We always knew about the controversy of Marmite and how people either hate it or love it, so we are glad we finally got to taste it in the UK. We always love when brands make unique snacks as well. Are you a Marmite lover? We are also really interested in trying similar spreads, like Bovril. Which one is better? Let us know in the comments if you have tried any other Marmite snacks and which one is your favourite. In our next video we'll be back in Canada but one of the first things we did was visit a UK pub where we had an interesting version of a British breakfast. Thanks, for watching as always! 😊- Brandon & Anja
I follow a plant-based diet for the most part, so one of the ways I use it is as a meaty stock. Add it to stews and onion gravy, or to rehydrate vegetable proteins and it makes a great beefy flavour. I also, on wet, cold evenings or after swimming in winter, add a teaspoon of Marmite to a mug and add boiling water to make a plant-based Bovril type drink. I normally add about the same amount of Marmite on toast as you did - maybe a little thicker - but quite often I have it on crumpets a lot thicker because crumpets soak up a lot of butter.
We've not tried Bovril before. We'll be back in the UK soon, so we'll have to give it a try! We love crumpets with marmite and butter together. Such a good combo!
Google marmite pasta - basically cook pasta, save some of the water. Dessert spoon of butter (or a little more), generous dessert spoon marmite heated together with a little pasta water add drained cooked pasta, and parmesan cheese. Simple and addictive. However Hot buttered toast with Bovril???? now you are talking. Utter heaven
@@wherearewe-yt Bovril is beef and Marmite yeast. Bovril has a very definite taste of Bovril so it's hard to explain. Once you've tried Bovril you will know what I mean, but I love it
Aww, thanks! We're a bit behind with editing and this video was actually filmed a few months ago and we're in Poland right now already. We'll actually be back in the UK in less than two months 😆🙂. This time we'll be visiting a few more places in England and Scotland as well. It'll take a bit for those videos to come out, though.
I love Marmite, the Marmite peanut butter isn't Marmitey enough for me but I've been putting Marmite and peanut butter on toast together for over 50 years. For a real taste sensation, butter and Marmite on one slice of bread, butter and strawberry jam on a second slice and then put them together as a sandwich. Once you have the hang of those, it's time to go for my ultimate comfort sandwich, Marmite, strawberry jam and peanut butter between 2 slices of buttered bread.
Thanks for the video guys .Marmite we say here You either love it or hate it personally for me when i was younger i did not like it but i believe as you get older your taste buds change now im in my 50s and love marmite its actually nice as a dip with celery sticks .
Tastebuds definitely change as you get older! Anja never liked shrimp, lobster and most shellfish when I first met her. I'm from the East Coast of Canada, so I love it. After trying it more and more, she's now obsessed. Marmite only took us a week or two to adjust to before we began to enjoy it. We started with mixing the Marmite directly into butter, then to using it on fried sandwiches. Now we can't get enough. Haha. Celery sticks would be good!
There are lots of marmite exclusives in M&S, like hummus and a cheese marmite prepacked sandwich, and butter and cheese, and dinky pinwheels, and Waitrose also do a big block of marmite cheese. Sainsburys do marmite nairns oatcakes too, and Tesco sell little mini marmite lunchbox cheeses! Please try more!!
Looks like we missed out! We went to the Sainsburys and Tesco in the area we were in, and got everything we saw. Didn't make it to a M&S, which was clearly a mistake. That all sounded amazing! We did try their Marmite & Cheese sandwich when we were in London for a single day lay over a few weeks ago. So good! We'll be back in the UK soon enough, so we'll have to see if we can find some of these items we missed the first time.
Marmite Peanut Butter is one of the finest brand extensions ever! I used to go through a jar a week, now I make my own with Egyptian Dukkah mix to give the crunch and am only a partial user 😉
We really enjoyed it as well! Just find out there is (or was) also a Mark's & Spencer hummus?? It seems we missed a few interesting products! And the Dukkah sounds delicious. 👌
@@wherearewe-yt The Dukka variant is the best, I do a home made mix and the fennel seeds and hazelnuts it uses really take the peanut butter to the next level! I've tried the M&S Hummus, it was merely OK, and not a patch on the Truffle which is my 2nd favourite after the Peanut B. Imagine Truffle Marmite Peanut B 🤯
I make crispy chickpea snacks in various flavours. I haven't done it yet, but I think if I put some Marmite in a sandwich bag with a little oil, then add a drained can of chickpeas, shake it until they are all covered in the oil and Marmite mixture and then bake until crunchy, that would work. Not sure.
@@wherearewe-yt I do put Marmite on crackers and dip them in hummus sometimes. It has to be a very strong, garlicky, homemade hummus, though, otherwise the Marmite overpowers it.
