- Here we are! The War that started them all! The third Heat of the first ever War. Jeremy Clarkson presents, Johnathon Pearce commentates and Philippa Forrester interviews the teams. The six combatants are Robot the Bruce, Wedgehog, Dreadnaught, Cruella, WYSIWYG and Plunderbird.

I feel so bad for the crew members told to pretend they're contestants, they're doing whatever they can to lose on purpose, but it's hard when the other robots are so bad. And after all that they get to be laughed at by the host in front of the cameras. Hope they got a bonus or something.
Yeah definitely. While I think most of the time Jeremy's comments towards contestants were pretty harmless and often quite funny, some of his digs at Michelle and Jonathan's women driver joke were in very poor taste, especially given that she got drafted in and was specifically told to lose on purpose by the producers.
Go George Francis! My favourite roboteer of all! You can see what a legendary driver he is even at this early stage. Even Jeremy Clarkson was impressed!
I noticed your comments about Jonathan Pearce saying "armament" referring to armour. But what I also noticed was Mick Cutter saying the same word, but referring to weaponry. At least Mick sets a positive example to people

@Jimera0 I read somewhere that WYSIWYG was actually entered by the producers to "make up the numbers", so it intentionally didn't score.

The contestants were nice enough though, and fully acknowledged how lucky they were.
With this episode I see why Jonathan Pearce was employed to do football commentary.

I loved the design of Drednaut. A lobely looking robot, even if it wasnt exactly the best in the competiton!

Grunt, WYSIWYG and Mouse were RC cars added to take the robot count from 33 to 36 so they could have 6 episodes with 6 robots rather than 5 with 6 robots and 1 with 3. These stock robots were allowed to pass the gauntlet however they were not allowed to enter the fighting rounds meaning they weren't allowed to pass the trial.
George Francis, a star was born! Wedgehog was lucky to score that 2nd goal, how did WYSIWYG make the trial? "You are getting through by the skin of your teeth aren't you?" couldn't have said it any better Philippa!
These stock robots were such bullshit. Dreadnaut shouldn't have gone through this stage, yet because W.Y.S.I.S.W.G. was a stock robot, Dreadnaut had to go through despite its immobility. Stupid really.

From what I Understand, they Had to let him go through becasue WYSIWYG was a Stock Robot (1 of 3 to make the number of robotss the need for the show) they were under restrictions that they could pass the gauntlet but not the trail, Why that is I Don't know
Shame WYSIWYG got this far and couldn't have been eliminated in the gaunlet, Dreadnaught would have gone here then Plunderbird 1 could have got to the arena, which would have been interesting to see with its interchangeable weapons
How the hell did Dreadnaught get through that round when he didn't move for most of it
Because WYSIWYG was a stock robot supplied by the producers to.make up the numbers and so wasn't allowed to advance past the trials

It is mentioned in series 2 that he was operator of Robot The Bruce in the first.
JC fits top gear so well, but he is pretty woeful for this series

Chaos 2 was always a bit unreliable, great weaponry and an awesome driver, but their weaknesses were found out during the first world championships, and they were in for it from then
Regardless, George Francis really did save that robot, still great to watch!
WYSIWYG was a planted robot by the producers to fill out the ranks.
I think Chaos 2 is the only one of the three "legends" that could've bothered Mortis if Mortis had better drivers (come series three once it had the lifting arm/srimech), because Razer and Hypnodisc would've just bounced off it, the damn thing was bulletproof ^_^
George Francis is a wicked driver. Chaos 2 is an awesome machine, but it would be worth fuck all if George wasn't driving it.
I'd love to see George drive Mortis, which was the robot I loved as a kid (I was 11 when this was on BBC2...) ^_^

Shame about this, I'd have put plunderbird through instead of wysiwyg and then dreadnaught goes out in the trial due to immobility. Plunderbird then could have properly demonstrated its interchangeable weaponry in the arena, which would have been much better entertainment, shame really

Also, more movement/turning speed requires more skill to control it. I learned that from Besiege.

Dreadnaught's touches must have came from other robots knocking the ball off it. Poor decision for me.

They should both be eliminated, so we could have a triple threat match, but I think it's unfair Wyg is so small compared to all the other robots
I feel sorry for WYSIWYG, Dreadnaut did absolutely nothing.
wysiwyg should of been put though over dreadnaught dreadnaught died before cruella and wedgehog scored
tigerex5 That would also explain why they were so much ridiculously lighter than the other competitors- Grunt was 45kg and WYSIWYG was an ABSURD 10kg.
Chaos 2 was MILES better than Robot the Bruce.
Dreadnaught is probably the moast unreliable robot in RR history. It almost always stopped and started smoking.
