Were you constipated, or just going less often? I did carnivore for a month for elimination purposes and still do a heavily meat-based diet. I still only poop about once a week, and it's not that much. It's a very low waste diet. When you're doing carnivore, everything that you're eating is highly bioavailable. When you're eating plants, your body has to expel much more excrement because so much of it is useless. If you are legitimately constipated, you can supplement magnesium citrate.

There are very few plant foods I can eat that don't upset my digestion (e.g. avocado, tomato, winter squash, coconut), and I wouldn't be able to meet my nutritional needs eating only from that narrow group of foods.
"Toxins from the meat" No, sorry, I don't believe you. I have done my own research as well. I am eating grass-finished beef from a farm within an hour of where I live, and it doesn't upset my digestion nearly as much as eating plant-based. The total cholesterol, LDL and HDL numbers mean nothing. You can be sick with "good" numbers and you can be healthy with "bad" numbers. You need to measure the particle size and number. This can be done with NMR or chromatography. Search terms are "LDL Particle Testing", "NMR LipoProfile", or "Lipoprint Lipoprotein Subfractions Testing System". If you have too much small dense LDL that is a problem. But the bigger ones are fine. And even the small dense ones are not the problem but the consequence of a problem, inflammation and insulin resistance from too much carbohydrates.

Debunking his pseudoscience is like a walk in the park for you... The one thing I wish you and all other vegans would move towards, is talking more (I know you already do this sometimes) about "eating animals" vs. "eating meat". Why?:
    1) The dictionary definition of meat already included plant-based foods for hundreds of years before Beyond Meat was invented, so talking about vegan meats, and even pushing the concept that "Vegans Eat Meat" (happens to be the name of a music video I made in the summer as well ;) just like we always tell people that vegans eat pizza, ice cream etc., would be way more effective in my opinion at making animal eaters open minded to trying the cruelty-free lifestyle than telling people to stop eating all of their favorite foods, "meat is murder" etc.
    2) It's not fair to the animals themselves to reduce their dead bodies to a food group (which includes vegan meats anyways) and talking about a "cow burger" "cow ice cream" vs. "coconut ice cream" etc. would go a long way towards reminding people they're eating the dead bodies and gross fluids of abused animals, if we start being mindful to include this in our everyday speech. At the moment a lot of people think vegan meats and cheeses are gross and that's backwards AF.
Language is a powerful tool, and even if this small (or perhaps revolutionary) linguistic change accelerated the vegan revolution by even 1% that would lead to billions of innocent lives being saved over the long term, and would also make a massive difference in terms of combatting the climate/mass extinction crises.
Anyways, massive respect for your work nonetheless, props from NYC.

Just for the sake of clarity, canines have absolutely no saying as to how much an animal is designed to eat meat. There are actual herbivores with large canines like saber toothed deer for example. So i would say bringing up canines either way is a very weak aspect to prove or disprove optimal diet.

I almost died from the severe inflammations in my joints and the random cystic growths I suffered from with severe psoriasis, catastrophically destructive psoriatic arthritis, IBS and a few other issues. I was bedridden and addicted to opiates that had to be prescribed so I could just barely function. Not a good combination for s single parent.
Then I switched to a ketogenic diet and guess what? I started to get better. I started to be able to move and the issues that had brought me literally to the brink of death started to alleviate. My ldl/hdl levels are "perfect" my O2 levels are elevated, my blood pressure is 118/81 and I can now sleep more than 2-3 hours a night. My reliance on the opioids has been diminished to almost zero and my Drs and I will be implementing a full removal program from all opiates starting next month. I am consuming in excess of 2000 cal/day and very, very little is plant based. I've also lost a significant amount of weight with the dietary change.
Is this decisive proof that meat based diets are for everyone? Absolutely not. Is your claim that there is no need for animal tissue consumption universally true? Absolutely not.
You need to get past your ideology and look at things from a realistic and non-dogmatic perspective. Sometimes a meat based diet is what a person needs as opposed to a plant based diet. This is just basic fact.
Not all diets are right for all people and the "morality" issue you raise is both wrongheaded and deeply offensive to those of us who come from cultures which subsist on greater meat consumption through hunting and fishing. You owe those people an apology for such a juvenile and judgemental statement based in nothing but your "opinion" as opposed to thousands of years of cultural history.
You are well entitled to your opinion but you diminish your own credibility with such blatantly ignorant statements.

A few years ago I lived on a fully vegan diet for about two years and my pain and inflammation went through the roof (I am 55 with Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosed in my thirties). I went back to eating a 'normal' UK diet after my gallbladder was removed and my RA got gradually worse. I was put on Tramadol, Nortriptylene, Naproxen, Methrotrexate and Hyroxychlorine none of which made a huge difference to the pain. I have now been on a Keto, nearly carnivore way of eating for nearly 8 weeks, within the first week my pain and inflammation was greatly reduced. I have since been able to reduce my pain meds by 2 thirds, I have more energy and my brain fog is gone. The evidence speaks for itself!!

