for sure, damn the motion controls. You basically said everything that needs to be said about that one. But I’ve always been curious about the PS2 port; I wonder if the Wii game minus its motion controls might actually be… good? Some day, I hope to find out. (Two asides: I recall the Wii game includes a unique co-op campaign where the second player is Henry Jones Sr. I've never played it, but I hope to look into it someday. Also, I actually own the distinct PSP version and have had it in my backlog for few years but have never booted it up… I think you just convinced me that I should do that ASAP!) 8) So here I am, a child of the '80s that's never fully grown up, and I'm hopeful that Bethesda's game will be a new adventure worthy of the brand. But more than anything, I just hope it gets to exist. Seeing that early footage of the 360/PS3 game never amount to anything was always a huge letdown. Thanks for taking the time and effort required to play these, do this research, write this, record this, edit it all together… and thanks to everyone else who assisted you. Love and gratitude to you all.
It may be a surprise but I am a total one man team! I play, write, record, edit and publish all without any outside help! It certainly does lead to a few mistakes here and there but I think people like the authenticity of it being a single man's ideas! I'm stoked you enjoyed the video so much and that was a really nice read. I'm amazed you found Da Vinci Code enjoyable although I can't lie I've enjoyed playing it in the past but for maybe the wrong reasons!
I recommend metal gear solid twin snakes & 2 3 4 too (5 was a bit long and kinda not as important imo) rly well made games those and shadow of colossus ocarina of time both rly good too and the fable series :)
I'm glad someone acknowledged how hard The Infernal Machine was. I got stuck on Shambala Sanctuary as a child. My dad started helping me, only to realize we were both stuck. 😂
The complexity of that level is absolutely ridiculous! I'm not even sure that my explanation really did justice for just how confusing and sprawling it is!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame I was cheering when you said Shambala is the worst example of convoluted level design, because pea-brain child me couldn't figure out how to give the bell-dwelling monk the magic Chia pet, then use the space RPG to destroy the Ice Raptor. Super fun game, but I was always so discouraged playing it as a kid.
I will never forget how hype me and my brother were when we saw the trailer for the first Lego Indiana Jones. Before that point they had only done Star Wars or their orIginal IP’s, but after that point we realized they could do just about anything.
I'm sure it was just as great when you played it and it lived up to the hype! I really enjoyed that one, maybe my favourite of the few Lego games I've played!
Yes, I woke up in the middle of the night with his 2 hour long video playing and feeling confused as well, and I was directed here at least 3 times in total, I usually set a “stop playing” timer so it’s not that often that I keep my phone autoplaying late in the night, but in those few instances when I forgot the timer I always seem to end up here when I wake up in the night. ( guess the length of his videos is probably a reason why so many people wake up to it as well, once your autoplay gets you here, you have a much larger chance of waking up to these videos before it's over) Don’t know what kind of wizardry is behind this being on so many people’s autoplay but this is one of those rare instances that I am glad I am directed here. 😂 Although initially feeling really confused , I found his contents are actually really well made, they are very nice if you just want to sit down and watch, but also pretty good to be played in the background while I am doing some chores, also perfect for dozing off in my bed with lol Nothing dramatic, no big loud music, just some guy giving me hours long retrospectives of old games, super chill
That's actually really nice to hear. These days I get so many "why tf am I waking up here" comments which can be a little annoying as I have absolutely no control over it! It's really cool to know that you gave the videos a chance and enjoyed what I was going for!
1:41:54 That whip is true jank. Genuinely curious how this was allowed into the final game. The fact that multiple people sat around and agreed with using that in the finished product is simply amazing
Didn't even know there were this many Indiana Jones games, I only ever played the Emperor's Tomb, it was fine back when I played it but I'm not sure it aged that well.
Truth be told never played any of these games but love and respect all the time you put into the retrospective. Hope this is another 1million view video!
I typically don’t like the Video Essay Retrospective Style Commentary since it feels overplayed but there is just no denying how pristine and well made these videos are. I’m a huge Castlevania fan, and after watching that masterpiece of a video I decided to watch this and wow I was pleasantly surprised with how entertaining and detailed it was despite me not really caring much for the Indy Games. You truly do have a talent for this layout, and I can’t wait to see what you do next.
That's really nice to hear. It can be quite easy to feel down on the format because there are just so many channels squeezing out multi hour "retrospectives" that are essentially just let's plays. Knowing that I'm doing something to stand out really means a lot!
