I think this may be my favorite episode yet. Loved the group bonding time / cake baking and the exhaustive inventory assessment we got when they were betting on the Phylactery.
Mine too. Jerry's strenght is comming up with the places and motivations. But sometimes its very monlogy this one had amaizing set up and then the players could just run wild and really develop and were super funny in doing so just amaizing, 10/10 would watch again

An hour and 40 minutes before the first dice roll? Wow. I didn't even realize a die hadn't been rolled until K'thris botched a perception roll.
Much better than last week. Way funnier when Doner is awake. Walnut and Chris arguing was the best part but the gamble cube was tense too. I need to watch live so I can vote!

Jerry as Propha is one of my favourite performances/characters on this show.
Not related to this episode, but I think it would have been interesting for the C team to sometime randomly see an adventure party of 4 gather outside the D&C (with golden acorns) then dissapear as they walk in. would also be an interesting little arc of possibilities if the party goes out and confonts them
I expected K'thriss to ordering something like Snake venom infused spirits, or like a hard liquor made with a combination of mushroom and insects. or just straight up absinth.
And after seeing this episode, I realize that the C team stands for Crab team.

Okay, so I know I can't be the only one who's done this, so I'm going to put this out there and see if anyone can verify that my numbers are correct.
In the giants and halflings game, you can expect to gain an average of -0.1541 gold per bet. In other words, that's how much the house gains per coin over time.
These calculations do not account for splitting dice when you hit the knee exactly, but to be honest, I suspect that doing so does not change the odds at all. When you split the dice any increased chance you gain to win on one of the dice will equate to a decreased chance to lose on the other one.

Anyone work out the expected value for a game of Giants and Halflings?
If I understand the rules correctly, without the scaling payout or dice splitting, the Giant wins 46.39% of the time, the Halflings win 51.11% of the time, and it's a push 2.50% of the time.
I think you've got it. My monte carlo simulation (which takes the push into account but no splitting, 10**7 trials) shows a ~52.43% win rate for the halflings. The pay scaling is completely unfair, though. The halflings can expect to increase their purse by ~52% of the betting value per game! Betting one gold coin per game, after 10**7 games my halflings walked away with 5222262 gold. The results stabilize to the nearest 1% at around 5*10**3 trials, so I didn't feel the need to go above 10**7.
I could not continue watching until I figured out who had the advantage.
I played about 20 turns with dice, and the Halflings were up quite a lot. But I couldn't be sure, so I whipped up a Python script to run a million turns. I found a huge advantage to the Halflings (although I'm having trouble quantifying my results, since it's been so long since I took college-level probability.)
Having found that, I wondered if the skeletons would subtly change the rules or payouts to swing the game the other way...

Goes into business with a total stranger; almost gets digested alive (along with rest of party) by a wandering crypt because said stranger is mesmerized by the crypt's lovely lumps; and then a symbol appears on that stranger's amulet, a symbol which represents the destruction of her entire clan and possibly the downfall of the natural world... I dunno, I guess I'd be pretty defensive talking to that guy, too.

Twisting it a little aren't you? K'thriss had been nothing but apologetic and forthwith since then, even went so far as to put on a magical leash just in case he was enchanted again. Speaking of which, i'm surprised that the only other full-caster in party failed to recognise that K'thriss was being magically influenced inside the crypt. Correct me if i'm wrong, but wasn't the only reason he wasn't fleeing was because he failed a saving throw? Even Donaar could see that he was acting irregular.
Actually that reminds me: literally made a separate pact with a god of devouring mouths. He lost his memory of it, sure, but he apparently did it.
Don't get me wrong; I'm not trying to justify Walnut's behavior, just trying to contextualize it. Walnut has consistently shown a visceral revulsion at the sign of "the betrayer," to the point where she's totally fine with the idea of killing or displacing and entire town's population to eradicate that symbology. That kind of prejudice doesn't just go away after a few apologies, so I think Amy is quite right in the way she is playing the character. As for the saving throw, people are going to interpret the same thing in different ways. Without knowledge of her teammate's background, it might be just as plausible to think that K'Thriss was actually showing his true colors at the crypt. *shrug*
In other news, Walnut seems to get on just fine with Rosie.

Rule clarification for Giant and Halflings; when you split the dice to double the bet, does that mean you only roll 1 dice for each bet or roll 3 dice for each bet?. (it says you split the dice but also says you roll an additional die)
I believe when you roll doubles (using dice heretofore known as D1 and D2) you split setting aside D1 and D2. They each become a separate bet for the same value. Then as each bet requires two halflings fight the giant an additional dice (D3) is rolled and added to D1. Then a fourth dice (D4) is rolled and added to D2. the results of D1+D3 are compared to the Knee, also D2+D4 are compared to the Knee and each bet is payed out accordingly.
Kiel Weiss one for each so you end up with two pairs. Four dice total.

Ya Walnut is a character i would not like playing with. Instead of growing closer to her team she instead dismissed him and his trust that he put in her. What would end up making me hostile towards her in game as that was extremely rude of her.
Romrapaara after seeing her open up to Trevor I'm on board. She just hasn't bonded with K'thriss like that yet.
Not really, to me it seemed pretty on brand for her. Walnut is easily my favorite character right now, I totally get that dark awkwardness.

Thrown off? No. Walnut has been an asshole the whole show so far. Many of the groups I've played with would have left the character behind a long time ago. I'm not sure if it's just role playing or if Amy is just this awkward in general. I'm happy to see her story arc starting to wrap up. It's not been great.
