Jason Gauthier I agree with you completely. I recently switched to a plant-based diet about a month and a half ago and at around that same time started listening to a lot of health-based TH-cam documentaries, podcasts, etc. including several of Joe’s podcasts and I usually enjoy his podcast but when he gets on rants of anti-Veganism it’s quite annoying. I don’t strictly listen to pro vegan info because sadly when people are firm believers in something all they tend to tell you about is all the positives and never mention the negatives so it’s nice to listen to both sides and then if necessary do a bit of research to see which side is providing more accurate info. Joe is a smart guy and his podcast are quite entertaining typically but he does everything he can to sway the conversation drastically toward his beliefs so his podcasts tend to lead me to do more research. IMHO your body doesn’t care where it get the nutrients as long as it gets them and there is literally nothing that you can’t get from a plant based Whole Foods diet if you plan out/monitor your diet.

Tho, like with President Ding Dong, it's obvious to people who are better at critical thinking, that Trump is a scam artist, with Joe, most (meat eaters) are just going to go along with what he says. Not going to convince them otherwise. For those people who are dipping a toe into veganism, Mic's vid helps with the confusing messaging on the topic. So, like you said, thanks Mic! :)

    • @soyboy7218

@@blairmaffin3287 Vegan propaganda? Seriously? Yes, everyone is biased if you haven't fucking heard. Everyone has a bias, just like you do and in what you're showing right now with your own "propaganda". Vegan cultists? Really? We don't worship a specific being or object and our ethics aren't sinister or or strange. All we want is for animals not to be harmed or exploited as much as practical and possible, but sure, if you want to call having empathy a cult, go ahead. You sound extremely insecure for someone who is so sure of themselves. Trust me, we have critical thinking and we look at scientific evidence and what it has concluded so far (though vegans are based on an ethical standpoint since it isn't a diet, it's an animal rights movement), and for you to tell someone to stop lapping up the piss of people speaking on veganism and treating animals with basic respect it sure looks like you've got your tongue out waiting for the other side to piss into your mouth in order to fuel your own set of beliefs.

Game Changers is a great movie. It’s really the first movie I can recommend to my non-vegan friends and family because it’s just really well produced, entertaining, and not “preachy”. It doesn’t make it all sound like some big conspiracy, it’s just a great movie about some elite athletes who found a way to improve their performance and recovery. I also love that they clearly cite all their evidence for anyone who wants to further investigate the science.

I felt the same way. It's also the first one that I felt was good enough to recommend to my doctor. His response was "I don't have time to watch a movie about food. I have much professional material I need to follow, but you can summarize and give us the essence. Otherwise you'll have to contact someone who knows something about alternative diets". I don't know how to summarize that movie in a way that makes him interested in it without writing it off as pseudoscience before even looking into it. And that's the gist I've gotten from many of my friends too - the doubt can be overwhelming when you're not willing to spend lots of hours doing research or finding health professionals who already did so.

      Memory improved
      Digestion improved
      Triglycerides down 50%
      HDL nearly doubled
      Inflammation decreased to nothing
I don't really care what the vegan propaganda machine wants to try to tell me about their "science". It's wrong. I was vegan at a previous point in my life and felt like crap for the majority of it. Bloated, hungry, lethargic, etc. You know what I'm talking about. All that is gone.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not claiming it was all meat. I made other changes and I think the biggest confounders are eliminating process foods, sugars and vegetable oils. I think that those are some of the key items that people eliminate when they go vegan and feel better but you all think it's because they eliminated meat. Meat is healthy. We have millions of years eating meat to prove it is needed and healthy. You couldn't have been vegan 200 years ago without eating a deficient diet. Being fully vegan is a fad diet of the last 50 years that has been propped up by poor epidemiological science.
Anyways, if being vegan works for you, I'm glad you've found your thing 🍻

