We ONLY ate BRITISH FAST FOOD for 24 HOURS! 🇬🇧
In this week's video we only ate British fast food for 24 hours.
We love eating and we love fast food, so this week we decided to try out some unique UK fast food chains. For breakfast started the day at Wenzel's, a bakery chain, where we tried their coffee, sausage rolls, and steak bakes. We also had some rather unusual items, like a Jamaican Beef Patty and a Nutella & Biscoff Croisnut.
For lunch we went to German Doner Kebab (GDK) where we ate the OG Kebab and a delicious Doner Krunch Burger made with Doritos.
For dinner we went to an iconic old school chain: Wimpy. We tried some of their classic items, such as the Wimpy Cheeseburger and their Bendy & Cheese. We also tried one of their Thick Shakes as well as some sides like chips and onion rings.
We couldn't make a UK fast food video without going to McDonald's, especially since we love McDonald's in the UK. We finished the day off with dessert which included some seasonal items, like the Hot Cross Bun Pie and the Cadbury Cream Egg McFlurry.

    The word is derived from the Proto-Germanic *bakkon, meaning "back meat". Meat from other animals, such as beef, lamb, chicken, goat, or turkey, may also be cut, cured, or otherwise prepared to resemble bacon, and may even be referred to as, for example, "turkey bacon". so yes canadian bacon and english bacon is the real bacon. we use back meat as opposed to belly which Americans use.

    to be honest as a hungarian a never seen that type of Chicken Paprikas before, its kinda strange. Also the price of that Lángos... Man as a hungarian i am ashamed, its overpriced as hell sadly. Btw in Hungary if you wanna taste the best versions of traditional hungarian food, sadly you have to get invited to a family dinner. Cuz our mommas and grandmas are the best. What you can eat in the restaurants they are usually the mainstream version. Every single fatty dish on a family dinner is even more fattier and spicy. We love it:D

      We didn't even realize it was a different variation until after the fact, because we had literally never seen it on a menu previously. Regular chicken paprikas is much better. Budapest is getting quite pricy now, so the price we paid for langos is pretty common now. There are spots like Retro Langos that charge 2200Ft for the same thing. As I think we mentioned, the cheapest we ever paid was in our local market, and that was about 1000Ft. Would have been fun to have a Hungarian grandmother cook for us! Unfortunately, we're no longer in Budapest. Maybe one day though. I can imagine the would would be amazing.

    Everyone hates on wetherspoons.. but it's not ment to be fine dining. It's cheap food. Cheaply prepared and served cheaply. Some things are done well. Some are awful. Ultimately it's a cheap place to have a few drinks, with the possibility to soak some of it up with some reasonably priced food. If you want better tasting better quality food.. then go elsewhere.

      @wherearewe-yt for people on a budget like you say it's pretty good!, they do themed days or at least they used to. So that day the items are even cheaper. Fish Friday for example. One thing I can say from working for them before.. as long as the pub has decent management. The bars and kitchens are spotless. But I can imagine there are numerous questionable ones

    Oh god the dreaded Bendy at Wimpy lol....I will go to my grave remembering in the late 90s when I was in secondary school walking past our 1 remaining wimpy and seeing the great poster that stated "Come in and enjoy the bendylicious pork bendy bender meal" baring in mind to 15 year old me the only time I had heard the term "bender" was as a homophobic slur.....It certainly did its job and made me look again at the poster...basically thinking "Surely they are not allowed to say that". As a Brit I like seeing people from other countries come here and try our food and actually enjoy it!. I still get a little annoyed that in every comment section there is always a "ConK-Ered the world for spices then don't use em, BriT-ISH food is garbaarge" style comment when they couldn't be further from the truth in reality. A lot of what is classic British food is warming comfort food designed to keep you full and happy in colder winter months, which I think it does very well but they tend towards using local herbs as seasonings rather than expensive spices. Also need to mention the fact that many British favourites are passed down from Grandmothers or Mothers who lived during rationing in both World Wars where there wasn't a massive spice trade because getting other things was more important than wasting room on a cargo ship for boxes of Cumin, Ginger and Paprika. You also tend to find when going back in history the highly spiced food in Britain was reserverd for the rich, EG look at any Tudor period food and the peasentry had stews or plain meat and veg usually flavoured with herbs where as the Royal Court ate full on meals where everything had Nutmeg and Mace in it.

