- Here we are! The War that started them all! The fifth Heat of the first ever War. Jeremy Clarkson presents, Johnathon Pearce commentates and Philippa Forrester interviews the teams. The six combatants are Bodyhammer, Reality, Torque of the Devil, Full Metal Anarack, Psychosprout and Warthog.

reali-t should have won that, shunt interfered with the outcome, bodyhammer looked imobolised on that grid. that was unfair
I thought the house robots were supposed to stay in their designated area, but they continue to go out and about and interfere. The house robots literally saved Bodyhammer from defeat. If I were the driver of Reali-T, I'd be pissed.

Is it just me, or did Realit-T suddenly get a lot faster, more controlled and more powerful half-way through its fight with Full Metal Anorack?
Yeah, bloody foul in the final, though. Driving onto the grille in the 1st Wars was supposed to be like driving into the Pit in later ones. Shunt coming in and shoving Body Hammer off it (at the cost of immobilising himself) was blatant producer interference.
Remember in the Labyrinth trial, Reali-T suffered a damaged motor by an attack from Matilda. This motor helped run two of its six drive wheels, and so the team had little choice but to continue on four wheels (both central and rear). In the Arena, I'd say Richard Finch struggled with the controls at first, as Reali-T moved differently with one less pair of wheels, and soon started attacking Full Metal Anorak properly once he got the hang of the driving.
7:55 House robots just chilling in the middle of the entire arena despite nobody going anywhere near their corners.
Poor Torque of the Devil, If Full Metal Anarak hadn't driven on the grill backwards it could've been a very close judges decision in the semifinal! How wasn't cease called when Bodyhammer was on the grill but Shunt pushed him off then Reali-T got stuck on the rails? Sounds a little suspicious to me!

Ooh, that bullshit again with Bodyhammer on the grill. Series 1 was full of so much controversy - Recyclopse and Bodyhammer really shouldn't have been in the grand final. I really do feel for the Mortis and Reali-T boys.

The house robots were really undisciplined in these early episodes.
Bodyahmmer should not have been pushed off the grid, especially since Reali-T actually pushed them onto it! Or do they only leave the suicide ones beached?

Would've been fun to see Reali-T in the 6 way. Bodyhammer did f*ck all in that but survive.

Psychosprout did win. It won our hearts.
I honestly didn't mind Clarkson too much as a presenter. True, he is better when he has people like Hammond and May to bounce off of, but he was at least honest about things, whereas Craig was just "you did well" generally. Even if they didn't do that well.
Reality pushed shunt into Bodyhammer and he went off the grid i think. Though they should have called Cease the moment Bodyhammer went on the grid.
Robin Herrick's face at the end of the battle says it all really. He knows he's unfairly gotten through, certainly didn't seem half as enthusiastic as the other bots who won their heats.
This was a tricky finish. --- I think the house robots pulled bodyhammer off the grid on purpose, because it was their fault he was on there in the first place. For some reason they were just wandering around the whole arena for the entirity of that bout, and it would have been grossly unfair to let bodyhammer lose that way.
In hindsight, they should have ran the whole match again, and exiled the house robots to soddery for their sins!
I think Reali-T was trying to push Shunt away from Bodyhammer because it realized what was going to happen

Indeed, the House Robots were way too inconsistant. Bodyhammer didnt do anything, but nudge Reali-T after they got themselves stuck

projectile or chemical weapons werent allowed. bash was the only exception.
I still don't understand why Bodyhammer's original weapon was not available, it might've been the same problem of what happened to Mortis's axe
you can tell its the first season because the house robots dont stay remotely in their designated area and they interfere too much
