Jerry's reaction to a nat 20 is my favorite thing about this show.
All the characters have become so great and Jerry has really dialed in all these great descriptions. Definitely become my favorite series rivaling the normal acq inc crew
John Currado For me, Acq Inc Main is overall funnier, whereas this is IMO better high fantasy. It's like the difference between a comedy movie and a fantasy movie. They're both great for different reasons.

The ruling on spells is bonus action spells are super fast, and once you have cast one, you can only cast cantrips with your action. Just for reference for those interested.
I do like walnut, I love k'thriss, Rosie is dope, but I cannot WAIT for donnaar's plot.

These people have a stunning lack of understanding of druids! Now, I realize Walnut was with the EPA, and that explains it for her character (as well as the love of bureaucracy). But has Rosie not been paying attention this entire time? Walnut kills all kinds of stuff, all the time... violently!

Helpful Tips that will probably never be seen by the players:
For spell-casters: Default spell rules are you can only cast 2 spells per provided one of them is a cantrip. Otherwise just a single spell per turn.
For melee attackers: With multi attack you can choose too attack different targets, all attacks don't have to be on the same target.
For Kris: Eldritch blast is a d10 damage (Kris used a d6). Additionally not sure what invocations were chosen but if you are going to use Blast/Hex combo often, Agonizing blast adds your charisma modifier and it applies to each blast projectile(shoots 2 at lvl 5, 3 at lvl 11 and 4 at lvl 17) so each attack that hits will be 1d10 + 1d6 + chr mod. You can also stack on Repelling blast invocation which knocks targets you hit 10 feet back no save required. So at 11th lvl if every blast hits you can push an enemy back 30 feet away while dealing massive damage.
For everyone: You can choose to deal non lethal damage to enemies and reduce them to 0hp instead of killing them anytime you want. So you can incapacitate an an enemy, Tie them up and than either heal them or wait for them to wake up in 1d4 hours.(some GM's allow you to slap them awake though.)
I haven't thought about it before but I suspect cutscenes like that can be great tools to teach players how to be aware of metagaming and how to try avoiding it. Over time players will get practice at separating player knowledge from character knowledge and should get better at it eventually!
I'm of firm opinion that the GM shouldn't give players information their characters don't have. It's way easier on everyone. If he wants to impart special knowledge to the viewers it's easy to insert the video of an aside where he describes the scene at a bio break or just splice it into the TH-cam video after.

Casting as a Bonus Action: if you cast a spell as a Bonus Action, you CAN cast another spell. However it has to be a CANTRIP with a casting time of 1 action.
Kris was right. It's the basis of the Warlock Class (Hex + Eldritch Blast). It's also the bane of the Warlock class. It does little else well. All theme, no substance. Since the beginning in 2014, and yet other classes get "my class is weak" whining. (I'm looking at YOU, Ranger)
There, rules lawyer rant done. Of ANY 5E rule misinterpreted or done wrong, it's that one that happens the most.

warlock can be a lot of fun
This is not the place for this conversation, but the warlock class is not as weak as people make it out to be.
Sure, each round of combat is typically an eldritch blast, but how is that different from any martial class who swings their sword or shoots an arrow? What's more, the warlock's eldritch blast does more damage than most martial weapons, and scales up to more attacks per round than most classes get. It's no wizard, but the at-will invocations and cantrips give the warlock a lot of magical options.
When you look at the warlock with the expectations of a martial class, you'll find that it is very powerful in combat, and has a lot of useful magic tools to go with it.
Respectfully, I beg to differ on nearly every point. The Warlock is woefully under-powered compared to every other caster class, including hybrid casters like Paladins, Rangers, Eldritch Knights and Arcane Tricksters.
The reason is this: it's a class that needs "DM's Permission" to work. What that means is this. It's a Short Rest junkie. It needs short rests to get the majority of it's abilities back - what few it has. If there isn't a break because of pursuit, or siege, or something else, then there's no renewal. Having a SINGLE spell slot for any class in 5E is preposterous. It stays that way until...what...third? The Invocations it currently gets "for free" (no spell slots or components" are "starting level" abilities - and always remain that way.
It lacks the armor or defenses of other hybrid casters (save the Arcane Trickster), the hit points of any other class save the Arcane Trickster, but has no guaranteed burst damage like Sneak Attack that the AT possesses. Furthermore, where the AT lacks armor and such, it gains more spells, cantrips, and has way more skills than a Warlock.
Compared to a Cleric, a Warlock is a sidekick. Clerics have more and better spells, armor, weapons (potentially) and class abilities that parties crave.
Compared to anything martial, a Bladelock suffers next to hybrids like Paladins, Rangers and Eldritch Knights. All are better armed, do more things, and have more room for expansion than a Warlock. Want to still play a Bladelock try Matt Mercer's Blood Hunter and go with Profane Soul. THAT'S a Bladelock.
Left to their own devices, Warlocks as they are currently made are a Hex/Eldritch Blast button masher. That gets boring.
Now, as far as THEME goes, the Warlock has tons of roleplaying depth. But, thanks to some unspoken hatred by Mike Mearls, the Warlock is what it is because "That's how I wanted them to be". (paraphrasing Mike Mearls there)
The Warlock deserves spell slots equivalent to other full-time casters, because that's what they are. Hell, a BARD is a more well rounded thematic class than the Warlock, and fights better as a Skald and casts better...with a D8 hit die....without needing a precious Invocation to get that extra attack. Bladesingers out melee Warlocks. Seriously. Mearls must hate Warlocks.
Rangers get a lot of "boo hoo my class sucks" chatter, and Warlocks get told to sit at the back of the bus.
Again, I do not mean to trample on your love of Warlocks, but this has been a sensitive issue with me since 5E came out in 2014. I SO looked forward to the class, and then after playing one as my very first 5E character, I was left disappointed, angry, and feeling betrayed. I've DMed other players who played Warlocks, and they always have that "well, I can't do that...no slots left...umm...I guess I can only Eldritch Blast" statement at some point.
Pathfinder, on the other hand, has a Witch class. Oddly, NOT a single-spell-slot/needs-short-rests-like-a-crutch mess. Hmm.