Seeing you give such honor to the point-click games made me want you do a review of The Dig. To me it's the best pint-click game ever made, being on an alien planet make the usual "why this doesn't work?" make sense, since it's alien technology. The message and story are superb, the characters amazing and with a "bad" and "good" ending.
ikr my brrains thirst for completion of all instances and alternatives will be my undoing i no longer have time to play games anymore im too busy tryin to keep up with the flood lol!
Thank you so much my friend. That's extremely generous of you and I'm really pleased you enjoyed this one! It was a bit of an odd choice considering it's not a traditional series but it's been great to see people want to come along for the ride!
@IFinishedAVideoGame ive never played a single indy game despite loving the 1st 2 films. But i left the video having a real good handle of its history. Engaging content as always
the young inidiana jones chronicles and the recut version "the adventures of young indiana jones" was great. i recently discoveered it on disney+ and binged it all. all the loving attention to detail, the costume design, the faithful and believable characterizations showing us a character thata is very much indiana jones, but not yet as experienced and much younger without feeling like an entirely different character. not to mention remy. oh how i love remy. actually my favorite piece of indiana jones media after indy 3
It's kinda weird how much I enjoy the series. I can totally understand why people wouldn't considering the difference to the movies but I just think it's a really creative and interesting piece of TV! Plus you're totally right - Remy is amazing
Incredible video! Having only a passing interest in the films, but a lifelong obsession with video games, I’m surprised to realize I had never played one! Until thinking about how ALL games have some Indy in them some way or another… I had a blast looking through all these with your expert capture and editing of them. This is a tight near-4 hour journey, with just enough context and research given into every single projects behind the scenes snapshot to not drown out the game itself. Excellent work! Thank you.
Thanks - I really appreciate that. It's easy to think I'm going insane when I'm making these videos so every positive comment really pushes me to keep going!
Man Indiana Jones was my childhood. I dont know how I got my hands on the trilogy when i was so young., but i thought those movies were so cool. Thank you for this extensive retrospective!
actually yeah that's a good question. i bet it has to do with marketing. no movie during that time. but that's when some of the best spin offs were made, without a movie tie in. mainly just lucasarts stuff i'm referring to
A must impressive work done here !!!! Loved how you presented all the Indiana Jones games with respectfull reviews and explainings of the game mechanics. Very professional! Indeed a A complete History of Indiana Jones video games. Thumbs Up!
Thanks very much! I always try to be really fair with the games although I feel like this video ended up a little negative. There is a surprising amount of tosh games in Indy's history!
This might sound strange but Emperor's tomb, was my childhood adventure I've probably played and finished it more than 15 times and I still love it to death. I definitely has some less stellar moments, I don't particularly enjoy the Chinese castle levels, but Prague has to be one of my favourite designed sections to this day, the way you revisit earlier places or if you remember parts of earlier levels and go there again you usally get a nice reward. I also think you missed out on pointing out the sound design of the game, the music is decent, but it's the sound effects that really stood out to me, the combat noises and the little jingles when you solve a puzzle and even the cheesy one liners you get when you pick up certain items is engraved in my mind. I'm gonna be rich, if I ever get out of this alive. I do agree the latter half falls off a bit, but I have never felt such immense stress, as chasing down a Nazi who is running for one of those switches and the absolute nightmares I had from those undead dudes climbing on the roof. The puzzles to get the glaive felt really cool and the massive power spike it gives you against those kreeps just felt so awesome, I wish they gave Indie more chance to use some of the cool stuff he finds. The last boss is kinda meh and if you're used to the platforming can be done in under a minute, despite that I genuinely believe the intrigue of the last 2 areas is what kept me going. Also Von Beck for Nazi villian of the year. Anyway that's been my ted talk. Really love your videos and amazing amount of work you put into them I wish you all the best.
Thank you very much! Emperor's Tomb is such a funny game. Like I said in the video - the first half is absolutely stellar but I just don't really vibe with what comes later on in it. I wish the action was maybe more spread out and we got some slower dialogue or exploration driven sections. Indy is as much about deciphering old riddles as it is beating people up!
Wow, this happened to get autoplayed and I was shocked at how engaged I was the whole time, I can't believe how easy you made it to listen through such a lengthy video. Incredible work, hold on while I watch through the rest of the channel
Snakes, why'd it have to be snakes? One of my favourite film series growing up as a kid... Takes me straight back to Christmas holidays away from school. Never ever knew there were so many games which is insane! The content you're making man is going strength to strength and highly deserving of the views and love! Keep em' coming.