    • @MindVersusMisery
      @MindVersusMisery 5 ปีที่แล้ว

@@blairmaffin3287 I would say that if you we're eating a vegan diet and consumed lots of processed foods, like oils and sugar, than of course that is not what I am talking about either.
A vegan lifestyle is about animal ethics, and a vegan diet can either be healthy or unhealthy. A vegan diet says more about what you DON'T eat, rather than what you DO eat.
So even though I strongly respect people leaving out animal products of their diet for ethical reasons, I promote healthy eating as well.
And the best diet to my understanding, after reading up on this for about 5-6 years, is a diet centered around whole plant foods; Whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, fruits and vegetables.
Basing your diet on animal products first of all very unethical, since it entails both exploitation of other sentient beings, and violence and killing of these beings. Then we have the agricultural impact of either using grains for food for animals, or using up massive acres of land for grazing. Both of these scenarios are bad for ecology and/or wildlife.
But beyond all that I am certain that you're not doing yourself a favor regarding your health. Losing weight and improving biomarkers is probably not from increasing meat in your diet, but from eating less processed foods.
And if you were to eat whole plant foods, you would probably have the same results or even better. I'm saying this with great humility, not in a critical way.
I hope you're not setting yourself up for heart disease or other degenerative diseases. But the science I've read, even long before going vegan, says that eating high saturated fats, cholesterol and animal protein is very bad for human health.
Lastly, thanks for keeping a civilized tone. Not many people can handle the TH-cam comment section. :)

Okay, I watched it... That's easily one of the best talks of its kind I've seen. I'm surprised I hadn't heard of him.
I gave up meat and then animal products about a year after that was released, incidentally, and initially for purely environmental sustainability reasons, but I wonder what seeing that talk would have done earlier.

@@SolarScion I know, I couldn't believe I didn't see that TED Talk until much later! I made the connection after watching James Aspey's speech "This is your wakeup call" :) Cheers!

Disclaimer: was vegan for 3 years. Went whole food vegan with my mother because we believed it was her best shot at beating cancer. It wasn't.
Due to some crazy side effects which lead to a perforated bowel I was left trying to figure out how to stop my mom's insane weight loss. No way to eat enough vegetables to sustain her. She was unable to consume more than maybe 1/2 cup to 1 cup of mass per day.
Add to that chemo was no longer an option and her aggressive ovarian cancer was fired back up and growing at an all time high rate.
While searching for the most calorie dense foods on planet Earth in hopes of sustaining my mother I found keto. Out of simplicity sake I abandoned veganism as well to make buying and preparing food easier. Being a full time care giver is no easy task
I was getting nearly 2000 calories a day in her in a red Solo cup. It was a high fat high protein shake I made with various oils and protein powders. Plus some things like magnesium she desperately needed.
She went from losing a pound a day and wasting away to gaining weight. And getting stronger.
Soon she was walking. And her pain from her cancer was lessening. It seemed to be a miracle.
At the same time I was losing weight faster than I ever had eating vegan. And as a bonus I didn't have to eat every 3 freaking hours to stay full. In fact I was so satiated I normally only ate twice a day. This made my life so much easier. At a time when I needed all of the help I could get.
Then her next oncologist visit. The cancer has stopped growing. What?!?!
This cancer that went through 8 different chemo protocols that none of them barely slowed down was now stopped! Insanity.
The next month we went in again. More scans. The cancer was stable. Doctors mind blow. Our minds blown.
Then a few weeks later the unthinkable. The perforated bowel that had never 100% healed ruptured. She was unable to survive that.
    Anecdotal you say? Ok
For every piece of literature you can show me that indicates plant diets are best I can show you one that says animal bases diets are best
One to one. All day long
I left my career to care for my mother. Nearly 5 years I did nothing but care for my mom and read every piece of research I could get my hands on. It was my life. Because it was my mother's life.
You want to be vegan for ethical reasons? Great. I wish you well.
You want to sell this bullshit agenda that a plant diet is best? Get bent. You do not have the scientific or evolutionary high road there. Just stop. You make yourself look stupid.

I am sorry also... I sentiment your thoughts I see many people breaking down from the diet, but it’s never the diet. Im just tired of the lies and deceit.. Please continue telling your story! And I wish the best to you!

Joe Rogan knows you can be vegan and healthy. He totally gets it. He isn't stupid, he just doesn't care about animals. So showing how people can do well on a vegan diet ignores the real issue. It's that people don't care enough about animals. We need to focus on getting people to care more about animals, if we want them to change. That is what it boils down to in the end.

I think Joe Rogan needs to take the "erection test" and see how he fares! Game Changers was an awesome show. I watched it twice.

As someone who grew up with the nickname hotdog and was pushed into disability by the Rogan sort of male ego, I've been needing a film like Game Changers to speak for me. I've argued this position since 2012.