As far as its magical abilities go, I think you're cutting it short. I acknowledge that warlocks are reliant upon short rests to get the most out of their spells. However, what the warlock lacks in number and variety of spells, it makes up for with the potency of its spells, which are always cast at the highest level available up to 5th level spells, and 1 per long rest of higher level spells. From level 2 the warlock has two max level slots per short rest, gaining a 3rd at level 11 and a 4th at 17. Compare this to a wizard who only gets 2 of its highest level slots per day until 4th level spells at level 7 when it only gets 1. Of course, the wizard also gets many lower level slots, to which the warlock answers with their array of at-will, or even once per long rest invocations. No, it's not the same, but some of those invocations can go a long way.
If you really want to make up for those low level spells, a 3 level dip in a full caster class will net you several more spells known and 6 more slots for those low level spells that don't scale.
I understand that the warlock doesn't live up to your expectations as a caster class, but I think that that perspective is distracting you from the strengths of the warlock. Warlocks aren't designed for lots of utility magic like a wizard or cleric. If you compare the class to martial classes, the warlock becomes a single target ranged dps, like an archer, with some magical icing on the cake. This is the main point I was trying to make with my original post. Warlocks are not without their weaknesses, but the argument I hear the most is that all they do is cast eldritch blast, to which I point at the guy with the bow and ask what he's doing each round. Warlocks fall back on their eldritch blast more often than not, but its not falling back very far when eldritch blast is as powerful as it is.
Who cares if the level 5 wizard has spell slots to burn on magic missile (1st level) for 10.5 avg dmg, or scorching ray (2nd level) for 13.65 avg dmg (assuming 13AC), when the level 5 warlock can sling eldritch blasts indefinitely for 12.35 avg dmg (assuming 13AC). Eldritch blast is just that good. On top of that, the Warlock will get their two 3rd level slots back on a short rest, but the wizard won't.
If I find the time, I could do some side by side comparisons of eldritch blast dpr verses various other weapons that other martial classes would use. I already have most of the infrastructure for such calculations built in spreadsheets that I've used in the past for similar purposes.
On the surface it seems to me that Eldritch blast will come out on top, or at least keep up, by virtue of the fact that it deals 1d10 while most one handed and ranged weapons deal 1d6 or 1d8. Furthermore, it scales up to 3 and 4 attacks per round while most martial classes cap out at 2, or 3 if they burn their bonus action on offhand attacks. Of course, this isn't taking into account the warlock's hex or the feats and abilities other classes may have to beef up their attacks. Any hard calculations I make would equate for this.
I love these people and i love this game. I hope they release a line of C-Team shirts like the Acq. Inc prime characters so I can buy all eight. This podcast bring me joy and reminds me how important it is to just sit with friends and have fun.

Sorry to hear that - my best to your family for this loss. I lost my mum last year (a week before my 45th birthday) after being her carer for 4 years nearly - and also had a complete breakdown later that day as a result from all the stress. Still recovering and trying to deal with it now, but thankfully these videos - along with Critical Role - and my local bunch of friends/gaming group I've been with for nearly 20 years, have kept me somewhat happy and sane. I know exactly what videos like this can mean at tough times. My best wishes to you for the future.

Donaar has fun playing "Weekend at Bernie's". Gross, and fantastic! I love this group so much, I incorporated them into my own game that I DM because I had a moment of pressure and couldn't think about anything else.
You can cast a cantrip as an action if you bonus action spell.
Walnut can bite and claw separate targets. They are also separate attacks and she can claw whether she hits with the bite or not.