  • @ddlee84
    @ddlee84 2 วันที่ผ่านมา

    I have a love hate relationship with Weatherspoons, you can't deny that they are value for money as drinks and food are cheap in comparison to other restaurants, cafes and pubs. But they are also a big par of why the old style British pubs are closing. Spoons are cheap because they can afford to buy in bulk which is why the menus are almost identical whereever you go in the UK(with the exception of the odd regional difference), your local pub cannot do that and in most cases are forced to buy their beer, larger and ale from the brewery who owns the building at massively inflated prices when the brewery then sells the same beer to places like spoons at half the cost. I've seen that happen to a pub near me, where the landlord explained his costings just purely to the few of us that were in the pub because he was greatful we were there. He explained that the brewery would charge him say £200 a keg which you get around 88 pints out of(maybe less for foam up if the lines aren't perfect). So if you got the full 88 pints you would need to sell at £2.27 per pint just to break even on the keg alone, not including the overheads of the pub(power, staff,rent and heating etc) So you are already over what spoons are charging before you factor in the rest of your overheads and then a profit margin so you can actually make money that is why in the standard local you can see pints at £6.50 per. That is the main part of the hate side of my relationsip with Wetherspoons(other than ther owner who is a colossal berk) but I won't ever say they should all be closed or anything like that because they do help people go out and have a good time on a budget. The brewaries are the bigger villains by selling cheap to big old conglomerate Weatherspoons while gaining maximum profit from the landlords who don't have a choice but to get the kegs from them.

    Another thing i like about Spoons (and some other chain pubs, but not many) is the inclusion of a drinks menu. Most pubs just expect you to know exactly what you want and be happy with whatever price they surprise you with at the till. Yeah, you can just ask, but it's awkward if you're feeling indecisive (as i often am) and the bar's busy, server doesn't wanna spend 10 mins going through every drink available with you 😅

    • @wherearewe-yt
      @wherearewe-yt 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Totally agree! So many bars often don't have a drink menu that is easily visible and since we are on a budget that can be a bit annoying sometimes. We don't like bad surprises, either, where we realize we just ordered a £10 drink. The drink menu at Wetherspoons is super transparent and you can even check the prices on the app before you go there.

    Did you know why the reason why food isn't always hot at Greggs is the fact that they don't call themselves a hot bakery because with hot food they would have to charge tax on it. Therefore if you want your items to be hot such as the sausage rolls / bakes the best time is probably lunchtime or a busy time when demand is there so they'll be heating a fresh batch of bakes etc regularly.

      So we've heard! We wouldn't even mind if we had a place to heat things up ourselves. With all the filming and whatnot, it's our own fault that things end up getting cooler. We have a Gregg's part two coming up - but this time the location we were at had two floors, so we were able to eat everything the moment we got it!

    Im not a huge fan of the food personally but it's certainly value for money, as far as the drink selection goes however it's unmatched. Their selection of real ales, bottled foreign beers, ciders, cocktail, wine etc is amazing! It's been great in encouraging other local pubs to be more reasonable too.

    Wtfk is linner? We have. Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, Supper, But No linner.... Your in the UK, it’s not another country... Spoons is Not representational of the UK... Eat in a restaurant, drink in a bar or pub, if you ‘need’ to do both at the same time, either your in the wrong place or country.... Local establishments are way way better, pubs and food outlets, but...stay away from fast food or ‘chain’ outlets...you’ll be amazed at the service and quality....

    • @wherearewe-yt
      @wherearewe-yt 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Linner: the time between lunch and dinner! Just like brunch, the time between breakfast and lunch. It's a thing. I mean, given that Wetherspoons is the most popular pub chain in all of the UK, it certainly represents something to some people! There are a lot of Wetherspoons lovers, and a lot of Wetherspoons haters. We go to plenty of locals in other videos, but going to a local spot that only a few people know about is not a video. No one is going to watch a standalone video of us going to your local to have a drink and a meal. Wetherspoons is a major chain that's known all around the UK - which is why this video has over 40K views in a few weeks, and a video of us going to a bunch of local pubs and restaurants in any given city only gets a few thousand views (like the 4K views we got in Nottingham). We make both styles of videos - but large chain videos with almost ALWAYS do better. There's a bigger audience.

    Try spoons in Chippenham.... That’s exactly why I’d Never go into another.. Poor service, poor quality and crazy food. It’s not snobbery, it’s realising that it’s just below normal standards. But then, if your standards are low, it’ll be great....

    • @wherearewe-yt
      @wherearewe-yt 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      It's not that much worse than some other pubs we've been to. The difference is that Spoons is a fraction of the price of some other pubs. No one goes there thinking it's going to be the best meal they've ever had - but the value for money is decent. Especially for breakfast!

  • @qbarnes1893
    @qbarnes1893 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Yehhh, fast food is the way to go... Jfi, Greggs is not a bakery, it’s a reheating business... Lazy lazy people refuse to cook at home yet alone make a simple drink.... The ideology of ‘not cooking’ at home is simply killing us...a little research will really scare you.... If you’re in the business to cut short your life, create health issues and waste a whole load of money, go bust a butt... In the meantime I’ll stay healthy for wayyyyy longer...

    • @wherearewe-yt
      @wherearewe-yt 7 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Of course fast food isn't healthy to eat all of the time, but it isn't going to kill you once and a while either. We will happily go every now and then. It's the most popular fast food /bakery in the UK, and we wanted to give it a proper try. Also, we knew it would be a video that would potentially do well - and we were correct.
