An important thing about enjoying being Gothic is self acceptance and enjoying who you are. Your gothic expression should build on and enhance your passions, pleasures, and pursuits. Ungoth character aspects contrast our gothness in an empowering way by helping to pronounce our personality facets. Both Blade Runner films and Logan's Run are personal favorite films of mine as well. Though it's been a while since I watched Logan's Run. Also, the Body Builder reveal is fantastic! Unexpected and encouraging.

Oh absolutely. And yes the acceptance of enjoying Who You Are so you have seen both Blade Runner and Logan's Run, wow, and thank you, yes ,bodybuilding has been one of the greatest hobbies that I have fallen into, and I thought it would be great to leave that to the last because I thought it was kind of really unexpected.

Thanks for the shoutout, PM! So excited to hear my name and all the other Goths. As far as my unGoth confessions, #1 I design swimming pools for work, #2 I sleep early and wake up early in the morning-6am, #3 I also listen to Funk Music occasionally. That is all I can think of as being unGothy. My favorite movie has been The Matrix, Now I really want to watch Logan's Run and combine it with Blade Runner.

I'm at one lady who designs golf courses. The Matrix yes that movie does stick in your mind. And I'm really glad that you've watched both Logan's Run and Blade Runner which one did you like more better?

Not only did I shop at Kmart, but also worked there and one time was in an emergency lockdown with employees and customers during a tornado outbreak. I was gifted a pair of Nightmare Before Christmas tennis this year for my birthday and wore my Jack Skellington knit cap today and it wasn't even really that cold today, lol.

And you are the exact person that I'm looking for I wanted to actually find someone who actually worked at Kmart. I had people who said that they had worked at Kmart and they said that they had such a unique experience working there that some people when they started with a part-time job work for more than 20 years even though they were working another job. They said they couldn't give up the Kmart part of their life. And a lot of the Kmarts that went out of business they recorded like the last day and you can actually hear managers and other people getting on the microphone saying " attention shoppers the store will not be closing in the next 15 minutes please bring all your purchases up to the cash registers to be checked out, and it is with the sad heart that I have to share that this will be the last day of our Kmart store. it has been an absolute honor to work for Kmart, and I will truly miss the experience" you can actually find videos online of people doing the confession about how they really wanted to continue working for the company. I should get myself something Jack skeleton and just wear it just too be a part of The Nightmare Before Christmas world.

What a nice surprise! Thank you for the shoutout, Professor. I do remember Logan's Run. I saw the film and the TV series when I was quite young and the Carousel scared me so much. And I loved the music. Blade Runner I saw in the cinema and it was the first DVD I ever bought.
And I confess that I noticed the professorial biceps in some videos.
Never cared much for Harry Potter. It just never resonated with me. I do like Daniel R. In The Woman In Black.
White wine and vodka over red wine any day, agreed. I looooooaaaathe absinth.
My most ungoth confession is that I don't like The Crow (the original) very much. Nice soundtrack, but I watched the movie at least once every decade since it came out and I like it less every time. I finally threw out the DVD a few months ago.

    • @gothicallyyoursprofessorm.7222

Okay you've seen Logan's Run that is good- yes the carousel part really does stick in your head. I kept thinking to myself that if it was real how- or I should say they only live to be 30- it's like what a waste of life. And I wouldn't want to be there you know? A lot of people have said They Don't Really Care much about Harry Potter it even the books or anything about it. There is a show called life with a Kardashians or Keeping Up with the Kardashians.. I have never seen it I have no interest whatsoever in this thing so I thinking to myself if I'm not interested in the Kardashians I can see how people were but not interested in Harry Potter. White wine and vodka thank you so much. drinking the green fairy takes a little bit of practice to get into it's not something that people can just slide into. The Crow, the closest thing to the crow that I have is I have Brandon Lee's Bruce Lee's son Tombstone rubbing with me it was given to me by a person in Washington State are they found the cemetery where the actor was buried and they did a tombstone rubbing of his Stone and sent it to me in exchange for a book on vampires. I have never watched the movie. And actually a lot of Goths will say that the crow is not goth at all.

wow that's crazy. i thought i was the only goth who's not a walking horror movie encyclopedia. i don't hate horror movies, there's some i like, but i don't obsess over them as much as other people in the scene do. i can't even begin to tell you how many clubs and concerts i've been to where my friends got into in depth discussions about horror movies, and i was left out. i suppose that would be the biggest goth proclivity i don't fall into either.
also, i knew it! i just knew you're a harry potter fan. honestly i don't think liking harry potter is that ungoth. it can get pretty dark. and also, i'm a hufflepuff.

