Vale Adam Clark, one of the most prolific roboteers in Robot Wars. Creator of not only Vector of Armageddon, but also Corporal Punishment, The Armadillo, The Mangulator, Wowot and 259. I'd heard legends about the clash between The Master and Thor, which was used to held build up the interest in robot battling that led to the creation of Robot Wars. Quite an impressive battle, considering how old this is. Heh, they put the finish line flag on Shunt's axe shaft! That's funny! Damn the Demolisher was fast and precise, but let's face it- it wasn't a robot, it was an RC car.
It looked like a great plan at first, but I believe the second ramp has a tiny increase in gradient compared to the first, and Adam Clark seemed to be unaware of this. Still, I agree with Jeremy's comment on Vector of Armageddon, it did have some potential of going far in this heat.
So this is where the journey began for Adam Clark. Vector of Armageddon in S1, Corporal Punishment in S2 and S3, Wowot in S5 and the incredible 259 in Series 6.
@Headbanger142 It was basically an attempt for a pilot where some American robots (the master, la machine etc.) basically came as embassidors to the sport to London and fought some makeshift robots built by the BBC (Grunt, Eubank the Mouse ect.) This then got the nod to make this series.
I can vouch for the Krayzee Tokyo driver's excuse. Radio control frequency interference was a common issue in the show's rules and regulations, luckily these incidents rarely occurred throughout the show's history. Jeremy clearly hasn't a clue about radio control frequencies since he's more knowledgeable and interested in motor vehicles.
Cant be due to Robot Wars rules once the battle have started you are not allowed to use transmitters in the pits but also each transmitter for a robot is checked by the crew which make sure that they have the correct crystals for the recciver and transmitter, if there are 2 frequances that are close to eachother they change them to make sure interferance does not happen
Bugs was so cute! Still have a soft spot for it, although Adam Clark wasn't much of a successful roboteer in Robot Wars but he was in every series with a different robot on BBC, shame Vector of Armageddon got caught on the 2nd ramp cause it would've done well in the trial race. At least he covered the most ground of all gauntlet losers in series 1. Excellent sportsmanship from Oliver of Cunning Plan for helping The Demolisher get back on track, LOL Jeremy Clarkson was so rude yet funny to Krazee Tokyo :P
I think it could be either that a lot of The Demolisher's gauntlet run was cut out (Jeremy mentioned it being flipped which we obviously didn't see) or the producers believed that The Demolisher would walk away with the victory in the trial had it of started on pole so placed it third to make things more difficult for it.
The Stock Car Racing trial could also have been ideal for the Stig, even though this series was made around 1997/98 and the revamped version of Top Gear had yet to have come about. If it did you would most likely to see a Stig figurine riding on top of one those featherweight robots.
V of A should've after it's first ramp climb,is go inbetween the drills and second ramp, I think there was enough of a gap to get through and he would've done well in competition, anyone else agree with my idea of route?
I just love how the majority of S1 robots were so delightfully crap.

Love the addition to Shunt's axe - very creative. :D
Adam Clark knows his robot has a 1mm ground clearance, so he decides to go up the ramp. Great plan.

@@josephilsley3028 he learned well for this though

Don't forget Armadillo in series 2 as well
Shunt with the finishing flag on his axe is actually adorable.
Back in the day, as a young 18 year old, Adam Clark used to be my Robot Wars crush :)

featherweights zipping around a racetrack is one of the funniest things I've ever seen in the show
"That's the worst excuse I've ever heard in my entire life" Jeremy Clarkson

It's a shame, in another round he would have gone through, not sure why but they all did really well in the gauntlet compared to some of the others
+intergalactic92 it's small so it easily avoided the obsticles

I kinda like Cunning Plan's sportsmanship in the trial.

Different countries, different builders.
Bugs looks like a Teapot
I think he right Crazy Tokyo controls must be the same has Demolisher
The American robotwars looks mental
I didn't think Jeremy would quote Schumacher in this show as well xD
That flag is awesome
La machine, biohazard, the fore runner of tazbot, vlad the impaler. Americas great legends at roboteering
@DannyV1991 no because if a robot broke down or got circuitry failure they would let it have another chance
Haha, that saw bot at 4:56.. They're trying to make it look so meanacing, but it ends up just being cute. What was the armor of that other one? Paper?
probably aluminium which would get sliced up by a circular saw.
Heh, La Machine got an OotA. Over a very small wall, granted, but t'was what it was.
Maybe getting flipped over in the gauntlet gave you a time penalty.
Series 1 was such a shambles 😅😅

@machewbaccas yeh but think how boring diotor's fights would be if bash wasnt there
@TPH250290 i think youd never seen doitor
tell that to Diotoir
demolisher should've had a shermech
No marvel vs Dr who jokes?
1mm ground clearance? how could you think that was a good idea
So they can't get flipped maybe? You don't know anything about robot wars do you?
seemed to work real well for him
***** That's because it weren't designed to go up ramps..... You REALLY don't know anything about robot wars... DO YOU.
***** While I agree with you (because it is a good design for battle), it was kind of stupid to try to take it up a ramp with that low clearance.
la machine is v of a
@111111hakar Completely superficial.
@111111hakar As boring as anybody elses.