I remember The Infernal Machine fondly and honestly it still baffles how I even managed to play through it back in the in the day when googling guides just wasn't how it is today. (I don't think google was even a thing back then) Hours upon hours of just wondering what to do till something eventually or accidentally clicks.
It's kinda crazy the amount of hours we used to dump into games before the internet right? I think my original playthrough of FF7 where I had no idea how any of the systems worked or where I was ever supposed to be going must have been something like 250 hours long!
2 things. Fate of Atlantis is one of the best games ever made. Secondly, don't care what anyone says, but I love Dial Of Destiny. Back to what I expect from Jones films. Ford worked hard here, and the acting was brilliant, especially from Phoebe Waller Bridge. I enjoyed the film very much.
You know I still haven't seen it! I really need to find a bit of time in my schedule and finally sit down to it! I think I burnt myself out on the franchise a little by making this!
Thank you for making this! Until about a week ago, I genuinely thought there were more Indiana Jones movies--to correlate with the many video game titles I've seen in game stores. I never knew there were so many individual and original stories in the games until this video.
@@IFinishedAVideoGame I feel like, the closest analogy would The Matrix MMO from back in the day. Star Wars video games really only has two modes: adapting the film, or uses original characters to explore a different part of the vast, vast galaxy. (See, why I wasn't mad in RoS when Rey uses Force Healing...it's in a GBA prequel trilogy game XD)
Your videos are always a special treat for me. I don't always watch them the day they release, and I don't watch them all in one sitting, but I do watch and finish each and every one! This one is yet another excellent example of why I like your channel so much! I can't wait to see what your next video is!
That's absolutely awesome and lovely to hear. Honestly I watch most long form videos in small chunks so don't feel bad at all - it's exactly what I do!

For some reason TH-cam seems to think I'm the god of this incredible niche sleeping youtube situation. I'm not complaining but it is quite funny
Me too! I turn auto play off, TH-cam turns it back on again and I wake up in a video like this. I mean, looks good, but not my niche. I’m a little annoyed because I’ll be spammed with ads now.
This, the parasite eve, and the Dino crisis videos keep playing for me too

Constantly! Almost every night. The sentence "eventually age catches up with us all" is forever burned in my brain.
Am I the only person who actually wanted to watch this instead of just waking up to it?
It certainly seems like it. I think my channel now exists purely in people's dreams rather than as something I spend months working on haha
@@IFinishedAVideoGame are you gonna talk about indiana jones and the great circle when that releases?
I should think so!
Ok am I crazy I 100% owned a version of staff of kings on PS2! Did I own a boot leg version or something?
@@mackenzieregis1351 Yeah, I don’t know how that would have been possible. Maybe someone did a bootleg port of the PSP version? Was that a thing? I have no idea.
Wikipedia says the ps2 launched alongside the psp versions in 2009 🤷♂️ maybe it was limited release or region locked to North America
Agreed, you've spoiled me. The only other one who has come close is the guy who did the Entire History of Video Games.
@@IFinishedAVideoGame jesus man dont overwork your self
Cool!
Thanks for all the hard work, and clear passion.....but you missed a game. Lego Indy 2 is VERY different on PSP and DS.
@@IFinishedAVideoGame
It does, but since the portable is a throwback to traditional Lego gameplay, I'd argue it's a Staff of Kings on PSP situation.
And that anyone watching that many hours deserves to know there's another game worth checking out.
@@Channel-gz9hmit did, my second favourite of the movies! :)
As someone who was the target age of Lego games when the Lego Indy games came out, I can actually say that a lot of us grew up on these movies (thanks to our parents having grown up on them too) and so we were never confused by the cutscenes' reliance on knowledge of the source material. Indiana Jones and the original Star Wars trilogy were staples of my, and other kids', childhoods.
this
plus if it made us curious, we could always ask our parents to show us the movies to get a deeper understanding of the story. but yeah, those movies are classics, everyone's seen them lol

That's really a fantastic idea - I think people would love a 3D telltale experience influenced by Fate of Atlantis!
Telltale have worked with Lucasfilm on games before, they even made a Monkey Island game at one point! I wouldn't put it past new Telltale being able to call up someone to get the license!

That's extremely cool to hear and I WISH I'd included it!
I remember this. I thought the ending dialogue with Elsa alive does make her slightly more sympathetic.