Thanks for sharing your ungothly confessions! I really enjoyed watching it. I always like watching these kinds of videos because even though we all like the same sort of music and lifestyle we are all so different when it comes to ungoth confessions. I'm 23, been goth for 10 years but my adoptive goth family still call me 'baby bat' as I am the youngest.
    1. I love cartoons. There's a lot of gothic cartoons I enjoy, yes, but majority of them are not. Love Spongebob
    2. I love watching Drag and drag race, etc. Anything to do with drag. (Btw I recommend Peaches christ)
    3. My first concerts were WetWetWet and A-Ha
    4. I love 80s geeky films and comedies. My favourite film is Blues Brothers and Trading Places.
    5. I am goth, but I do like emo and scene stuff. Just the fashion and things related to it, not the music.
    6. I collect Garfield. Yes, the orange cat
I can't really thing of much else. Majority of things I do would be considered goth or gothic, but also majority of my ungoth things are things I carried through childhood.
Also so impressed at you being a bodybuilder. Did NOT expect that!

Oh my pleasure for sharing and I'm glad you enjoyed watching the video. Love cartoons all that's wonderful. SpongeBob is now 25 years old. It came out in the 1990s I think in 1999. I got to check that. Drag and drag racing, there is a character by the name of Jinx Monsoon, she was on RuPaul's Drag Race and I thought her performance of doing Little Edie was outstanding. I mean it was just amazing. I was in a high school when I first heard the A-HA song Take On Me. I do know the Blues Brothers. Garfield came out when I was a little boy and I had collected all of the Garfield books from the first one all the way up to like the 20th book. And thank you for being a press that I'm a bodybuilder. I encourage anyone to get into it it's a really wonderful Hobby.

Professor M, very excellent video! The record you described with the plastic insert to play them on turntables is a 45 r.p.m. 😊 My un-goth confessions are 1.) I saw legendary singer Tom Jones back in the 90's with my mom, who's still a fan of his to the very day. It was an awesome concert, by the way. My un-goth confession 2.) My first concert was seeing KISS on their Reunion tour in 96'. My 3rd un-goth confession is my very first record purchase at a record store in a mall was Micheal Jackson's hit single on 45 r.p.m. "Beat it" back in the 80's. 😊🦇
And yep, I also shopped at K-mart, especially back in the late 90's when the Jaclyn Smith line of attire sold velvet "t-shirt" style tops. I was very slowly building my first Goth wardrobe from that store and I adored burgundy velvet tops and naturally of course, black velvet. Although my K-mart shopping doesn't fall into the "un-goth confession" catagory by any stretch of the imagination I thought I'd include it. 😊
And my un-goth confession #4.) is that I'm a huge fan of late 19th century natural path/body builder, Bernarr MacFadden. If it hadn't been for my late fiance letting me pour over endless hours in the encyclopedia set he had, then I'd likely not have changed my diet, or general health for the better. Although not widely known by society today, some of Bernarr Macfadden's dietary and other advice helped greatly. I have since that time acquired nearly all of Macfadden's books. Not so much his Physical Culture magazines as those don't turn up for sale often. Bernarr Macfadden believed in heliotheraphy, which was getting plenty of sunlight that produces natural vitamin D and fresh air especially when sick. This was before the air was polluted heavily like it is today.
During a time when a cure for Tuberculosis wasn't discovered yet and wouldn't be until the 1950's, the remedies and advice Bernarr gave was quite insightful, interesting, albeit creepy especially when medical science and medical advancements were barely in their discovery/ infancy era, and most experimental procedures for Tuberculosis treatment were ghastly, barbaric, and what we'd view today as completely inhumane and did practically little to help the patient. I wouldn't say Bernarr Macfadden is for everyone, but he was a natural body builder before steroids were commonplace. The second 19th century body builder that enters my mind is "Sandow". He's featured in Edison's DVD set of early silents, mentioned by Bernarr, and I believe Sandow toured extensively billed as one of the world's strongest men back in the Victorian era.

