Non vegans get upset because they want good news about their bad habits but there's no good news because the evidence that a vegan whole plants foods based diet is better for your health is increasing daily. The evidence that a non vegan diet is bad for your health is also increasing and they know because of that their on the wrong side because the evidence of a non vegan diet on the planet and how they are contributing to it is also increasing and they feel guilty about that.

It's amazing how many people mistakenly equate bodybuilding physiques (and that type of appearance in general) and overall strength with health. I was obsessed with the bodybuilding thing in my younger years but as I got older switched to being overall more athletic. It's a way healthier lifestyle, and that's what really matters. The other stuff is just aesthetic and mostly non-functional in the real world.
Bodybuilding and strongman aren't the same, bodybuilding is about physique, strongman is about physical strength, almost every strongman has big muscle muscles and a thick layer of fat on top of those muscles.

@Citizenthirteen yes and some will say that Gorillas sometimes eat insects and such. That is an outright lie, but even if that is the case, have you seen the teeth on a Gorilla. They have the teeth of an omnivore but eat plants.
@Citizenthirteen actually, they eat like 99% plants. Gorillas and other closely related primates to us tend to be opportunistic omnivores, as we have also evolved to be. This means that they can eat other things when there is scarcity of succulent, tender plant foods that are optimal for consumption, such as insects, eggs and even meat. Gorillas will eat insects when the only plant foods around are highly fibrous, tough and calorically low.
Thank you for bringing up Kendrick Farris too. So many people hold the stereotype that vegans are frail and weak, I love seeing the strongest of us proving everyone wrong with literal world records.
@Matt Bond I mean we just covered this in the video if you actually watched it, Patrik deadlifted 800 official while Robert hit 750 official. If you want to go off of backyard unsanctioned PRs, be my guest, but Robert should change his narrative if that's the case.
@Matt Bond Patrik - 360kg (794lb) Deadlift (1 Rep) Robert - 340kg (750lb) Deadlift (4 reps) If you don't know the difference 44 pounds makes on a lift, you clearly don't lift. If you want to argue on this channel, you're going to have to bring facts. Does it make you uncomfortable that a vegan has a higher sanctioned 1RM than an omnivore? What are you trying to prove here exactly? Maybe Robert should suck it up and pull a 795 in competition if he wants to talk trash. Let's not forget that 0.5% of U.S. citizens are vegan.
@Matt Bond Wow! Those are incredible numbers! It makes me happy to see vegans like you lifting such massive weight, as it really goes a long way to combat the stereotype that vegans can't be strong. Well done!
Hey Mic, I just wanted to say Thank you so much for your work and for who you are. Your channel is unique and delightful. Look, I'm no strong man but i go to a pretty intense group training. And not only am i one of the oldest, I'm also the only plant based person. I can tell you right now, on a regular basis I'm out performing both men and women in my class!
I find Joe Rogan a lazy interviewer. For the most part, he is just BSing his way through the interview with a few facts and then a lot about him and his opinion and experiences. I don't get the appeal. When you listen to interviews with his guest by better interviewers, you can really learn something about that person, their thinking, and experiences. Not so with Joe.
TWROC96 My point is that it’s a conversation, so he shouldn’t come prepared with a bunch of facts to ‘interview’ the guest. That’s why he’s there. To have a conversation and discover stuff along the way.
I mean, honestly, sounds like both Rogan and Oberst don't know much of the nutrition regarding what it is to be... well, any kind of muscle-building athlete even as amateurs. Setting aside the steroids discussion, all you really need is to work out in a certain way and eat more calories and more protein than the average person to build that kind of muscle. Is it trickier to have a vegan diet and be a strongman or even just a skilled casual athlete of any kind? I suppose, but there are plenty of meat eaters who can't even grasp that a lot of their gains happen in the kitchen and not in any gym just addressing something as simple as weight loss and not something much more intensive than that. If anything, I would make the argument that most vegans actually are more likely to succeed in athletics as they already have a better understanding of their own nutrition and food intake than a lot of people who eat meat.
Eat more calories is a myth for gaining muscle. Lactic acid causes muscle expansion after healing, and you definitely dont need 6000 calories to heal if you train a certain way (singles at 70%) that being said, you cant thrive off of vegan diet, where as you CAN a meat only diet but also cut ten years off your life as well. If you eat vegan 70% of the time and eat some fish, small portions of red meat, you will thrive. Especially when you eat meat to repair lol sad but true. We need it all.
@@joe06051989 have you ever had doms? Thats an over exposure to lactic acid, and low glucose stores in the muscle. Protein and carbohydrates work together to move water, amino acids, and glucose to your damaged muscle. This is why doms is bad. It makes muscle deflate. Obviously NOT if your a beginner. But a beginner constantly feeling doms every week is a bad thing. Its to much to text in here, but this is what ive been taught. Check out john meadows. Hes on gear but is very knowledgeable.
All strongmen take steroids. It doesn't matter what your diet is if you take copious amounts of steroids. They always forget to mention this part of their diet.
Great video! Just one clarification: Bodybuilding and strongman aren’t the same thing. But I’m sure strongmen also don’t have great life expectancy either!
Yup, body builders want to look their best, whereas looking at Robert here it's pretty clear that is not the goal. He is strong, but looks like the offspring of Madame Butterfly and the Michelin man.