@@RappingNinja Yeah. I remember that in that ending when the subject of Indy being named after the dog comes up she muses about her mother having a cat named Elsa.

Good on you man, keep up the good work
I can only speak for myself but as a hard-core Indy fan I absolutely loved Emperor's Tomb. And while I can agree its quality does somewhat dip towards the end its still the best Indiana Jones game we got and wish we had more Indy games like it.
I think a version of Emperor's Tomb that can blend itself with some of the charm and character of Fate of Atlantis would be my dream combination!
I can only think you didn't play the point n click games. They're both better than emperor's tomb
@@fandangobrandango7864 you'd assume wrong, pal.
Thank you for that! We loved making Emperor's Tomb!
I think I spent a month in Tian Shan river
Lego always manages to turn violent scenes into some fantastic dark humor. My favorite instance is in Lego Harry Potter when (spoiler) they recreate Harry bringing back Cedric's dead body to his dad as him bringing the PIECES, and Cedric's dad getting the instructions to put his son back together 💀
That sounds hilarious. Maybe one day I'll get to covering Harry Potter games and get to see it haha
Ikr lego games are sooo underrated they rly are so funny
That's really cool to hear. What an introduction to the series!
I can't wait to share this with my kids someday and discuss history with them 🤠
🎉🎉🎉
Congratulations, adventurer extraordinaire!
You've conquered challenges with a daring flair,
Just like Indiana Jones, with his hat and whip,
You've shown true grit on this epic trip.
Through ancient ruins and treacherous lands,
You've unearthed mysteries with your skilled hands.
You've deciphered codes and escaped narrow scrapes,
Embracing the thrill that every quest shapes.
🤠
I love you for writing this
The Infernal Machine is in my top 3 favourite games of all time. It is far more stable on windows 98-XP, yet far more beautiful and smooth on N64. There's a give and take. And yes, the last 3 levels are just batshit insane. It's why i wasn't surprised about Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls haha
There are also dozens of easter eggs.
That's awesome to hear - also very much good guy Dad for stepping in when the giant lizard turns up!
I've watched reviews for them on other channels, but it'd be even better to have a lengthy retrospective on this channel one day 🤞
Either way, keep up the awesome work! Liked and subscribed 👍
Babe, the Indiana Jones video started up again. You know that means it's bedtime.
You'd never think Indiana Jones would be make for good sleepy content but here we are
Easily my favorite long form videos on TH-cam. Never seen anything so well researched and paced. Thanks for making the great content.
Thanks very much! That's a big compliment!
5 minutes in and i can say, NOBODY does this retrospective genre better than you do! Incredible work!
Thank you so much my friend. That really means a lot to hear!
That simple explanation of nostalgia at the beginning hit me hard for some reason. What I wouldn't give for a simpler time again.
I've become something of a nostalgia merchant in the last year so I wanted to make sure I did justice to the emotion. It's not just pointless pining for the past but something real and meaningful!
u need sum memberberries 🤣
That Jeep level in Infernal Machine was a highlight for me. I left a save there just so that I could replay it whenever I was in the mood.
Honestly you should! Lego Indy 1 was a really fun game to play through and I'm not even particularly hot on the Lego games!
Okay, not even 30 seconds in and hearing a guitar rendition of Scars of Time. I can tell it's gonna be good.
I've been dying to use that in a video and a meditative monologue about the power of nostalgia seemed too perfect to miss
This brings back so many memories. I remember playing the Emperors tomb as a little kid and then walking around my house with imagining myself as Indy and drinking from my imaginary canteen.
Now that's some peak kid behaviour! I'm sure it was very cute
It's certainly got to be up there in terms of licensed games. It's absolutely the best one I've ever covered on this channel that's for sure!
Idk how I got here but I woke up to it and it's great
Thanks my friend and good morning
The Indiana point and clicks are pure gold
Fate of Atlantis might well be my favourite ever made!
I was 4 years old when I first played lego Indiana Jones, it was one of my first video game experiences and I absolutely loved it. Like you said I also didn’t really understand what was happening, but my Grandpa was usually with me while I played and he explained enough for me to have some grasp on the story
That's a really nice memory. Your grandpa sounds like an awesome dude
I randomly woke up to this, but i might actually start my watching I'm lowkey invested
Hope you enjoyed it. Despite YT seeming to think it's a great sleep aid it was actually a moderately successful video game retrospective first lmao
I appreciated your detailed take on Emperor's Tomb. It has some really excellent elements and is very much worth playing, despite faltering in some later sections.
