  • Chair Yoga 28 Day Series - Some Seated, More Standing. In today’s practice, we’ll explore poses for our 28 day journey including seated Hand to Toe pose. You’ll need a chair and a yoga strap (or substitute) for today’s class.
    Welcome to Bottoms Down Chair Yoga. I’m Carol and I’m happy you’ve chosen to spend this time together to stretch, lengthen and strengthen your body.
    This 39 minute yoga practice is day 18 of our 28 day yoga journey together. Join us as we build our practice from the ground up. We warm up gently and center our work on our breath and mindful movements to build strength and improve focus.
    You’ll need a chair and a yoga strap (or substitute). We’ll start seated and move to a standing position and return to seated.

    My wife and I been through both 28 & 30 day challenges and your mindfulness series. We are 1/2 way through the 28 day challenge again.
    Had Day 18 been our introduction to seated yogi, I don't think I would of stuck it out, but you took the beginner slowly and gently taught us the joys of yoga. Thank you for sharing your passion. Hang in there girl!

    Feeling good tonight - did both day 18 & 19 - missed yesterday as I went for another long walk as the weather was so good. Really enjoyed the use of the strap - I also use it when taking my hands behind my back to help my shoulders when folding forward. Thanks Carol :)

    With 2 new knees and hips, I found the standing poses with the strap difficult. My left hip seems weaker so my balance is off when standing on it. But I did what I could. I am glad that I found this. Thank you Carol.

      Remember: Anything we do standing you can do seated. So if the standing poses don't work for you, sit down and continue with the poses. I know that standing poses, especially with the strap, can be very challenging. Please stay safe and do what works for you!

    Using the strap was a little challenging (keeping my hips facing forward) at times. I improved as we repeated these moves. Thanks for challenging me and helping me improve my health. :)

    Hi, I just finished day 18 of the 28 day chair yoga challenge. Iam so out of shape I was having trouble lifting my legs with the strap and / or balancing without holding the chair. It was quite a workout. Thank you 🎉 JulieDB. 😮 ❤

    At the beginning & the end of the sessions we flip our palms up? Meaning what?

    i am very weak on balancing and it was really tough for me. I did most of the standing exercises seated. i tried to feel good anyway.

      That is a great modification. Try a little at a time and you will get stronger and more balanced if you keep it up. Don’t forget to keep your core engaged, it helps so much. See you tomorrow!

    Don't know what it was about today but seemed to hit a wall. My knees are in poor condition so I had to stop holding the poses while you were describing them. No offense but found myself thinking enough talk just do. Frustrated with my body not you 😊

      I understand and am really sorry that you are frustrated. I know that I talk a lot sometimes. But it's so important to me that you move safely through the poses and that your form stays true to your body. Keep it up and you'll continue to get stronger. Tomorrow is another day!
