Just want to say a few things: Literally right after this video premiered I learned apparently springs give you way more momentum in the mobile version of the game, and you can just damage boost through the enemy to beat it without any homing attacks fairly easy. I feel stupid right now and I know I probably should have checked for the version discrepancy before I posted the video. So I mean, on the bright side yeah the challenge is done but also now none of you get any money or anything and I feel bad, so look forward to a likely giveaway in the future. If I ever do episode 2 ill make sure to be more thorough, I know its just a stupid challenge that doesn't really matter but I also feel bad because the video is pretty much already outdated. Sorry about all that. Also I know that you can restart the special stages but I do not have fast enough reflexes to hit pause right before I get flung into a goal thingy. The restart button helped me a lot but I still had to redo levels quite a bit.

If Sonic just stayed in a ball after jumping on a spring or rolling up a ramp like he does in every Genesis game ever, this wouldn't be an issue and you would never have to use the homing attack at all except for the part with the cards. I'm convinced that they made that change solely to force you to use it so that it didn't look like a completely useless addition.
The answer's yes **AND** no You definitely can beat the levels themselves without the boost, but the overworld map has a part in China where you need to Air Boost to get to the day time level... Actually, you probably can't beat the sections where you need to run on water, too.
@@traktor420 yeah, i just remembered that now. I attempted it, and it was impossible. And so far there's no glitch I found to bypass that part. Basically that leaves us with, chun-nan overworld (you can skip the air boost but you need to boost to do that). And that part.

It's really a shame that Sonic 4 (PC) has a minimum number of homing attacks and thus can't be cleared in the classic way. Great work with figuring out how to do it on the mobile version, though! And getting as far as you did on the PC version.
There is one truck you have not tried, it's a glitch called the recurl where you press the homing attack button just under the enemy, but you don't do a homing attack, but recurl, and you can bounce on the enemy's without using the homing attack, meaning you don't need super Sonic to beat the homing attack chains, and the game treats it as a normal jump lowering the homing attack number to 0
14:33 I think the rocket here helps connect Episodes 1 and 2 a bit better, since it explains how Metal Sonic got it in Episode Metal, but you know it would've been really cool if, when you get to this point, if you've gotten all the Chaos Emeralds, Sonic instead goes Super Sonic and flies after Eggman.
Hey man, i like your videos and this kind of videos in general, but 1 thing... there's this new remake: Medievil for the PS4 and i'm wondering if you can beat the original Medievil for the PS1 using only Dan's arm...
I was wanting to do this challenge, but you beat me to it. I've labbed the Mad Gear act 2 for a bit, and I don't think it's possible. Even air-dashing the enemy to get rid of it, Sonic doesn't have enough momentum from the spring to reach the platform, let alone the shield bubble. I've even TASed it to see if the damage boost backwards works, and no, you don't have enough hight there either.
Great video sonic mania master and I'll try to find a way to do it without that one homing attack (and no it's not because I want that $20 and I already have sonic mania) but the only problem is I have no money to get it
@@milanmustafa66 Not telling you to subvert your parents or anything, but there are steam cards you can buy at many grocery stores and/or coinstar lets you turn change in to get a steam voucher. If they don't want to pay being the problem, if they don't want you playing too many games that's another issue and I wouldn't want to interfere in that.
To get past the jump in Mad Gear you have to get your PC, realize you just wasted your life by playing Sonic 4 episode 1, burn your PC, then go to the nearest Starbucks and ask for a pair of Niké shoes. None of you can tell me that this doesn't work cause none of you are willing to test it
Your next challenge video should be a sonic 2 no left and right challenge because you can play as knuckles by locking the sonic & Knuckles cartridge on to the sonic 2 cartridge or on mobile platforms
I feel your pain, and I understand your frustration with this game. But honestly, I think Sonic 4 gets way more flack than it deserves. It's not as good as the Genesis/Mania games obviously, but it sure as hell is better than most of the 3D Sonic games, and that deserves mentioning. Especially since Sega is so incompetent at making a competent 3D Sonic game. You have to remember when this game first came out, it came out at the time when we had garbage like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic 06 around. Sonic Unleashed HD was also pretty bad. So it was a dark time for Sonic in general, so this game was literally the only good Sonic game at the time. I think it's a good platforming game, it just shouldn't have been called Sonic 4.

In mad gear 2 all you have to do with luck is spin dash into the spring and that's how you get past it