Yes! 45, I was...33? Umm what do I know.. And seeing KISS I would say is doorway to Goth. Many heavymetal bands are the doorway into Gothdom. M J's Beat it- I can't believe he is gone. Oh yes and Tom Jones for your mum- my mum its Rod Stewart!!

    • @EB1878
      @EB1878 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

@gothicallyyoursprofessorm.7222 I think you referred to the 45's as 33. We had 33 1/3 r.p.m.s growing up. Todays records are pressed at 33. 😊
I agree about Kiss being a doorway to Gothdom nowadays, back when I saw the Reunion tour they were still considered hard rock. Heavy metal I've loved since growing up. I usually say Judas Priest is my favorite heavy metal band, Quiet Riot, which lean more to the 80's "party"/early 80's heavy metal is another favorite of mine. Yes, I can't believe M.J. is gone. It seems like just yesterday I remember watching him Moon walk on TV that really catapulted his musical career. Although M.J.'s music was mainstream pop given the times, actually Thriller I'd say could fall into the Goth music of today and should. Somewhere I still have an old VHS copy of "the making of Thriller". It's got a ton of dance choreography where the extras are dressed up like zombies, and I believe M.J. turns into a zombie at the end of the music video for Thriller. Still, the special effects makeup is stellar! And M.J. does a little remake of a 1950's werewolf scene and it looked real. It used to scare me as a kid seeing him turn into a werewolf, but the makeup was excellent!
My mom likes a little Rod Stewart, but she really loved Edgar Winter and Johnny Winter by the time she was in high school. She told me about a group of girls that had started up a "goth- like appearance" wearing all black, their hair was styled and dyed black, however, they definitely didn't have the dramatic stark makeup nor overtly noticeable pallor like we have today. At most, she remembered these girls emulating an "Adam's Family" appearance daily maybe since the TV sitcom was relatively new back then and it was something daring to try and push the dress code in school back then to her recollection. It was a form of rebellion, but also was an enjoyable pastime for her generation for something to do as they wanted their own individual styles, cliques, etc.
By the way, this was long before the resurgence of Wensday Adams. The Adam's Family was still brand new on TV. ❤😊
Naturally though, these girls wouldn't let my mom be a part of their clique since she didn't quite fit in with them (style-wise) plus my grandmother would have forbidden my mom dye her hair black. And that's a glimpse of some unknown, rare "gothdom" long before goth came to be known as Goth. 😊

I think regardless of how Goth someone thinks they are, there's always numerous things that are non-goth that they like. I don't like modern horror films, I find them boring and relying on gore too much. Give me the old black and white Universal Monsters movies any day, the ones that have atmosphere and a creepiness to them rather than buckets of fake blood everywhere and a predictable storyline. I'm also a lover of the original Star Wars movies, have been since I was a child. It's like those who think you have to only listen to "goth" bands, I like more variety. I have varied tastes ranging from classical to a bit of Peggy Lee (influenced by a lounge singing Pekingese in Lady and Tramp no less) through to classic rock and some metal... There's even some cheesy pop music in there somewhere too. It depends on what my mood is at the time. All of these little difference, these "non-goth" things are what makes us who we are... what makes each of us unique.

yeah I've had quite a few people saying that they don't like horror movies so far above. Which is nice cuz I can actually feel okay I'm not alone on this. Lover of the original Star Wars movies okay I'm going to ask you a question when did you first see the first star war movie? I saw mine in 1978 on the top of a station wagon in a drive-thru theater with my cousin. We were sitting on top of the station wagon with a blanket I mean this is the days when you could still do that and these things were not considered illegal. Because putting children on top of car hoods at-- any point in time now would be considered illegal. But back in the '70s it was perfectly fine because the car was parked and wasn't moving. But I saw my first Star Wars movie the original one in drive-in theater outside in my pajamas. I believe it was in Connecticut I saw that. Lady and the Tramp yes I do know that story well and I have to absolutely agree with you what makes each of us unique. In one of my videos I had mentioned I have never met two Goths alike and there it is Boom you mentioned it perfectly.