@@johnnyroe8053 You would be surprised how many so called "reasonable and intelligent" people are morons by mine or your standards. As with everything.
When it comes to athletics, there’s nature and there’s nurture. You can have the best diet, an elite body fat %, the best training program, and the perfect amount of rest. You can have all that and still lose to someone with better genetics. Robert Oberst has great strength genes. Same with his buddy Eddie Hall. Eddie literally has identified a gene set that allows him to endure strenuous exercise for super physiological periods of time. So it’s pretty rare that someone like Robert Oberst exists in the first place. He is 0.00001% of the population, so to speak. Expecting to find someone with that rare a genetic makeup, someone who is willing to eat those excessive quantities of calories, and put in all those hours of training - and also be vegan - I think it’s asking a lot. But we did find someone pretty close to that in Patrik Baboumian. For his weight-class he is the elite of the elite. So all he had to do was break the ice and show that vegans can compete at the highest level, which he obviously did.
Not only do I think Joe is more curious about veganism than he wants to admit. But I honestly think he just does this for the attention. All the Keto/paleo people will love it, the people that hate vegans just to hate them will love it, and vegans will tune in so they can tear him apart. So much attention!
Unlike Patrik, Robert is a classified pro strongman and has placed in the finals of WSM, that literally makes him one of the worlds strongest men. Patrik does deserve some credit for winning the German nationals, But Patrik does not even compete on the same tier a Robert oberst. Therefore you can not compare there strongman careers in this way. I am not saying that vegan or non-vegan is better I am merely pointing out the flaws in your argument so that you can hopefully come up with a better one.
You're just wrong. Patrick was european powerlifting champion FOR HIS WEIGHT RANGE, amongst other great achievements, Robert is way taller than him so of course Patrick isn't going to compete for world's strongest man but he was the best out of 700 million people, how is he any less of an athlete as Robert?
Marco Frank because he can’t even compete in wsm... not only will they not invite him but he literally can’t even be there because he won’t survive it. Patric can only front squat a 90 kg for like 4 reps when he went against faceless. They do double those for reps in wsm warmups? He also could only squat a 340 kg twice dude. They do 325 and 360 kg for reps in wsm
"... against 0 competitions won". Yes, well, Robert Oberst might not have won anything, but he did make it into the WSM finals, meaning he is amongst the 10 strongest men on the planet. Just saying.
You forgot to say that Robert is 6 years younger, 60 kilos heavier when you said that Patrik can lift more than his official best despite being 30 centimeters smaller.. just to add insult to injury.. Also Patrik looks Robert's age and Robert looks Patrik's age
@@shockwavesyndrome6433 well Robert hasn't been there for the past 6 years.. not only he doesn't compete in WSM anymore but he hasn't won anything in his career.. Patrik has won titles. He never won world championship but at least he was able to win a european championship..
Renard Dubois Patrick was wrong Robert holds the American record for the log lift Patrick only holds off brand records not in the Arnold classic or WSM so they aren't really as credible
@@shockwavesyndrome6433 Patrik is 5'7". He's never going to be a contender for WSM. You have to be a genetic outlier to compete in that competition. Patrik is incredibly strong for his size.
That really would be an extraordinary argument against veganism...'I don't want to be vegan because I could only lift the equivalent of a small car, and I need to be able to lift a little more than that'.
But the thing you have to remember about Rogen, is, he likes meat, and he appreciates a dark moment in hunting. So that makes it okay to do this. And isn't it weird how they just try their hardest to down play it, almost as if they are threatened in some way.
Another huge factor that affects the comparison of their PRs is the number of reps. If Patrik’s was a triple at 800, his one rep max would be higher than that.
I think you're dead right. Joe 'Martial Arts/Hunter' Rogan is fighting against his closet vegan. He knows he's wrong. He loves animals and yet he thinks he needs to eat them for strength, so he has to invent and support reasons to do so. That guy has been talking about vegans since he had hair; I've heard the stand up bits. He doesn't have to down veganism, no one asks about it, but he keeps talking about it. That and martial arts and that he's a hunter now. He talks about that stuff a lot. 😂😂
Rogan does a lot overcompensating with his interest in those primal ‘ultra masculine’ pursuits like MMA & thrill-killing of animals & has often expressed butch & even sexist attitudes towards women. It’s made me question that he might be deep in the closet about something, but veganism wasnt the first thing that sprang to my mind. lol
Joe is an insecure coward, truth be told. He talks about hunting and eating meat to compensate for his deep insecurities. Funny, though, I've never viewed hinting as manly.. To the contrary, it's more of an activity for those terrified of a true challenge.
Bradley Smith ever thought he just liked to this sort of shit? This comment section sure has a lot of insight into Rogan for never meeting and talking to the guy. I mean maybe you shit talk joe Rogan because you are jealous? The guy isn’t smart, but he at least seems to love his life and what he does.
Because he represents a lot of “bros” in search of themselves. But it’s like trying to use a hammer instead of a compass to find your way. The hammer may look tough, just does not lead you anywhere.
Becuase for the most part he is right and very good with facts. He isnt a liar bc he got one thing on a podcast wrong, vegans lie about him all the time does that mean there assholes or cucks n shit like this is redi
@Sergey Nikitin He is careful not to call himself "vegan" on the news, but he doesn't consume any animal products nor does he wear animal products. Sure technically plant-based means whole plant foods (so no potato chips for example because they are processed) but fundamentally he is vegan, at least by my definition. You are free to disagree but he doesn't consume or wear animal products - vegan in my books. :)
At 4:40 he sets the yoke down which in a real strongman contest would end the event. And that yoke is lighter than the first round yokes at the Arnold classic.
I do feel that Joe has a personal responsibility with the amount of people that he does have following him to put out correct information when he is talking about other people that are not invited to his show. otherwise he is setting himself up for a gigantic lawsuit and I would encourage anyone to do it at this point! it is definitely slander!
Hey Mic what database do you use to find the scientific articles and studies ? What kind of things do you search ? I tried using google scholar and quickly got overwhelmed ha ha ...
This is also another example of how Joe and people to share his viewpoint try to make veganism about everything that it's not. Veganism is about ethics, be it in relation to animals and/or the environment, but the man doesn't want to compute that people might actually make choices that aren't entirely selfish. Apart from him spreading misinformation about Patrick, to anyone who does not aspire to be a strongman, why does it matter wether you can lift 672 or 800 pounds on a vegan diet? And to those who do, I am pretty sure they are not gonna look to Joe's Podcast as an authority on the subject. Yet, it perpetuates the image of feeling weak when on a vegan diet to people who might not have ever lifted before, but suddenly feel like it applies to them. Even if what he was saying was true, which it is obviously not, an average person, the ones most of the world's population is consists of can live a long and healthy vegan life. But then again, he is one extra special Joe and extra special Joe has habits to justify.

