1:12:15 - Scene on the cart with K'thriss popping out of the back and Rosie saying, in earnest, "Oh, no-no, that's my nightmare hole, don't worry about that." Had me chuckling as I walked away into the kitchen to grab some dinner, fresh out of the oven. Ten minutes later I'm back with a warm plate in hand, still giggling.
Can't wait to hit that play button again.

I liked how when Walnut couldn't take any realistic actions, Jerry created a situation for her to interact. I don't know if it was planned previously but I liked it.

I was actually waiting for her to confide in someone -- probably K'thriss, maybe Rosie as well -- that her magic is compromised. Even as self-sufficient and private as she is, I'd imagine this would be something she'd share because it could potentially risk the lives of her friends as well as it being something she'd want to focus on correcting.
I wonder if this would also affect her wild shape in some disturbing way, though she managed spider form alright last game.

The fight at the start had me lagit mad at Jerry because I so wanted donnar to win this.
HTMR4445 1 welcome to the world where GMs have rails that need to be met. As much as I dislike it, I recognize he has a storyline to follow so he can keep the show going, but yeah. Was bitter about it like everyone else at the restrictive nature of a "no" that shouldn't have happened.

I know, I have DMed before so I get it. It was just a bitter pill to bite. Still it will make watching shimmerscale get beaten later all the sweeter.
Frustrated me as well. Surprise round is followed by initiative order so the bottle was not his action and he totally should have been able to use draconic entitlement.
Enlightened Squirrel it wasn't the bottle that was the issue, he used an attack action to grapple shimmerscale and it's also an action to use draconic entitlement.
Jerry was very cleverly dropping hints that they would not win, as a good DM does.
People all too quickly get the idea all encounters need to go their way... well they don't, some DMs will make that clear with party wipes and others are a little more civilized.

Carrington. That's actually not a completely crazy idea. Carrington's whole deal was that he was a lush who worked for Dran Enterprises. Spice insinuated that DE were the people who clean up after AcqInc's mess. AcqInc promised to take Carrington with them when they left, but things went pear-shaped, and they ended up leaving him for dead. Again, all completely circumstantial, but he would fit in perfectly with the Six.

Just thinking... If Donar accidentally tripple critted the Prince and killed him... Could derail the campaign somewhat? Or he'd have to fudge the whole thing and make it out like the Prince has like 300 hit points or something irrational like that? Don't like to railroad the players, but sometimes it's not supposed to go one way and the DM tries to block it like a derraged goallie in a "dark" hockey game.
I thought of that as well. I feel like Jerry is a better story teller than that, though. Like, if that is a concern, why paint yourself into that corner? On the plus side, Draconic Entitlement finally did something.

Man... anyone else notice that so many of these famous stream games focus an abnormal amount on avoiding combat? Not knocking it- I've just never been in a game like that...
It is so much fun to roleplay yourself out of a combat encounter. You should try it.
Yeah, avoiding unnecessary combat is not at all uncommon to my main group. Unless there's a good reason for it, or the DM is a push over, typically not wise to pick fights in well-armed towns/cities. That's the sort of thing new players are more likely to do, just to test the world and flex their combat muscles before things go to hell for them...
Kate is of the opinion that role playing makes for better content. The group is playing for the audience, which warps it from a home game a little.
I don't think combat is super the point of D&D anyway, it's about telling a good story with friends as I see it. One might play Dark Souls instead if one was looking primarily for a combat experience in a game. :3
I think there are two types of games. Some have players who don't care for combat (like this one) and others have players that greatly enjoy combat (Acquisitions Incorporated Original). Most either have combat every session, or once a month.

Man is it always uncomfortable for a DM to have to deny the player or what? I had this same thing happen to me not too long ago, had a player get mad at me cuz I wouldn't use grouping instead of weapons feats. Personally I don't dislike grouping, except if you get rid of class known weapons then your screwing that one guy who wants to make himself an all around weapons guy. Then there is the exoctic weapons master prestige class in the complete warrior, grouping would make that class moot wouldn't it? Anyway it can become uncomfortable to have a player argue.

He has two attacks, not two actions. In D&D, those are distinctly different things. For Donaar, his two attacks count as one action while Draconic Entitlement is by itself an action.

Am I the only one thinking that this barfight was just the worst "comba"t ever?
1) "I cast Darkness" What? You don´t cast Darkness without having a good talk about it with all your team mates. In this situation it made it basicly impossible for anybody to do anything.
2) Feary Fire. Oh wow, now the enemies have advantage on attacks against Donaar and he still can´t see anything.
3) "Two move actions would´t be fair." (44:39) One can split their movement. And getting across a table won´t use 30ft. Also Rosie is a monk and has movement for days. Also also she just screwed her party member plan (again) with not moving out of there.
Hex is bonus action, and pick an ability to have Disadvantage for an ability check. So the Wis check for the Dissonant Whispers from K'thriss should have been Disadvantage, and 4d6 (3d6 DW+1d6 extra from Hex)
Mike Henderson ability checks and saving throws aren't the same thing. and hex works on attacks. spell attacks not saving throws.
Mike Henderson disonant whispers asks for a wis saving throw not a wis check. no disadvantage and no extra damage.
Pg 251 player's handbook, "Until the spell ends, you deal an extra 1d6 necrotic damage to the target whenever you hit it with an attack"...Dissonant Whisper (pg 234 ) is an attack...and K'thriss said he cast it at higher level, so 3d6 (+1d6 each slot level above first) + Hex 1d6
Mike Henderson dissonant whispers is not an attack because the spell doesnt have an attack roll. it has a saving throw. so it doesnt benefit from the extra damage. its a spell that does damage but that doesnt make it an attack.
Havok is correct. An attack is defined as anything that uses an attack roll. Spells that auto-hit, whether they allow for a save for half or no damage don't count (tho they've been ignoring that thru the campaign using magic missile from the cloak) Also, about the disadvantage being only on ability checks and not saving throws, or attacks. It can make escaping grapples slightly more difficult... but they get to choose between Str or Dex for that, so they can use whichever isn't affected by Hex.

You don’t get a saving throw, and you can’t use uncanny dodge or evasion.” Jarrod: “Why? I have the Dungeon Delver Feat. What type of trap was it?” Chris: “A basic trap. You just failed the check.”

Jack Gardner not all games are battle centric. A good rp heavy game is very fun. Especially to watch. An hour of listening to die rolls isn't always great.

I don't like what's happening around 20 minutes in. I don't like this situation. If I were Donnar I feel like I'd react more angry and open about what happened. I think I'd know immediately that they were talking about Eggie because what the 'Princess' said previously cut me like a knife. I didn't steal any child and she wouldn't even hear me out. The only reason we didn't go to blows that time was because; 1, the child was present; 2, they had very powerful and proficient guards; and 3, we weren't very strong ourselves yet. I mean, it's their characters but...yaknow. I waited 20 minutes before saying anything because I thought maybe Donnar was just getting a late start at explaining the shit but welp. And the party isn't helping either. Curious to see how they get out of it though.

I like the idea that every time you remember some extra damage roll it's actually K'thriss struggling out another detail from the dim memories of his patron, and adding it as an after thought. A feathering after-touch.
So anyone he attacks has a few ticks of extra damage over a few seconds as the little twists resolve. Little Ur-gifts, a nagging itch in the center of their back.
