Dr Burns, I've listened to all the feeling good podcasts and they are amazing. You've had some pretty remarkable experiences throughout your life. I know you treat people in single 2 hour sessions and I've heard the various live demonstrations on the podcast. But I wonder how many other therapists working with TEAM have been able to replicate this in their own practice. You do seem to have a uniqueness in your own approach which is very personal to you and informed by your personal experiences. I've worked with a (level 1) TEAM CBT practicioner a while back and sadly even after like 10 sessions we did not get to any significant change in my mood. But the sessions were also usually 1 hour and it kind of felt like each time we had to start over and would hardly even get to any methods. They were very good with the empathy phase though, for sure. I wish I could try out the app but I'm waiting for it to be available in Europe.
Yes, what you say is so true. I have trained over 50,000 therapists in my workshops in the US and Canada over the past 35 years and I can confirm how difficult it is for many of them to learn TEAM CBT. I believe this will always be the case, and that's why I've worked so hard to create the Feeling Great app. I hope it will soon be available in Europe and worldwide. I appreciate and totally agree with your comment and feel sad about your experience, but I'm not surprised. warmly, david
Thanks for the psychodrama marathon and Highlander Boys anecdotes. Gripping . . . The ‘rapid’ component is the best part! Who doesn’t want to heal ASAP?❤
Thank you for your kind comments. My son recently married a young woman from Russia and they just returned from a trip to Georgia to visit her mother. I'm not travelling much these days, but appreciate you! best, david
Yes! In fact, I often say that sadness can be a form of celebration and one of the highest experiences a human being can have, especially when you are tuning in to your own suffering or the suffering of others. best, david
Thank you for sharing this wonderful story that helps us understand the origins of the great TEAM CBT
Thank you! You're so welcome! best, david