Robert lifted 800 pounds not 750 and he lifted it four times, not three and you also try to correlate a four rep set with another man's known best single. You are as deceptive as Rogan after calling him out for it. As a neutral observer, you have lost all credibility with me. yeah, like how Patrick sold out to people that dont know better for $$ and fame :(
I mean, honestly, sounds like both Rogan and Oberst don't know much of the nutrition regarding what it is to be... well, any kind of muscle-building athlete even as amateurs.
I’m sure you’re far more athletic than Joe aren’t you? 🙄
Your so fucking wrong its not even funny.

@@therobinson5451 For me personally its first hand observation, I was in the Seventh Day Adventist church for many years, the church is known for keeping a healthy diet, they own Sanitarium. through all those years I have seen many who kept the vegetarian diet which seemed to be very beneficial for a healthy way of living, I also have seen those who were vegans which did not seem as healthy as the vegetarian diet.
Those who had health problems seem to be more vegans than the vegetarians, also the vegans didn't seem to look as healthy, they were underweight and just didn't look as good as the vegetarians, these were people who have been on these diets for many years, not just out of the blue like many today.
It can takes many years before certain health probables arise, the craze on the vegan diet sweeping the world has only been around for not so many years, young people who are on this diet do look great, simply because they are still young, but I believe down the track this will change for the worse.
@shawn Bosley Well said.
I have a suspicion your wrong tho ot can be healthy there are benifits to eating meat tho I get the moral aspect of this all
Have you seen his diet? 8 scoops of protein powder.. Processed sausages... A plate of chips. A ton of different supplements. Processed greens powder.. He drank his 'meals'.. You honestly can't say Patrick bouboumians diet is healthy.. If the diet was so good then why is he using a TON of extracted protein and a ton of supplements?
Oh Joe... he’s so threatened that veganism is on the rise. His studio is now his little safe space.
less than 1% of the world is vegan. Not all that threatening but ok...…
mindshotjon Yet he brings it up and tries to put down veganism any chance he gets 😂 if he didn’t feel his lifestyle was threatened then he wouldn’t care to even bring it up at all.
I don’t think Joe is “threatened” by people who eat veggies. Ooooo sooo scary. He’s talking about what’s a good diet chill. Joe just wants to know what’s up for these athletes.
CollapseAirsoftTeam Again... if he’s not feeling a little threatened then why does he take every chance he can get on his show to try to put down veganism? He literally did not have to bring up a vegan diet but he did. And he just had to bring up Patrick. Joe is obsessed with talking about vegans and obsessively tries to debunk veganism. I think he’s the one that needs to chill. Lol
Lady I’m just saying “Threatened” is the wrong word.
This was a great upload and more than made up for the last one !!!! 👍🏼🌱❤️
