Where Are We?!
Canada
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ก.ย. 2022
Hello, and welcome to our channel!
Now, a little about us. We are Brandon (Canadian) and Anja (German)- an International traveling couple.
Despite being new to this TH-cam thing, we have actually been traveling on and off for the past 8 years! We have lived in 8 countries together, and have recently reached the 50th of our 50 country goal together.
During this time, we've been asked, "why don't you guys start a TH-cam or travel blog?", several times by friends and family. We finally looked at each other and said, "why not?!".
If you share a love of food, culture and adventure, we would absolutely love you to subscribe and join us on this journey.

Hello im British and i agree if you haven't tried weatherspoon then you should try it for the first time it's very good value for money
We've been back twice since! Great for cheap breakfast and a cheap drink.
Just watched ur videos about slovenia, going next month! Especially want to try the green beer!
@@anthonyeos23 That restaurant is worth a try, for sure! Everything was delicious. Even the horseradish on pizza. 😆 Enjoy!
Most people don't know this but I tend to avoid GREGGS as the owner Colin gregg is now serving a 13 an half year sentence for child molestation in 2017 and is still receiving all the revenue from all his branches!

@@chefjen68 You're welcome! I imagine you're not the only one planning a move now. It's a beautiful city. I'm sure you'll love it! If it wasn't for our apartment, we would have stayed there a lot longer than we did.
Love that you guys came to visit our city! If you need suggestions or an afternoon tour, hit me up next time you're around :)
Good vid but it should be named eating non stop in Edmonton
That's pretty much what we always do. 😂 Our channel is very much food focused because those are the parts most people want to see. It's also the reason we typically always have food in thumbnails. Food, compared to a lot of museums and attractions, has a far better retention. Thanks for watching! 🍻
My Auntie was from Vienna, a very beautiful country. European Christmas markets are the best. Far superior to anything America could offer
Very true! Growing up in Canada, our "Christmas Markets" were nothing compared to what most of Europe has. Anja was lucky to grow up with German Christmas Markets. The ones in Germany and Austria are at the top, for sure!
Out of every where to go for breakfast they go to blinkers 🤣🤣🤣🤣
And it was delicious! And cheap!
Please come next time to Lublin, eastern side of Poland, and try "cebularz". And many more estern dishes, this kitchen was diffrent from other polish kitchens.
There is also the Christmas Museum in Szentendre. It's worth a visit.
Dear Brandon and Anja! As Hungarians, it was very interesting to see what you think about Hungarian food. You are very well informed and brave to try everything. Well, some Hungarian people have never eaten cock testicle stew or tripe stew in their life. Me neither. There is a food group that is a completely Hungarian specialty, but it was completely omitted. These are the " főzelékek": Condensed vegetable food. There is no proper English word for it.There are "főzelék" bar where almost only these are sold with some kind of meat topping. It's worth tasting! It can be made from all kinds of vegetables. :-) Here's what they look like: www.google.com/search?sca_esv=7f62e3115b109870&sxsrf=ADLYWIKfe2HhBn7oS-tYY4cPBgmP-vB_YQ:1732057377919&q=f%C5%91zel%C3%A9kek&udm=2&fbs=AEQNm0CRjlOtE433-CvsDZEksQ8zUchZAntv9lLo-e4ZT42ralptAFul-D5diXoQM33k0zskBA1wOn85IWaKc3TE_p9MBvZVAwcGZw0T1JZADHUUdvHwEmN-ViMMgBMqqpksB1ZEexhk72NO8zRIkGaKr91gWtgVnAQXwmY-3fZKsQrKH_ehQtD7zViN2w86HgMiP_eDljH5&sa=X&sqi=2&ved=2ahUKEwii7PbFwOmJAxU0FBAIHYaENloQtKgLegQIDxAB&biw=1366&bih=679&dpr=1
1. Do not mix hot and cold rakia in the same day 2. Do not drink fast 3. Try to find "domaća" rakia any type ask someone for "20 grades" 👌 And for good you try only 1% what Serbia have Cheers
A buddy of mine that lives in the UK basically described to me that Wetherspoons is the Denny's of the UK. It's not somewhere you go but somewhere you end up. Like you're out drinking with the boys and while walking home you all see one and figure "why not?".