To be more specific: You have one attack action on your turn, and the bite/claw listed as "multiattack" is an attack-action option (so technically they're not separate attacks). Whenever you can make two or more separate rolls as part of your attack-action in 5E, you can dish them out to whatever targets you want, and even use increments of your movement speed between doing so (Move 5 feet - Bite - Move 10 feet - Claw - Move 5 feet)

That seems really strong. But then, like she said, the real gag is nothin' beats being just a plain ol bear.
It's a standard mechanic of the game. So at level 5, Barbarian and Fighter get a second attack when using the Attack Action. In the same way they can make their two attacks vs different opponents and move in between each roll. Think of it all as consisting of a single attack action, but incorporates two separate rolls and the ability to move around while making them.
Bonus Tip: Check out the feat Mobile- it allows you to move away from enemies you've attacked without provoking attack of opportunity, whether you hit them or not. The feat also grants a bonus 10' of movement.
I wanna take a moment to appreciate the creation of a wood elf order, and giving it a name that is EPA. That is a master stroke and as a fellow DM i deeply appreciate it.

Hex only gives a damage bonus to the caster (and the caster only). It works on any subsequent attack, including punches, kicks, swords to the face or spells that require rolling a d20 vs AC. Eldritch Blast is specially good, because higher levels grant extra attacks (so multiple extra d6s) instead of just making a spell hit harder.
You can Hex and Cantrip on the same turn, so it usually goes Hex -> Eldritch Blast. A melee warlock might combo it with a weapon instead. You can cast regular spells on subsequent turns (even if you use your bonus action to move the Hex), but I'm not sure many spells can beat the damage from an Eldritch Blast with Hex.
44:40 Per the 5e PHB, if you cast a spell as a Bonus Action, you can't cast (or have cast) a spell on the same turn using your Action, unless the Action spell is a Cantrip with a casting time of 1 Bonus Action.

This is easily the best live action D&D show out there. Everything is well lit, the sound is actually audible and even more important the people are incredibly entertaining. Jerry's story is genuinely intriguing too.

Agreed. Crit Role is better. Admittedly, they've been playing for years and they're all professional voice actors. Production value is slightly better on C-Team though.
I do wish C-Team did miniatures and music though, that's something that really immerses in Crit Role. I get slightly bored during C-Team and have to watch each episode in chunks.

This is a few months late, but nit picking the rules is a waste of time. Anyone who has ever played and was not the DM, never complained when they went for the impossible like playing a Reaping Mauler/Monk and stuck a blue dragon in a headlock (3.5e). The DM fudges the rules sometimes to make it an epic experience, a good DM knows when to be a stickler and when to make the PC's feel like champions. Remember ultimately the DM is not really out to kill the PC's, unless the version is first or second edition than...yeah the DM is totally out to kill the PC's lol.

She actually foreshadowed the hair length change a couple of episodes ago before it got suddenly long. That to me is evidence that she's up to some sort of shenanigans. It could be extensions, or she could taking a new medication, or maybe they just had a long break between episodes. I don't know, but there's clearly something going on behind the scenes.

I don't think Walnut can become a brown bear.....She is level 4 so she can only become CR 1/2 and below animals and the brown bear is CR 1. She was doing some serious damage there.
Hi, here I am a year later skimming the comments because I get bored very easily. I'm pretty sure she's a Circle of the Moon druid, which allows for CR rating 1 when you take that circle and increases to 1/3rd your druid level (rounded down) at level 6 (swim/fly rules still apply), and further lets you take Elemental shape at level 10. Its why she can wild shape as a bonus action.

Why are DM boons and banes only used AGAINST the players...I thought DMs were supposed to be neutral
Every game is a little different, y'know? In this particular set up, the individual players are given their own boons to use at their discretion. I agree, it does sometimes move the slider closer to the DM being an "antagonist" rather than a completely neutral arbiter.
But in this particular group I think it's working. If I had my own boons to activate, I wouldn't really want the DM to swoop in and do cool stuff on my behalf - it removes agency from the player.
Someone needs to balance out the games. If the DM used advantage to help the players, he'd have to scale up the CR on the enemies to keep the challenge, so either way the DM makes it more difficult.

-Hex is a bonus action. Which means you can use it as well as any spell that costs an action in the same turn.
-Everybody seems to forget the advantage from FF and the Hex damage sometimes.
-Eldritch blast has a d10 but Kris uses a d6?
-I was told that 'saves' don't count as Ability Checks, and therefore Hexes don't really diminish saving throws. Just stuff like grapples, climbing, swimming, chasing and other activities.

I tell players 1 spell slot per turn. That's the easiest way to remember it. Hex, Misty Step & Healing word tend to be the most used Bonus that I've seen incorrectly cast. To be fair I didn't know this for ages when I started 5th Ed. Chris Perkins often lets Holly get away with Misty step and another spell in Dice, Camera Action. I guess its either a lack of knowledge of the rules or a DM choice to let it slide for story. Jerry and Chris both do a great job of story first.