Absolutely - the first half is probably the strongest slice of Indy gameplay in this entire video (outside of Fate of Atlantis but I understand that has niche appeal)
I think if it could just open up a bit with some more variety and maybe a touch more dialogue it would have been a real homerun!
With some more polish, I think it would have been one of the best Indy games. It looked really fun and had interesting gameplay for the time.
@@IFinishedAVideoGame they are noticed! Well done!
But it's like 3 AM in the UK, go to bed 😂
I got to the end of a video somewhere and this came on and I can’t stop listening. I’ve never played an Indiana Jones game in my life but I’m enraptured
You have to do a starwars one. This just makes me appreciate what we once had. As bad as they look compared to today, and janky as they were, those games back then had much more heart, soul and passion put into them. I wish I could go back to the 90s and 2000s so bad.
My aim is to produce one next year!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame Awesome. Your channel is amazing and it truly gives me beautiful nostalgia each video I watch. I wish you millions of subs and success.
I love these retrospectives, I’d especially love to see a retrospective of the batman games in those style
No not at all! Your english is fantastic and thanks so much for leaving such a nice comment! It makes all the long nights and stress worthwhile!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame you're welcome thank you for making such great content
Really also shows how important different people are to a project. Lucas seems to have good ideas, making plans, and imagining worlds, but leaving everything to him can prove disastrous. Also fun to see how movies and games grew side by side
Oh Lucas has really been done dirty by the internet. He's an inarguable genius but seems to only be judged by his worst projects rather than his best!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame he's human, and humanity is flawed..! And... He doesn't need to be anything more or less.
Nice!
The new game looks absolutely great! I'm very excited to see the full version as I think it's really nailing the tone!
Never stop making these long videos I love listening to them to sleep and while I work. The way you lay everything out and how in depth you go is perfect. Keep it up👏👏
Thanks my friend I really appreciate the kind words
I’m afraid to say it, but you missed one! Lego Indiana Jones 2 had a DS port that was nothing like the console version. I remember not liking it very much - it had an open world hub area that was pretty confusing. Iirc it only had a campaign for the crystal skull, but had bonus levels for the other movies
Damn that's my mistake. Luckily I think the broad strokes of the franchise are still told!
I'm really pleased this could tickle those feelings of nostalgia - it's a big reason why I do this
I LOVED the Emperor's Tomb as a kid! Great adventure game. Hand to hand combat and punching nasiz was so brutally satisfying 😅
“The vengeful hammer of archeology” is the best title an academic can have, if you ask me
I was sleep and i wake up to this what a great video keep up the good work
Im serious when I say these videos give me life my dude. It might take me a bit to finish them but I love rewatching your videos
Thanks my friend
You're an excellent youtuber! This was a joy to watch through and you should be proud. Glad to see that you're excited for The Great Circle.
Absolutely! I think it's shaping up to be a really great looking game and I love the emphasis they're placing on the non-combat elements of Indiana Jones! I'll certainly be covering it on the channel!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame can't wait!
(Yes, my weird lil’ ass liked E.T.) Though admittedly, I was so small that I probably wasn’t very skillful OR very discerning…
2) I thankfully only ever rented the NES Temple of Doom during elementary school from a local shop.
The stealth gameplay isn’t awful, but the combat is utter crap and feels out of place.)
7) I bought Staff of Kings for Wii immediately at launch ENTIRELY BECAUSE it includes Fate of Atlantis on the disk, with the Wii Remote as your pointer. Also, I actually own the distinct PSP version and have had it in my backlog for few years but have never booted it up… I think you just convinced me that I should do that ASAP!)
8) So here I am, a child of the '80s that's never fully grown up, and I'm hopeful that Bethesda's game will be a new adventure worthy of the brand.
@@IFinishedAVideoGame
I was cheering when you said Shambala is the worst example of convoluted level design, because pea-brain child me couldn't figure out how to give the bell-dwelling monk the magic Chia pet, then use the space RPG to destroy the Ice Raptor. Super fun game, but I was always so discouraged playing it as a kid.
Man, the opening is so well written
Thanks my friend!
@@IFinishedAVideoGame yeah! Still such a good game
Never thought I'd sit through a 4-hour video that includes solid critique on a Lego game lol. This channel rules.