That seems like a pretty accurate description. Hahaha. It's a great place for cheap drinks and late night eats. Or early morning hangover breakfast! 😂
Try beef Tatar with vodka ( or without ) :)
It was on our list of things we wanted to try, but we missed out this time. Next visit, for sure!
I haven't tried Kam Wai, but there are killer baozi (steamed buns) at Sunfresh Bakery in Chinatown. As good as what you'd find in Taiwan or Mainland China. And Richmond is a goldmine for.....well, everything Chinese food-related.
We would love to return and make a video completely in Richmond next time. I had so many places marked there, but we had such a small amount of time! Next trip, for sure. We are headed back to Asia in January, so there will be plenty of delicious baozi to come. 😋
Dont take it as criticism because you are trying really good traditional dishes that people recommend for very good reason but from hundreds of videos i watched on YT of people trying Polish food i never once seen anyone try typical grochowka wojskowa. Next time please look for a place outside of city that has military style trailer kitchen and does grochowka. Its absolutely phenomenal and you will be first on YT to try it
Where were you when I made my reddit post! Hahaha. I was actually trying to ask locals what they would like to see in a video-- but more specifically, favorite dishes that are shown less often. That would have been great to try! We love to show dishes that most others don't. We will have to try that in a future video when we return. I actually straight up just want to make a Polish soup video because there are so many good ones. 🍲
@wherearewe-yt ye im always late to the party 🤣
Yummy... looks delicious!
Everything was so good!
I reseearched this : "Bratäpfel, in Germany, are apples filled with cinnamon, nuts, raisins, and German marzipan. A crumble is like a streusel, it sometimes contains oats or nuts where a crumb topping typically does not."
I definitely prefer apple crumble! Anja prefers the bratäpfel.
@wherearewe-yt I love crumble aka streusel, made my own too, but never tried Bratäpfel yet. Might give it a go for christmas 🎄
Wroclaw is absolutely beautiful and should not be missed when you come to Poland! What is your favourite Polish city? Thanks for watching as always! Stay tuned for our next video where we'll be taste testing a million polish snacks and sweets! Spoiler alert: Polish snacks are amazing! 😊 - Brandon & Anja
It is a "vegetarian lard" made from beans. It is an appetizer they serve everybody and you can buy a small set of different flavors to eat while you wait.
I knew it! Haha. This was the first time we had ever been given this as an appetizer. It was really good! And free! 😁
The salad with white root vegetable was either celery root salad or something that in Polish is called "rzepa" (google says it translates to "turnip"). If it was moist it was the latter, if it was a bit dry with something clearly added to make it a bit moist it was the former. Those are quite old recipes. These days you need to specifically look for those to get some. ... and now I watched the rest of the video and you said it is a celery root :)
Hahaha. Yeah, it took us a few more bites to figure it out!
We will have to check this place out next time. I think two or three people mentioned it! Sounds like our kind of place.
its not that we did anything different with teriyaki here (even though we did... teriyaki in japan has no ginger and garlic its just sweet/soy) it was invented in seattle... teriyaki chicken is a seattle thing :) glad you enjoyed the city!
We loved it there! And we will take teriyaki in any form. It was delicious.
You can be vegetarian in Poland!!!!!!!
We never said you couldn't be?
The museum building is amazing. Old town is lovely. So you go to Poland to get a Georgian pastry that is Greek. LOL Those baked pierogi all looked yummy. I'd like the lamb one dipped in garlic sauce. Hello from rainy Oregon US.
We couldn't pass up that Georgian place! It looked too good. Haha. We are currently in Turkey, heading to Georgia next. Excited! The baked pierogi were all so good. It's a nice change from boiled.
AHH my home city, I was born and raised in Wroclaw, boy do I miss it (I live in the UK), glad you guys enjoyed your visit.
We make a lot of videos in the UK as well! It was our second visit, so we loved coming back. It had been 7 years since the last time, so it was a long time coming. Such a nice city!
Witam. Miłego pobytu w kraju, bawcie się dobrze. 13,96 za kompot, z czego on jest?
We thought the same thing! That kompot seemed quite expensive. No idea why it costed so much. We recently had some in a milk bar, and it was a fraction of the price. 😬
Smacznego!