Just FYI, your personal story isn’t evidence, and a vegan diet isn’t necessarily healthy (a lot of junk food is vegan). We have no idea if you followed a whole food, plant based diet while being vegan. We also don’t know if you were getting enough nutrients, if you were drinking or doing drugs, if you had any other lifestyle triggers/variables, etc. Even if you stated that you followed Dr. Esselstyn’s diet to a T, we have no way to determine the accuracy of your claim (you need an objective observer). EVIDENCE is obtained through scientific research and controlled study. I’m not saying whole food veganism is perfect for everyone, but please don’t use the term “evidence” to describe how great the keto and carnivore diets are (not unless you have some actual evidence). It’s dangerous to insinuate keto/carnivore diets are safe.

I feel like almost none of the other commenters have watched the Joe Rogan interview. It explains why he lost his license and it really has very little to do with his diet as you alluded to. The best thing that I can say about this video is that you are a well informed and well read individual on your side of the fence. I have dipped my toe into many different types of diet and anecdotes and studies. And the one thing that I can find is that you have to find a relationship with your diet that matches you and your body. Some people can function perfectly on a ketogenic diet, even a vegan one, and others couldn't last a week. And the reverse is true.
Side note: you mentioned that the majority of cautions for cooking food are with meat. I personally can eat most meat nearly raw and have no adverse effects. So I take that and raise you allergies. The majority of the allergies and food sensitivity that people experience are stemming from plant sources. I take this in the light that, again, we must find the individual diet for our body. There is no "one size fits all" solution.
And yes, I have been aware that vegans are in a lower trophic (I believe I spelled that right. Feel free to correct me) level than carnivores. But unless you grow all your own foods and/or use a farmer's market, you are still contributing more than you should to carbon emissions. I also realize that the same can be said for meat, but its more a point of where you are going to take your share of the blame, not how. We are all equally guilty of doing damage.
I am still in the process of finding my ideal diet for me, but I love to play devils advocate because it encourages people to stop and think about all the moving parts, not just the ones that are easy to see. I would love to talk to Mic and discuss things because I feel we would both be better for it. If that's alright with you.
    Thank you and good luck.

My grandmother is really old and recently she has gotten even more and more tired and her bones are very weak so every time she goes out she could slip and break a bone because it's winter rn. I've tried to tell her about how milk makes your bomes even weaker and animal products makes you get dangerous diseases but she says that she thinks that the studies in talking about are sponsored and that you need to eat meat. She's talking about the war and how it was very important that you drank milk and eat meat to survive because they were already starving here in Sweden. Please help me convince her before it's too late. My other grandmother has already died of cancer and I didn't find out about veganism before she died. If something happens to my other grandmother and I knew a way that could have saved her I'm not gonna be able to live with myself. We've always been really close and she's like my best friend. Please help I appreciate every single word🙏🏼

Maybe you could tell her that her current way is clearly not working so she has nothing to lose in at least trying veganism out?

Processed Vegan Products don't think is that good for health compared to Raw Whole food plant based. As there is more processing in it.

What strikes me as suspicious about THIS video though is the minimizing of reports from carnivores. We're not talking about mere improvements in health. We're talking about people reversing diabetes and arthritis. I'm not a huge advocate either way, but an objective analysis of the diet would AT LEAST acknowledge how dramatic a lot of the results have been.

Why doesn't he have scurvy? If he hasn't eaten any fruits or vegetables for over a year, he must get scurvy. According to NHS choices you get scurvy if you haven't had vitamin C for three months or more. He must be taking supplements.

Dude, you're still with the old nutrition nonsense. Wake up! I was a vegan for years and listened to everything we're usually told about the benefits of being a vegan. One day i decided to tried a keto diet......I will never go back to be a vegan. What a difference! I'm actually thinking of trying the carnivore diet. Believe me, most of the stuff you talk about and take for granted is nonsense that some ignorant doctors have been dictating to society. After all, there are so many studies that contradict most everything you say. So, it's what works for you - not what you're told. Be open minded.