@@gothicallyyoursprofessorm.7222 I first saw Star Wars in the mid to late 80's, I wasn't born until 1980 so I was too young to see them at the cinema. My first real memory of anything Star Wars related was 1983, when Return of the Jedi was released here in the UK. There was an appearance by Darth Vader at a local toy store so my parents took my older brother to see him, and I went along too clinging to Mum for dear life as a rather tall man dressed in black with a huge cape and flashy lights on his chest walked towards me... I see that as my first introduction to The Dark Side! The films aired on TV in the mid to late 80's so that's when I first really saw them and have loved them ever since. I have the original theatrical releases (without the bad CGI additions in) on VHS still, even though I can't watch them as my VCR died a death a couple of years ago. With regard to uniqueness, I was having a conversation about this same subject with my best friend just last week, even she said that the most gothy of all at the goth clubs probably had pink fluffy socks inside their stompy boots and probably wore fully bunny slippers at home. We all have our little quirks.

I don't like horrors, too. And I'm glad that the opinion like "real goths do love horrors" or "real goths do/enjoy only (...) and never (...) " is just a someone's opinion or a gossip. By the way, it's so adorable that you enjoy beauty of the nature and design. I think you're very creative and wonderful. And, oh God, it's so inspiring to learn that you've designed so much stuff for the ballet studio! I love also your bodybuilding practice! I enjoy sport (mostly just workouts and long and rapid walk) so it's great that there's no actual rules about it.
I don't understand the "Nightmare before Christmas" at all, it's conception, it's aesthetic...
Oh, cyberpunk... It has such a deep dark aesthetic and makes ask yourself so many thinks you could never imagine before. Even things like "Tron" (1982) make you consider if what is a soul, what does mean to be a human, etc...

7, I HATE spiders. (Actually, anything with more than 4 legs) They make me crawl.
8, I, too, love lycra clothing, though it looks ridiculous on my chubby body.
9, I love Chess! I'm not very good at it, but I love studying & learning about the different players like; Paul Morphy, Howard Staunton, Paul Fisher, Boris Spassky etc.
10, I have a Dan grade in Tae Kwon Do, & am fascinated by martial arts. Doesn't seem very Goth to me, & I'm running out of ideas. Haha

One person at asked me multiple times to do the "Mhahahahahahahah" laughter that I do naturally. My characteristics and the way that I move jolt my head everything that's all natural. Whenever I get into my goth mode, it just comes out my voice, my persona, I mentioned in one of my earlier videos like "when you put on the face it's like coming home" which means just once you get into the goth clothing and you get goth relaxed it becomes so easy to just be yourself and that Persona comes out. My students are often surprised when I take off my jacket, and I have on just a shirt and tie. And then I'll ask them to look very carefully at the tie that I'm wearing. And then I do the most incredible thing where I actually will make my pectoral muscles jump individually as I'm talking about my tie and all the kids will go up Ahhhhhhhhhhh! It's been a running joke that I've been doing now for about 10 years. Blade Runner go watch it again it is a wonderful movie. I wasn't even sure that I was Goth until I took your quiz so I guess I would have unGoth confessions of my own. A bodybuilder? (blush) I guess that me blushing is odd coming from a former stripper. Goth can be incorporated into that, Type O Negative was played for some of my stage shows. I only met one stripper who was goth. As for horror movies I used to watch them but not anymore. I'm not into vampires or things like that but I do find Vampire Hunter D to be very intriguing. I never read the books or the Manga but I saw both of the Anime: one from the eighties and the most recent one from the 2000s. Also, I liked the rave scene. I went to a couple of raves and have also been to a couple of rave clubs. Alcohol? I'm not a big drinker but my favorite drink is Amaretto mixed with Coca Cola with a cherry in my drink. Absinthe, from what I heard of it, doesn't sound like something I would like. I don't drink red wine either I find it to be too strong. I might have seen the first Bladerunner movie but my memory doesn't serve me well anymore. There are many things that I do that are not Goth. I do remember window shopping at K-Mart but can't remember buying anything from there.

Got a plant/gardening question for you, how and what do I feed my trees on my property to help them stay healthy the maple trees are getting kinda old. And what's the best way to get rid of English ivy that grows around trees? Is this a question that you can answer or am I being too extra lol? Thanks!