We certainly did. 😄
Fantastic video guys! I’m Looking forward to going back to Wroclaw in December for the markets even more after watching this video 🇵🇱
We're glad you enjoyed! We really need to come back to Poland for the Christmas Markets one year. It's always the best part of spending Christmas in Europe. 🎅
Boiled are more healthy
As much as we love the baked, I do think boiled are the best. It's much easier to sit down and eat a full portion of them. These baked ones are so heavy and filling.
My state.. ✌️🌜🦋🎚
Your state is beautiful! We actually bussed from Vancouver to Seattle. Such a nice drive! We would love to see more of Washington in the future. Hopefully, some day. 🤞
go to Toruń is very good city
We would love to see some smaller Polish cities in the future! It's much more enjoyable to film videos in smaller cities as well. Thanks for the suggestion!
👍
Oranzada means lemonade.
Does it?? I thought the translation was more like, "orangeade".
I don't like only the sweet pierogi :) My fav are from my family home with white cabbage (not sauer) and wild mushroom, but they aren't well known in Poland.
Oooh, that would be delicious. We love mushrooms!
Fibi on top
What is that supposed to mean? 🧐
the second dish is a Lithuanian traditional dish, not Polish
Yeah, we mentioned that! I knew they were found in Lithuania, but I wasn't 100% sure who claimed ownership for the dish. We also tried chłodnik in a previous video, which also has roots there.
You must go to bar mleczny miś and bar witek Best zapiekanka Poland WrocLove 💞
Thanks for the suggestions! We're gone now, so we'll have to check them out next time. 😃
What great videos you do very well presented Take care 👍
Thanks so much for watching! 🍻
Oh my, those baked pierogi look absolutely glorious. No wonder you fell in love in those delicious monsters. 😋
They were amazing. SUPER filling though. Definitely can't eat six of those bad boys at once. We'd explode! Haha.
I lo❤e Poland
We do as well! 🇵🇱
I like this adventures of guinea pig and her boyfriend 😊
Haha, guinea pigs are cute, so I guess I'll take that as a compliment 😂. Thanks for watching!
Most popular pierogi are boiled or fried and these one are baked (in the oven i believe). They are ofc known but less popular.
Yeah, we've only seen them in two cities so far! They don't seem nearly as common.
My town...nice:)
It's a great place! We were so happy to revisit.
@wherearewe-yt how many dwarfs did you find?? there are about 300+ of them, and You should come to a Christmas market in december for a muld wine;)
Siemka, u mnie wjeżdżają gotowane ruskie ze szczypiorkiem i boczkiem. No i pomidorki do tego i jest malinowo.
Może wklepią w translator 😊
Yes, we always translate everything! 😁🤓
That sounds so good! To be fair, we probably would like any flavor. 🤤
@@wherearewe-yt 😁
Great to see you there! Me and my husband live in Kraków, but Wrocław is our favourite city in Poland and we go there very often, so it was so nice to see the place with your eyes! When it comes to pierogi, those with fruits are absolutely not for me somehow, something like kompot in dumpling dough, but are very popular and liked here :) Pity that your staying was so short! Somebody in the comments has already noticed, that you should stay till December :D
We love Wroclaw as well! It was the second Polish city we ever visited together, so it holds a special place in our hearts. We would LOVE to come back for Christmas sometime. This year, we will be celebrating in Dubai. We've never spent the holidays in the desert, so it'll be interesting! 😅
@wherearewe-yt, oh, there is so many places to see, its hard to choose the one, have a great time in Dubai!
Buckwheat and cheese pierogi are really nice, never saw them in restaurants though.
I don't know if we've had any pierogi with buckwheat before, but it sounds delicious!
Lard is "smalec" in polish. Probably the same origin as "schmaltz" in german.
Yes, it is! But we liked the Polish version better.
@@wherearewe-yt The best one is always homemade. For example I make mine with onions, prunes and dried apricots. Many people like it with onions and grated apples.
Najbardziej lubię standardowe pierogi z miesem I skwarkami, gotowane. Nie przekonalam sie do smazonych. Lubię jeszcze uszka do czerwonego barszczu. Jesli chodzi o pieczone pierogi to poprostu nie sa one jakos popularne u nas w kraju. Szczerze - nie umiem powiedziec czemu sie u nas nie przyjely.
We love all pierogi variety! But I do think boiled are probably best. It's much easier to eat more of them because they aren't so heavy. We want to try some with crackling! I don't think we've had any like that yet.
