- Here we are! The War that started them all! The final Heat and final of the first ever War. Jeremy Clarkson presents, Johnathon Pearce commentates and Philippa Forrester interviews the teams. The six combatants are Tracie, Scarab, Prince Of Darkness, Blob, Eubank The Mouse and Elvis.

Is it me or the responses from the Prince of Darkness team to Jeremy sound pissed? Bonus points to them for being ballsy.
It really makes you realize that in these older episodes, it was more about who didnt break down in the first 3 seconds than who could deal the most damage.
When a bot built in 5 hours is better than most of the other robots in the competition.
Which one was that?

I can see why they replaced Clarkson, he acted like he'd rather be anywhere else.
ipperz12 The Mouse couldn't be allowed past the trial stage of the show because it was built by the crew who build the house robots, therefore making it a stock robot to fill space.
The stock bots for this series were: Eubank The Mouse, WYSIWYG & Grunt (driven by the son of one of the judges of the show, this bot also created controversy with the team who entered this series with Barry)
Cue the producers frantically thinking of a reason to kick the joke entry out in round two when it happens to be better than all but one of the proper entries...
The Mouse had the best stock-death ever. They just proclaimed it as "irreparably damaged" because everyone sucked too much!
1:28 Jeremy's expression very much summed up his opinion on the whole series, no wonder he chose not to return for series 2.

Interesting, Prince of Darkness were still slightly moving at the end, and T.R.A.C.I.E. was stuck on the grill. I think Prince of Darkness was technically immobile because it was only mobile on one side, but if T.R.A.C.I.E. couldn't get off the grill, it would've been fun to see Prince of Darkness go through.
@Sgrubb1S Well, they said the mouse broke down. Probably what happened was it originally won, but was unable to continue and handed the victory to TRACIE.

You can see Nemesis and Roadblock the background, obviously waiting for their semi final clash as Prince of Darkness is wheeled into the arena ahead of them. This indicates the line up of battles in each respective heat were not filmed chronologically.
Joseph Ilsley This all happened in one day. They filmed it by segment so every robot did the trials one after each other then they changed the arena and do the same thing for semi's and so on

why did they let the stock robots through to the trails when they couldn't even get past them? Surely to make it fair for the genuine competitors they make them lose in the gauntlet?
Most made it past the first trial and then lost on purpose in the second round.

Wow.This Stock Robot rule is REALLY Stupid.I mean,Tracie went out in that round with no doubts.Yet they lied about how Eubank the mouse Broke down Irrepairably.Really? Grunt's exit was suicide.

I dunno why so many roboteers took on the house robots. Just wait for the turntable to rotate around to face another route and avoid the only hazard that's actually out to get you. The House Robots, with free reign to actually wreck your shit, were the most unbalancing part of early Robot Wars- look at how Prince of Darkness managed an easy and controlled Gauntlet run only for whoever was controlling Matilda to spitefull decide to fuck them up completely.
God Jeremy Clarkson was a prick. Actually, he still is- he's a thug and a bully and everyone makes excuses for him because he's a "personality". Asshole.

The mouse was a stock robot, it was added because the didn't have enough competitions. It wouldn't be fair if the fake entrant beat an actual entrant.

Am I the only one who noticed that T.R.A.C.I.E wasn't moving at all so why did the mouse go out when it was moving.
Because The Mouse was a stock robot entered by the producers to fill out the numbers. They pretended it was "irreparably broken down". Grunt and WYSIWIG were stock robots too, so they weren't allowed to go beyond the Trial.
Okay I can see the logic behind that decision but you can have The Mouse break down against The Prince Of Darkness and it would of made just as much sense, nothing against T.R.A.C.I.E I'm just saying it looked a bit off to me.
It would definitely make sense, but it was decided from the get-go that stock robots could not go beyond the Trial, and it's possible the roboteers were aware in advance. They can't bend their own rules, I'm afraid.

Prince of Darkness was robbed. TRACIE weren't moving and they were, despite the damage they took to their wheels.
Oh god those robots are so bad I wouldnt be suprised if Mouse actually won the episode if they let him
How badly would Hypnodisc have beaten these robots if they had played in this series.