    • @gothicallyyoursprofessorm.7222
      @gothicallyyoursprofessorm.7222  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

Hello Chad, yes, I have an answer for you. The first thing you need to know is that maple trees, whether young or old, require proper care. Generally, established maple trees do not need fertilization, as they have very extensive root systems that naturally obtain nutrients from the soil and rainfall. However, if you want to give them a boost, you can apply a slow-release, nitrogen-rich fertilizer, which you can find at any garden center, in early spring before the buds break or in late fall after the leaves have dropped. It is also beneficial to ensure they are well-watered, especially if they appear to be growing slower than expected.
Regarding your second question about English ivy-I understand that while English ivy can be aesthetically pleasing, it can become a real nuisance if it gets out of control. It is crucial to remove it to prevent potential damage to your trees. You can start by cutting away all the ivy around the tree at eye level, creating a three to five-foot circle from the tree, akin to a Lifesaver candy with the tree being the hole in the middle. After cutting, carefully remove the ivy vines between the cuts without damaging the tree bark. Remember to wear gloves and long sleeves during the process, as English ivy can cause skin irritation for many people. Once you remove the ivy, continue to monitor the area and remove any new growth to prevent it from re-establishing. I hope I have answered your questions as fully as possible.

This was so interesting 😊. I love your confessions. I don’t know if I can think of ten, but I’ll try. 1. I don’t like bloody gorey movies myself and can only see very mild of such. 2. I like classical & nature music more than Goth, but I do like many Goth bands & a singers . 3. I love pale pink but can’t really wear it much because it makes me feel odd. 4. I don’t like red unless it’s very dark; almost black. 5. My favorite movie is “A Midsummer Nights Dream with Michelle Pheiffer; I really love faeries. 6. I don’t like black nail polish unless it’s iridescent or sparkles.
    7. I actually think white looks better on me than black. I do wear black because it’s a safe feeling, but for some reason, in the last few years, I don’t think it compliments my complexion. Maybe I’ll amp up the makeup 😊. 8. I’ve actually never been to a Gothic concert in person because there aren’t any where I live. When I was near them my ex-husband would never have let me go, as he didn’t approve of my being Goth. 9. I don’t know if this qualifies, but I’ve never met a Goth person in person except for my son who is no longer Goth. 10. Not only don’t I like horror movies, but I don’t like horror bloody gorey things in my residence. I prefer everything to be very elegant and refined I would say. Well that took some thought, and maybe everything didn’t qualify, but I tried. Loved the video and thank you for the shoutout 💜🦇

Since you said you'd never, ever do a "ten ungoth confessions" video, you could have produced a... "12 ungoth confessions" video maybe?
    1) Horror movies: I too dislike them. The very few I actually liked are those that have little gore and a lot of psychological tension. Movies that make you unease, not frightful.
    2) I could take a bath in a tub filled of red wine and exit it when there's no more wine in it. My skin would absorb wine!
    3) Eurythmics are great and their music is an enchantment no matter whether you're Goth or not!
    4) I do not watch TV and anyway HGTV is not available where I live. In any case, many Goth love gardening, it was a favourite outdoor activity with Morticia Adams!
    5) Spandex is something I just can't bear having in my clothes.
    6) Even though I love Tim Burton's movies, Nightmare Before Christmas is NOT among my favourites. I like Corpse Bride a lot more.
    7) Blade Runner is exceptional! The overwhelming feeling of societal decay, of systemic wide-scale, corpocratic exploitation of everybody, both humans and replicants, is a theme that most Goths can actually relate with. I did watch Logan's Run on TV when I was a boy, and I was delighted when I could watch it again a few years ago.
    8) I haven't watched any of Harry Potter's movies. Not that I don't like fantasy movies, I just never felt that series particularly attractive. Maybe someday I will find and buy a full DVD collection in a rummage sale, watch and like them.
    9) I don't think there's anything ungoth in dancing per se.
    10) 😆💪
    Go, Goth on steroids!

The part that she says " I do " reminded me of the Haunted mansion at Disney- The bride can be heard in the background saying " I do" - Logan's Run.- They also had a series after the movie came out , however it wasn't successful.