Yes, I woke up in the middle of the night with his 2 hour long video playing and feeling confused as well,
and I was directed here at least 3 times in total, I usually set a “stop playing” timer so it’s not that often that I keep my phone autoplaying late in the night, but in those few instances when I forgot the timer I always seem to end up here when I wake up in the night. ( guess the length of his videos is probably a reason why so many people wake up to it as well, once your autoplay gets you here, you have a much larger chance of waking up to these videos before it's over)
Don’t know what kind of wizardry is behind this being on so many people’s autoplay but this is one of those rare instances that I am glad I am directed here. 😂
Although initially feeling really confused , I found his contents are actually really well made, they are very nice if you just want to sit down and watch, but also pretty good to be played in the background while I am doing some chores,
also perfect for dozing off in my bed with lol
Nothing dramatic, no big loud music, just some guy giving me hours long retrospectives of old games, super chill
It honestly feels so much worse than it looks. It's one of the worst combat mechanics I've ever seen!
Didn't even know there were this many Indiana Jones games, I only ever played the Emperor's Tomb, it was fine back when I played it but I'm not sure it aged that well.
It sort of did and also didn't - hopefully my point comes across in the video because I do genuinely love large parts of that game!
Played it few months back, good enough even today, played worse new games, so still has plenty of life
Truth be told never played any of these games but love and respect all the time you put into the retrospective. Hope this is another 1million view video!
Hopefully! Castlevania just ticked over 1 million which I can hardly believe! Glad you enjoyed this one as well!
The Dig really is very cool. Honestly most of the PC adventure games put together by that team have at least one or two very unique ideas!
I will never escape the never ending stream of video essays im Doomed to watch them for the rest of time
I kinda see it as more of a netflix documentary of reviews! Hope it's enjoyable!
ikr my brrains thirst for completion of all instances and alternatives will be my undoing i no longer have time to play games anymore im too busy tryin to keep up with the flood lol!
Another excellent addition to your growing library of content. Thank you for the hard work and consistent quality as always.
That's awesome to hear. It always means a lot coming from you!
the young inidiana jones chronicles and the recut version "the adventures of young indiana jones" was great. i recently discoveered it on disney+ and binged it all. all the loving attention to detail, the costume design, the faithful and believable characterizations showing us a character thata is very much indiana jones, but not yet as experienced and much younger without feeling like an entirely different character. not to mention remy. oh how i love remy. actually my favorite piece of indiana jones media after indy 3
It's kinda weird how much I enjoy the series. I can totally understand why people wouldn't considering the difference to the movies but I just think it's a really creative and interesting piece of TV! Plus you're totally right - Remy is amazing
Which version is better to watch, the original or re-cut?
Incredible video! Having only a passing interest in the films, but a lifelong obsession with video games, I’m surprised to realize I had never played one! Until thinking about how ALL games have some Indy in them some way or another…
I had a blast looking through all these with your expert capture and editing of them.
You're more than welcome my friend. I'm really glad you enjoyed it
Emperors Tomb was one of the best games I ever played! Not sure why it didnt do well
actually yeah that's a good question. i bet it has to do with marketing. no movie during that time. but that's when some of the best spin offs were made, without a movie tie in. mainly just lucasarts stuff i'm referring to
A must impressive work done here !!!!
Thanks very much! That's really nice to hear
Ah man that means so much honestly. Thanks for always being there with the support when gollum mode takes over haha!
I remember The Infernal Machine fondly and honestly it still baffles how I even managed to play through it back in the in the day when googling guides just wasn't how it is today. (I don't think google was even a thing back then)
Hours upon hours of just wondering what to do till something eventually or accidentally clicks.
It's kinda crazy the amount of hours we used to dump into games before the internet right? I think my original playthrough of FF7 where I had no idea how any of the systems worked or where I was ever supposed to be going must have been something like 250 hours long!
Casi 4 horas de Indy y videojuegos? Si, por favor! ❤ Gracias por tu trabajo y dedicación 😊
¡Gracias por mirar y espero que lo hayas disfrutado!
Loved it, too!
Wow somebody actually acknowledged Perfect Dark existing on GBC! I loved that game growing up
How could anyone not love it! It had a built in rumble pack that required it's own battery!
Thank you for making this! Until about a week ago, I genuinely thought there were more Indiana Jones movies--to correlate with the many video game titles I've seen in game stores. I never knew there were so many individual and original stories in the games until this video.
It's one of the coolest things about the series to be honest. You wouldn't often see adaptations that take the character into new places!