did you do your research? then you know that most of that is water weight.......when you stop ingesting carbs you pee all the water right out your body with ever molecule of glycogen in the body their are 3 water molecules, so when you stop ingesting carbs you use up all the glycogen stored in the model, thereby removing all the water with it. did you just start this with no research? that would be bad.
i am also on the keto diet, so i know this and almost every keto you tuber out there informs their followers that you will loose a lot of weight very quickly in the beginning because you are dropping a significant amount of water......um so this just seems like a really dumb comment.
and in order to loose weight in a healthy way for the body, you don't want to be loosing more than 5-10 pounds a month so that the body can get used to that fat no longer being there in a healthy way. you did not put on all that weight in a month or two, loosing weight very fast is devastating to the body, the metabolism and the skin. the skin especially needs time to adjust and tighten back up with the loss of weight.
but loosing all that weight after beginning a keto/no carb diet is like DUH BRUH, you lost a s**t ton of water weight and the moment you begin eating a balanced diet again, the water weight will come back.
its just like the people who claim to cure diabetes with a keto diet, no you didn't cure anything, you are just avoiding having to take insulin (for a type 1), or avoiding actually healing and having your body learn how to take care of insulin by avoiding insulin spikes (type 2) by eating no/low carbs. but the second they stop the low carb/keto diet, the diabetes will come back. they didn't cure anything, they're just avoiding it. which i can see the allure for a type 1 diabetic, but a type 2 diabetic should cure their diabetes the "correct" way.
nothing special about you loosing 20 pounds in 3 weeks on low carb/keto. happens to everyone. it is temporary. hopefully you are supplementing with electrolytes (magnesium, potassium, and sodium) because along with loosing all that water weight your body also drops all of it's stored electrolytes which the body require. since you either haven't done any research or are just being a douche nozzle, if you do not supplement these electrolytes you body will begin to have muscle cramps, headaches, dizziness, fainting, loss of thyroid function, inability sleep, unbalanced hormones, loss of water regulation, stingy skin, drying skin, chronic dehydration and the list goes on and they get much worse the longer you go without supplementing the electrolytes.
these carnitards really should talk about supplementing more.
i love being on keto and the keto world on you tube does talk about supplementing appropriately and maintaining a healthy diet and lifestyle, but these carnitards man..... they're so f**king stupid. "nope all you need is meat, you don't have to supplement and you don't even have to eat organ meat or even a variety of meat. all you have to eat is just this rib eye steak here and you will be fine. you'll get everything you need and won't have to worry about a thing. put a little salt on there, if your going to cook it, cook it in some tallow. bang. everything you need. it's fine. you'll be fine. its. just. finnnneeeeee."
please do your research and do keto/low carb/carnivore in a healthy way. you can't just eat muscle meat and be fine, just like a fruitarian diet or any other extreme unbalanced fad diet, you got to make sure you are DOING IT RIGHT (because you know everyone gets triggered when you say, they weren't doing it right. because well, they're not doing it right and about 80% of the people in the world aren't doing the diet RIGHT!).
      and yes
i do a whole foods plant based keto diet. i

I'd like Mic, Vegan Gains, and other Vegan proponents form the Vegan community to challenge Shawn Baker on his recent videos as of 2018. He's fairly active on social media and his TH-cam channel. When I see the sheer amount of people who call themselves part of the "Tribe" and are following his carnivore diet wholeheartedly I hate to say it but I begin to question my dietary choices. There's so much misinformation and one thing iv'e noticed is that people just like to follow whatever group they identify with the most without much thought. I've done the research myself, looked at both sides, and my conclusions are that being a whole-foods plant-based vegan is the best diet I could possibly follow (as i'm officially now vegan), but still I question the reach he has with his arguments. There're very little rebuttals to his videos so they pretty much stand unchallenged since 2018. I just wish there were more rebuttals so everyone can see both sides because it just doesn't make sense to me how eating absolutely nothing by meat is logical from a health and longevity standpoint. Great video mic.

I am watching this as a new carnivore diet person. I could never do vegan myself as I just cant stomach the food alone. I do enjoy and like many vegetables but I just cant do only vegan. This did come into my feed and I knew it would be counter to my choice of diet but I watched it because I am willing to hear all sides. The issue is most people only want confirmation bias. Personally I am feeling much better on this carnivore diet, i had no serious issues but i am better. There have been people claiming to have been on this diet for up to 20 years, while i have no way to verify this i can only assume people are being honest.
The big difference between carnivore people and vegan people is that the carnivores do not claim any moral purpose behind their dietary choice, where as many vegans do. They both claim health benefits. Anything different than a standard American diet of processed foods is going to be an improvement. But for me carnivore works and I am willing to face possible health issues as all things have risks.
Also vegans, I know you are not eating the rabbits and the voles and insects, but many creatures also die for crop foods. Perhaps you feel those smaller creatures are insignificant, but death is inevitable if humans want to live.

Great video Mic, you nailed so many reasons not to go carnivore, wish I could convince my sibling. I tried 100 percent vegan for over a year but my gut could not tolerate all the beans, onions, and that high of an amount of fiber. I am now a vegetarian eating much fewer legumes and no onions and garlic. Am eating some wild caught salmon, egg whites, no dairy, every other day and since have much less bloating and no stomach pain. Everybody is a little different in what there body will tolerate. Just added in tempeh, and tofu this month. The low fodmap diet fixed my issues in helping chose what veggies and fruits to limit or eliminate. Love your videos, so informative.
