- Hey everyone! In today's Challenge video we try to find out whether you can beat Sonic Heroes WITHOUT Collecting Any Rings!
We are back again with part 2, where this time we tackle the game for a fourth time to see whether you can beat Team Chaotix's story without collecting any rings! Surprisingly this video was by far the most fun to route, with their gameplay style taking on all sorts of different mission archetypes and objectives; it quickly became apparent how our success largely depended on our own ability to route the stage, rather than being halted by an arbitrary barrier... And this is something that I can honestly appreciate, with how engaging it made this challenge overall.
Join us next week when we tackle the final story, to see whether you can beat the final boss without collecting any rings! After that I'll be announcing our next challenge series, and I think it's something that will surprise you, so please look forward to that!

I can't wait for Sonic Adventure 1, or Sonic Adventure 2 maybe I can! Can you beat Sonic Adventure 2 LAST STORY without collecting any rings? I guess I could always do so in Sonic Adventure DX; or Sonic Adventure 2 battle, Shadow The Hedgehog is my favorite character, especially his battle against the Biolizard, like Super Shadow vs Super Sonic, or Super Shadow vs Eggman! Same with Tails and Knuckles, and even Sonic The Hedgehog!!! Sonic... Did you guys read those Sonic Frontiers Leaks? Insane right?! What about Sonic Origins or Sonic Prime? Maybe even the Sonic Movie and Sonic Movie 2, I might do a Sonic Movie 2 Review when it comes out, my favorite port has to be Sonic Adventure 2 battle and I hope we get a Sonic Adventure 3 someday. For sure I'll be doing a Sonic Adventure 2 review, maybe even cover some Sonic Leaks and Sonic discussion... One minor correction: You don't need to be undetected by enemies for Ocean Palace's main mission. That's only a requirement for the bonus mission for the second emblem.
Not that it changes the results of the challenge. Great video by the way!

I could have sworn there was a mission in collecting rings but yea, I was wrong and glad I was. I think it was Shadow the Hedgehog that has a mission like that, can't remember. Anyway, fantastic job!
Casino park is the mission you're thinking of, theres a little skit involving that after rival 1 haha XD

Team chaotix are such a gem 💎
The prize from the target actually isn't ramdom, it operates based on your aim. A bullseye will always yield a team blast. Though whether the hitbox for the bullseye is accurate or not is another question.
That is weird, the hitbox is defo not accurate for sure. 😭

That scene with Espio throwing the kunai? I can't help but think about Scorpion from Mortal Kombat whenever I see that. Then again, it doesn't help that I started playing Mortal Kombat when I was like... 6? I want to say I was 6 when I started playing Mortal Kombat, maybe younger. Anyway, I'd say I love the series as much as I love Sonic, if not moreso. Also, 200 rings to the total just because of the bs level requirements. Ridiculous.
There's probably some similarities there, espio is just a badass.
Not gonna lie, my jaw dropped when the casino park requirement came to light. 🤣
this is a good series of videos. however it always baffles me that some people dont know the intricoes of some teams:
team dark can cancel the chaos control by pressing the team blast button again so that you dont have to stand around for another 20 seconds waiting to cross a door that wont open in frozen time.
espio has stars and kunai he can throw when on his own to take out larger enemies faster for his difficult stealth missions.
probably more known is that unlike 06 and shadow, its faster to just hold the speedup button on grind rails than to mash it.
Actually, I do consider Sonic Heroes to be their first appearance, sort of. Not of the character designs, but of the actual characters.
I half remember talk about the team making new characters from old designs, but I'm tired and have work in the morning so I'm not going to track that down. What I will say is in Knuckles' Chaotix, Espio wasn't a ninja, Vector didn't lead a detective agency, and, brace yourself for this, Charmy was described as mature for his age. Sophisticated, even. Modern Charmy took a colossal shift.
I don’t even know how, but your videos always put me to sleep(In a good way) At night I always watch these videos cause they are entertaining and they always put me to sleep which I’m happy about.

31:36 Doesn't Espio have the ability to throw shurikens. Seems like that'd be a much quicker solution.
Yee but it wasn't really reliable for me.
He was playing the PC version which is the buggiest version of sonic heroes. The most stable version is the gamecube but no matter what the game is just too slippery in controls.
Tbh you get used to the control after a while
Through out these Sonic ringless runs, Honestly I wouldn't count stage where you get rings automically as a loss as you have no control of that.
I was old enough to know classic Sonic when Heroes came out, still didn’t know about the Chaotix until much later.
The 32X was the dumbest thing ever made by SEGA.
You can clear that section of Frog Forest if you do a super precise jump with Espio to land on the rails
What I like is that the game heavily suggests that team dark is "difficult", but if you compare the two, in the majority of cases team chaotix has more enemies and more obstacles in almost all missions
That's what baffles me tbh, I don't know if this is simply due to 20 years of experience or what. But I've always found Team Dark to be really easy, that was the first team I managed to beat outside Team Rose.
You completely forgot about the strongest move that is even stronger against the robot waves.
Espio's Shuriken.
You dont actually have to repeatedly press the jump button to stay in the air in flight formation. just hold the button after starting flight, and you can stay in the air indefinitely as long as you dont move.
Did you use the flower at the start of Bullet Station to up the total capsules?
I did on one of my other attempts, I still had to go through the minecart section though unless I overlooked something, which is possible.
But what camera do I use for the capture card

A capture card will be your best bet.

What camera do I use and can I edit footage with my phone
There might be some editor you can use on the phone, but I use a desktop so I wouldn't know personally
XD Team Chaotix are like Dante from Devil May Cry in the "doing jobs to pay rent" department. XD

Well... in 1 or second lvl Espio just have tornado ability when he perform homing attack, didn't know how's you miss it
Second castle level would be more easy cuz Espio be in stealth all along

Do you realize you don't need to spam A to stay airborne? It only drains the flight meter when you're moving horizontally.
Holding A never gives me the height I needed.

Ok no offense but grand metropolis as the caotix was really easy and I only got a d rank on act 1 because I fell of the stage, otherwise I got all the robots on my 1st try.
